^ WarDrums_ uses a strategy in Night 2-7 (Cake level, timestamp 19:40) to get the hat that I hadn’t seen elsewhere, and is definitely the easiest and most consistent way to get it
You do NOT have to complete the level or stay alive to keep hat progress, so feel free to quit to level select after you have what you need
Speedruns – Timed
These achievements require you to beat the level under a minute wearing a certain hat, and can be exploited with the “Restart Level” option on pause. When you restart the level, your time for the current level is reset and only when you enter the portal is the time for that specific level saved. I recommend resetting if you aren’t happy with your performance or if you die (dying isn’t always an instant-reset, use your judgement—sometimes getting the invincibility frames is worth the half-second death)
Recommended Input: Controller/Most Comfortable
This one is pretty straight forward, I advise shooting your shotgun as much as possible as it’s miles quicker than walking. The second to last level can either be skipped by using the trick WarDrums_ shows in his Former WR All Hats video (linked above, timestamp 4:05), but it’s still possible to play the level normally as long as your previous level times are good. Just make sure to shotgun back and forth while breaking blocks to speed through if you choose the long route like I did
Recommended Input: Controller/Most Comfortable
Hat: Monocle and Top-Hat (A4)
Another straightforward speedrun, but a little more difficult than the last. Piggy Guy wrote a great guide that I will link below if you need further help. I find flying on controller mildly difficult, and the one level where you absolutely will use it you simply fly straight up into the portal. As long as you can do at least one and maybe two mid-air direction changes with the sling, you’ll get this done easily
Full Level Runs – No Death, Miscellany
Recommended Input: Most Comfortable
Very easy achievement, you simply have to beat the first level in the game start to finish while holding your dance button (Y on XBox, Triangle on PS, and Spacebar on PC) the entire time. You want to hold down Y while you’re entering the level at level select, and DO NOT LET IT GO until the achievement pops, which for me was after the boss was killed. Claw grip on controller is optimal so you can use both sticks and spacebar on PC is simple enough
Recommended Input: Keyboard and Mouse
Hat: Dinosaur
I want to preface by saying if you feel like you are skilled enough at aiming with controller you can try with that, but I absolutely had to switch to KBM to get this achievement. The unique monsters are definitely going to give you trouble, but with some repetition this level isn’t too hard. You want to kill these unique mobs as fast as possible, as they can and will kill you and make you restart. The mobs you will encounter are as follows, in order (unique mobs bolded):
- 5 alligators top
- 5 alligators bottom
- 1 lizard middle – move to the top to avoid the sniper blast
- 5 alligators top
- 5 alligators bottom
- 2 lizards middle
- 6 snakes – these track onto you but aren’t really that much of a threat, if they latch onto you kill them quickly
- 3 fighter jets – the order will always be middle, bottom, top—these cannot be shot and must be dodged, go to the top and once the middle one passes go to the middle
- tank – approaches from bottom left of screen, shoots 2 homing rockets from back before charging a dual laser attack, you can shoot the rockets if they are a threat, usually just takes a swipe of the mouse
- 3 lizards middle
- 3 fighter jets
- 6 snakes
- rocket launcher reptiles – you can hug left side of the screen and keep your crosshair over the barrel of the rocket launcher, you’ll deal damage and destroy every rocket they shoot
- final boss – this guy can really be annoying, especially with the screenshake. You will have to dodge a spiral bullet-hell and then a screen-covering attack that only has a small safe-zone. If you’re quick and accurate, you can kill him before the second attack, but if you don’t you’ll kill him before the second attack becomes a problem
WarDrums_ has a very good run of this level in his video (timestamp 9:53)
Recommended Input: Keyboard and Mouse/Most Comfortable
Hat: Horse (D6)
This achievement is a lot easier than it seems on the surface. I used a technique we’ll call “feathering”, which uses the “fling” nature of the movement to bounce you through the air. You want short quick taps of your fire button so that you can almost hover in place. Keep your crosshair above you and use your movement keys/left joystick to shimmy your way across the levels, and you’ll be done with this in no time. For the levels where you have blockers preventing you from “attaching” at certain spots, all of them can be circumvented by getting your crosshair above the no-stick zone and using the feathering technique (one level requires a slight fling in the air to get above the no-stick zone). If you’re having trouble, practice putting your crosshair above you and getting the hang of staying in place by tapping fire over and over. I found it easier on keyboard and mouse, but feel free to use a controller if that suits you
Recommended Input: Controller/Most Comfortable
Hat: Hamburger (F7)
The most low-risk achievement of them all—you need to eat EVERY fatcake while wearing the Hamburger head in the cake level. There are a few cakes that aren’t completely necessary for normal completion, such as 2-4, which has a cake on the optional path to get the hat for that level. The final boss fight for this world also has 2 cakes, 1 on each side, so make sure you eat both of those too
End
You should get this achievement after finishing the last boss fight. Aptly named achievement.
It took me about 6 hours in total (one normal playthrough, one achievement run) to get all achievements, despite some frustrations with certain hats and levels, it’s a pretty smooth ride throughout. Hope my guide helped, feel free to leave any suggestions or feedback in the comments below
