Hunting Tips
How to move/hunt:
Hunting depends on difficulty, in normal mode when you approach any prey you immediately crouch and that makes hunting easier, but in survival mode you have to crouch by yourself by clicking CTRL. This makes hunting more uncoordinated. Also if you get too close the prey are startled and get a head start by running first, so you should also pounce before the prey do.
The easiest and most abundant prey to hunt are hares/rabbits. The hardest prey to hunt are deer and (sometimes) pheasants.
Tips for surviving!
1. Make sure to stay in the big tree area for the first time, it has the most prey!
2. Don’t go to areas with limited prey, like the foothills or swamp. Stay in the centre!
3. When your cubs size up after winter they have to eat more, so make sure to go to an area with lots of prey since they are more likely to starve. (from past experiences)
4. Your cubs have about 4 minutes until they starve and collapse, so make sure to keep hunting non-stop. But of course you can take a small break.
5. If you have low stamina don’t be afraid to eat a snack, even a small one like a shrew will give you loads of extra stamina for hunting larger prey.
Hopefully these tips have benefited you, over time you will become more skilled and have less deaths!
Maps 🙂
I will show all the maps and information about them. Just know that when you first enter each biome it will be blank for you to explore and fill out.
Big tree/Valley
The Big tree area is where you have your cubs and spawn at. It contains a large tree in the middle (tree type is unknown possibly a spruce?) and in the tree contains a small den. Surrounding the tree is a large grassy plain with foothills, marshes and sparse forests. It provides the most prey, usually hares.
Prey: Rabbits, Nests, Pheasants, Shrews.
Predators: Foxes, Eagles, Bears?, Lonesome fog.
Rare collectables: Fox skull, Pink flower, Blue feather.
Difficulty: Easy, for beginners.
Lake biome (Three trees)
The lake biome is an area which contains a large lake which has small islands in the centre, (can only be accessed in winter). The whole area is mostly the lake but also provides sparse forests and grassy areas. This biome also has a large waterfall and river which are located to the east (looking from the entrance point)
Prey: Musk deer, Nests, Rabbits,
Pheasants (and grouse), Shrews.
Predators: Foxes, Eagles? Lonesome fog, Bears.
Rare collectables: Rose, Pink feather, Secret cave.
Difficulty: Medium, tough at winter, not a lot of traversable land.
Tundra (Glacial plains)
The Tundra is an extremely wide grassy area with and abundance of rocks all over the plains. Surrounding the tundra are steep mountains and a glacial sea. The tundra has no forests and marshes due to its cold weather and cold soil.
Prey: Chamois (type of goat antelope??) Deer, Rabbits, Nests (rarely)
Predators: Wolves, polar bears!, arctic foxes, eagles.
Rare collectables: Siberian tiger skull, Mammoth tusk.
Difficulty: Hard, no easy prey and especially hard in survival mode due to the wolves.
Mountains
The mountains are steep valleys and tall cliffs, hard to traverse through. The mountains contain loads of cliffs and narrow paths. In the middle of the map there is a large river which you can only cross in winter. Contains very sparse forests and huge waterfall located east.
Prey: Chamois (near tundra opening) Deer, Rabbits, Pheasants (and grouse), Shrews, nests.
Predators: Foxes, Eagles, bears.
Rare collectables: N/A
Difficulty: Medium, very hard to traverse because of steep terrain. Has a huge abundance of grouse and deer.
