Hey 8th graders! Are you a fan of the game Dungeons of Blood and Dream? Have you ever come across a Secret Room but weren’t sure what it was or what to do with it? Well, look no further! In this guide, I’ll be sharing all the information I know about Secret Rooms, including what you can find inside. Just a heads up, there will be spoilers, so proceed with caution. Let’s dive into the world of Secret Rooms together!
Where Do They Appear?
- Fountain Rooms
- Chest Rooms
- Shops
- Boss Rooms
- Secret Rooms without connecting hallway
(These two are fully connected, so no more secret rooms will be found on their walls)
How to Find Them
So… let’s explain that ambiguous title. Secret rooms can be see from afar by their darker sprites, but this isn’t always true. Depending on the color palette, you will NOT be able to find them.
This one is easy
This one isn’t
Just run against the suspected wall and watch for the hand to appear. It will not appear with hazards blocking the entrance, be it water, spikes, or acid. Just press interact and, BAM, you did it. Much less satisfying, but it works.
What’s in ’em?
- These caged imp guys (free loot and maybe potion)
- Monoliths (really annoying versions of normal rooms)
- Pots (could be a mimic, but it’s still worth it)
- Weapon Rocks (You have to find the good ones yourself)
- Gravestones (could have an enemy inside… but the loot)
- Coin Altars (honestly not very useful) {Need image}
- Boon Altars (WE ALWAYS BE SACRIFICING)
- Eater Altars (Don’t, just don’t. You’d sacrifice your maximum ring capacity?)
All of these will take you to an alternate floor with more name letters and loot, as far as I know, they only spawn in Secret Rooms.
- Portals (same texture for all of the secret ones)
- Down Hatches (Takes you to underground, watch out for camels. There is a portal down there too.) {No image yet}
- Up Hatches (Takes you to the dark space, spawn after killing a boss: The Necromancer {No image yet}
- Gold Altar (takes you to the realm of gold) {unlocked through speaking}
There’s More!
- Hazards (They exist here too)
- This Dude (kind of a bummer)
- Lore Slabs
- Lore Orbs
- Frog man’s tent (Just means you weren’t important enough to meet with him in the underground)
- You Can’t Run From Your Demons (Secret rooms do not let you pass in a hostile room)
Keep in mind that any normal enemy encounters can appear in a secret room.
That’s about all I know about Secret Rooms.
This is My First Guide
I made this guide because I absolutely love this game, I am a fan of everything it has to offer, especially the esoteric aspect of it, but I know that not everybody is a fan of games that are hard to understand and have very few guides.
I hope that this guide will be able to help people struggling in the dungeons enjoy the other aspects of the game while not being overwhelmed by the unknown aspects. Do keep in mind that this is subject to change as the game is updated.
Please please please, correct me on anything that is incorrect and I will update it when I can. Thank you in advance!
