Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands – First Steps in the Game
While the game may seem familiar to Borderlands fans with its chaos and mayhem, there are some differences you should know before diving headfirst into Gearbox Software’s latest creation.
Hopefully, these tips and tricks will help you enjoy Tina’s wonderful world to the fullest.
Multi-class
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has a huge variety of character classes, primarily due to the game’s multi-class system. This means that even after choosing a primary role, you can supplement and expand it with a second class after the game begins. And by choosing both classes, you can determine the direction and balance of character development with the help of active skills, class mastery, and numerous skill trees.
Melee
Even though the game is stuffed with all sorts of good old guns that have already become Gearbox’s calling card, melee weapons cannot be discounted – they play a key role in your adventures in the world of Wonderland. Swords, axes, hammers and other types of melee weapons in the game are an effective tool that can defeat crowds of enemies nearby. There is also something for enemies a little further away – attack their clusters with a swirling whirlwind.
Modifiers can be applied to melee weapons that affect ranged weapons and spells. For example, a sword strike can also provide extra ammo or reduce the cooldown of a spell.
Spells
Big guns and sharp swords are great, but spells are also worth considering. How about creating a mini-tornado or fireball? Or maybe you prefer to summon a spawn? Using spells is vital for dealing maximum damage, and they can also be used to protect or buff teammates.
Equipment
In Wonderland, there are amulets that can be picked up on the battlefield and used. There are three amulet manufacturers in the game. The capacity of the “Toxin” amulets is smaller than the others, but they recharge faster. “Pangoblin” on the other hand, have an impressive capacity, but recharge slowly. Well, “Hyperium” amulets, when fully charged, provide unique bonuses, such as defeating enemies that hit you or increasing your shots.
Rings and amulets in the game are not just cute trinkets to complete the hero’s image: two rings you choose enhance equipment, and an amulet gives special effects.
Character Customization
When creating a character, you will need to distribute points between six main stats, which then change depending on which of the five backgrounds you choose.
You can either customize your character’s appearance manually or use random generation until you like the result. After that, it’s time to choose your character’s personality traits. This will later affect your interactions with many characters in Wonderland.
And finally, don’t forget to customize the banner that will be visible in many places in Brighthoof. It will appear in the World when you capture a certain area. After playing for a while, be sure to go back to the appearance customization, as killing enemies can give you some very interesting design options.
Endless Play
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has a great feature in the endgame called the Chaos Chamber. It creates a unique gaming experience for you by mixing three random dungeons, a boss fight, three more dungeons, and finally a boss fight. By completing these maps, you will receive great equipment and more.
Where to find the best weapons and spells in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, like other Borderlands games, has a huge variety of weapons. And each weapon has its own characteristics and power level. With so much variety, it can be confusing, so we’ve put together this short Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands guide, in which we’ve collected the best weapons and spells.
Best weapons in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
Every time a player kills an enemy or opens a chest, they’ll be greeted by an explosion of colors that indicate the quality (and relative power level) of the item. This rainbow of rarity helps gamers immediately determine which loot they should grab. Not only do these super rare items typically do more damage than other weapons and spells, many of them have unique abilities that set them apart from regular shotguns and sniper rifles.
Since every weapon and spell in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, including the Legendary ones, have prefixes and suffixes that change their stats, not every item is suitable for every playstyle. That said, here are some of the best Legendary weapons and spells that are likely to be useful no matter your class or playstyle.
Weapons
The Masterwork Hand Bow is an unassuming weapon that deals massive damage, but is hampered by a long reload animation and a laughable single-bolt clip. However, this pistol shines whenever it scores a critical hit.
Not only does the weapon deal an impressive amount of critical damage, but six bolts magically ricochet to a nearby enemy whenever you score a critical hit. Plus, every critical hit refunds the ammo spent (eliminating the need to reload). If you maximize your critical strike chance, the Master’s Hand Bow essentially becomes an “eternal mob-stopping weapon” that deals death as quickly as if you were swinging a hammer.
If you want your own Master’s Hand Bow, your best bet is to farm the Shrine Piece – Grindanna. However, some players have also reported that this item can drop from a random enemy.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderland introduces melee weapons to the Borderlands formula, which, like the game’s weapons, come in varying rarities. Apparently trying to make a good first impression, the developers made one of the game’s first legendary melee weapons one of the best weapons in the game.
On the visual side, the Goblin Pickaxe appears to be… well, just a regular pickaxe that can be used to mine minerals and resources. However, the weapon leans heavily into this theme thanks to its powerful buff that causes gold to pour out of your enemy every time you land a hit. As if that weren’t enough, collecting this gold increases your movement speed and the cooldown of your actions and skills. What’s more, this buff stacks up to 5 times, so the more gold you hoard, the faster you get it.
