Welcome to Shipwrecked 64: 1997 Complete Walkthrough! This guide is designed to assist you with tackling challenging puzzles and navigating through the game. I will provide helpful explanations for each puzzle, allowing you to try and solve them on your own before revealing the answers. My goal is to enhance your gaming experience to the fullest.
Layer 1
Olive’s Minigame
Next you want to go through this false wall where the path is between these cabins.
Through here you will have to go behind the big black building and go through the door. This will lead you to the next room where you will find a keypad, and some floating text that says “BTIME=TRUE” in the keypad enter the code ‘8439’ This will open a video in your browser and change the text to say “BTIME=FALSE” What this does is stop time which makes things a little easier.
Going forward what you want to do is fail Olives minigame 3 times in a row this will cause Olive to disappear and her Layer 2 door to unlock leading to The Pool.
Walter’s Minigame
Giovanni’s Minigame
Layer 2
I do not recommend continuing to follow this guide unless you absolutely have to. Please try to enjoy the game as intended before using this resource. Puzzle solutions and potential spoilers lie ahead.
The Pool
Take the door on the lower area of the room. This will lead you to a dark room with a tape player and text on the wall. The text says “CODE IS ECDC” which is a key to the true code. The tape player plays the song Hot Cross Buns.
This is puzzle known in the game as a Mozart Cypher to solve this code you must take the key, ECDC, and take the music notes of the same letter in the song and count each of them there should be 3 E notes, 7 C notes, and 7 D notes. This would make your code 3777.
You may now leave the room and take the stairs up to go to the true pool. Here you will need to look for false walls and do parkour. Once navigated you should find a dead end, an area blocked by some metal bars and and keypad. If you have solved the puzzle you should know the code, but if you haven’t, you can backtrack and look for more hints. Once through the gate you will have to do more parkour until you find one last door that leads to the end of The Pool.
The Dam
You can continue looking around for clues if you haven’t solved the puzzle yet. But if you have, now you can go to the boat and through the false wall. It’s easy to see the false wall because it will have a glitchy texture. Once through, you will want to wall jump up to the top floor and put in your code. walk through the door walk to the end of the path and press the switch and walk back. This will start a cutscene where you see some pillars rising. go back through the door and make your way back the the staircase room and go through the door at the top. Instead of going to the tape player area jump into the hole in the pillar and make your way to the door. Walk down the long set of stairs. Go through the door at the bottom and you will be lead to a new section of The Dam. You will see some metal bars blocking the way to a door. Go around this area until you find a room with a swtich. Press the switch. stick around for an easter egg Then make your way back to the door and this leads to the end of The Dam.
The Diner
Go through the door and then follow the path. This will lead you to the art gallery. Look closely at the paintings. Some will be numbered. Take note of this.
You will also find a gated area with various coloured flags.
Given the context the solution seems to be what the game calls a Picasso Cypher to solve this you must associate these colours with the numbers this means the key is red means 8, blue means 3, and green means 3. this would make the code 8339. After solving this code, there is a second one with just one red flag. If you can’t figure this one out go back to the red 8 painting it might give you a clue.
Once you solve these codes and go through the door, you will be lead to the museum. Here you will want to find a switch and press it. When you press it you will see a cutscene where the gate blocking the door back at the start of The Diner will open. Make your way all the way back to the door and go through it. This leads to the end of The Diner.
The Hub
When interacting with these buttons you will notice they are on a 15 second timer. Through the door there is only a keypad and a gate blocking your way. To find the code you must activate all the buttons and look at the computer screen. It will display the code Once you put the code in you may progress. Going through will lead you to Layer 3, the land of darkness.
Layer 3
You will start Layer 3 on a dock. Here you will find a tape player, that plays some audio of lore, and a candle. Pick up the candle and take a straight back to the back of the room to a door. through the door you will end up in a bedroom. looking around there will be a gate labelled ‘Cogware Games’ blocking way to the next area, but you will also see that there is a passage you can reach by jumping on top of one of the beds.
Going through the path here will lead you to a door. Through the door will be an open area with a computer in the middle. Interact with it.

Choices
Olivia’s Ducts (left)
On entry you will immediately find the first switch on the wall by a hallway entrance.
Down the hallway you will find an office, there is a keypad next to a mirror in here. Most importantly there is a computer with a screenshot on it. Maybe you’ve seen this screenshot somewhere before?
If you have then you know where to find it. But if not… It’s the screenshot from an achievement for the game that is received by completing Olive’s minigame back in your 2023 playthrough. so going and looking at it you will know that the code is 4742 Input that into the keypad and press the switch.
Go through the tunnel in the wall on the opposite side of the hallway.
