Looking to achieve a perfect score in Ikai? Look no further! This detailed guide will provide step-by-step instructions to help you quickly and easily attain a 100% completion rate. Let’s get started on achieving those achievements!
Overview
Estimated 100% time: ~2-4+ hours.
Offline/online achievements: 20 offline / 0 online.
Number of playthroughs: 1 possible, but 2+ may be necessary due to how the missable achievements work.
Glitched achievements: None.
Missable Achievements: 11. A short daydream, Escape the flames, Pray from the distance, Silent woods, Cut the cursed songs, No wrong pattern, A short nightmare, Warrior of destruction, Folktale believer, The collector, Seal master.
Achievements I
Village protector
Write three seals for the villagers
Story related. You’ll earn this after drawing the 3 seals at the start of the game and setting the brush down.
A short daydream
Tag your sister in less than 1 minute
Missable. After you start sweeping, you’ll enter a small flashback scene with your sister. The idea is to locate and tag her as fast as possible while blindfolded. You’ll gain a sort of “sensory vision”, and you’ll need to follow the sound notification on your screen to find her. I recommend only sprinting a few steps at a time, otherwise your character will trip and waste a ton of time. Once you get close to your sister, start spamming the interact key, as you need to actually grab her – not just find her.
Time of the dead
Wake up after the opening of the gate
Story related. This will unlock after you investigate the dagger in the forest.
Escape the flames
Don’t get burned on the way to the shrine
Missable. As you’re making your way back through the dark forest, you’ll eventually come to 2 areas where the floor will light on fire. The idea is to wait for certain flames to disperse, and follow the path to the other side. If you get lit on fire even once, you’ll need to restart the entire game. Below is a video showing the route.
https://youtu.be/y3xT6zNSnvQ
The unholy shrine
Reach the unholy shrine
Story related. This will unlock once you’ve made your way back to the shrine.
Pray from the distance
Toss the coin from a far distance
Missable. You need to toss the money into the prayer box from inside the shrine by holding M1 (left click). As long as you’re beyond the doors and in the room with the altar, it will count. You have unlimited attempts, so play around with the distance until you find the sweet spot.
Novice priestess
Complete the first purification ritual
Story related. This will unlock after purifying the mask in the shrine.
Silent woods
Go unnoticed escaping from the forest
Missable. As soon as you escape the well with the bones that come to life, the doors at the top of the stairs will now be open. From this point forward, DO NOT SPRINT. You need to make it through this entire forest section without the worm detecting you. If he does, you’ll need to restart the entire game. The idea here is to slowly move between the patches of tall grass until you reach a large stone staircase leading back to the shrine. If you hear the worm crawling around, quickly crouch inside the grass and wait for him to despawn (the noises stop) before continuing. He is scripted to spawn when you reach certain locations, but you always have time to reach the next grass patch. Don’t freak out and try to rush to hide, just keep calmly walking and he won’t spot you. The achievement will unlock as soon as you pass under the tori gate at the base of the stairs and you’ll be free to sprint again.
Slither away
Escape from the forest
Story related. This will unlock once you reach a large staircase in the forest, while hiding from the worm.
Skilled priestess
Complete the second purification ritual
Story related. This will unlock after purifying the worm.
Achievements II
Cut the cursed songs
Get the right instrument in a single attempt
Missable. After performing the 2nd purification, you’ll eventually make your way to a large cocoon with 4 instruments hanging up. The correct one is always the one with the moons facing each other. You can look in the Puzzle Solutions section for a screenshot if you need.
The collector
Get all the collectibles
Story related. This will unlock after purifying the correct instrument in the cocoon. The correct one is the one that doesn’t have any strings on it.
No wrong pattern
Draw the correct pattern without any mistake
Missable. You will eventually interact with a board on a wall, and it will allow you to draw along a tic-tac-toe shaped pattern. You need to fill in the correct lines on the first try. For the sake of keeping this section of the guide spoiler free, refer to the Puzzle Solutions section for a screenshot on the appropriate lines. If I put the image inside a spoiler box here, you wouldn’t be able to enlarge it and it might be a pain in the ass to see.
A short nightmare
Get the katana in less than 1 minute
Missable. Immediately after solving the Wall Pattern puzzle from the previous achievement, the board will slide away revealing a hole you can enter. As soon as you do, you will need to navigate a maze and locate the Katana in under a minute. Use these directions to find it:
- Enter the maze.
- Take the first right you can.
- Make another right and go down the left path at the fork.
- Immediately turn right, followed by a left, another right, and a final left.
- The Katana and a note will be in the middle of the junction.
