This guide will help you complete Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened (2008) with a 100% success rate. It is written in English and provides a step-by-step walkthrough of the game.
London Part 1
As soon as you take control of Dr. Watson, go to the newsboy and talk to him to get information about the disappearance of the Princess’ bodyguard. Now go to the Barnes bookshop, talk to the bookseller and pick up the book on the Maori placed on the cabinet in front of the central bookcase. Exit and return home to talk to Holmes. When asked about the criminal’s place of work, answer “MOLO”. Now go down to the street and take the carriage, then head to the banks of the Thames.
Enter the pub in front of you, talk to the barman to gather some information, then exit the room, go left and straight ahead, over the bridge and down the steps, until you come across Harper’s house, characterized by a big red anchor drawn on the wall. Try knocking on the door, but you will discover that there is not a soul in the house. Then enter the house exactly opposite and talk to the woman kneeling near the altar. At the end of the conversation, collect the fake silver brooch on the altar and go out, collect the rope resting on the barrels next to the entrance to Harper’s house. Now go back to the pub and talk to the bartender again, examine the table behind the curtain and look at the four symbols engraved in the wood. Go back outside and continue past the Nepalese family’s house, then to the right, until you come across a drunk postman. When you’re done with him, continue left, go up the steps and, when the road curves to the left, you’ll see an alley in front of you. Cross it and you will reach an open space, with some bottles on the ground. Select the bottle in your possession, to hold it in your hand, and knock on the smugglers’ door. In this way you will receive the package lost by the postman. Knock again while holding the silver pendant. Go to the pub again, open the inventory and use the knife on the package, then give the wooden prosthesis to the drunk guy; in exchange you will get the hook. Go to warehouse number 12, open the inventory and combine the rope with the hook, then approach the entrance door and use everything on the broken grate at the top. Now, as Watson, go to the right side of the warehouse and clean the dirty window. Hook the hook to the padlock on the ground, using the vertical oscillation (move the mouse up and down). Once inside, pick up the bloody pin and the diary page on the ground. On the right, on the ground, there is a bar: pick it up and use it to open the two chests and collect the lantern. Then climb onto the boards at the bottom left and push the saucepan towards the tap, then go down and, in the corner to the left of the entrance, go and activate the valve. Now push the pot all the way to the bottom, corresponding to the other cable and hook it to it. Then approach the trapdoor and click first on the longest cable, which hangs, then on the handle, to hook them. Finally go and cut the rope that secures the pot with the knife, to open the trapdoor. Select the lantern from the inventory and go down. When you are in the room, in front of the door with the symbols, you will have to press those engraved on the side walls, that is: the first and second (starting from above) of the left triad and the first and third (always starting from above) of the right triad. At this point the door will open and you can continue. In the large room, first search the perimeter of the room: starting from your right, you will find a basket with some black material, from which you can take a grain; then at the end, behind a column, a jacket on the ground containing a sheet of paper; in the other corner a table on which a black metal package, some opium and a jug with opiate liquid are placed; finally in the corner near the entrance from which you entered, there is a table with a box of silver pendants. Once the inspection is complete, head to the sacrificial altar, at the top of the staircase. Observe the corpse, analyzing its face and two hands: in the right hand examine the tip of the index finger, in the left hand examine the hole on the middle finger. Pick up the broken statuette from the ground and use the sheet of paper in your possession on the symbols engraved in the left corner of the statue, finally go over it with graphite to obtain a copy. Approach the jacket again, on the ground, near the column at the foot of the altar staircase: you will notice a black spot, examine it. At the end of the cutscene, you will return to Baker Street.
Sit at the analysis table, collect the usual bottles (water, solvent, alcohol). Open the inventory and use the knife on the metal box to obtain some white powder. Place it in the microscope and use tweezers to extract specks. Place them on the other machine and use the matches on it to heat the substance. After the chat with Watson, head back to the port.
Enter the pub and ask the bartender about the customs officer, then go back out and continue to the shack immediately after Harper’s house (the one with the red anchor). Collect the sheet hanging on a chest and examine the goods register. Go to warehouse 16 (it is in front of the pub), examine the entrance door, then analyze the footprints on the ground: use the lens to collect the key and observe the print higher up, so as to detect the lack of a nail in the sole, then use the tape measure on the central imprint to check the size. Now follow the footsteps, which will lead you to a door below the lighthouse. Use the key you have to open it and collect the document. Return to Baker Street.
