Introduction:
Achievement Breakdown: (43)
Story Related: (25)
Missable: (3)
Character: (3)
Collectibles: (5)
Slay: (6)
Miscellaneous: (1)
To earn 100% in Darksiders, we only need to complete one full playthrough on Apocalyptic Difficulty. A large majority of the Achievements for this game are Story Related & will just come naturally as we beat the game. There are three Missable Achievements we will have to watch out for that if missed, will result in having to restart a brand new playthrough. I flag these ahead of time, so if we Save beforehand, we have infinite attempts at earning them!
The rest of the Achievements are associated with Collectibles or grindy cumulative ones. There is an end game grind to this 100% where we need to level all three of our Weapons to Level 4 before we beat the game. Fortunately, this is not actually that bad & is doable less than a few hours.
For those who want to know, yes, this guide is compatible with the original Darksiders 1 as well. As far as I am aware, the Warmastered Edition only adds graphically improvements & changes nothing mechanically with the game.
For those interested, here is an organized list of all the Achievements/Secret Achievements. This is how I derive my Achievement Breakdowns & the first reference I create before I begin my 100% journeys.

Sequence 1: Answering the Call
2. Lifestone Shards: 1/16
3. Wrath Shards: 1/20
4. Abyssal Armor: 2/10
5. Artifacts: 1/27
6. Achievements: 5/43
—————————————————————————————————–
When we begin the game, be sure to start it on Apocalyptic Difficulty if you plan on earning your 100% across one full playthrough.
Achievement #1 – Open Air Parking: Destroy a Helicopter during the apocalypse with a vehicle.
Missable. As soon as the game begins, we will be thrown into a combat tutorial fighting some Demons. After two waves of fighting the Minions, the large Trauma Demon will drop down to fight us. Do not enter into Chaos Form as we are instructed to! We cannot pick up objects in Chaos Form which will void this Achievement!
Defeat the Trauma Demon manually with our sword, & we will be able to progress. Head around the corner down the street, & we will spot a massive stone golem with graves sticking out of its back. Walk towards it to see a short cutscene of the way behind us getting blocked off by some Hell spikes. This is where are Achievement takes place! This creates an Autosave we can reload to if you fail.
As soon as we regain control of War, only if you are not in Chaos Form, head over to any nearby vehicle & pick it up. With the vehicle in hand, you need to quickly aim it above where the stone golem is, & a Helicopter will imminently fly over it towards us. Throw the vehicle into the path of the Helicopter to destroy it; if you miss, immediately quit to the Main Menu & hit Continue to be returned to when the Hell spikes appear behind us to try again.
That was the first of the three Missable Achievements in this game. We can now relax for a while & just enjoy the game…
Tutorial Boss – Straga: “Defeat” the tutorial Boss, Straga, & we will complete the Prologue.
After we are chastised by the Charred Council, we will be sent back to Earth to locate the Demon, Vulgrim. The Seraphim Hotel is another tutorial area opening us up to more of the game. Should you need it, you can grab weaker enemies to perform special Executions that grant you Health…
Achievement #2 – Death Dealer: Meet Vulgrim.
Story Related. As soon as we enter the Crossroads, we will meet Vulgrim. Vulgrim is an important Merchant that we can be a few essential Collectibles from needed for some Achievements.
Make a point of opening any & all Chests we come across, even if you do not need the Health or Wrath bonus; for the Treasure Hunter Achievement, we need to open 150 Chests!
Artifact #1 – Soldier: Head over West from where Vulgrim is in the center of the Crossroads, & we can see a set of subway stairs close to an area blocked off by glowing crystals. Take the stairs down to a lower level & we will enter a cave full of water. Drop into the water, & dive down to the North corner where we can find our first of 27 Artifacts.
Achievement #3 – To Move A Mountain: Collect the Earthcaller.
Story Related. After you have collected at least 500 Souls, return back to Vulgrim, & we will receive this new piece of gear.
Lifestone Shard #1: Use the Earthcaller to move the Ancient Gate away from the entrance to a ruined library to progress onwards. Head up the stairs to enter the second room, & there will be some undead Wicked & exploding Fleshbursters. Kill the first Fleshburster, & we can drop down to fight another one in a flooded collapsed section of the room.
Before we climb up some Demonic Growth to carry on, head to the West end of this flooded section to find a deep pool. Drop into it, & dive down through a tunnel & swim up into a hidden cave to find this Lifestone Shard inside a Chest.
Every 4 Lifestone Shards we collect will form a Lifestone. For the Full Power Achievement we need to collect all Lifestones/Lifestone Shards.
Abyssal Armor Piece #1: As soon as we enter Scalding Gallow, look up to the right on second floor of the building ahead of us to see a glowing red crystal stuck onto a pillar. Pick up any vehicle nearby, & navigate around to the far side of the red crystal to see a pulsing Bomb in its center; throw the vehicle at this Bomb to detonate it, which will drop the pillar down.