Most players report finding this item on the corpse of Pigwart, the boss of Mount Crow’s Ancient Obelisk.
Top Weapons
In Borderlands, reloading a weapon isn’t always as boring as just inserting a new clip. Some weapons do incredible things during their seemingly simple reload animation (like a weapon that turns into a grenade). Well, one of the best submachine guns in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands continues this trend of unexpectedly reloading weapons in some of the coolest ways possible.
The Shadowfire is a submachine gun that fires explosive balls that turn into a pillar of hellfire. That’s not bad on its own, but if your aim is right, the weapon gets even better. If an enemy is hit/killed by this blast, the next instance of Shadowfire fires even faster. Sure, you’ll have to reload it sooner, but that means you can turn it into another dark magic grenade that can melt enemies.
By far the most reliable way to get the Shadowfire SMG is through the Chamber of Chaos (either by opening the final chest or by feeding the statues at the end).
Where to Find Resurrectionist
Tiny Tina’s Wonderland is pretty easy to stay alive, as the game has regenerating shields and a system that allows you to revive yourself by killing nearby enemies. However, sometimes you’ll just need a little health regeneration.
The Resurrectionist spell is one of the few support spells in the game, and it does exactly what it says: instantly heals and revives allies. The spell may have a long cast time, but the ability to bring allies back from the brink of death is worth it. What’s more, Resurrectionist works on both teammates and class pets, so pretty much everyone can get something out of it.
No one has found a reliable source of farming this spell yet. Resurrectionist can drop pretty much anywhere (including random junk piles).
Where to Find the Frying Pan in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds changed the way frying pans were seen in video games forever by making them bulletproof. Considering how often Borderlands likes to reference other video games, it makes sense that the PUBG frying pan would eventually appear in a game in the series. And that game was Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
As an offensive tool, this weapon is pretty weak. However, you’ll probably use this legendary weapon not to smash enemy skulls, but rather to protect your own. When not in use, the frying pan reduces the damage of all incoming bullets and projectiles by 90% (as long as they hit your back). Additionally, the weapon has a 15% chance to deflect bullets. However, if you start swinging the frying pan, the deflection chance increases to 90%.
To get the frying pan, you’ll need to farm the Master Tonhammer.
Where to Find Lil K’s Bread Slicer
Most assault rifles in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands are pretty basic. You use them to fire a continuous stream of bullets, and if you miss with those bullets, you’ll lose some ammo. It’s a basic setup, and Lil K’s Bread Slicer clearly doesn’t agree with that.
While the Bread Slicer spews out tons of projectiles, the weapon trades the bullets for circular saws that move in an arc. You’d think that would limit the Bread Slicer’s range, but the projectiles make up for it by bouncing off whenever they hit a wall or the ground. What’s more, the weapon fires three saws at once, and they can even pass through enemies to slice up even more foes.
Even when you find a weapon that’s supposed to do more damage per bullet, Lil K’s Bread Slicer will outdo them in pure carnage.
Unfortunately, finding the bread slicer is done in the game world, so it can be a bit of a challenge, but at least you can find it on any random enemy.
Where to find the Realm of Arrows shotgun
In most shooters, shotguns are close-range weapons that specialize in explosive damage: the closer you are to an enemy, the more likely you are to turn them into meat mush. However, since Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands makes every weapon as magical as it is technological, some legendary shotguns break the mold entirely.
The Realm of Arrows is arguably one of the least fuel-efficient weapons in the game. Each shot uses up six shotgun shells, and the gun only holds six at a time. What effect could possibly justify consuming so much ammo? Why the ability to summon magical arrows that pierce the area around where the shotguns land, that’s what. Any enemy that remains in the range of the Arrow Realm is slowly torn apart by damaging shrapnel, and since you can fire the weapon multiple times, you can make the arrows overlap for longer, more lethal traps. Chances are, enemies will run out of health before you run out of ammo.
Some players have gotten the Arrow Realm from the Chamber of Chaos, while others claim it’s a world drop. You might have to consider yourself lucky if you find this shotgun.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands – Class Guide and Their Traits
One of the first skills available increases spell critical chance, and the finishing skill offers a flat 15% chance for each critical hit to reset all spell cooldowns.
Many of the Spellbinder’s other skills change the interaction of spells and weapon damage in some way, usually revolving around either reducing cooldowns, adding damage to each other, or flat bonuses to sell damage or weapon damage per Spellbinder stack.
