Welcome to our guide on finding all the secrets in Master Levels for Doom II. Please note that not all levels have secrets, including The Combine and Nessus (which has a known bug). This guide will only cover the levels with secrets. Let’s start hunting!
Level 1: Attack
When you enter the building where the yellow key resides, a teleporter will open in the southwest of the map. Use the teleporter southwest of the building afterwards, then re-enter the teleporter you land on. Once you are at the newly-opened teleporter, step onto the space directly south of it to trigger this secret.
Level 2: Canyon
When you approach the south blue door, an alcove containing imps will open at the southeast of the map, in the green tech room (with 3 pinkies).
Head to that location, and press on the west wall of the alcove to find a backpack.
Once you approach the small nukage fountain in the marble room, a few compartments containing enemies will open, including one southwest of the brown brick area you came from.
Backtrack to that location, and open the rear wall of the compartment to find a megasphere.
After you climb the stairs into the hallway leading to the exit door, an alcove containing imps will open in the previous room. Push on the rear wall of the alcove to find a chaingunner (invisibility on Hurt Me Plenty or lower difficulty).
Press on the middle of the northern wall to find a super shotgun and a medikit past the exit door.
Level 3: The Catwalk
In the exit room, shoot at the middle of the west and east walls to reveal secret areas.
Level 4: The Fistula
At the east stairs to the blue key room, there is a wall in the south that’s different. You need the red key in order to open it.
Level 6: Subspace
Past the north red key door, open the left and right walls at the stairs to collect some items.
Level 7: Paradox
Walk upstairs just past the starting room and interact with the third column containing a supercharge.
In the southeastern portion of the map nearby the exit there is a fake wall. Go through it to find a megasphere while getting two additional secrets on the way.
Interact with the green torch in front of the yellow key to temporarily lower two walls containing buttons on either side behind you. You only need to press one of them to open the wall in the western side of the long hall leading outside.
In the room with three teleporters, open a wall at the southwestern corner. Walk around the border until you get the medikit as well as additional secret.
Level 8: Subterra
In the south nukage pool, there is a supercharge above the switch. To get this, you have to enter the teleporter either from the north or the east.
Level 9: The Garrison
In the room with the switch and a berserk pack, open the western wall.
In the first nukage pool, open the southwestern wall to enter a room with many health and armor bonuses and a teleporter leading you to the third and fourth secrets. After this, open the western wall to get out.
In the yellow key area, open a wall at the southeast corner of the spiral staircase.
Level 10: Black Tower
After activating a skull switch In the ground floor of the tower, walk upstairs until you reach the last step. Open the black, east wall to enter the secret alcove.
When you first enter the second floor don’t leave the teleporter. Instead turn around and open the wall containing a cell pack.
When you visit the fourth floor again (after getting the blue key), the northern alcove containing ammo and a soulsphere will have opened. Entering this alcove opens the wall nearby the first teleporter in the second floor.
Head to that location and press the blue skull button there. Go to the northeastern part of the circular corridor to find the skull switch. This opens a secret tunnel right next to the blue skull button, containing a berserk pack.
Taking the berserk pack there opens the blue skull wall in previous room for another secret. A switch here lowers a platform with a soulsphere in the exit cave.
Level 11: Virgil’s Lead
In the northeast hallway, behind the yellow door, open the west wall with a distinctive texture like the one you were supposed to do. Press the switch to lower a lift leading to a small closet with an imp and a megasphere.
Level 12: Minos’ Judgement
In the starting area walk up a staircase, then enter the door at either alcove. Walk downstairs and try to get some ammo and the super shotgun; an alcove containing a crowd of imps and spectres will open. Once they are dead enter this alcove to get an armor, a backpack and a berserk pack.
Next to the first blue door, press the switch to enter an alcove with two teleporters. Enter one of them and lower the platform with a soul sphere and an imp on it. Wait until it rises and run towards the (darker) alcove at the southeast. Open the wall here to find a BFG9000 (empty on Hurt Me Plenty or lower difficulty).
In the blue key area take a western path in the nukage pool. There are slimy walls at the south and west; open both to reveal secret areas.
Use the lift opposite the red door, then open a wall next to an object. Go to the last room and press the skull switch to temporarily open a secret wall between the objects in previous room.
Level 14: Geryon
In the eastern-most part of the level in the brick room, go to the platform with two techno lamps and open the wall there.
Level 15: Vesperas
In the nukage pool, walk through the right nukage fall to find a teleporter.