Run up the pillar & it will take us to a Chest that contains this Abyssal Armor Piece.
Achievement #4 – Prison Break: Free Samael from his prison.
Story Related. Approach Samael’s prison, & we will need to defeat the Phantom General. Once he is defeated, complete a very short puzzle, & free Samael from his holding.
Achievement #5 – Chasm Jumper: Gain the Shadowflight Ability.
Story Related. We will receive the Shadowflight Ability from Samael after we free him from his prison…
Vulgrim: Instead of heading to our new destination towards the East using Shadowflight, take the Western path & head North. As we head down the road, we will see some strange blue glowing chimes above us – enter a building to our right & we can find Vulgrim.
Vulgrim is the only Merchant in the game & has many things available for us to purchase. As we play, we need to purchase all of the Weapons, Combat Moves, Level 1 Wrath Abilities, as well as some Items from him for a few Achievements.
We can also trade in our collected Artifacts to him for bonus Souls. At the moment, we most likely cannot buy much…
Wrath Shard #1: After we are finished speaking with Vulgrim, turn around & we can see some Demonic Growth on the wall behind us. Climb up it & we can collect this Wrath Shard from a Chest.
Abyssal Armor Piece #2: Drop back down to where Vulgrim is & walk over towards the hole in the wall that looks back at where we met Samael. Below us, will be a lava filled abyss, but look across from us where Samael was to make out a circular path a little ways above the lava. To reach it, take a single jump (it must be a jump as walking off the ledge will not work) wait a second or two before taking your double jump then activate Shadowflight to glide over onto the path.
When we land on it, take the path along up underneath Samael’s prison to find this next Abyssal Armor Piece inside a Chest.
Sequence 2: Irreparable Penance
2. Lifestone Shards: 4/16
3. Lifestones: 1/9
4. Wrath Shards: 2/20
5. Abyssal Armor: 2/10
6. Artifacts: 4/27
7. Achievements: 8/43
—————————————————————————————————–
Vulgrim: As soon as we enter the Choking Grounds, head to the center mausoleum dead ahead of us to find a new Vulgrim location.
Unless you really need them, refrain from purchasing any Combat Moves or Items until we acquire some essentials such as the available: Scythe, Wrath Shard, Wrath Core, & three Wrath Powers. These are all more expensive purchases & are associated with other Achievements – the Combat Moves we can chip away at when we have nothing else to spend our Souls on…
Items such as Rage, Life Essence, & Undying are single use Consumables & typically a waste of Souls unless you really need them. Enhancements are not required for any Achievement, but can have some useful effects.
Lifestone Shard #2: In the first area of the Choking Grounds will be a cemetery full of tombstones. Among them, will be 7 tombstones that look like this:
Destroy all 7 of these Tombstones, & a Chest will appear containing this Lifestone Shard Southwest of where we found Vulgrim.
Artifact #2 – Soldier: After we collect the Lifestone Shard, look nearby where we looted the Chest to find three large square tombstones. Drag the center tombstone to reveal a set of stairs leading down to a hidden room. Defeat the Wicked & summoned Undead, & we can collect this Artifact.
Achievement #6 – Reaper: Collect the Scythe.
When you have the Souls to spare, we can purchase the Scythe from Vulgrim for 1000 Souls, unlocking this Achievement.
This is one of the three Weapons we need to take to Level 4 & purchase all of its Combat Moves.
Artifact #3 – Soldier: Just North of where Vulgrim is located, we can find a set of stairs leading down into a small catacomb where we can find an Artifact. Defeat the Fleshburster & Wicked inside & collect it.
Wrath Shard #2: Head towards where our Task Waypoint is, & we will find an Ancient Gate. Before we use the Earthcaller to awaken it, look off our left to see a cave in the side of the nearby wall. Drop down through it into a building, & use Shadowflight to get up to the second floor. Defeat the Undead & Fleshburster up here, & we can loot this Wrath Shard from a Chest.
Achievement #7 – High Flier: Kill 5 Duskbats without touching the ground.
Use the Earthcaller now in front of the Ancient Gate, & we will have to enter into the Shadow Realm. Complete the 4 Shadow Arenas (being sure to loot all Chests at the end of each of them).
In the far Southeastern corner of the Shadow Realm, will be the Shadow Arena called The Gory End. Make a Save upon entering it in case you mess up. As soon as the Shadow Arena begins, 4 Duskbats will fly down at us. Leap into one of them & perform an instant Aerial Execution – while this is happening, turn the camera at the next Duskbat & launch into it as soon as the Aerial Execution is finished to perform another one. As we kill the Duskbats, more will fly down for a total of 8. Kill at least 5 of them using Aerial Executions without touching the ground to unlock the Achievement.
If you kill all 8 of the Duskbats & accidentally touch the ground, without unlocking the Achievement, reload your last Save/Checkpoint & try again.
