WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition: |Sunlocks Light|

The stars shined bright in the pitch black sky, the moon a luminous white, Sunny stood, her back cracking in the process making her yelp a bit as she went to her grown son. “You alright there sweetheart?” her voice shaky from old age, Sunlock glanced over, gazing at her mothers dark yellow eyes, much like of his own “yeah..I’m probably going to disperse tomorrow” Sunlocks high-pitched puppy voice came out on accident, Sunny rested her head on her sons shoulder “you should go to Slough Creek….there are only three packs there currently and..and there is unclaimed land” she laid down “good night, Sunlock” she closed her eyes, falling asleep. Sunlock curled beside her, taking a moment to stare at her sleeping body before drifting to sleep as well, he dreamed of his original father, Sunburn that greeted him with a smile and before waking up there was his mother, but why?….

Sunlock awakened from the suns glow, it was morning, he yawned stretching his still sleeping muscles, he knows his mother is always awake before him and turned his head gazing down moms still asleep? he thought. Sunlock lowered his cranium and nudged Sunny “mom? mom it’s morning?” he whispered into her ear, waiting a few seconds, panic rose in his fur “mom?! mom wake up!” Sunlock whined and pressed his forehead against her cold, lifeless body as tears formed in his eyes. Sunil, Sunnys current mate rushed over and whined “I….she’s gone..she is with your actual father now…” Sunil cried. Sunlock gazed over at the current years pups and sighed “I’m going to disperse now..I can’t bare to see mom dead” his voice low as he trotted off into the forest North…

After traveling for days, Sunlock reached Slough creek, his paws sore, his paw pads cracked and bleeding, he gazed down into the valley with his dark yellow eyes so this is Slough Creek huh? Mmm I’m starving….” his thoughts faded as he padded down the hill in search of helpless prey. What should I hunt? Pronghorn? No. They’re too fast. Mule deer? Still too fast. Hmm I know! I’ll hunt some elk if there is any around here… his head turned from side-to-side and soon an elk herd in sight “aha! found them!” Sunlock cheered slowly approaching, crouching low when he got close. The elk couldn’t sense the wolf until…Sunlock leaped with a snarl, scaring the herd and soon the chase began. One cow elk fell, landing on her side, Sunlock took his chance and sunk his teeth into her thigh, but soon got kicked off once the cow elk got up. Chasing and chasing into stranger wolves territory, he grabbed the elks ankle, slowing it down and soon reached to her shoulder. The cow elk would stop. Turn and. *slash* the cow elk fractured the wolves left leg, Sunlock whimpered and fell back, but soon anger replaced it and launched at the elks throat and tugged at it, the cows eyes rolled back and fell lifeless, he howled and tore the fur off and enjoyed its flesh against his teeth. After eating, Sunlock trotted back South out of stranger territory and fell flat onto the ground, exhausted. Sunlocks eyes close, his conscious leaving as he fell asleep…

Sunlock sat up, the sun now only rising and yet again. Hungry. He set off back North, stumbling across another elk herd another one? right here. right now. that makes it so easy, heh. Sunlock licked his lips and pounced onto a calf, tearing at its shoulder, the mother came running and swung her hoof, but he dodged, making the cow elk hit her own child, the calf cried out in pain. The elk herd went running. Sunlock held his tail high and tore the calves throat showing how confident he was, the cow elk fell into tears as she turned and ran off did I just?..no…never mind, food is food Sunlock lowered his cranium and began to eat, soon to go back South again for the second time and climbed a small rock, just large enough to lay on, he closed his eyes and fell back asleep….

Sunlock opened his eyes, the suns light showered on his dark coat and made it more visible, he breathed in, the air colder, winter was approaching fast. Standing up on three legs he set off, running and running to find a female to be mates with so he can make his mother proud. Sunlock unknowingly wandered into stranger territory, after awhile he was met by four females, one an alpha, one a yearling and two subordinates, one of the subordinates seemed interested in him. “oh uh..h-hello” Sunlock showed no signs of aggression, a female with burn marks, having amber eyes, her black that fades to a light grey that appears the same age as the dispersal. “I don’t trust him” the yearling whispered to the alpha “mhm” the alpha agreed “we should kick his a-” “No” a female with light grey fur and a darker grey cape of fur with bright yellow eyes, the yearling grumbled with frustration. After an hour or two passed, Sunlock left the territory with one of the females to go on a trial with “I’m hungry!” the female snapped “yeah yeah I know, me too. There should be some elk Northwest of here, that’s where I find the most elk laying about” Sunlock took a small glance at her “well, as we head there..I am Ixchel” Ixchel introduced herself “I’m Sunlock” Sunlock gave a half smile, they would chat as they moved to find an elk herd…

They finally found an elk herd, Sunlock looked down at his fractured leg and sighed I can’t give up just because an elk broke my leg bone in half his paws pressed forward and soon the two wolves lunged at the elk as they fled. Ixchel latched onto one, Sunlock joined in, the elk screeched in pain and went onto its hind legs as it kicked the wolves off with its front legs, Sunlock snarled, snapping his jaws and sunk his teeth into the elks front leg. Ixchel clamped the throat trying to suffocate it but she was kicked off, Sunlock launched himself forward and put all his weight onto the elk, it fell to the ground with a large thud, the elk laid lifeless as it bled from the wounds “Nice work” Ixchel grinned showing her now blood-coated fangs “You did great as well” Sunlock wagged his tail confidently, they both tore into the elk corpses skin, tugging it and it ripped open, they ate at peace until…a cougar came. Sunlock barked, Ixchel growled warning the cougar “I don’t think we should pick a fight with the-” Sunlock began, but Ixchel bit the cougar anyways “-cougar…” his voice trailed off. Sunlock bit the cougars hind leg, but after that only tried to intimidate it, Ixchel would continue to attack and soon the cougar ran off, they finished eating and ran away and slept, days passed. Sunlocks broken leg healed and his bond with Ixchel grown, a day later, they officially became mates…