Warrior of destruction
Break every destructible object with the katana
Missable. After leaving the Katana maze, you will enter a room with a lit fire and a tea kettle heating up. Inside this room is a bottle of alcohol you can drink that will let you start smashing things with your katana. There are 9 items to smash, and you have 3 chances to break everything. Realistically, one sip is plenty of time. The achievement will unlock once the room start to deteriorate.
The bottle to drink from is pictured below. The first item you can smash is the larger bottle to its side in the same picture.
From the alcohol bottle, smash the 2 brown vases and the white bowl to your left.
Cut the rope holding the kettle, and the bottle between the two cushions.
Finally, facing the kettle, turn around and break the two orange plates and the bottle to their left.
The crime’s author
Wield the murder weapon
Story related. This will unlock shortly after the scene of a woman dying.
The beginning of the end
Complete the ultimate ritual
Story related. This will unlock for completing the final seals and finishing the game.
Folktale believer
Get all the yokai pages
The collector
Get all the collectibles
Seal master
Complete every seal without losing or repeating it
Missable. There are 12 Objects, 25 Yokai pages, 3 Letters, and 10 seals to find/complete throughout the game. If you followed the Collectibles sections, and completed every seal without failing, all 3 of these achievements will unlock during the end game credits.
Collectibles I
Seal (1-3/10)
You’ll draw these after the intro cutscene. There’s honestly a lot of room for error for it to still count as perfect. You don’t even need to fill out the entire pattern, just the basic shape of the characters. If at any point your character mentions the seal won’t work and the pattern glows red or you die while drawing one, the “Seal master” achievement will be void for that playthrough.
Object – Otedama (1/12)
As soon as you finish drawing the 3 seals, turn around and you’ll spot a wooden ladder in front of 2 drawers. Move the ladder and interact with the item in the picture below.
Yokai – Kijo (1/25)
Directly below the previous collectible. Open the right drawer to find the note.
Yokai – Kodama (2/25)
At the front of the same room as the last collectible.
Yokai – Amefuri Kozo (3/25)
After the flashback with your sister, you’ll be tasked with grabbing the laundry. Exit through the backdoor and head down the path. Enter the first door on your right and you’ll spot a tea kettle on the floor next to a fire pit. There will be another door to your left, and one in front of you. Enter the one in front. Slide the wooden ladder to the left and open the left-most cupboard above you to find the note.
Yokai – Otoroshi (4/25)
Enter the room with the laundry basket (it will have a pink garment inside it) but don’t pick it up yet. Instead, look inside the piece of clothing hanging directly above it.
Yokai – Tsurube Otoshi (5/25)
After solving the Side Gate puzzle and stepping out into the forest, you can find this on a sign just a few feet away. Almost impossible to miss.
Yokai – Tanuki (6/25)
Continue down the path, and your character will say “leave the stone on your right”. Do exactly that and look on the statues back to find the note.
Object – Goshikimai (2/12)
Immediately after the previous note you’ll likely spot a pile of rice on the road. Grab yellow item out of it. You can see it in the bottom right of the picture below.
Object – Broken Umbrella (3/12)
Continue to follow the paths until your character’s clue mentions a rock on the left, and a well on the right. In this large clearing will be the Broken Umbrella.
Yokai – Nojukubi (7/25)
After investigating the blade in the forest, it will turn to nighttime. Head back down the short path to where your character gave you the “trust no one” clue, and look on the back of the sign near the statue.
Yokai – Oni (8/25)
Continue making your way back towards the shrine and eventually the ground will light on fire in front of you, illuminating this note on the back of a statue. Almost impossible to miss.
Object – Crane (4/12)
Just before the stone stairs leading back to the shrine.
Yokai – Mekurabe (9/25)
After returning to the shrine, go down the path to the right of where we started the game and you’ll spot a large tree with a Shimenawa (giant rope) tied around it. Facing this tree, look to your right to spot a small building you can enter. As soon as you do, look on the floor to your left to spot this under the mat.
Letter – Honorable Samurai (1/3)
Exit the previous building and enter the dark one directly across the road. Across from the door will be a table with a lamp you can turn on, and the note next to it.
Yokai – Hakutaku (10/25)
In the same room as the previous collectible, open the top-left drawer of the cabinet to your left.
Object – Teru Teru Bozu (5/12)
Facing the table where the letter was, look at the wall to your right to spot this little doll hanging from it.
Object – Kagura Suzu (6/12)
Enter the front of the shrine (the room with the large altar) and open the trunk on the left side of the altar.
Yokai – Manekute (11/25)
Make your way down the long hall with ghostly hands reaching for you and stop in the next room you enter. On the table in front of you will be a lamp you can light. There will be a door to your front, right, and a small open yard to the left. Enter the small closet on the right and look under the box on the shelf. You need to really press yourself up against it to get the prompt.