Artifact #4 – Soldier: Pass through the Choking Grounds to reach the Broken Stair. When we get to the top of the road leading out of the tunnel, we can see a broken wall off our right that leads over to leaking sewer pipe. Follow the water down to a drop off to find this Artifact.
Vulgrim: At the South end of the Local Map, close by the building we need to enter to continue, we can see a Vulgrim sign dangling from the entrance to a subway tunnel. Take the stairs down & we will enter a tunnel that leads to a four-way crossroads. Take the path Northeast, following more Vulgrim signs to the dead end where Vulgrim is.
Wrath Power #2 – Stoneskin: By this point, if you have been saving your Souls, you should have enough to purchase the Stoneskin Power for 2000 Souls.
This can be purchased at anytime in the game…
Lifestone Shard #3: Leave Vulgrim & return back to the crossroads in the cave we are in. Take the pathway leading to the Southwest now into the water & we can dive down through it to access a hidden chamber where we can find this Lifestone Shard in a Chest.
Lifestone Shard #4: Return back to the surface & enter into the nearby building to continue onwards. At the upper floor, we can spot two Shadow Currents in row that lead over towards a broken overpass. As we glide over to the overpass, we can see a glowing green Chest in behind some cars ahead of us; run over to it to collect this Lifestone Shard.
Lifestone #1: Having collected at least 4 Lifestone Shards, they will combine to create a new Lifestone (health bar) for us.
Something to note as we play, for the Improvised Kills Achievement, we need to kill 150 enemies “using the environment”. The top contributor to this Achievement is throwing vehicles or objects into enemies to kill them. Chip away at this as we go whenever we find enemies near wrecked vehicles.
Achievement #8 – Aerial Predator: Kill 160 enemies while on the Angelic Beast.
Missable. To progress out of the Broken Stair, we will need to explore the building we are in to find the Beholder’s Key that will disable the barrier blocking our path. Before you disable the barrier, make a Save! We are approaching a Missable Achievement & you will want to reload your game if you mess up!
After encountering some Angels, we will hijack an Angelic Beast & need to kill at least 160 enemies during this section; this is the only time we ride one in the game. Pay attention to the little tutorial message we receive; tag as many enemies as you can before releasing is paramount to your success… spamming is also the key. This is a very difficult Achievement, & patience is required…
We are on a railroaded path with scripted enemies that fly in our way. As fast as possible, tag as many if not everything you encounter & kill them. The other important thing to note is that there will be large groups of green/red bats that fly away as we pass when we enter the cave section; this is where we rack up the most kills as they are in large groups, though fly fast. Focus on killing the weaker enemies before the harder/multiple hit enemies to really capitalize on kills.
The Achievement will unlock the moment that you hit 160 kills. If it does not unlock before the end of this section when you encounter Tiamat, reload your Save & try again before continuing on.
Sequence 3: The Dusk Queen
2. Lifestone Shards: 5/16
3. Lifestones: 2/9
4. Wrath Shards: 4/20
5. Wrath Cores: 2/8
6. Abyssal Armor: 3/10
7. Artifacts: 8/27
8. Achievements: 11/43
—————————————————————————————————–
Vulgrim: After our first encounter with Tiamat, we will find ourselves in the Twilight Cathedral. Immediately to the right of the cathedral entrance, we can find Vulgrim outside in a small courtyard.
Wrath Shard #3: Especially if you earned the Aerial Predator Achievement, we should have more than enough Souls to purchase this Wrath Shard from Vulgrim for 2500 Souls.
The only other Item we need to buy from him is a full Wrath Core, but that is 10,000 Souls. For your sanity, feel free to purchase some new Combat Moves for Chaoseater to help you along before saving for the Wrath Core…
Artifact #5 – Soldier: As we progress through the Twilight Cathedral, we will need to push a statue off of a ledge to break through the floor below to continue. Do just that, & drop down in through the hole we made. Leap across a lava pit, kill some Undead, & we will need traverse along two ledges to reach some Demonic Growth. As we approach this Demonic Growth, we can see an Artifact floating mid air across from it; leap off the Demonic Growth wall from the top, backwards, to collect it.
Lifestone Shard #5: Collect the Beholder’s Key & use it to snag another Crystal Sword we can use back in the large chamber to the only remaining locked door to us at the moment. Enter into it, & there will be another Crystal Sword we can collect as well as a Bomb. In the South corner of this room, will be a hole in the wall with a Bomb Growth inside it; grab the Bomb, throw it into the growth to destroy it, & we can loot this Lifestone Shard from a Chest.
Artifact #6 – Champion: Use the Crystal Sword to progress into the next room, & use a Shadow Current to get higher up into it. Do not continue through the door ahead, & instead turn around where we got up to see an Artifact floating in the air behind us. Drop back down, & use this Shadow Current to collect it.