The Spellbowler class only has one active skill: Polymorph, which turns any non-boss enemy into a Skip (a floating sheep with googly eyes), and while said enemy is floating uselessly, the Spellbowler gains stacks and has a chance to cast a free spell whenever they deal weapon damage.
If an enemy is unaffected by Polymorph, meaning every boss and some mini-boss enemies, the ability still activates, but instead of transforming the enemy, the free spell is cast immediately. They also gain two stacks immediately after using the ability if it doesn’t turn anything into a Skip.
For players who enjoy turning enemies into barely sentient farm animals, Polymorph is the way to go, as the spell can temporarily remove powerful non-boss threats from the game for eight seconds, or cast your favorite spell for free.
The Spellbowler’s other ability isn’t an active skill at all. Instead, Two-Handed Enchantment removes the active skill trigger entirely and replaces it with a second spell. Casting your second spell removes your weapon for the duration of the cast and eliminates the ability to activate any enchantment that requires action skills.
Two-Handed Enchantment is intended for a build that maximizes spell damage and reduces spell cooldowns as much as possible.
The core of the Graveward class set revolves around the use and enhancement of Shadow magic and Shadow damage. Each tick of Shadow damage heals the caster, and increasing the effectiveness of Shadow magic only increases the healing provided.
The Graveward class also comes with a Half-Lion pet that uses ranged Shadow attacks every time you cast a spell. You can create other temporary Dark Hydra companions that can also increase your damage the more you are on the field.
Pairing with companion classes (Claw Knight or Sporemonger) can be fun, but the Graveward deals Shadow damage on its own.
The class’s Action Skills add a relationship between health loss and gain.
Grim Sacrifice, you spend 40% of your current total health to deal Shadow damage and apply a Shadow status condition to nearby enemies.
This is a good option if you want to wipe out all mobs around you in one hit. The skill has no active effects, but it does have a short cooldown. When set up correctly, you can use Grim Sacrifice every ten seconds or less, turning yourself into a reusable Dark Magic bomb. Fun, but not the most effective for boss fights.
Bone Reaper deals steadily increasing DoT damage to you and increases all your Shadow damage and Lich effectiveness while the ability is active. Coincidentally, the ability lasts as long as your health bar. And since Dark Magic heals you, you can potentially keep Bone Reaper up for much longer than any other active skill in the game. There are many different enchantments that require your Action Skill to be active, so the damage potential is obscene when you combine the increased damage from Bone Reaper, Enchantment, and the extra Dark Magic bonus from the Child of the Grave skill tree. Even when you run out of health while using Bone Reaper, you gain 20% of your maximum health and are invulnerable for 3 seconds.
Several skills in the Child of the Grave class tree affect your spell damage, so you can add as many Dark Magic spells as you like to increase your character’s effectiveness. The Keystone skill activates all of your character’s kill skills when you cast a spell, which can add three or four extra kill skill bonuses for the cost of one spell cast.
If you have ways to reduce the cooldown of your spell and action skills, you can activate your kill skills indefinitely, and Bone Reaper will be ready at a moment’s notice.
There are two main focuses for the Sporeman class: companion or gun damage. Of the two, gun damage is probably the most consistent, as most Sporeman skills modify your weapon in some way. Pairing your weapon damage with universal enchantments or gun damage spells can make for a poor build even compared to other classes.
There’s even a movement speed kill skill that will let you walk a mile a minute when paired with a Knifemancer or Brr-Zerk class, avoiding attacks and dealing damage in equal, but ungodly amounts.
Sporeman action skills are very useful for increasing damage of all kinds.
Arrow Flurry summons a spirit bow with seven arrows pre-loaded. You can fire the arrows three times before the ability goes on cooldown.
Blizzard is great for Cryomancer builds, as it creates three ice cyclones that seek out nearby enemies. If you have ways to pump up your cold damage with spells and weapons, then the Blizzard can be a good starter that adds a little extra energy and area control.
In addition to the weapon damage skills that take up almost half of the Sporemonger tree, the class also has companion damage and ability buffs. Since the Sporemonger’s mushroom companion deals poison damage, you can pair it with any of the other companion classes for a build that focuses on at least two elements. Most classes with companions also buff your character’s damage along with your pets.
If you’re adding additional companion skills to your Sporemonger build, it’s best to go all-in. There aren’t enough skill points available to fully dive into weapon and companion customization, but there are plenty of enchantments and gear that can buff your little buddies.
With the Medicinal Shrooms skill, your companion can attempt to revive you if you go down, and will take increased damage if they do. The skill can be especially useful in difficult boss fights or fights with a limited number of mobs.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands – Class Guide and Their Traits 2
Most of the Talon Knight’s class skills also increase your character’s damage whenever they increase Wyvern damage, usually as an increase to weapon or elemental damage. There is only one skill, Awe, on the penultimate branch of the tree, which increases critical damage or chance. Talon Knight’s abilities do not rely on crit, so Awe is not needed unless you choose a secondary class like the Knifemancer, which makes full use of critical damage.