Answer Holmes’ question by typing “SWITZERLAND”.
Switzerland Part 1
Return to the corridor and continue ahead until you meet Maurizio. After the short chat, continue along the corridor, until the last door on the right, the darkest one. Examine the crack in the wall to the left of the door to collect the key, then use it to open it. Inside the storage room, pick up the bar on the ground and the measuring tool immediately to the left, on the stones; use it on the pipes resting on the crates and pick up the 16 mm one; open the inventory and combine it with the 15 millimeter syringe to obtain a blowgun. Now go back to Maurizio and give him the bar. Go back to your cell and take the corridor that will lead you to the staircase to the upper floor. Go up and use the spoon on the wardrobe to get a nurse’s coat, then pick up the bunch of keys on the floor near the door on the left. Now go through the door to the right of the wardrobe and go to the courtyard, on the left, near the aviary. Talk to the patient and Bauer, then approach the fountain in the left corner and fill the kettle with water. Return to the laboratory, downstairs, holding the blowgun. Approach the nurse from the left, keeping yourself crouched, so as to knock him out. Enter the cell where the orderly is located, examine his body, then look at the barrels on the floor, collect the package with black edelweiss from the shelf, examine the pink crystals and the bottles of chlorine. Turn around and collect the letter from the inventory book. Return to the cell corridor, continue to the end, turn left, open the door. Don’t turn left immediately, but continue straight, then turn and talk to the patient called Baker: he will ask you for the pink crystals. Go to the laboratory to get them and bring them to him. He will ask you to dissolve them in water: open your inventory and combine them with the pot full of water. Give the mixture to Baker and “collect” the nearby cart. Return to the laboratory and take the doll placed on the piece of furniture immediately to the left, then go to the vicinity of your cell, open the door and continue towards Gerda’s cell. Give her the doll, to receive a key. Go upstairs and open the door to Dr.’s office. Muller, in the cloister. Collect the vase holder hanging on the wall, the glasses and the letter from the desk, then continue left and, in the last room, collect the key from the shirt hanging in the wardrobe. Go back outside and open the aviary, using the key you just collected.
Switzerland Part 2
Go back out of the room, bend down and look at the bloody shoe prints on the right. Go back along the corridor and turn left to reach the doctor’s office. Gygax. Use the key you just collected to enter. Examine the book on the table immediately to the right, the human skull, then open the filing cabinet and analyze Wolff’s medical record; collect the document from above the desk and the classroom key. Take the poker from the fireplace and use it to force open the dark door in front of the desk. Enter the torture room, examine the bed, then approach the desk in the right corner to observe the dead bird and the notebook with Dr.’s notes. Gygax. Return to the office and use the poker to open the desk drawer, collect the documents. Exit the office and go back upstairs, go towards Baker’s cell, then continue and turn right. Open the classroom door with the relevant key, collect the letter on the desk and the fake beard in the cabinet. Return to Dr.’s office. Gygax, consult the file and extract the anonymous patient’s medical record (the nameplate is empty). Combine the glasses with the fake beard and go to Wolff, pretending to be Dr. Schwartz. Now go and activate the unlit torch outside Dr.’s office. Gygax, then activate the one in front of Wolff’s cell, finally activate the one in front of the secret passage, outside the well room. Go through the passage and talk to the Enlightened One. To his question, “Who am I?”, respond by typing “LIGHT OF THE ABYSS”. At the end of the cheerful chat, return to Dr.’s office. Gygax and approach the elevator. Pull the left rope three times and the right one once, take the elevator; by doing so you will find yourself in the laundry room. Open the cell on the right using the spoon, then talk to the prisoner and use the medicine with the black edelweiss symbol on him. Go up the stairs, collect the hat and coat from the shelves and go through the door to conclude this part. When you are on the train, answer Holmes’ question by writing “LOUISIANA”.
