Part 1: True Ending
The game itself is awesome and while at first, you might think that you have plenty of time to experience everything in one playthrough, you are horribly wrong. First, you should aim to complete the game following the True Ending path of Persona 5 Royal. This includes making the right choices at certain points in the story, as well as reaching certain Ranks with a number of confidants in order to unlock the Third Semester. Without spoiling too much below are the general requirements for the True Ending, as well as unlocking the Third Semester:
- Reach Faith confidant Rank 5 before 18th December;
- Reach Councillor confidant Rank before 18th November;
- Reach Justice Confidant rank 8 before 24th November;
- Refuse all offers presented during interrogation;
- Turn down all offers presented in January and February.
Part 2: Third Semester & Missable Achievements
After successfully making it into the Third Semester, you will have another palace to complete for your trouble, which will unlock the “Take Back the Future” achievement, as well as a number of other missable achievements. Since you are also playing for a longer duration, you should also aim to wrap-up any of the other missable achievements while playing through the normal story.
Part 3: NG+
New Game+ should not be needed for any of the missable achievements if you followed this guide, but in case you somehow managed to miss any of them, then you will be happy to know that this option exists. Some progress does carry over, such as your social stats, Persona compendium, items and so on, making some achievements easier to get in this new run. Nevertheless, the game is awesome, so even if you did manage to get all achievements in your first run, I can totally understand the desire to start a NG+ run.

The Path Chosen
- Secret Achievement. Story-related. Can’t be missed.
- Notes: While you will get this achievement by triggering any of the five possible endings, you will want to work towards the True Ending in order to unlock most of the other achievements. The bad endings for not completing a Palace in time do not count for this achievement. Please refer to Part 1: True Ending of the introduction section for more information.
Tactical Teamwork
- A “baton pass” is a special move unlocked fairly quickly into the first Palace. After knocking down an enemy, you have the chance to attack again or switch to one of your fellow Phantom Thieves. Simply pass to one of them and this achievement will unlock.
The Purpose of a Thief
- Treasure Demons are rare shadows that can be encountered in Palaces while looting items or found wandering in Mementos. The latter has a higher chance of occurrence. These shadows will yield more XP and Money when defeated than regular enemies, but for the purpose of this achievement, you will have to knock one down via its weakness and engage in a “Hold Up!” talk with it. Simply add it to your roster of Personas to unlock this achievement.
- Note: You will need to have an empty Persona slot to properly unlock this achievement.
Technician
- To trigger a “technical”, you will need to apply an elemental ailment to an enemy and then hit it with the right attack combo to knock it down.
The right combinations for a technical are as follows:AilmentTechnical ComboBurnNuclear + WindShockNuclear + Physical + GunFreezeNuclear + Physical + GunDizzyAnySleepAnyForgetNoneConfusePsychokinesisFearPsychokinesisDespairPsychokinesisRagePsychokinesisBrainwashPsychokinesis
Let’s Blow It Up
- First, you will need to encounter a disaster shadow in combat. These can appear randomly while fighting in Palaces or while exploring in Mementos. These shadows look just like their normal variant, but with a grey/purple tint. They will explode when defeated, dealing damage to the other shadows on their side. You will need to defeat one and make sure it deals enough damage to take the other enemies down with it.
It’s Showtime!
- This special move in unlocked during the third Palace. You will be forced to use it then as part of the tutorial, and it will not count towards unlocking this achievement. You will learn more “Showtime” attack moves as you advance the story. As to using the moves themselves, this is completely random. You will see a large animation message urging you to press a button in order to perform the attack. Simply do that and you should obliterate your enemies and unlock this achievement!
I am Thou…
- To gain new Personas in the game, you will either have to fuse them through executions, or recruit them through negotiations. For the latter, simply engage in combat with enemies either in Palaces or Mementos. You will now have to knock all the enemies down and trigger a “Hold Up!” talk, where you can request Money, Items or to recruit the Persona. Select the recruit option and engage in a talk puzzle with the Persona, matching your answers with its personality. Once successful, this achievement will unlock.
Jose’s Favorite Customer
- Flowers are a type of colllectible in Mementos. While exploring each floor, you will begin collecting “Flowers” for Jose. You will see a cinematic of Jose driving around when entering a new are of Mementos, letting you know that he can be found on that respective floor. Simply bring him enough flowers and he will trade you items in return.
- Note: Flowers are lost when leaving Mementos, so be sure to trade them all in before leaving!
The Phantom Philatelist
- Please refer to “The Search for Power” achievement section below for more details.
The Search for Power
- Stamps are a type of collectible found throughout Mementos. There will be one stamp at the end of each platform track and others scattered randomly on each floor. When going into “Mementos Overview” you can keep track of the remaining stamps for each section of Mementos. Trading stamps permanently changes the amount of XP, Money or Items you will receive while exploring Mementos. In order to complete this achievement, you will need to max out one of the three available categories from Jose.
- The three categories and their required stamps are as follow:
- Increased XP: 84 Stamps;
- Increased Money: 50 Stamps;
- Increased Items: 30 Stamps.
The Deviated Cognition
- A deviation represents a completely dark floor in Mementos. It happens completely random and it will make it a lot harder to navigate to the next floor. These floors also have tougher enemies and better loot as well as higher chances of Treasure Demons spawning. You will unlock the achievement the first time you encounter a deviation.
Talent Thief
MISSABLE
- Every Palace in the game will have 3 “Will Seeds”, which must be found before defeating the ruler himself. Once the third one is found, they will merge into a skull item that has no apparent use. Bring it to Jose in Mementos after collapsing the Palace and he will refine it into a powerful Skill Accessory.
Unsurpassed Rebel