Level 16: Titan Manor
In the blue key room, straferun over the northern window to the tall cabin and collect some goodies.
In the blue key room, drop down the southern window and open the wooden wall opposite the water container with health bonuses. Step on the water container, then enter the rightmost pen that lowered. Stand on the leftmost pen’s door and wait until it is risen. Open the eastern wall and get the chainsaw here.
In the southern courtyard (near the secret #1) lower a metallic beam to get to a higher level where you can grab a plasma gun.
In the crate room, lower the crates. While the crates are lowered open the grey crate to find a megaarmor.
In the bedroom stand on the blue bed and open the northern wall. Press the switch there to start lowering the walls in the middle of the room; quickly straferun across them to get a computer map.
There is a baron wall near the exit. Open it to enter the alcove where you can press the skull switch to open another door in the opposite side of the alcove and press the second switch there.
After that you can return to the starting area and enter the northeastern tower. Press the switch to make a southern bridge. From the bridge enter the southwestern tower, then press the switch there. Go to the southeastern tower and lower a lift. In the top press the switch there to make another bridge leading to the southwestern tower with a teleporter at the end. From the teleporter jump through the wooden column, where you can get a light amplification visor and a BFG9000 on the lamp.
Level 17: Trapped on Titan
Pressing the switch behind the blue door raises a bridge from the central platform to the southwest of this area. From the southwest platform, walk east across the ledge as far as possible to reach the southeast platform and open the wall with a lion on it leading to a megasphere on a platform.
In the southwest area of the map there are four buildings. From the southern ledge of the central building, there is a lift in the centre leading up to a secret door leading to a small room with two boxes of rockets. The eastern wall of this room is a secret door leading to a room with a health potion.
Taking this lowers two walls leading to a ledge with a supercharge. At the northern end of this ledge is a window that is actually a lift, leading to a room with some imps and lost souls. The northern wall of this room contains a secret door leading to a platform with an energy cell pack.
Level 18: The Express Elevator to Hell
On the second floor, open the south wall of the dark room to reveal another teleporter, which goes to a hidden room on the fifth floor. Get the red key.
From the red key, drop to the floor below and look at the southeastern wall of the cross-shaped structure. You can open the dividing pillar between the windows using the red key to reveal a switch. Flip it, then go to the southern room on the fourth floor to collect the blue key (you first need to press the switch that unlocks the next floor).
Before going for blue key, lower two platforms leading to a button on the northeast side then quickly run towards the platforms with three rockets on the northwest side. Open the northwest wall to find the yellow key.
After visiting the third floor, two platforms with chaingunners on the fourth floor will start moving up and down. Go to the fourth floor and get on the northern platform, wait for it to lower then open a wall at the bottom and go round the corner to find shotgun shells and a button.
In the cage room on the sixth floor, open the southeast wall that has metallic bars on either side to find health bonuses, shotgun shells, a plasma gun and a medikit.
Trying to open the normal exit door will open two closets. Enter the northern closet and open the back wall to get an invulnerability sphere.
With three keys, all you need is to perform an arch-vile jump to the southwest ledge with the supercharge and BFG9000. Leave the last arch-vile alive if you can and get the invulnerability sphere from secret #3 before doing this. Open all of the locked doors here to find the secret exit leading to Level ?: Bad Dream.
Level ?: Bad Dream
In the starting area, open an obvious wall behind you.
Level 19: Bloodsea Keep
There is a switch hidden behind one of the black banners in the library. This opens a northern wall with a picture above the library which contains a super shotgun and shells.
Kill a mancubus standing in the western part of the blood pool surrounding the whole keep. An Invulnerability sphere next to a blue key can help you avoid damaging blood. Once it is killed head to the north to find the alcove opened that contains a chaingun with ammo and a teleporter leading you to the entrance hall. Note that this secret is not available for Hey, not too rough or lower difficulty.
Open the second wall with a lion on it at the left side of the long hall.
Still in the long hall, open the red banner wall (requires red key) at the northeast to reach a dungeon. A secret is obtained once you reach the dungeon cells at the end.
Level 20: Mephisto’s Mausoleum
After walking upstairs to a higher level, step towards the room with the arrow a bit to cross the line. This will make the platform border at the northwestern structure go up and down, so go back to that and use it. When it rises, jump over into the northern window with a stimpack in the dark, then open the wall to the west.
Open the northern and southern walls behind the blue door, before the lift.
