Welcome to our guide for Dragon’s Dogma 2! In this article, we will help you with two important quests: “Spellbound” & “The Sorcerer’s Appraisal”. These quests involve finding Grimoires for Trysha and Myrddin. Completing these quests will earn you powerful spells such as Meteoron, Maelstrom, and Celestial Paean. These spells also count towards the Steam achievement “Master of the Maisters”. So let’s get started and become a master of magic in Dragon’s Dogma 2!
Introduction
~ Side Quests ~
- Both NPCs demand the same Grimoires to complete their quests.
- Completing them both will be much easier with access to forgeries from Ibrahim’s Scrap Store in Checkpoint Rest Town.
- There are two endings/ outcomes for the quest “Spellbound”, one good and one bad. You must give Trysha the real Grimoires and not any forged counterfeits for the best/ good ending.
- By completing “The Sorcerer’s Appraisal” first, before knowing the spell Meteoron, you can skip a few stages of the quest while still receiving full rewards.
- Some players have reported that it was necessary for them to raise extra affinity with the NPC before they were able to receive the rewards.
> The Sorcerer’s Appraisal
Note: This quest can be completed before obtaining the Meteoron spell from “Spellbound”/ Trysha. Not knowing the spell will skip steps 3 and 4.
Myrddin
Myrddin’s Home – Western Vermund – Checkpoint Rest Town
Myrddin’s Chronicle (Maelstrom sorcerer spell), Ares Morpho Robe, XP and Gold
- Speak with Myrddin at his home while wearing noble clothing
The quest can only be started while approaching Myrddin’s house while wearing the Courtly Tunic and Courtly Breeches. These are easily looted from multiple locations in Vernworth in both the Noble Quarter and the Castle. (Myrddin will be hostile if you sneak inside without being invited). - Gather 3-5 Grimoires for Myrddin
You only need to give him 3 Grimoires however they must each be unique. I also recommend to give Myrddin only the forged counterfeit copies as the real versions make no difference to the outcome. See below for all Grimoire locations. If you have previously completed “Spellbound” and learnt the spell Meteoron. - Obtain and wear Trysha’s “Turquoise Ring”
After seeing you with Meteoron, Myrddin will want to see proof of your friendship with Trysha to explain yourself. Trysha will gift this ring to you after the successful completion of “Spellbound”. - Wait one full day cycle and speak to Myrddin again
You can use the inn to rest or sit on a bench four times. Upon returning, Myrddin will reward you.
> Spellbound
Trysha
Eini’s Home – North Vermund – North West of Borderwatch Outpost
Conjurer’s Jottings (Meteoron sorcerer spell), Enchanter’s Almanac (Celestial Paean mage spell) Cast Stone (mage staff), Turquoise Ring, some XP and Gold.
- Speak with Trysha to initiate the quest
You may need to carry her outside of the house and speak with her alone if she does not give you the quest right away. - Gather 3-5 Grimoires to give to Trysha
You only need to give her 3 Grimoires however they must each be unique and they MUST be the original genuine copies and not Ibrahim’s forgeries. Forged copies will fail the quest losing all attached rewards. See below for all Grimoire Locations. - Wait a full day and then return to Trysha
You can rest until morning at the nearby campsite. The following step is affected by the passage of time! - Assist Eini & Eino
After returning to Eini’s House, Trysha will be uncontrollably casting spells. You need to keep dodging until you able to grab (‘R2’ on controller, ‘E’ on keyboard) and restrain Trysha. Do not attack her or leave the area as it will fail the quest. - Wait one more day after the event above
After another rest at the nearby campsite you can speak to everyone and collect your rewards.
~ Grimoire Locations ~
Be careful when handing in the real Grimoires in case you wanted to first create a forgery form Ibrahim for 6000g each. He can be found at his scrap store in Checkpoint Rest Town. You will need to wait 1 day cycle for each forgery to complete (inn rest until morning or 4 rests on a bench).

Closing Comments
- You only need to hand in 3 different Grimoires per NPC and not all 5.
- Real copies to Trysha and forgeries to Myrddin.
- Knowing Meteoron will cause “The Sorcerer’s Appraisal” to have a few more steps.
- All Grimoires, both genuine and forgeries, will carry over to NG+.
I think that is all. Please let me know if I have made any mistakes and I will see them corrected.
