In “The Good Life,” each shrine holds specific Oracle missions. Without the right knowledge, you may encounter tasks you’d rather avoid or ones that are simply deemed “impossible.” This detailed guide will map out Shrine locations and breaks down achievements linked to Oracle missions, ensuring you don’t miss the heart of “The Good Life.” So let’s get started.
Intro
«Oracles» is a a set of missions that can be taken once a week in each of the Shrines. These missions offer cash rewards and typically come in three to five difficulty levels: Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert, and Master.
Here’s the catch: you can only take five at a time, and the mystery lies in not knowing what each oracle contains until you accept it (cue the guide for help). Interestingly, you can also opt to wait a week and take a more challenging mission from the same shrine without finishing the old one, though both need completion eventually.
Once you take a mission, tno cancellations or failures allowed. They stick on your list until you complete the task. Some missions might seem pointless, costing more than the rewards they offer. Unfortunately, platinum for this game is as challenging as it is for “Deadly Premonition 2.”
World Map
Shrines & Oracles 1-10
- Shutter Junkie — Take 30 / 100 / 250 / 500 / 1000 photos.
(Just SNAP, but it’s better to get a regular Standard Camera before that, which doesn’t break. Taking photos is faster than deleting unnecessary ones).
Shutter Junkie
Took over 1,000 photographs.
- The Greenest of Thumbs — Change your garden layout once / twice / three / four / five times.
(This one is buggy and displays incorrectly. You’ll have to change this not five times in total, but each time incrementally: two, three, four, five, which is expensive).
The Greenest of Thumbs
Applied five different layouts to your garden.
- Walking Cookbook — Learn 10 / 25 / 45 / 70 / 85 different recipes.
(Complete side quests and constantly eat almost all types of dishes in the cafe & bar. It’s recommended to do this when the DOG value is at its max. on gauge, as you can save on prices).
Walking Cookbook
Learned 85 recipes.
- Reaping What You’ve Sown — Harvest 10 / 30 / 100 / 250 / 500 crops.
(Buy the first Weird Seeds from Victoria. These are Sunflowers and from harvesting one you can get five seeds. Plant consistently, check every couple of days).
Reaping What You’ve Sown
Harvested 500 crops.
- Fashionista — Acquire 3 / 12 / 28 / 38 / 48 different pieces of equipment.
(Grinding hell, as it requires killing hundreds and hundreds of animals, and the skins drop rarely. After that, go dig for hundreds of ore deposits in the mines. Not enough? Run through the forests, inspecting the trees for necessary rare resources. Just NO).
Fashionista
Acquired 48 different equippable items.
- Glorious Gourmand — Eat 10 / 25 / 45 / 70 / 85 different foods.
(Try almost all the dishes in the cafe & bar. If you decide to complete the mission with recipes, this one is included in the package).
Glorious Gourmand
Ate 85 different dishes.
- Pious Pilgrim — Unlock 3 / 7 / 12 / 20 / 31 shrines.
(Of course you’ll unlock them all, this is necessary for fast travel and these missions! One of the side quests is also dedicated to this).
Pious Pilgrim
Awakened 31 shrines.
(Weird. No tasks were invented for this shrine, so it duplicates the garden mission from the second shrine. You can take the oracle and complete it in either of these two).
- So Emokey — Earn over 1.000 / 3.000 / 10.000 / 30.000 / 50.000 Emokes (likes).
(Without any problems, it’s completed as you progress through the story and side quests).
So Emokey
Earned a total of 50,000 Emokes.
- Camera OCD — Acquire 1 / 4 / 8 type of camera or lens.
(By completing side quests and by the end of the story, you’ll be rich enough to buy it all).
Camera OCD
Purchased five different camera lenses.
Shrines & Oracles 11-20
- Ultimate Dog Lover — Achieve 5 / 25 / 50 / 75 / 100% Dog on your DC Gauge.
(If you do all the side quests in random order, you’ll most likely end up on the DOG side. Play with one dog every full moon, and donate about ~£2.000 to any of the shrines to achieve the goal. Each side has a couple of unique unlockable quests, including new ones from the DLC).
Ultimate Dog Lover
Reached 100% DOG on the DC Gauge.
- Orion Incarnate — Defeat 10 / 30 / 100 / 250 / 300 animals.
(By completing side quests or wanting to get at least one set of new clothes, you’ll definitely accomplish this).
Orion Incarnate
Defeated 300 animals.
- Wild at Heart — Experience 5 / 15 / 35 / 60 / 100 Game Overs.
(No, no and NO. This is just a mockery. You’ll only need it if you want to get the achievement. Each death also instantly transfers you to the morning of the next day).
Wild at Heart
Enjoyed 100 Game Overs.
- Bringin’ Home the Bacon — Earn over £10.000 / £30.000 / £100.000 / £200.000 / £500.000.
(You can spend dozens of hours in the game, but if your goal is side quests and other missions, you won’t reach even £100.000).
Bringin’ Home the Bacon
Earned a total of £500,000.
- Resident Chatterbox — Talk to 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 28 NPCs.
(This is easy, but good luck getting the achievement for this as it’s buggy and may not pop up).
Resident Chatterbox
Talked with over 28 NPCs.
- Giving and Taking, Ad Infinitum — Complete 5 / 15 / 30 / 50 / 60 side quests.
(If you play this genre, comments on this mission are unnecessary. You don’t even need to particularly support one of the sides, there are enough missions here).