Achievement #9 – Elemental Thief: Collect the Crossblade.
Story Related. Carry on to the upper level of the main chamber & use the Bomb to hit the Goremaw holding a statue head from the ceiling. When it explodes, it will drop the statue through the floor, & we can continue. Drop down into a lava filled area, & attack a three headed statue to unchain it to receive this new piece of gear.
Artifact #7 – Soldier: With the Crossblade, we can progress onwards to reach a room that has three Crystal Sword Statues in it. From where we enter this room, pass through the Door to the West & we will enter a room with a long suspended stone bridge. Walk out to the bridge’s center, then look down to the North corner to see an Artifact in a small alcove below where a Bomb Growth is. Glide down to it.
Wrath Shard #4: Complete the first two Crystal Sword puzzles & we will unlock the locked door. Pass into this room, & look off to your left where we enter to find this Wrath Shard inside a glowing Chest… the Chest will disappear as we approach it however, & we will need to kill some Undead before we can open it.
Wrath Core #1: With four Wrath Shards collected, we will obtain our first Wrath Core.
Abyssal Armor Piece #3: Complete the third Crystal Sword puzzle, using the Beholder’s Key we just collected, killing The Jailer Mini-Boss, & fighting through a few other rooms. Place the third Crystal Sword into the statue, & the podium will raise up & allow us to progress.
Before we go to pass through the door to Tiamat’s boss room, jump up to the upper level using the block that we pushed down earlier & we can see a door that is blocked by a Goremaw. Use our Crossblade to incapacitate it, & pass inside the room it guarded. Head along the level we enter on to find this Abyssal Armor Piece inside a Chest.
Wrath Core #2: In the same room, drop down through a hole in the floor to the lower level (do not glide over to the opposite end of the room over the lava!). Down here, we can find a full Wrath Core inside a Chest.
That is all we can collect in the Twilight Cathedral, & we can move on to kill the first of four Chosen…
Achievement #10 – Like A Bat Outta Hell: Defeat Tiamat.
Story Related. Tiamat has two phases. For the first, we need to throw an Inert Bomb onto her then detonate it with our Crossblade passing through fire. For the second phase, we have to go toe to toe with her; whenever she leaps into the air quickly get away & jump up to avoid the shockwave she creates. After punching her back with two quick time events, we can kill her once & for all, & reclaim the Heart of the Chosen.
Lifestone #2: We will receive a full Lifestone after we kill Tiamat.
Wrath Power #3 – Immolation: The Immolation Wrath Power is now available for sale from Vulgrim for 2500 Souls. Purchase it when you can…
Serpent Hole: We can now also Fast Travel between all discovered Vulgrim locations as well which will really cut down on our walking time.
Artifact #8 – Soldier: Use the Serpent Hole to return back to the Crossroads. From Vulgrim, enter into the library dead ahead of us. Take the stairs up, & drop down into the main chamber. Across from where we drop down, we can see a broken portion of the bookshelves we can climb up. Do so, & it will take us to a diverging path along a wooden walkway. We cannot head straight, so take the left path & we can see this Artifact on the other side of the room; use Shadow Flight to cross the broken walkway to reach it.
Return Tiamat’s Heart to Samael: Carry on through the library to the Scalding Gallow & gift Samael Tiamat’s Heart. Samael will alter our bargain, & we must deal with the Old One called Ulthane. There is a Missable Achievement associated with our encounter with Ulthane!
Achievement #11 – Don’t Make Me Angry: Collect the Chaos Form Ability.
Story Related. For giving him Tiamat’s Heart, Samael will help us in unlocking our Chaos Form Ability. How kind.
Sequence 4: The Black Hammer
2. Lifestone Shards: 6/16
3. Lifestones: 2/9
4. Wrath Shards: 4/20
5. Wrath Cores: 2/8
6. Abyssal Armor: 5/10
7. Artifacts: 10/27
8. Achievements: 14/43
—————————————————————————————————–
Now that we have the Crossblade, we are able to progress West out of Scalding Gallow by igniting an Inert Bomb to destroy a Bomb Growth. Pass through a large cistern like area with a large fan blade, & we will enter into the Drowned Pass…
Vulgrim: When we first enter the area, the path will go left & there will be a lake dead ahead of us. Take the upper pathway along to our left & kill a new form of Fleshburster, called a Ravenous which is covered in blue flame. With it dead, exit out of the first tunnel & take the path to our right to circle around to a Vulgrim location.
There is no point in saving up for Vulgrim’s Wrath Core at the moment, so feel free to spend your Souls on whatever you like.
Artifact #9 – Soldier: Ignore the path ahead for now, & leap down into the lake below instead. Swim over to the North end of the lake & dive down to see the path splitting four ways; take the shortest of the paths leading North & we can find this Artifact in a cave behind a waterfall.