Seal (4/10)
Story related. You’ll need to make this to seal the mask.
Seal (5/10)
Story related. You’ll need to make this to stop the giant worm from killing you. You need to be extremely fast with this one, or the worm will kill you as you’re drawing it.
Object – Ohaguro (7/12)
After sealing the worm out of the room your in, face the sealed doors and look to your right to spot a bunch of drawers and shelves. Interact with the object on one of the left-most shelves.
Yokai – Hitodama (12/25)
Same location as the previous collectible. Open the 3rd drawer from the candle to your left to find the note inside.
Yokai – Jorogumo (13/25)
In the same room as the last collectible. You can find this on a shelf near the table where you drew the seal.
Yokai – Nozuchi (14/25)
As soon as you drop into the cavern, locate the Kappa statue pictured below. The note is on the floor next to it. It will be behind the knocked over candle.
Yokai – Hikeshi Baba (15/25)
Continue through the caverns until a cave-in occurs behind you, trapping the worm. Immediately after this, you’ll go down a slide into a small room with another slide. Don’t take that one just yet! Instead, look on top of the boxes to the right of the table.
Collectibles II
After hanging up your lantern, you’ll enter a dark room with a well and a satchel that you’ll knock down. Look to the left of the staircase in this same room. This is extremely hard to see.
Seal (6/10)
Story related. You’ll need to draw this after interacting with the item where the blue orb was. Rush over to the table where Yokai note #10 was close to and draw it up. You have to be extremely quick here, otherwise the worm will kill you while you’re drawing it.
Yokai – Kappa (16/25)
Immediately after purifying the worm, look inside where the water was to find the note.
Yokai – Kage Onna (17/25)
Head back to the small room where Yokai note #8 was (the building next to the large tree). As soon as you enter, look to your right.
Yokai – Ningyo (18/25)
This can be found on the stones of the pond, near where you started the game.
Yokai – Kerakera Onna (19/25)
After performing the 2nd purification, you’ll notice the shrine is now covered in spider webs. Make your way back towards the room where you started the game, and you’ll notice a large cocoon that definitely wasn’t there before. You need to come here to progress the story, so you can’t miss this. As soon as you enter, look inside the web to the left of the hanging spoons, assuming you’re facing them from the entrance.
Seal (7/10)
Story related. You’ll need to make this to perform the 3rd purification in the large cocoon. I believe you can die while making this one, so make sure you’re quick!
Object – Shell Matching Box (9/12)
Immediately after the 3rd purification, you will have to follow a paper crane. Continue to follow it until it lands inside a small patio of sorts (I’m not 100% sure what this room is called). On the floor will be a series of shells. Interact with the bottom-left shell.
Object – Spinning Top (10/12)
Continue to follow the crane until it lands in the laundry room and “dies”. You’ll eventually get attacked and wake up outside of a giant samurai helmet. Enter the mouth and look on the floor to the left of the table.
Letter – Dear Sir (2/3)
Story related. You pick this up from the table right where the previous collectible was.
Yokai – Tenome (20/25)
From the previous collectible, turn around and head towards the woman in the distance. After the short scene that plays out, you’ll wake up in a dimly lit room. The note is on the cabinet to your left.
Seal (8/10)
I’m not 100% sure if the Pattern Puzzle counts as a seal you can mess up, but I’ll include it here just in case. Refer to the Puzzle Solutions section, for a picture on how to properly solve it.
Yokai – Boroboroton (21/25)
This note will be on the wall right next to where you pick up the Katana.
Yokai – Mokumokuren (22/25)
After exiting the Katana maze, you’ll find yourself in a room with a lit fire and a tea kettle heating up. From the door you came in from, cut across to the far right side of the room to find this note on top of a small cabinet.
Yokai – Yurei (23/25)
After getting drunk and the scene of you killing a woman plays out, you’ll wake up back inside the laundry room. Make your way back to the room you started the game in and you’ll notice a scroll on the table. Don’t grab it just yet. Instead, go to the far wall and look inside the drawers that have been pulled out.
Object – Dagger (11/12)
Just above the previous note will be a small dagger inside a drawer. It’s tucked in the corner of the room.
Letter – Hello Naoko (3/3)
Now grab the letter on the table.
Yokai – Nuppeppo (24/25)
Return to the front of the shrine (the room where we performed the first purification, and look behind the left side of the altar.
Yokai – Amabie (25/25)
Inside the sacred cabinet, after solving the Jewel puzzle. Almost impossible to miss.
Object – Hososhi (12/12)
Directly above the previous note. Next to impossible to miss.
Seal (9+10/10)
These will be the last things you draw to finish the game. I’m unsure if you can die while making them, but you have plenty of time so be careful. It would suck to get this far and mess up on the last seals.
