Welcome to our guide for the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Volume 2: Volume 2 Achievement Guide. This article will provide you with a complete overview of all 47 achievements in the game, along with helpful links and resources. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or new to the series, this guide will help you unlock all the achievements in this highly-anticipated collection. Let’s dive in and conquer these achievements together!
Overview
One important note first of all: No Achievements are missable!
You do not need to follow this guide alongside a blind play. All achievements can be obtained on game files in the furthest possible story state. If you are playing casually, I’d recommend to atleast finish the story of all three games first, and then look at this guide for anything you may be missing.
This guide will use spoilers and be very explicit on details, so be warned!
Also be warned that getting all achievements in this game is a fairly lengthy endeavor, as you have to complete all 6 games present on this collection, and go well into the post-game on some.
I will often be referencing The Rockman EXE Zone[www.therockmanexezone.com], and you should too, for they are the best knowledge base with genuine true information about this series. A lot of other sites have incorrect info or are not nearly as detailed.
All that said, let’s get into it! Achievement Routine, set! Execute!
Mega Man Battle Network 4 – Progression
The Navis you face in the tournaments are divided into 3 types, of each of which there are two in each Tournament: Soul Navis, Non-Soul Navis and Generic Navis.
The collection gives you an achievement for every Non-Soul Navi. You will always face one Navi of each type as you battle your way to the top, meaning it takes a minimum of 2 playthroughs to get all of these achievements.
This section will cover all possible opponents and detail when you could face them.
Youthful Pride
Defeat TopMan in Mega Man Battle Network 4.
TopMan is a Navi fought in the Den Tournament. He’s a convenient opponent because the CyberTop gives you access to the AirHockey chips very early.
Now Who’s Useless?
Defeat SparkMan in Mega Man Battle Network 4.
SparkMan is a Navi fought in the Den Tournament. His scenario is the shortest one in the entire game, as there are only a set of amount of fixed codes you need to try.
They are:
1 8 6 3 5 4 6
1 5 6 3 5 4 6
9 6 8 1 3 4 5
9 6 5 1 3 4 5
7 3 7 4 2 6 2
Fire Fought!
Defeat BurnMan in Mega Man Battle Network 4.
BurnMan is an opponent in the Hawk/Eagle Tournament. If you were hoping for the collection to finally change his to BurnerMan, I’m afraid you’ve come up short.
Unstoppable Force
Defeat VideoMan in Mega Man Battle Network 4.
VideoMan is an opponent in the Hawk/Eagle Tournament.
Another pretty short scenario. In the Japanese v1.0 version of the game there was a cool glitch you could do to make it even shorter, but the collection uses JP v1.1. Though that does mean whenever you open the menu your step counter gets reset, and you won’t get encounters.
I’ve Had Enough of the Cold!
Defeat ColdMan in Mega Man Battle Network 4.
ColdMan is an opponent in the Red Sun / Blue Moon tournament.
Getting this scenario early on is pretty nice because this is where the NaviCust Part Battery is hidden.
You’re Open!
Defeat KendoMan in Mega Man Battle Network 4.
KendoMan is an opponent in the Red Sun / Blue Moon tournament.
Much like ColdMan, getting this scenario comes with its own little goodie in the form of a RegUp that’s not obtainable anywhere else. Make sure to grab it while you’re here!
Living with a Dark Soul
Complete Mega Man Battle Network 4 Red Sun.
The first of 6 whole “Complete the Game” achievements. This is unlocked when you beat Duo in BN4 Red Sun for the first time and does not require doing any of the post-game. That said, however, there are other achievements that do…
Defender of the Stars
Complete Mega Man Battle Network 4 Blue Moon.
Congratulations on the second go round! Thankfully BN4 is very short compared to the others, you can beeline the story in about two hours if you want. Keep in mind BusterMAX is on the table for all of these achievements.
Mega Man Battle Network 4 – Sidequests
Deeper into Darkness
Reach Undernet 5 in Mega Man Battle Network 4.
Undernet 5 is reached in the post-game of your third playthrough of BN4. It’s behind the “All Souls” gate in Undernet 4.
Funnily enough, this can technically be obtained early because there’s a small section of Undernet 5 reachable from Undernet 6. In Blue Moon, you have to go there for the ProtoMan scenario. Whoops.
With a Soul, Burning Bright
Accumulate 6 Souls in Mega Man Battle Network 4 Red Sun.
This goes hand-in-hand with the previous achievement. You will get your sixth soul in the Hawk / Eagle or Red Sun / Blue Moon tournament in playthrough 3, guaranteed. It is not possible to obtain any earlier than that.
