Hey gamers! Are you ready to take on Helldivers 2? As a fellow diver, I’ve gathered some helpful tips and hidden secrets that will elevate your gameplay and level up your enjoyment. Let’s dive in and uncover these useful tricks together!
Tips and Tricks
2. Reloading is faster if you still have 1 round in the magazine, no need to rack the bolt!
3. Container Doors can be opend with explosives like grenades or launchers or Stratagems.
4. Droppods kill enemys good, a reinforcement can kill even the biggest enemy.
5. Hellbombs may be found laying arround throughout missions, shoot em to make them explode and kill everything nearby.
6. You can remotely do Illegal broadcasts and Spore Spewers sidemission objectives using Rocket Launchers to destroy the main target just beware the slight drop when firing those at long ranges. (longest shot i’ve done was ~400m)
7. Artillery Sidemission comes with varrying ammo laying about, load that which you wish to use in that mission, in the order you want to have it. (red=explosive/Yellow=nuke/White=smoke/Green=Tox Screen/Blue=Armour Piercing) shots from it are called in like stratagems.
8. The Radarstation sidemission reveals loot locations, however currently its not aligned to the compas in relation with the antenna so automatic callouts are wrong. Just check the console and turn in relation to that.
9. Bug nests can be destroyed by throwing explosives into them or with Stratagems, why approach and wake em when a rocket or a Rail from heaven can do?
10. Recoilless Launchers/Autocannons with ammo specific backbacks are best used in 2 man teams, one to fire and hold the launcher, the other to have the backpack to load them as needed for rapid killing of hardend targets.
11. If it kills the enemy, it can also kill your teammates and likely you, this goes especialy for widerange barrages such as the 120mm and 360mm, both of which have a higher effective radius than the range you can throw.
12. If the Timer runs out the shuttle comes after 2 minutes.
Some small things I have noticed that others didn’t know;
13. You can heal others with your Stim. Move up to them if they are low on health and press E. Good if you still have extras and they are out.
14. Hold reload (R) to access the weapon customization for the gun you are holding. You can adjust firemode, scope zoom, firerate etc depending on the gun.
15. Press Q to Ping stuff, Hold it to access the communication wheel.
16. If you use the supply pack stratagem you can give your teammates supplies by walking up to them and pressing E on PC. What you might not know is that you can use them yourself by pressing 5 (not sure how you do this on PS).
17. You can follow golden lights and blue beeping support modules for Medals and Super Credits. It’s the fastest way I have found to unlock the fun weapons in the Warbonds outside of Hard Missions currently.
18. For the bugs atleast multiple enemy types can do this. The smallest orange bugs and atleast one of the middle-sized ones. You see them spewing pheromones or whatever in the air and then the breach appears. There appears to be no particular rhyme or reason to which bug in a patrol group does this call-in, but most enemy types simply can’t do it. Killing an entire patrol quickly also ensures no followup battle.
19. Heed the Scout: there’s an armor that allows your map pings to reveal enemies near them. If you see someone with the Scout armor and they keep pinging weird places, they are probably trying to tell you which patrols to avoid.
20. Charger hitboxes are finnicky at best, your shots somehow bounce off even if you hit visibly the exposed chiting (from destroyed armor). The only place it works consitently is against its front legs. A single Recoiless rocket + a few regular shots at a leg will down the Charger.
21. If you see someone pick the Recoiless Rifle or Autocannon during briefing, be a chad: pick up the backpack, stay close to them and reload their weapon every time they fire. The reload is much faster than if they do it by themselves, and you’ll never have to worry about Chargers ever again. Just make sure you’re really invested in your role, as a Recoiless user I’d rather take time to reload than be left in the dirt with no rockets because my teammate scampered off.
22. Hold the Reload button for alternate weapon functions, like scope zoom, flashlight and rate of fire. Some weapons have 0, some have 3+.
23. Not sure how this works on PS4, but on PC, most keybinds can have their “modifier” changed (hold, press, tap etc.). For instance, by default, Sprint is bound to Hold Shift. I changed it by clicking the “Hold” part and selected “Press”, that way I don’t have to keep Shift pressed to run.
24. You don’t have to bind the Scope function to anything if you don’t want to. There’s an option to have a light Aim press trigger the scope, and a long press to regular aiming.
25. Seriously, check the options thoroughly. There are tons of good stuff to be found in there to tailor your HUD and controls to your tastes.
Experiences from friends:
26. Throw resupply’s ahead of where you are running to, to avoid wasting time waiting for the resupply to land
27. Going prone drops your visibility so low, that patrols (bugs and automatons) will walk past meters away from you, oblivious to your presence
28.Eagles, excluding the 500kg bomb, come in perpendicular to the direction, that you’re facing when thrown. So if squad members are either side and ahead of you, it’s a good chance, an eagle will hit them
29. Orbital railcannon can be dropped right next to friendlies, without worrying about friendly fire
30. When defending, EMS and Mortar Sentries’ firing arc, can be used to follow where the enemy waves are coming from
31. When using a guard dog rover, having the high ground against the enemy, it is more likely to hit you, because of aiming at a downward angle in front of you, from over your shoulder. Workaround this, but facing uphill
32. Dropping Eagle Gas Strike and Eagle Napalm Strike on a bug breach, will kill most of them, or at least, drop their health close to death
33. Drop pods can kill heavily armoured enemies. If you are reinforcing, try to take out a medium or heavily armoured enemy, when you land, by guiding the pod
34. When using the flamethrower, only back up or strafe with it, to avoid setting yourself alight
35. Unexploded faulty hellbombs, you find in the landscape, can be shot to kill the enemy. Lead them towards it, and shoot once. There will be a delay, before the explosion
36. Using the armour with a radar passive, will help you find enemies on the map, by dropping a lot of pins. Use the radar booster to upgrade this feature to top tier, to be the best scout for the squad
37. Bug hole missions, can be easier done with a one of the squad using a grenade launcher or autocannon
38. You don’t need to extract, to complete the mission
39. You don’t need to extract, to receive the requisition slips
40. You don’t need to extract, to receive the medals
41. You don’t need to extract, to receive super credits
42. You don’t need to extract, to receive the base experience, only complete the main objective for the mission
43. You do need to extract, to receive any samples
44. Samples are carried by the squad member that collected them, but rewarded to all members, after extraction
45. It’s ok to pickup samples, someone else has dropped, because it is for the whole squad
46. Every requisition slip and medal goes to all squad members
47. You can dodge chargers by either jump pack / dive / collide with another charger or stun it with the railgun
48. The more heat or cold the environment is, better or worse your gun malfunctions will be
49. You can spam “orders” while emoting
50. Tesla towers cant hurt you in you prone
