Must-Read Information
First 3 modes have similar loot, but Interloper & Misery have different loot conditions such as removed guns, tools and specific clothing from the game. That’s why map variant that is relevant for Voyageur won’t be as useful on Interloper.
With that said, almost every map is separated into 2 versions, 1 for Interloper & Misery and 1 for other difficulties, so players can choose suitable version for themselves. To see what map variant you are using, check the icons of difficulty modes below region name in the legend.
Also some regions have a spot where player can go fishing while being inside of a snow shelter. It gives +15C bonus to feels like temperature, provides a wind protection and lets you interact with fishing hole without leaving it.
- Always check the legend, which may have extra info about some elements of the map.
- Region maps were made and tested on DLC version of the game and there may be inconsistencies with these maps if you play on regular version, and for now there are no plans for making another variants specificaly for non-DLC game experience nor Explorer / Spoiler-free versions.
- Obviously, maps contain A LOT OF SPOILERS for Survival Mode of The Long Dark.
- Compass shows cardinal directions in terms of global map. DO NOT use ingame sun position for orientation, it can be wrong (sun raising on the west, etc).
Currently there are 8 updated maps: 5 major regions and 3 transition zones. The maps are being worked on and I update the guide as soon as the new map is ready.
ㅤ
Order of maps to be made:
Forlorn Muskeg –> Broken Railroad –> Mountain Town –> Hushed River Valley –>
–> Bleak Inlet –> Ash Canyon –> Keeper’s Pass (North & South) –> Blackrock –> DLC Regions
Currently making: Forlorn Muskeg