Here you will find a keypad and a tape recorder. The tape recorder is labelled “CODE IS EFG9” The tape then plays a section of ‘Ode to Joy’ If you read A Helping Nub like you should you should know that this is a Mozart Cypher. If you didn’t read it, then go to the ‘Cypher’ page on A Helping Nub to educate yourself. if you are especially bad at musical notation then E is played 9 times, F is plated 4 times, and G is played 4 time. Making the code 9449 Put in your code and head down the hall to the left and press your switch. After that look around and you will find a wall jump section that leads to the gate control switch. Press it and you will be taken back to the bedroom. If this was the second area you did the Cogware gate will be opened.
Gary’s Forest (right)
On entering Immediately take the left path and follow it to a room with a tape recorder, a gate, and a large computer. The screen of the computer flashes various colours in a pattern.
You may remember the colours earlier from the Diner, they were also mentioned in the cypher page of Stumbler’s guide. But if you don’t remember, the colours are R = 8 B = 3 G = 9
making the code 8389 Once you have your code input it onto the side of the computer. The gate in this room is now open. Go through the gate and then go towards the gate that says ‘gate control’ and take a left and go through and press the switch.
Go back up and take the right path instead. Eventually you will find a landmark, a picture that says “who are you” this means you are on the right path to this switch. You should find a room with a small computer in it. The switch is on the wall in here. Press it.
In the room with a small computer, not too far from this room is a gate with a keypad.
Interact with the button on the small computer. The computer will open this video
The audio is a red herring The video depicts a volcano, that eventually erupts. On first thought you may think this is just the volcano that is going to errupt in-game, but this is actually a hint pay attention to the video’s title ‘mount pinatubo’ what you want to do isgoogle this name, there you will find that the name is of a real life volcano, and on further research, you will when it last erupted this makes the code 1991 Enter the code. Hit the last switch, and go back to the Gate control gate where you found switch 1 and find the last switch. Press it and you will be taken back to the bedroom. If this was the second area you did the Cogware gate will be opened.
Nathan’s Office (foreward)
On entry you want to go forward and go into the room on the left. In here there is some text on the wall and opposite to it will be a switch.
Continue forward from the starting hallway, past the Live, Laugh, Love sign and enter a room with several computers and a gate on the floor. There is a also a gate on the wall with a keypad. Turn around and go through the hall with no gate blocking it and there is a door. Through the door you will enter a room with scary audio. There is a computer screen with Beaverscratch written on it.
You should know what Beaverscratch is from Stumbler’s giude. If not, read the beaverscratch page on Stumber’s guide. If you know how to solve beaverscratch then you know the code to the keypad. If not here’s how to read it Odd-numbered letters are swapped with the one after, and even-numbered letters are swapped with the one before. A↔B, C↔D, E↔F which means the beaverscratch says nine two eight one which is the code the keypad, enter it, and there is a switch behind the door.
The last switch is back in the beaverscratch room, move through the room and you will find that there is just a switch on the wall. Press it. The grate on the floor is now open leading to the area’s gate control switch. Press it and you will be taken back to the bedroom. If this was the second area you did the Cogware gate will be opened.
The Plaza
I would recommend mentally mapping this area unless you can put this map on another screen. Because getting too distracted can be detrimental here.
Plaza Tasks
The first thing you want to do here is observe your surroundings. Find the gold computers, there are 20 of them and you need to know where all of them are, because later on you will have to navigate this area on turn all of them on in only 10 minutes.
In the plaza you will find a second gallery. On Stumbler’s guide you may remember that on the Picasso Cypher section of the cypher page that there are two other numbers to find. They are here. Write them down.
When you come upon a room with walls made of gates, there will be a switch in here. Press it and you will get a video of some crystals. This video is important to solving some puzzles.
Eventually you will find a gate locked by a keypad, there is a note that holds the key to the code. It talks about the crystals video but it specifically says -those last four notes- so you have to watch the crystals video and find out what the last 4 notes are. If you’re colour blind the crystals each have a colour when played in this case blue, red blue, green making the code to the extension 3839
find this area. If you have done Stumbler’s minigame in layer 1 you know what kind of environment you are looking for. A cave. Find this place and listen to tape recorder. It is important. You will learn the Workstations code. 1997But listening to this tape I believe activates the Starlings. The first threat of your game.
The Starlings
Gary takes the form of Giovanni. Garry’s unique ability is being reactive to sound. If you listen to a tape he will spawn in close to it and then b-line towards it. So if you want to listen to something, hide in a barrel. Gary’s audio listening capabilities show no bounds. This can be used to your advantage by playing audio to lure him away. Gary can also leap off platforms. He has medium chase speed.
Nathan takes the form of Walter. Nathan’s unique ability is to destroy barrels you hide in. If he sees you hid in a barrel he will rip it apart and destroy it and continue giving chase. What you should do is try and hide while out of line of sight. Walter has the slowest chase speed, and can’t leap of platforms. Nathan’s ambient audio is the same as that in the beaverscratch room in Nathan’s office in Layer 3.