Though I have heard reports that if you have another version send its Navis to the waiting room and you battle them all you will get this achievement? But I haven’t been able to confirm this.
The Red Sun’s Judgment
Use the RedSun chip in Mega Man Battle Network 4 Red Sun.
This is a freebie. RedSun is the Giga Chip you receive from Dad near the end of your first playthrough. Just use it in battle.
Stoic Spirit
Accumulate 6 Souls in Mega Man Battle Network 4 Blue Moon.
Not much to say here, except that yes, you do have to complete another 3 playthroughs of BN4. This is about the worst that this collection has to offer in terms of achievements though, so things are looking up from here.
Piercing Blue Moonlight
Use the BlueMoon chip in Mega Man Battle Network 4 Blue Moon.
Same as above. Did you know that you can increase RedSun/BlueMoon’s power with a feature called Version Battle?
Proof of Power
Collect every Standard Chip in Mega Man Battle Network 4.
This might be the toughest achievement in the set. BN4 has 150 Standard Chips to collect, and it’s no easy deal. Every new playthrough you do, the viruses on the Net upgrade, allowing you to get the 2 and 3 versions of a chip. It is technically possible to get this achievement on Playthrough 2 if you heavily use the 10 Chip Trader in ElecTown, but you’ll need a lot of fodder.
There’s a lot to tackle here. First of all, you will probably find the TREZ Chip Locations[www.therockmanexezone.com] tab useful. This details where to get every single chip.
As you can see, some things only drop from Mystery Data in future continues. A fixed (blue, purple) Mystery Data does not “advance” if it hasn’t been picked up in the previous playthrough. So in order to make sure you don’t miss any important Mystery Data or viruses, I have here a checklist for you.
Blue Moon Checklist[docs.google.com]
Red Sun Checklist[docs.google.com]
If you’re just starting up a new playthrough on the other version, you can make your own copy of this and tick things off as you go. Should you already have savefiles on both Red Sun and Blue Moon in Playthrough 3 but you’re missing some chips, then I recommend you use the TREZ page, and for anything that you can’t get anymore, use the 10 Chip Trader.
Keep in mind that V1 and V2 viruses are always around, even in playthrough 3! V1 viruses love hanging around minor comps and V2 viruses rarely appear in the correct areas on the net. Use TREZ’s Virus Location Guide[www.therockmanexezone.com] to find them if you need to! Good Luck!
Mega Man Battle Network 5 – Progression
Forging a Path
Complete Liberation Mission 2 in Mega Man Battle Network 5.
These achievements can be obtained on either version. Unfortunately though, you don’t get to slack on completing both versions, there’s still several achievements for playing both versions.
Strategy Forecast
Complete Liberation Mission 3 in Mega Man Battle Network 5.
There’s not much else to say about these achievements, so I’ll leave these achievement descriptions blank for now. You will get them as you beat the story. If you’re having trouble beating them, stock up on chips, look at a map for them right here[www.interordi.com] or use BusterMAX mode.
Threat Buster
Complete Liberation Mission 4 in Mega Man Battle Network 5.
Using Your Head
Complete Liberation Mission 5 in Mega Man Battle Network 5.
Tending To Your Wounds
Complete Liberation Mission 6 in Mega Man Battle Network 5.
Inherited Request
Complete Mega Man Battle Network 5 Team ProtoMan.
Congrats on your third game clear! You’re halfway! Keep this savefile around for a little longer…
And if you haven’t cleared the game yet: FloatShoes and ProtoChaos are your friend for this fight.
Beyond Help
Complete Mega Man Battle Network 5 Team Colonel.
And that’s Number 4! KnightChaos is a surefire way to victory in this fight.
I will never understand this achievement’s name though.
Mega Man Battle Network 5 – Sidequests
Righteous Soul
Use every Double Soul in Mega Man Battle Network 5 Team ProtoMan.
Thankfully, this is now simple enough. You’ll have all the Double Souls by the end of your playthrough, you just need to put the correct chips in your folder to unison with all of them at some point in your playthrough. You’ll probably get this while just playing normally.
Tempered Soul
Use every Double Soul in Mega Man Battle Network 5 Team Colonel.
Dark Chip Collector
Acquire every Dark Chip in Mega Man Battle Network 5.
Let me point you to TREZ[www.therockmanexezone.com] once again. There’s only 12 of these, so it’s conceivably simple.
Most of these are bought off of an NPC somewhere or a quiz reward.