Abyssal Armor Piece #4: Swim back to the underwater intersection & this time dive down to swim through the passage leading East. When we surface, we will need to kill some Phantom Guards & a Shadow Caster. We can loot this Abyssal Armor Piece from a Chest after we are finished with them…
Achievement #12 – Slayer: Kill 666 Demons.
This will come naturally as we play through the game; we will most likely be killing six times this amount by the end of our 100%…
Artifact #10 – Soldier: To leave the lake, we need to swim further South into the next section of it with two sunken buildings in its center. Approach the first sunken building in our way, & if you look in through a window, you can see this Artifact on its upper floor. To get to it, swim into the floor below it & up some stairs.
Lifestone Shard #6: West of the two sunken buildings, we can see a weird glowing blue Obelisk in the water. Strike it with your Sword, & it will rise up to become a stepping stone for us. Swim down to the Southwest to find a slope we can walk up to reach it after killing some Demons. Jump across the raised Obelisk to find this Lifestone Shard in a Chest.
Abyssal Armor Piece #5: To progress onwards, we need to awaken an Ancient Gate using the Earthcaller. To break its curse, we will once again need to pass into the Shadow Realm & complete 4 Shadow Arenas. Return back to the real world & we will receive this Abyssal Armor Piece as a reward for helping the Ancient Gate.
Vulgrim: We can find the next Vulgrim location quite easily. Cross over the gap in the sewer tunnel doing some hand-over-hand traversal along a wire & we can see the Vulgrim signs above us & can find him down a tunnel to the South.
Achievement #13 – One Tough Cookie: Meet Ulthane.
Story Related. When we enter into Anvil’s Ford proper, we will see a large hammer in the center of the area. Make a Save before grabbing it! After we defeat Ulthane in a fight, we will be locked into another one that has a Missable Achievement attached to it! It is very important that you make your own Save as the Autosaves will not take us all the way back to the start of the fight!
We will unlock this Achievement as soon as we stagger Ulthane in our Chaos Form.
Achievement #14 – Who’s Counting?: Defeat more Angels than Ulthane.
Missable. After we stagger Ulthane, our fight will be interrupted by some Angels. We will enter into a little friendly competition with Ulthane to see who can kill more Angels; we need to beat him in this competition or the Achievement is void! Should you fail, you will have to reload your last Save & try again.
This is very challenging, & for the first couple kills, Ulthane will most likely be in the lead unless you are proficient in combat. Try stealing his kills as he beats the Angels down, & if nothing else, he will help you stay alive as this is can be a pretty challenging sequence.
The key to our success will arrive in the form of a Storm Warden after we use a Bomb to blow up a bridge for Ulthane to continue. Kill the Storm Warden & grab their massive Redemption Cannon & use it to win this competition; it has unlimited ammo. When you can (& it is safe to do so), try shooting the Angels fighting Ulthane to steal the kills from him.
There are around 78 Angels total to kill; we will unlock the Achievement at the end of the sequence when we are forced to drop our Redemption Cannon to continue…
Succeeding at this Achievement will reward us with the Combat Lore Weapon Enhancement. I strongly recommend attaching this to our Scythe so that we can boost our earned Xp for it.
Sequence 5: Temporarily Pacifying
2. Lifestone Shards: 7/16
3. Lifestones: 3/9
4. Wrath Shards: 8/20
5. Wrath Cores: 3/8
6. Abyssal Armor: 6/10
7. Artifacts: 13/27
8. Achievements: 17/43
—————————————————————————————————–
The Griever: Enter into The Hollows & we will immediately encounter the Griever. To chase her off, blast her in her crystalline stomach with a Redemption Cannon.
Artifact #11 – Soldier: Once she leaves, continue through this ruined subway station until you reach a flooded room with a Bomb Growth barring our way. Swim down, use the switch to turn on some gas, & use the Crossblade to ignite it.
With the Bomb Growth destroyed, carry on into the next room & head down the stairs. In this room, we can see a large pit off to the side filled with water. Leap into it & dive to the bottom to find this Artifact.
Abyssal Armor Piece #6: Return back up to the top of the room & carry on into the next where a Demonic Gate will bar our way. Eliminate it, & we will get blocked by yet another Demonic Gate in the next room. Halfway through defeating the Minion Goreclaws, a hulking Gholen will bust through a wall; in behind where it came from, we can see this Chest that has the Abyssal Armor Piece.
Don’t forget to grab it before we continue on!
Wrath Shard #5: When the way is cleared, drop down into a flooded hole in the tunnel & we will need to locate a Beholder’s Key to continue. Drop into the other flooded tunnel & we will need to find a way to shutdown a fan. Navigate through the tunnels to reach the fan shut off controls, & we can find this Wrath Shard in the same room.
Achievement #15 – Tremor Bringer: Collect the Tremor Gauntlet.
Story Related. After locating the Beholder’s Key, use it to enter the next room where we will collect the Tremor Gauntlet.
