Introduction
I rated every map in few criteria, such as:
- size – how big the map is,
- interiors – how many interiors there is and how well they are made,
- quality – overall quality of textures and city plan,
- roleplayability – how well fitted a map is to role play on it.
However, the ranking is based on my personal opinion about these maps, and not average rating of these criteria. I also wrote some of the most important pros and cons and included 3 screenshots of every map.
Addition #5

Size: 4/10
Interiors: 5/10
Quality: 4/10
Roleplayability: 7/10
This map by FraP-zsz is bigger and better version of old good Townsend. It isn’t the biggest, nor the prettiest map, but it has the vibe. It has working train system, which you wouldn’t expect on such a small map.
Pros:
- good vibes,
- train system.
Cons:
- overall quality,
- small area,
- closed skybox.
Addition #4

Size: 8/10
Interiors: 4/10
Quality: 5/10
Roleplayability: 4/10
Las Vegas is an interesting map made by Kenobi. It’s big, but has many disadvantages. The shops are in mismatched places. You will be disappointed when you will try to enter good looking buildings, because most of them are empty inside. Whole map seems out of place.
Pros:
- large area,
- open skybox.
Cons:
- overall quality,
- weird city plan.
Addition #3

Size: 4/10
Interiors: 6/10
Quality: 9/10
Roleplayability: 5/10
Union City by Fishke is good map, but not as good as its succesors. It’s quite small and doesn’t really have all the required interiors, but it has working metro system. In my opinion this map just lacks something.
Pros:
- quality,
- underground system,
- open skybox.
Cons:
- small area.
Addition #2

Size: 2/10

Roleplayability: 3/10
Quality of this map made by Kenobi is just outstanding. Such a shame it’s so small. I don’t have anything more to say.
Pros:
- overall quality.
Cons:
- tiny area,
- closed skybox.

This map was made by Xquality, and edited by Lelios and Ayjay. It’s quite big. Some of the interiors are nice. Overall, the elements of this map don’t really fit together. Sadly, train system doesn’t work.
Pros:
- open skybox.
Cons:
- overall quality.

Roleplayability: 5/10
Dunwood by Vawяiss is a well made city map. It’s quite big. However I don’t like some things about it. There are many houses, but hardly any apartments. I also don’t like this white-ish filter.
Pros:
- many houses and storages,
- open skybox.
Cons:
- hardly any apartments,
- weird filter.

Interiors: 6/10
Quality: 7/10
Roleplayability: 7/10
Star Island is an interesting map made by CornFlakes. It lies on 2 islands. It’s good, but in my opinion is a little bit out of place, these building in the middle of the city seem to have mismatched location.
Pros:
- open skybox.
Cons:
- weird city plan.
8th Place

Interiors: 6/10
Quality: 6/10

Opulent map by Bigalbroski is a really good map. I love its nature! It’s big. It has functional underground system. Suburbs part of the map is done really well.
Pros:
- suburbs,
- working underground system.
Cons:
- closed skybox.
7th Place

Size: 8/10
Interiors: 7/10
Quality: 5/10
Roleplayability: 8/10
This map was made by Statua and modified by Scotty. The textures outside the map are brilliantly made, because the make the map look huge. It has more features that you would think it has, including mine system, cinema, factory, and mafia house. It’s road grid it’s quite complicated, so you can get lost driving out of the city.
Pros:
- big area,
- unusual features.
Cons:
- overall quality,
- closed skybox.
6th Place

Interiors: 10/10
Quality: 7/10
Roleplayability: 7/10
Florida is a great map by Steinman. It’s quite big and very well optimised. It has most of the things you need for roleplay. Its interiors are one of the best ever created. Overall map feels really good.
Pros:
- interiors,
- underground system.
Cons:
- not really fitting area walls,
- closed skybox.
5th Place

Interiors: 5/10
Quality: 7/10
Roleplayability: 7/10
Newexton map by Vawяiss is for sure one of the best city maps in the game. It’s huge. It has a lot of features. However, I don’t like these artificial windows in houses and apartments.
Pros:
- huge size,
- train system.
Cons:
- artificial windows,
- closed skybox.
4th Place

Size: 7/10
Interiors: 6/10
Quality: 7/10
Roleplayability: 10/10
NY City is a final effort of Fishke. I don’t think it’s the best one though. I like the new mechanics of subway and bridge, but the map feels… uncompleted? It’s still a great map, don’t get me wrong.
Pros:
- working subway system,
- open skybox.
Cons:
- some of the windows are fake.
3rd Place
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2477080407
Size: 9/10
Interiors: 8/10
Quality: 10/10
Roleplayability: 10/10
Riverden is Steinman’s final effort and it’s awesome! Whole top 3 deserves the top spot in this list, but there is only one winner, and despite the highest ratings in every criteria, I just think it lacks something, it feels soulless. This map is big, really big. It has everything you need in a city roleplay map. I just can’t stand all the fake windows in all of the apartments.
Pros:
- overall quality,
- diversity,
Cons:
- closed skybox,
- lack of windows in apartments.
2nd Place
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2010286798&searchtext=south+side
Size: 6/10
Interiors: 6/10
Quality: 10/10
Roleplayability: 10/10
Yet another map made by Fishke in this list. I personally think it’s the best one (of Fishke’s maps). I’m still not sure about it not being in 1st place. It’s a great quality city. So many interiors, but I don’t like that many of them don’t have real windows. They look weird without them. I love the sewage system, and the shaft system both with a connection with a bank. It’s for sure one of the best Garry’s Mod cities ever made.
Pros:
- overall quality,
- sewage system,
- open skybox.
Cons:
- lack of windows in houses and apartments.
1st Place
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2574998259
Size: 7/10
Interiors: 8/10
Quality: 8/10
Roleplayability: 9/10
Rosecity is a map made by Crispy_Bongo. It’s quite big, it has a functional airport. It has basically everything one can want in a map. It isn’t the best in anything, but it’s great in everything. I think it’s the best Garry’s Mod city map.
Pros:
- skyscrapers accessible to enter, with offices on high levels and rooftops,
- open skybox.
Cons:
- small amount of apartments.
