1. Introduction
Hunt: Showdown is a unique blend of survival horror and battle royale developed by Crytek. Set in the late 1800s, players take on the role of bounty hunters, tracking and hunting monstrous targets in the swamps of Louisiana. The game combines PvE (Player vs. Environment) and PvP (Player vs. Player) elements, making every match a tense and unpredictable experience.
2. Game Overview
The core objective in Hunt: Showdown revolves around locating and eliminating powerful bosses. The process begins with tracking down clues scattered throughout the map.
Clue Collection: Each match begins with players searching for clues to pinpoint the location of a boss. Clues can be viewed from any distance but they look different depending on the range of the clue the different looks of the rang of the clues are listed below:
Clue near:
Clue far:
There is another type of clue, the Rotjaw’s Clue, which looks different and functions differently from normal clues. These clues are often hidden in foreboding, hard-to-reach places like abandoned buildings, eerie swamps, or dense forests. Clues come in various states: untouched, taken by another hunter, or when another hunter is nearby. The different variants of clues are listed below:
Nearby hunter:
Taken Clue:
Untaken Clue:
Rotjaw’s Clue:
Normal Clues: To determine the boss’s location, players must collect three normal clues. Each clue progressively narrows down the boss’s location, with the first clue providing an initial indication and subsequent clues refining the search area further.
Rotjaw’s Clues: Using the trace will direct a column of dark energy towards Rotjaw’s location. Hunters can use additional traces as they get closer to precisely pinpoint Rotjaw’s location. Once nearby, the boss icon will pulse in Dark Sight to indicate if enemy hunters are in the area, similar to how it functions with boss compounds.
How to track the clues:
As previously mentioned, clues come in different variants. Specifically, the clue will turn red when another hunter is within a 30m radius. (Note: All images depicting range will use Alice Farm as a reference and may not show the precise locations of the mentioned elements.).
When you are near a boss you can also see if a enemy hunter is close by in a 50m Radius.
The boss icon will pulsate red to indicate that enemy hunters are within a 50m radius. If the icon pulsates white, it means no enemy hunters are nearby.
Players must navigate to designated extraction points scattered across the map. These points are often located in open, vulnerable areas, requiring players to remain vigilant and prepared for ambushes.
Each map has the extractions on designated locations the locations for the extracts can be found by opening your map with the respective key and looking for 3 white arrows surrounding the extracts the extracts comes in two forms boat and carriage. They look like this:
Boat:
Carriage:
Fun fact: the horses of the carriage are bullet proof even with FMJ but the carriage is not
If a hunter dies in a match, they are permanently lost along with all their equipment. Unless you have a burn trait called death cheat if you have a death cheat you will not lose the hunter but you will lose the equipment that you brought along with the hunter.
Bounty Hunt : The main game mode involves hunting bosses and competing against other hunters. This mode can be played in either duos or trios.
Solo : A shorter, more intense mode where players race against the clock to find energy wells and become the last hunter standing.
3. Hunters Recruitment
Hunters can be recruited from a pool of random characters, each with their own starting equipment and traits.
Higher-level hunters can be more expensive but come with better gear and traits.
Legendary hunters : Legendary hunters are elite characters that come with unique appearances and exclusive weapon and gear skins. These hunters often have a rich backstory and distinct visual designs, setting them apart from regular and higher-level hunters. Acquiring a legendary hunter can provide several advantages. Legendary hunters have a recruiting cost of 100 Hunt Dollars. They do not come with any weapons or gear but do come with traits.
Traits
Traits are passive abilities that enhance a hunter’s performance. These can be acquired as a hunter levels up.

6. Enemies and Bosses
Grunts: Common enemies that are easy to kill but can overwhelm in numbers.
Different Types of grunts:
- Grunt with Cleaver: These grunts attack with a cleaver which can apply a bleeding effect.
- Grunt with Torch: These grunts carry a torch in their hand which can apply a light burning effect and they can also detonate any barrel or oil/fuel leak when they die and the torch drops it is best to watch your surroundings then killing these grunts as they be the cause of your death when a barrel is near by
- Grunt with Pistol: These grunts carry a pistol in their hand and when they melee you the gun shoots but the bullet does not discharge only doing melee damage, these shots can be heard from a 80m Radius the pistol cannot be picked up and will disappear with the body of the grunt
- Grunts with lamps: These grunts attack with lamps that can be lit or unlit
– Grunts with a lit lantern: If the Lantern is lit, this will create a small fire explosion (Just like throwing a lantern.
– Grunts with a unlit lantern: If the Lantern is unlit, this will create an oil pool and can be ignited. - Doctor Grunts: These grunts deal poison damage with a rusty bone saw that they are carrying. but they do drop a med-kit when you kill them
- Miner Grunts: They only appear in DeSalle they can also carry either a Torch or a cleaver but they wear a headlamp and the same effects apply to the headlamp as they do with the lantern grunt.
- Hives: Send swarms of insects to attack players these insects deal poison damage the hive can easily be killed by killing the head that is attached on the side of their head.
- Armored: The armored comes in two variants:
Constantina Armored: These armored’s are wrapped in constantina wire and any closeup melee damage to them or from them will result in a bleeding effect. the best way to take out these armored’s
The best way that I have found to take out any type of armored is to use a flair gun or any type of fire damage they will kill them instantly.
Normal Armored: With these armored’s you can go up and melee them they do not give a bleeding effect when they hit you. below are the data to kill a armored with a melee weapon:
Heavy Melee Weapons (axe, sledgehammer, etc.):
Heavy attack: 1-2 hits
Light attack: 3-4 hitsMedium Melee Weapons (machete, combat knife, etc.):
Heavy attack: 2-3 hits
Light attack: 4-5 hitsLight Melee Weapons (knuckle knife, dusters, etc.):
Heavy attack: 4-5 hits
Light attack: 6-8 hits