Giving and Taking, Ad Infinitum
Completed 60 side quests.
- The Obliterator — Break 10 / 30 / 90 / 180 / 300 objects.
(It’s also easy if you want to complete some other missions. Crates & barrels are everywhere, including those in the “races”. In addition, these sometimes contain useful resources).
The Obliterator
Destroyed 300 objects.
- Shepherd with a Camera — Collect 10 / 30 / 60 / 90 / 200 sheep.
(Oh God, please NO. Doing this by taming is very time-consuming and useless, since sheep are sold for £5 only, regardless of the stars in their status. Buying them for £8 and selling is also a hell of a time since you can’t have more than eight).
Shepherd with a Camera
Acquired 200 sheep.
- Sheepmanship Virtuoso — Travel 5.000 / 15.000 / 30.000 / 60.000 / 100.000 on a sheep.
(If you play to the fullest, you won’t notice this being complete).
Sheepmanship Virtuoso
Traveled 100,000 yards on a sheep.
Breedin’ up a Storm — Boost one sheep’s fluffiness / handling / power to Level:
- Easy: 2 / 2 / 2
- Normal: 4 / 4 / 2
- Hard: 6 / 6 / 6
- Expert: 9 / 9 / 10
- Master: 10 / 10 / 10
(These numbers are strangely arranged as the very presence of these parameters, since they don’t affect ANYTHING. A waste of time, and you’ll need a lot of it, especially for fluffiness, since this can be raised a little once a day and only on the farm).
Breedin’ up a Storm
Boosted all of one sheep’s parameters to Level 10.
Shrines & Oracles 21-30
- Lady of the Sheep — Hit the target time in the Knight’s Trials during the ‘A True Dame’ quest.
(After completing the main quests of ROUTE A, talk to Douglas McAvoy (carpenter / gardener). Select “I wanna race!”. There are three trials: Cross the goal line with 39 / 52 / 32 seconds or more remaining. Not so difficult, since the parameters of the sheep don’t affect anything).
Lady of the Sheep
Hit the target times for all three sheep races.
- Queen of My Domain — Modify your house once / twice / three times.
(Unlike the mission with the garden, it’s not buggy, so it can be completed quickly, if you have the required amount of money).
Queen of My Domain
Modified your house three times.
- Extreme Hiker — Travel 2.000 / 6.000 / 18.000 / 36.000 / 60.000 yards on foot.
(Another passively completed mission. This game loves extremes, from incredibly easy to simply impossible).
Extreme Hiker
Walked 50,000 yards.
- Garimpeiro — Excavate 10 / 30 / 100 / 250 / 500 times.
(If you’re engaged in a hellish mission to collect equip, it’ll be completed faster than you think. Otherwise, it doesn’t matter, why do you need it? . . .)
Garimpeiro
Excavated 500 times.
- DrinQUEEN! — Win 3 / 10 / 30 / 60 / 100 drink-offs.
(The vicar, who loves “holy water”, hangs out at the bar almost constantly. Every day you can play an annoying mini-game with him once for a small cash reward. If you lose, come back the next day. Let’s forget that this mission exists).
DrinQUEEN!
Won 100 drinking contests.
- Outdoor Warrior — Unlock 3 / 6 / 9 / 12 / 14 campgrounds.
(This can be completed through side quests, but they also serve as a sleep, food and save points, which is useful in itself).
Outdoor Warrior
Unlocked a total of 14 campgrounds.
- Diggity Dawg — Dig 10 / 30 / 100 / 250 / 300 times as a dog.
(Some resources for furniture and equip are obtained only in this way, so you’ll have to dig a lot).
Diggity Dawg
Dug as a dog 300 times.
- Ultimate Cat Lover — Achieve 5 / 25 / 50 / 75 / 100% Cat on your DC Gauge.
(You’ll also need it to gain access to a couple of unique side quests, if you’re interested, including some from the DLC. Everyone basically remains on the DOG side, since random completion of quests tilts in this direction. Play with one random cat during every full moon and donate ~£3.000 to any of the shrines to join the CAT side).
Ultimate Cat Lover
Reached 100% CAT on the DC Gauge.
- MarKING! — Mark 10 / 30 / 100 / 250 / 300 spots in total.
(More spots mean more places to dig for resources, and that’s not counting one of the side quests on this topic. They gradually erode, so you can constantly “water” them).
MarK-I-N-G!
Marked 300 spots.
- Free Roam — Unlock 2 / 10 / 18 / 25 / 30 checkpoints.
(These gates are scattered throughout the map. Each one costs just £10 to unlock. Can be easily completed after receiving a sheep. Some of them lead to shortcuts or useless places).
Free Roam
Unlocked 14 gates.
Shrines & Oracles 31-32
- Professional Eater — Drink 5 / 15 / 30 / 45 / 50 different drinks.
(Stock up on DrinKINGS and start sampling the drinks at Rainy Woods tavern & Eccles Town pub).
Professional Eater
Drank 50 different drinks.
- The Hottest Buzz — Fulfil 5 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 70 / 100 Hotwords.
(Another incomplitable pain, since these are #hashtags for photos. Each of them counts as unique. They’re updated randomly twice a week, and photos based on those that pop up again DOESN’T COUNT. Expect new ones! Who knows how many tens of hours this will take? You don’t have to do this).
The Hottest Buzz
Fulfilled 100 Hotwords.