Efficient Executioner
- The group guillotine execution allows you to fuse more than 2 of you active Personas into a brand new one. In order to unlock this execution method, you will need to raise your Strength confidant to Rank 1. To do that, you will need to bring the Twin Wardens, a Jack Frost with Mabufu. Once you have the required Persona, show it to the Wardens and they will unlock the group execution for you. Perform the execution and the achievement is yours.

Accident-Prone
- Fusion alarms happen after a random amount of battles have happened in either a Palace or Mementos. You will see a red door animation, followed by the message: “I’m getting an uneasy feeling…”. After seeing these, head to the Velvet Room to perform an execution and unlock this achievement. The bonuses for performing executions during an alarm are doubled, however using the same method too many times might provide a totally unexpected result.
Professional Modification
- You can customize guns at the air soft store in Shibuya. In order to unlock the option however, you will need to unlock the Hanged Man confidant, which in turn requires you to have the Guts social stat at Rank 4. Once you recruit him, you can visit him at any time and request his services to customize guns.
Leblanc Buffer

Batter Up!
- The batting cages can be found in Yongenjaya, around the corner from Leblanc. You can go during any time of the day, however, do keep in mind that you only have five chances during the day and unlimited pitches during the night. For the purpose of this achievement, you will need to score a hit at the mini game by lining the bat with the ball trajectory. You will also gain Proficiency points for this activity.
Getting the Vapors
- The bathhouse can be found right in front of Leblanc, directly across the alley. You can only unlock this achievement by spending time at the bathhouse during rainy days, and the outcome of this activity is completely random. You will have to keep going until you get a cutscene of your character passing out in the bathhouse.
Easy Money
- The lottery can be played by purchasing a ticket at the Shibuya train station, right next to the Sun confidant. For the purposes of this achievement, you will need to buy and win either a daily or weekly ticket. Winning is determined on a random basis, so simply purchase tickets until you eventually win. You will have to return to the station after the set amount of time has passed (depending on the ticket: 1 or 7 days) to check if you have won.
Angler’s Debut
- Unlocking the fishing pond in Ichigaya requires you to accept an invitation from Ryuji on July 6th to join him. Alternatively, you can read about the pond in the book “Fishpond Spotter”, available from the Shibuya bookstore. You will then need to travel to the pond during the day and play the fish mini game until you are successful at catching some fish.
Dartslinger

Going Against the Crane
- The crane machine can be found in the arcade in Akihabara. You should have access to the location at the end of August and you can play every day for a chance to win. As this is not an actual mini game but rather a cutscene, the outcome is determined on a random basis. You will have to win for this achievement to unlock.
Master of Akihabara
- The maid café becomes available in late August, when you unlock Akihabara. In order to unlock the “special menu” you will need to go four times and order the most expensive item there (5K yen per trip, so a total of 20K yen). The fifth time you go, a cutscene will trigger as well as the achievement along with it.
Tokyo Tourist
- You unlock hangout spots by reading about them in specialised magazines, through scripted story events or by leveling up confidants. Once you unlock one such spot, you can invite an appropriate confidant to join you and hangout there. Once that happens, the achievement should unlock.
True Confidence
- A confidant can be maxed out when their Rank reaches level 10. You will need to spend significant time with them and have a number of social interactions with them during your free time. You will see a blue card on the map when they are available to hangout with. During the interactions, dialogue choices affect the number of points you get towards their next Rank, so make sure you always choose the appropriate response to the situation. Ann and Ryuji are by far the easiest and quickest to max out.
- Note: Some confidants have pre-requisites before being able to reach certain Ranks or unlock certain events, such as Mementos requests, certain social stats or story locked until a pre-determined date.
My Closest Partner
MISSABLE
- In order to enter a “special relationship” you will need to first reach Rank 9 with one of the girl confidants. Most of them can be romanced, however some have special pre-requisites before you can begin a special relationship with them. At Rank 9, there will be a prompt telling you that you need to “choose your words wisely“. This is how you know that the next line will have you select whether or not to enter a relationship with that confidant. The line that begins the romance is fairly telling.
- The following confidants have no pre-requisites and can be romanced at Rank 9:
- Ann Takamaki (Lovers Arcana)
- Makoto Nijima (Priestess Arcana)
- Haru Okumura (Empress Arcana)
- Futaba Sakura (Hermit Arcana)
- Sadayo Kawakami (Temperance Arcana)
- Hifumi Togo (Star Arcana)
- Ann Takamaki (Lovers Arcana)