This is our final primary Weapon that will require us to get to Level 4. Use the Scythe or Tremor Gauntlet when you can in combat, but do not die over it; we will farm Xp to max them out at the end of the game when we collect the best farming Enhancement…
Artifact #12 – Soldier: Enter into the large railway substation & we will need to complete a puzzle. Begin raising up three platforms to get higher in the room; at the third platform, before raising it, we can use Shadowflight to reach this Artifact in an alcove just South of us.
Lifestone Shard #7: To complete this puzzle, we need to navigate a Moveable Object along these three platforms to be able to reach the upper floor. Drag it onto the first platform, then while holding it, use the Tremor Gauntlet to punch it over onto the second platform. Raise the second platform, lower the third, & punch it over. Raise the third platform with the Moveable Object on it & we can use it to jump up.
Now use the Tremor Gauntlet to destroy various Ice Crystals that will allow us to backtrack into The Hollows – we will also encounter the Griever for a second time along the way. Backtrack all the way to the first main entrance way of The Hollows, complete a difficult encounter, & carry on to enter Platform A – E.Main.
Before heading down the subway tunnel, walk in behind two wrecked trains to find this Lifestone Shard in a Chest.
Artifact #13 – Champion: Nearby we can see a Bomb Growth we need to destroy. Do so after finding an Inert Bomb close by, & enter the next room which will be fairly large. The first part of the room will have a trench in the middle of it with water at the bottom; remember this spot.
Carry on into the next chamber of the room & complete a puzzle to raise up the water level which will allow us to collect a Beholder’s Key.
Navigate back to the room I previously mentioned, & drop into the now filled up trench. Swim down into a small tunnel at the bottom, & swim up inside it to reach this Artifact.
Wrath Shard #6: Use the Beholder’s Key to continue on, & navigate to the last room before we fight the Griever. Here, will be a large canyon that we will need to raise up the water level in to continue. Before we break the second Ice Crystal to raise up the water level, look across the canyon from it to loot this Wrath Shard from a Chest.
Achievement #16 – Rocked Your Face Off: Defeat The Griever.
Story Related. When the Griever arrives, we first need to destroy all of the Ice Crystals with our Tremor Gauntlet. If the Ice Crystals are hit by the Griever’s laser beam, they will heat up & we will be unable to break them. We have to lure the laser beam away from the Ice Crystals so they can cool if this happens.
When the Ice Crystals are gone, grab & Shockwave Punch the railcar into the Griever twice so we can punch the Ice Crystal in its stomach.
This will enrage the Griever & it will send Swarmers at us & we will need to hit it twice with the railcar again so we can strike its gooey interior; if possible, use Chaos Form to speed things up when attacking the Griever’s heart. If you are quick, you can immediately punch the railcar back into the Griever before it begins knocking down rocks at us; once it starts though, don’t even try, & wait it out or your health will just get ruined.
Lifestone #3: Defeat the Griever to receive this Lifestone.
Achievement #17 – An Old Friend: Collect Mercy.
Story Related. Return to see Ulthane at his smithy, & he will gift us with this cool new piece of equipment…
Wrath Shard #7: Before we go to leave Anvil’s Ford, we may as well collect two more Wrath Shards while we are here. Head West into the large area where we had to kill all the Angels with Ulthane. Leap over the river to continue West, then take the doorway North across from where we go to enter The Hollows. When we exit outside, we can see some Demonic Growths growing on the side of the walls above the river.
Get to them, & we can climb them over to a Chest with this Wrath Shard in it.
Wrath Shard #8: Do not use the Serpent Hole to get back yet, & instead go to where the entrance to the Drowned Pass is. Here we can see some Ice Crystals at the far end of the tunnel we are heading down; break them to find this Wrath Shard in a Chest.
Wrath Core #3: With four more Wrath Shards collected, they will form into our next Wrath Core.
Sequence 6: Dust to Dust
2. Lifestone Shards: 10/16
3. Lifestones: 5/9
4. Wrath Shards: 9/20
5. Wrath Cores: 3/8
6. Abyssal Armor: 6/10
7. Artifacts: 17/27
8. Achievements: 22/43
—————————————————————————————————–
Return the Griever’s Heart to Samael: Return to see Samael at the Scalding Gallow & give him the second Chosen’s Heart.
Achievement #18 – Time Lapse: Gain the Chronomancer Ability.
Story Related. Samael will bestow this new Passive Ability upon us in return for the Griever’s Heart.
Artifact #14 – Soldier: Head North out of the Scalding Gallow & destroy an Ice Crystal to continue onwards. If you still need it, there is a good spot to earn the High Flier Achievement in the tunnel ahead with exactly 5 Duskbats in it.
Use the Chronosphere to slow down time so you can pass through the timed gate & we will have to kill a Fleshburster at the end of the tunnel. Climb up some girders in the wall & leap backwards in through a broken pipe; when we land in this pipe, turn around to see this Artifact at a dead end beside us.