A notable exception is DarkInvis, which can either be obtained via the Lotto Code 68799876 or is the end of a long trade chain. You will also need the Nebula-ID from an old Nebula member on SciLab for the BMD near LarkMan in Undernet 1.
Hm. That’s it for BN5 already. Onto BN6!
Mega Man Battle Network 6 – Progression
The Flames of Battle | Assailed by Rough Seas
Use Heat Cross in Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Gregar / Aqua Cross in Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Falzar.
BN6 has a lot of version-exclusive achievements, for using each of the Crosses. I’ll be listing them right alongside each other as they’re obtained at the exact same point in the game’s story.
The first is Heat / Aqua Cross. These are the tutorial crosses. They’re completely unmissable.
The Winning Edge | Whirlwind Welcomer
Use Slash Cross in Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Gregar / Tengu Cross in Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Falzar.
These scenarios are available when you first travel to Green Town as part of the JudgeMan scenario. Talk to Pat Fahran or Master Feng-Tian on the log near the pond in the town.
High Voltage Hijinks | Wield the Power of the Earth!
Use Elec Cross in Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Gregar / Tomahawk Cross in Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Falzar.
These can be obtained once you first travel to Sky Town as part of the Element Man scenario. Talk to Ann Zap / Dingo at the heliport to start the scenario.
Steam Train Coming Through | Time To Take Out The Trash!
Use Charge Cross in Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Gregar / Dust Cross in Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Falzar.
These Crosses can be obtained shortly after finding the MoonStone in Undernet 2. Talk to Al Ferry / Mr. Press in the Aquarium by the animal cages to start the scenario. Be sure to be quick about, once Mega Man goes feral you’ll have to wait until postgame to get it!
Stealthy Assassin | Crush Them All!
Use Erase Cross in Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Gregar / Ground Cross in Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Falzar.
These can be obtained at the same time as the previous two. Talk to Dark Scythe / Mr. Moliarty in the second lab in the school, on the teacher’s side to start the scenario.
Toward a New Future
Complete Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Gregar.
Almost done! Did you know that Gregar has two hitboxes in his center row, both of which can be hit at the same time? HeatCross makes short work of this fight.
Forging a New Tomorrow
Complete Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Falzar.
Congratulations are in order! If you’ve made it to this point, that’s every game complete! Time to wrap things up with the last couple sidequest achievements!
Mega Man Battle Network 6 – Sidequests
Virus Challenger
Earn your first Virus Battle win in Mega Man Battle Network 6.
The Virus Battler sidequest is started by purchasing the Battler Card in the blackboard of Class 1-2.
After you’ve bought it, you can find “Rare Viruses” in specific areas. Each virus can be found in a rare form somewhere on the Net or in a major Comp area.
There are two versions of Rare Viruses. The first will start showing up once you’ve deleted 16 of that species of virus, the second will show up once you’ve defeated 32 of that species of Virus. Finding and defeating either of those will add that virus to your Battler Card.
You can then start fighting special Mr. Progs in specific minor Comps. The very first one is in the RoboDog from the start of the game. Beat it and net yourself this achievement!
Virus Master
Defeat Gold Mr. Prog in a Virus Battle in Mega Man Battle Network 6.
You’ll definitely need a stronger army for this.
For where to find every rare virus, look here[www.therockmanexezone.com] or here[www.therockmanexezone.com].
As far as strategies go, EarthDragon will solo most fights if you have it. StarFish pairs well with KillerEye or HoneyBomber. PulseBulbs are also very strong. You shouldn’t need any help beating the very first one though. Remember that the opposing viruses share HP so you can gang up on one and exploit its weakness!
This speedrun route[pastebin.com] may also help you, though the fights aren’t 100% consistent. You might be able to find a guide on YT if you need to.
The next Progs to battle are found, in order: Water Machine Comp (Seaside Town), Punish Chair Comp (Green Town), Oxygen Tank Comp (Sky Town), Central Area 1 (Internet).
Face the golden Prog in Central 1 and achieve victory over Blast Man for this achievement!
Arriving at Eternal Rest
Get into the Graveyard in Mega Man Battle Network 6.
This is an interesting achievement, as the conditions to get there change between the original English version and the one that the Collection is based on, which is the Japanese version.
In the collection, you need to beat the game and then acquire the “MchnSwrd” chip. It’s dropped by DarkMechs, who frequently appear in Undernet 2. Use the Collect NCP from the same area for the best experience.
Then, just open the door at the top of Undernet 2 and claim your achievement!
Everyone’s Hero
Complete all Requests (including event cards) and trade sequences in Mega Man Battle Network 6.