Olivia takes the form of Olive. Olivia’s unique ability is to appear on the black bars of your screen. Out of the bounds of the game a short scene of Olivia can appear, and if you don’t hide in a barrel during the duration of this scene she will teleport to you and agro to you causing a chase. Olivia is the fastest of this group and can leap of platforms, similar to Gary.
The Workstations
From here you now have access to a new room. It has a switch. This switch activates the 10 minutes timer to turn on all 20 workstation computers. You should already know the code 1997 now you have to make a mad dash around finding all 20 workstations, while avoiding the Starlings.
If you’re having trouble with this section, here’s the speedrunner’s path
Once you complete this section you will be teleported to a new room where you can recover from that task. But at some point you’re gonna leave and do the second Plaza task.
The Batteries
The batteries are located at outside and to the side of the top exit in the music note room, Stumbler’s home away from home/the cave, and the office area in the extension. Once you have collected all three batteries and charged the computer, you will see a short cutscene and be moved back to the room where you went after completing the workstation task. From here you can go back to the basement and retrieve your reward by pressing the switch on the big computer, and you can go to the exit. Leading you to Layer 4.
Layer 4
Cogware Offices?
Brandon
Brandon takes the form of Bucky. Brandon’s unique ability is to open tabs in your browser that display pictures. A good way to remedy this is to have your browser on a separate display if you have one, and play with a controller, because you can keep playing the game if you’re tabbed out with a controller. Brandon is also faster than Nathan, but can also break barrels.
The Sewers
Here you want to find a way into the control room. But how can this be done? Well if you want to explore you can but what you need to do at this point is get caught by a starling and get put in the sewer cell
Now inside the cell you have access to the computer which shows you a video. It will show you that the code has changed. Now you can solve this easily with the given key the code being 8714 type that in.
But don’t leave. Go back to the cell. There is now a wall jump section in the ceiling. Jump up or walk through the wall where the tomogachi is and you will end up in a new area. Here there 4 barrels of varying colours.
If you remember your colour codes since Layer 2 you should know what this means. But if you’re silly the code is green, blue, green, purple. or 9396 Take the boat to the next room. It has a computer, a door, and a keypad. Type the code on the keypad, and you get a video.
This video shows you locations in the sewers, but it also shows where there are hidden buttons in the sewers. The time codes reference when these rooms appear on the map video.
The switches are located at the first one is located in the room just outside the jail cell, the other switch is on a ramp near the control room, and the last one is in the hidden area called ‘the phone’
Now locate the control room and enter. There will be a room with a computer that will open a tab on your browser called Code Breaker.[cogwaregames.com]
Code Breaker
Now where before have we seen a similar format? The codebreaker website
Put these inputs into the code breaker OOXO 1989 1214 and go through the door.
This is simply an introduction to the code breaker and how it works.
But where else might we have seen something else in this format? The Control Room look at the walls and you will find two codes and some computers with red and green screens. Put them into Code Breaker. XOXO, 8283, 2781 and go through the door.
There is one more place to find a code. But where is it? The Cogware Offices so if you didn’t look around before, you’re gonna have to go back up the elevator and find the codes. XXOO, 4123, 9981 Go through the door and watch the cutscene
The cutscene told us how to get one of the codes for the next sequence. So now we have to fully explore The Cogware Offices.
Rex
Rex takes the form of Blot, a character we’ve only briefly seen, during the museum section of The Diner in Layer 2. Rex’s unique ability allows him to disguise as barrels. When he spawns he can spawn as a barrel which will then start to manifest into himself. If you catch Rex in this state you can punch him to bring him into a previous stage and eventually disappear. Rex also has Olivia’s ability to invade the black bars on the side of the screen, where if you don’t hide in time he will spawn next to you and give chase. Rex also inherits Gary’s ability of really good hearing. Rex is also the fastest starling in the game.
Cogware Offices and Codebreaker
Put the codes into Codebreaker XXOO, 2634, 1995 and go through the door. The cutscene you will get shows you a new code. For the gated door at the start of Cogware’s Offices. 1917 go to the gate and input your code. The gate opens, progress to your next area.
Cogware Offices Cont.
It opens a video called fish. The video shows fish and then displays a message PUBLISHED MARCH 12. 1960
So using those critical thinking skill you have to of developed by now google fish published march 12, 1960 and you will find 1 fish 2 fish red fish blue fish by Dr. Suess so by using what we know the code should be 1283
But in the description of the fish video there is a link to another video
that shows a red circle around a section of wall we have been before in this area so if we backtrack to that area and interact, we will find a invisible switch there Then go input the code into the keypad. Then go through the door.
The Final Stretch
Husk
This is Husk. The last entity you will meet in this game. He is non lethal. But you have to find him. He has his own audio cue when you’re close so it’s not that hard. Goodluck.
Hide and Seek
Your Final Task
The end
Rest well Connor.