The most important choice you have to make when starting a Talon Knight is to choose whether to deal bonus damage from Fire or Lightning, and whether to use melee or ranged, as the Action Skills offered favor one or the other.
Cleansing Flames slams a large hammer that creates an explosion of Fire damage. This is your melee damage, starting spell active skill ability. This skill has a slightly longer cooldown than the other active skill, but if you want a quick burst of damage, then Cleansing Flames is the one for you.
Storm Drake’s Judgment, you throw a large hammer at enemies that deals melee damage and creates an orb of continuous Lightning damage. You can also return the hammer to your hand to reduce the cooldown of the skill.
Compared to Cleansing Flames, the former has more general utility. That said, Lightning damage isn’t as useful overall as, say, Fire or Frost, so one of its best uses is as a catalyst for Action Skill enchants. Stack a few Action Skill Cooldown buffs and you’ll be back in action in no time.
Add in a keystone skill from the Talon Knight, and you’ll deal Fire and Lightning damage to nearby enemies whenever you use your Action Skill. Elemental damage is king in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, and the Talon Knight may be the king of raw elemental damage. It doesn’t specialize like the Brr-Zerk or Sporemaster classes, but it does offer plenty of additional options.
At first glance, the Brr-Zerk seems like a great option among classes for a Frost build (and it is), but its skill tree has a lot of utility that works for almost any setup. It offers a little bit of everything: movement speed, health regeneration, direct damage, and resistance bonuses.
However, the skill list doesn’t say anything about the powerful Frost damage buffs this class can provide. With all the strong Frost damage spells, weapons, and abilities in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, it’s hard to argue with adding a little Brr-Zerk to any build you make with another class.
One caveat is that the Brr-Zerk class is designed to be face-to-face with your enemy as much as possible. Ranged combat is not this class’s forte, as both of its Action Skills put you right in the thick of the action.
Wind of Terror You spin around for six seconds, swinging your melee weapon wildly in a circle. Any gear that increases Ability and melee damage can make this active skill extremely deadly, and be sure to use a Frost melee weapon to take advantage of all the buffs in the class skill tree. The damage potential, even for just six seconds, is incredible.
Wild Leap. You leap towards an enemy and slam your melee weapon, dealing Frost damage immediately around you.
Any non-boss enemy killed by the strike instantly resets all cooldowns, allowing you to strike again and again if there are enemies to kill. This ability works great with any starting active skill enchantments or builds that rely on burst damage and ability spam.
Using an Action Skill as a Brr-Zerk also causes you to enter a state of Enrage, which further increases your Frost damage and doubles the effects of certain skills.
If you can reduce the cooldown of your Action Skills so that they are active almost constantly, you can maintain Enrage, which increases damage, movement speed, and health regeneration indefinitely. Even if you can’t stay Enraged forever, the passive buffs to all of these stats are more than enough to recommend the Brr-Zerk class.
There’s nothing special about the Knifemancer class feat. Its effect is simple: increase your critical strike chance by 30%. It then buffs almost everything else you can do in the game, save for dark magic, health regeneration, and elemental damage. Weapon damage, movement speed, melee damage, status damage, critical damage – it’s all there.
The lack of health regeneration can be a significant drawback if your secondary class doesn’t have it either, but ideally you kill everyone before it becomes an issue. Both active skills help solve this particular problem.
Phantom Blade – Summons a spectral blade that spins in place, dealing melee damage to any enemy unfortunate enough to be caught inside it. You can use five percent of the active skill’s duration to reposition the blade if your target moves too much. Melee damage builds will love this ability, as will anyone who wants an active skill with a longer duration. Spectral Blade has a total duration of 16 seconds, so any active skill enchantments will work here too.
As good as Spectral Blade is, Strike from the Shadows can beat it in almost every way. When activated, it puts your character into stealth mode for 8 seconds and turns every tick of damage you deal into a critical strike.
You’ll lose 25% of your critical damage, but you can quickly get all of that back and more with a few enchantments and some other skills in the Knifemancer tree. You’ll likely feel some loss in damage, but compared to the number of ways you can increase your damage from guns, melee, and elemental damage, 25% is nothing.
One of the other important skills in the Knifemancer class tree is Elusiveness, which allows you to shoot while running. Use Elusiveness along with Swift Death, which increases your damage the faster you move, and any other movement speed buff from Brr-Zerk can further increase your build’s effectiveness.