This is a pretty long-winded one if you haven’t been chipping away at these as you went through the game. For step-by-step instructions on each request, this guide[gamefaqs.gamespot.com] is very helpful.
As the name implies, this does require you to use Patch Cards to unlock some extra requests. (Which may in turn unlock another achievement for you)
Another thing you need to do for this achievement is complete all Trade Sequences. There’s also quite a few of those. Refer to TREZ[www.therockmanexezone.com] once more for the full list. There’s one long trade sequence and four individual trades. Couple that with the trades you need to do for requests and you really end up having to give a number of chips away…
That said, part with them all and you can nab yourself the final game-specific achievement!
Cross-Game and Collection
Power Up!
Use atleast one Download Chip or Patch Card in every game.
This achievement couldn’t be easier. In every game, go to the MegaMan screen and press Y to open up the menu for all the built-in extra content. Download one of the special event-exclusive chips or use a Patch Card for one of many different effects and nab yourself an easy achievement!
Audio Aesthetic
Use the Music Player to listen to one or more songs from each game.
Again, simple enough. In the main menu of the Collection, use the Music Player to listen to atleast one song from BN4, BN5, BN6 and the Collection itself. Easy!
NetBattle Extraordinaire
Take part in more than 100 NetBattles.
Let’s be real, there is no way you don’t have this achievement if you’ve done everything else so far. If you’ve somehow completed all 6 games on this Collection without getting into 100 encounters, including boss fights, then I think you’re a statistical anomaly and you should consider visiting the lottery. Now go and get into some random encounters on the net!
No Surprises Here!
Earn your first S-Rank in an in-game battle.
Much like the above, I salute the possibility of completing BN4’s Standard Library without getting a single S-Rank. It might be an interesting challenge to do so.
To give you the brief rundown of how Ranks work, just in case, it’s determined by how many spaces you move, how much time you take, and whether you flinch. Move more than twice, or take more than 5 seconds, or take a hit, and your rank goes down.
You can up your Rank by deleting multiple viruses within frames of each other (by using time-stopping chips for instance) or, as of BN6, by counterhitting.
Bosses work differently. Delete them within 30 seconds without flinching for an S-Rank.
Note how I’m specifically saying flinching, not getting hit. NCPs that negate the flinch effect such as SprArmr are your absolute bestest friends when it comes to getting a good rank.
Rank starts at 9 in every battle and can go down to 1 if you do terribly or up to S if you do well. It’s 1 > 2 > … > 10 > S. If you beat a virus fight with a double delete in less than 5 seconds while having moved less than 3 spaces without getting hit, that’s an S.
Might seem complicated at first, but once you have it down it’s rather simple.
Net Adventurer
Jack in more than 100 times.
At this point you’re just pulling my leg. But it’s here for completeness’ sake anyway. Technically you could force this very early but you will be jacking in well over 1000 times to complete this entire collection. So save yourself the trouble.
A Chip’s True Value
Successfully activate a Program Advance.
A Program Advance is a combination of three or more chips slotted in one after another that forms a special combination. The game hints you towards many of these. Often times, the same chip is available in 3 different, alphabetically sequential codes. That’s a surefire way to tell there’s a PA hiding there. Sometimes there’s pretty wacky combinations though.
If you haven’t found any of them yet, you can consult TREZ for
BN4 PAs[www.therockmanexezone.com]
BN5 PAs[www.therockmanexezone.com]
BN6 PAs[www.therockmanexezone.com].
Execute any of them in battle and nab yourself the penultimate achievement!
An Eternal Bond
Complete Mega Man Battle Network 4, 5 and 6.
Complete the main story of each of the three entries. Only one version is required for this specifically.
Ending
I hope you’ve enjoyed this series as much as I do, and maybe you’re gonna dig for some more of the postgame content not covered by any of the achievements, there’s plenty!
This collection really features a lot of progression achievements and no terribly complicated challenges, but it does make you play 6 Continues of BN4 and also play both versions of the other games to the end. It’s kind of unfortunate because it’s a little bit of a slog and I feel like there’s so many more unique things they could’ve done with the achievements instead. But hey, it is what it is.
I hope this guide was helpful to you nonetheless! I didn’t really want to go into details on the basics of playing and beating the game too much moreso than covering the achievements themselves, so there wasn’t a lot to say. But if you’re reading this then that probably means you were interested enough to read the rest, so thank you!
That’ll be all from me. Perhaps if we get a Star Force collection in the future you’ll read from me again. Until then, take care!
And that wraps up our share on Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Vol. 2: Volume 2 Achievement Guide (MMBN Legacy Collection).