Louisiana
Take the key and use it to open the other door on this floor, near the stairs. Hearing the waitress’ cry, rush into the stable: to open it, pick up and use the nearby log. Pick up the hammer from “under” the horse and return to the house. In the newly opened room, on the first floor, use the metal cylinder on the table in the left corner (on the strange drawing), pick up the horn on the desk and use it on the trophy with the goat’s head. Look at the photo. On the floor, in the center of the room, there is a raised tile; go out onto the balcony, take the lemon plant, go back inside and place it on the tile that activates the mechanism. Now approach the huge painting with the iguana and use the metal stick you have in inventory with the reptile’s eye. Enter the secret room, approach the desk and collect the two documents and the photo. Go back to the stable and talk to Watson. At the end of the entire sequence, return to the house and go get a lemon from the plant you placed in the trophy room. Return to Watson and talk to him, holding the lemon in your hand. Now cross the avenue with the mosquitoes, examine the traces of blood on the ground, continue towards the pier and examine the rope. At the end of the conversation, head to the fisherman’s shack on the map. Talk to him and give him the bottle of champagne, you will get some wooden planks and a lantern. Now go back to town and get on the red boat. Talk to the lady at the entrance, holding the bouquet of flowers. At the end of the chat with the blonde, open the map and go to the French district again. When asked by Holmes who has the signet ring, answer “RACCOON”. Enter the house, go to the kitchen and pick up a slice of ham, then go back outside and place it on the ground, in front of the tree near the house, where there are the animal’s footprints. After locating the den, go to the stable and collect the nails from the counter, then go to the balcony of the house, combine the boards with the nails, then all with the hammer, to create a ladder. Use it on the wall near the raccoon’s den and collect the ring. Return to the trophy room, then into the secret room, and use the seal printed on the ring with the weapons cabinet to open it. Collect the money from the box and a rifle. Go back downstairs and, as soon as you have had the opportunity to greet the sheriff, quickly return to the balcony, pick up the ladder and use it on the wooden railing to lower yourself into the garden. Return to the old fisherman, using the map, and pay him money to rent a boat.
The Swamp
London Part 2
Go back to talk to the bartender, then open the map and go to Barnes’ library again to see how far along the translation of the obscure volume is.
Scotland
Now go down, approach the hook from which the skeleton with the empty flask was hanging and use your lantern on it. Now turn around and pull the rope attached to the rock wall. Go back to the beams, use the grate you have in your inventory and climb up it. Use the empty flask on the barrel to fill it with gunpowder. Now you can return to the ground: go and pull the rope on the wall again and take the lantern back. Head down the corridor again, past the rubble, turn left and go to the end. Don’t worry about the fall and continue walking, climbing up from the side. Combine the flask with the rags, then use the bomb on the boulder at the top left, which blocks the passage. Go through, collect the red belt and continue. Approach the machine on the left, use the belt with the wheel at the bottom, then examine the larger one, with the symbols. You must rotate the signs of the four circles until all the lights on the right have turned on (each circle corresponds to a light). Finish by pulling the lever on the right. Take the red belt and continue through the door. Use the torch in the third hole from the left (or throw a torch for each hole, taking care to recreate another one each time, until you have located the hole without a river underneath). Combine the belt with the greenish rock in the center to lower yourself down. Go along the corridor and, when you emerge into a flooded environment, pick up the wooden leg stuck in one of the ducts blocked by the boulders. Then go around the stalactites and enter the room with the door. Use the wooden leg on the tile with the round socket and go into the treasure room. Collect the scimitar from the skeleton and continue left. When you are in front of the ravine, look up at the crevasse in the ceiling and call Watson. Now, as the doctor, turn around, go over the hill and pick up the huge wooden beam; go back to the crevasse and throw it down. Like good tightrope walkers, cross the ravine and continue until you find yourself inside the lighthouse. Immediately open the entrance door on your right. Go outside, go exactly in front, towards the shack; Pick up the empty bucket on the left and use it on the barrel full of water.
Go back inside the lighthouse and pour the water into all the brass pots that are generating green smoke. Finally, turn left, under the ladder, and pull the two levers to scare the criminal away. Go up the stairs, reaching the upper floor (where the criminal is waiting for you) and pick up the wooden plank on the ground. On the ground, on the right, near the stairs, there is a pool of blood: use the board on it. Make the five-pointed star by clicking on the right symbols. You can make as many attempts as you want and remove the wrong symbols by clicking on them again. At the end of the operation, advance towards the delinquent to put him out of action. Continue climbing, force the door using the iron bar in your possession. After the sequence, answer Holmes’ question by typing “STOMACH”. Go up again, use the key you just recovered to open the last door. After the pleasant chat with the bad guy on duty, turn on the lighthouse. To do this, pick up the empty lamp on the ground, insert it under the blue one, operate the valve in the centre, pick up the blue lamp and insert it under the green one on the left, finally rotate the valve in the centre.