Remember that the Knifemancer increases status damage, so whenever one of your elemental weapons starts dealing DoT damage, the DPS potential of a proper Knifemancer build is hard to understand until you see it.
There are a thousand other nuances to all the classes in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, but this guide will only cover some of the main features of each class when starting or adding a second class mid-game.
What characteristics to upgrade
Note: Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands allows you to combine classes, so we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the best combinations and synergies.
Strength modifies critical damage. A critical hit by default means double damage, and increasing Strength increases that damage by a fixed percentage.
For example, 30 Strength provides a 25% increase to critical damage. Every class benefits from having good Strength, but some builds like Knifemancer and Spellbinder benefit very little, so it doesn’t make sense for them to level Strength.
Dexterity increases your chance of a critical hit. Every time you hit an enemy with anything, be it a melee weapon, a spell, or a gun, there is a chance that it will score a critical hit.
Higher Dexterity increases this chance by a fixed percentage. Putting points into Dexterity is a good choice for almost any class, unless you have a way or weapon that can score guaranteed critical hits.
ntellect modifies the cooldown speed of spells. Every spell in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has a cooldown, most between 10 and 20 seconds.
Increasing Intellect reduces the cooldown by a fixed percentage, which stacks with other cooldown reduction abilities provided by some classes. If your build relies on magical attacks and spells, then it is definitely worth investing in Intellect. And the Spellbinder class benefits greatly from this stat.
Wisdom modifies status damage. Elemental damage over time is one of the best ways to increase your overall damage for a small upfront cost.
Each elemental weapon has a chance to apply its status effect on hit, and increasing your Wisdom increases the number of status DoT damage. However, Wisdom does not affect the duration of the effect. Wisdom is a priority stat for most Talon Knight builds.
Stamina increases your maximum health and defense. High Stamina means a flat bonus to your health and defense values.
You will need to invest at least a few points into Stamina to survive some of the limited health attacks that can kill you in one shot without a certain amount of health and defense. For this reason, it is good to invest a little bit into this hero stat.
Harmony changes the cooldown of your Action Skill. Instead of the Charisma stat, Wonderlands introduces Harmony, which directly affects the cooldown speed of your Action Skill.
Since many builds and builds rely on activating an Action Skill, it is a good idea to invest points in Harmony so that you can use your active skills and abilities more often.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands – Not Working Online? Solution
Every online game that is a huge success at launch can have a server load issue in one way or another, New World is a prime example. High server load prevents many players from connecting to the network and playing with others.
Note: The developers are currently working hard to fix this issue, as stated in their latest tweet.
If you are having trouble connecting to a multiplayer game, be sure to check the server status on the official SHiFT Twitter page. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it. You can only wait until the problem is fixed on the developer’s side.
Avoid Cross-Platform Play
In other cases, players can join multiplayer sessions, but get disconnected in the process. This usually happens to players who are trying to play on different platforms.
Since SHiFT servers are notoriously unstable when playing cross-platform, we strongly recommend connecting to multiplayer sessions with players who are using the same platform as you. At least for now.
PC players are also encouraged to use LAN sessions instead of the regular online mode. So let’s take a look at how you can make a LAN with internet access on your PC:
Download and install the free Radmin app
Go to the Network menu
Select the Create New Network option.
The admin should now create a new session.
Launch Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
Go to the Settings menu
Select the Play on LAN option.
Join the LAN session your admin created earlier
Some console players have also reported that disconnections between different platforms can be avoided if the session is created by console users, meaning PC users can simply join it. However, lags, pings, freezes, and stutters may occur during gameplay.
Link your SHiFT and platform accounts
There is also a possibility that SHiFT and platform accounts may not be properly managed and may not be linked properly, thus causing issues with cross-platform multiplayer connectivity.
If you want to create a new SHiFT account, follow these steps:
Go to the official SHiFT website.
Click on the “Create a new account” link.
Enter your email address and password.
Alternatively, you can register using one of the existing platform accounts: steam, xbox, epicgames, twitch, twitter, etc.
Then you need to link your accounts using the following procedure:
Launch Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
Go to the “Social Networks” menu.
Select the “SHIFT” option.
Enable the “Link Account” option.
Copy the unique numeric code from the screen.
Go to the SHiFT Linked Gaming web page.
Paste the copied unique code into the input window.
Restart the game
The last thing we can advise is to restart Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. The developers have recently implemented some updates to the network code and therefore advised all players trying to connect to the SHiFT servers to restart their game.
Also, try to avoid peak hours when the SHiFT servers are very busy. Therefore, we advise you to try to connect before 11:00 or after 17:00 local time.