Lifestone Shard #8: Enter into The Dry Road & follow the path down until we see a cutscene with some Dark Angels. Defeat them, then look over to the area South of us to find this Lifestone Shard up on a ledge along the boundary walls.
Lifestone #4: Will obtain this Lifestone after collecting the next set of 4 Lifestone Shards.
Artifact #15 – Soldier: While still at this upper ruined concrete area in the South, head to the far end of it to find this Artifact up above a Soul Chest.
Vulgrim: Drop down to the lower section of this ruined concrete area, & we can see a bunch of Vulgrim signs hanging from a cave entrance across the trench to the West. Shadowflight over to the cave & we can find Vulgrim inside it.
Wrath Shard #9: Speak with Vulgrim, & enter the Serpent Hole to any location (where doesn’t matter) then re-enter the Serpent Hole to travel back to The Dry Road. In the Serpent Hole, turn around from where we start & we can see a path leading backwards that will take us to a Chest with this Wrath Shard in it.
Lifestone Shard #9: Pass into The Ashlands & navigate through until we reach a room with three Goremaws hanging over a wire. Use a charged up Crossblade, & mark all three of them to stun the Goremaws, then quickly use Shadowflight to get on the wire. Immediately begin boosting along the wire to get to the Demonic Growths on the left side & climb across them to get to the room exit.
Pass through the metal pipe & we will exit out into another tunnel. From where we exit, look behind us to see some Ice Crystals; destroy them with the Tremor Gauntlet to reveal a Chest with this Lifestone Shard in it.
Vulgrim: A little ways further down this tunnel & we can spot some more Vulgrim signs hanging off our left. Enter through the cave near them to find Vulgrim.
Artifact #16 – Soldier: Now we will enter The Ashlands in full. Hit the nearby Chronosphere using our Crossblade & safely make it across the sands to the far side ahead of us. Navigate through the first portion of this area until we reach series of active wooden drills being defended by a host of Phantom Guards.
Defeat them, & we will eventually deactivate the center-most drill & be able to drop down through the hole it was digging to continue. We will fall down into a flooded cave; dive down to the bottom of it to find this Artifact.
Lifestone Shard #10: Leave the flooded cave now & we will enter a tunnel that is full of Goremaws. At the end of this tunnel, to the East, we can spot a Shadow Current that we can use to reach a Chest directly above it with this Lifestone Shard in it.
Achievement #19 – Reunited: Obtain Ruin.
Story Related. Quite a ways further into the Ashlands, we will enter a large arena & have to fight off waves & waves of Demons. Eventually, we will need to duel the Abyssal Gladiator who rides the demonic horse, Ruin. Defeat him, & we will reclaim this horse.
Not only do we need to kill 150 Demons cumulatively while riding Ruin, we also need to accumulate 100 miles of distance will riding them as well for two different Achievements. Any chance you can, ride Ruin & kill enemies with them!
Achievement #20 – River of Blood: Shed 3000 gallons of Demon blood.
This will come naturally as we work towards our 100%; you are able to check how far along you are in the Stats tab in game.
Artifact #17 – Soldier: Using Ruin & Mercy, return back to where we first were locked in with the Ashworm & kill it by shooting it in its mouth as it tries to eat us. Once it is dead, we will have to fight through a cave system filled to the brim with Phantom Guards that ends with a flooded section. Drop into the water at the end & swim down to the bottom to find this Artifact floating near the center of the room.
Vulgrim: Unlike most areas, we can find a second instance of Vulgrim here in the Ashlands at the end of the tunnel close to where we will enter the Stygian’s boss room.
Wrath Power #4 – Affliction: You may have purchased this Wrath Power a while back as it was available the moment we unlocked The Ashlands, but if not, now is as good a time as any. It will cost us 2500 Souls to purchase this final Wrath Power.
Achievement #21 – Wrath Machine: Collect all 4 Wrath Powers.
At this point in the game, all 4 Wrath Powers are available to us for purchase & fortunately they are not very expensive. Buy them all, without needing to Upgrade them past Level 1, to unlock the Achievement.
Achievement #22 – Ashes to Ashes: Defeat The Stygian.
Story Related. Now it is time to take on our next Chosen, the Stygian. Ride up close to her face & cut off the metal cage around her head. Then the fight will go similarly to how we defeated the Ashworm. The fight is unfortunately padded with frequent attacks by Baby Ashworms which just whittle down your health & make this battle much more tedious than it had to be…
Lifestone #5: We will acquire another full Lifestone after defeating the Stygian.
Return the Stygian’s Heart to Samael: Return to Samael in the Scalding Gallow, & give him the third Chosen Heart as per our bargain.
Sequence 7: Whom the Chosen Fear
2. Lifestone Shards: 10/16
3. Lifestones: 6/9
4. Wrath Shards: 11/20
5. Wrath Cores: 3/8
6. Abyssal Armor: 7/10
7. Artifacts: 20/27
8. Achievements: 25/43
—————————————————————————————————–
Pass back through the initial large area in the Ashlands, & follow the Task Waypoint to the Soul Bridge that we can cross using Ruin. Just before we enter into the Iron Canopy, we will be intercepted by some Brood Warriors…
Wrath Shard #10: After we break out of the cocoon, enter into a webbed off room & use the Chronosphere to get past the Brood Guardian hanging above a wire. Head through the streets & cross over a ramshackle bridge that will collapse after we get to the far side.
Continue down this next street & we will be attacked by three Dark Angels. When they are defeated, look back the way we came & in the far-right corner close to where the bridge was, we can see a squared off wooden wall; destroy it to find a Chest with this Wrath Shard inside it.
Beholder’s Key: Head to the far end of the street now, & pass through a web door to enter a large multi-leveled room. The Beholder’s Key is in a Chest found at the top of the room. To reach it, we will need to use a tilting bridge & a Chronosphere.
Achievement #23 – Devastator: Kill 10 enemies with one Blade Geyser Wrath Attack.
Blade Geyser is the first Wrath Power we will have unlocked in the game. For this Achievement, we need to kill 10 enemies at the same time with a single use of this Wrath Power. Iron Canopy has several rooms that are full of Broodlings making it the perfect place to try for this Achievement. While Upgrading the Wrath Power to a higher Level can be useful, this can also be done with the base Level 1 version of it.
If you have the Wrath to spare & enter a room with 10+ Broodlings, aggro them, & kite them all together as close as you can before activating Blade Geyser. As we play through Iron Canopy, I will note some ideal rooms to attempt this Achievement…
Wrath Shard #11: With the Beholder’s Key, we can enter into a new room that will have a Goremaw & a Moveable Block in it; this is room is a good place to unlock the Devastator Achievement. Aggro all of the Broodlings then quickly jump onto the Moveable Block to bunch them all up. Once they are a grouped up mass, drop off the block & instantly use Blade Geyser to massacre them.
Get the Goremaw to grab the Moveable Block & use it to take us up to the upper wooden walkways above. Jump off onto them, & we can spot a Chest with this Wrath Shard on an isolated ledge.
Artifact #18 – Soldier: Stun the Brood Guardian by getting the Goremaw to drop the Moveable Block & we can get out of this room back out into the streets. Fight off some Shadow Undead, then head up some fire escape stairs. Across from where it breaks off, we can spot an Artifact on top of a wall we can use Shadowflight to reach.
Blade Geyser Room: Navigate through the Iron Canopy & complete the Moveable Block/Elevator room puzzle. Defeat a few waves of Shadow Undead & a unique Gholen called an Earthcracker, then enter the next room which will be LOADED with Broodlings we can kite together & kill for the Devastator Achievement.
This is also the room we will be returning to at the end of the game to farm Xp…
Achievement #24 – Reach Out & Touch Somebody: Collect the Abyssal Chain.
Story Related. Press on further into the Iron Canopy & another bridge will eventually collapse behind us. Pass into the following room & we will reach the location of the Abyssal Chain.
Abyssal Armor Piece #7: Now that we have the Abyssal Chain, we need to go track down a second Beholder’s Key to progress. Navigate through this area until you reach a Chronosphere we need to activate to bypass some Goremaws guarding the Beholder’s Key. Before activating it though, look above us to see a Red Chain Point on the ceiling; use the Abyssal Chain on it & we can leap off it to enter a room this Abyssal Armor Piece.
Beholder’s Key: Now activate the Chronosphere & quickly use the two Blue Chain Points to swing past the Goremaws to get to an upper ledge where we can find the second Beholder’s Key in a Chest.
Artifact #19 – Champion: Now we must backtrack through Iron Canopy & kill the remaining three Brood Guardians so that we can go after Silitha. When we kill the second Brood Guardian, enter into the following room where we previously had to kill that Earthcracker. In this room, will be a side door we can pass through in the Southwest corner.
Enter it, & we can see a Red Chain Point above us. Use it, & it will take us up to an upper ledge with this Artifact on it.
Legendary Enhancement – War’s Glory: Kill the remaining Brood Guardians & then defeat the Brood Mother Mini-Boss. Once she is defeated, pass through a sewer like system until we reach a massive cistern with some Shadow Currents & Blue Chain Points ahead of us. Use the first Shadow Current, but immediately spin around to look back where we came from to reach a ledge with a Chest containing this Legendary Enhancement.
This is arguably the best Enhancement in the entire game due to the fact that it radically increases how much Weapon Xp we earn; this is going to be paramount for the Battle Hardened Achievement.
Achievement #25 – One Mean Mother: Defeat Silitha.
Story Related. Now it is time to progress to Silitha’s boss room. The key to defeating Silitha is dodging. When she teleports above us or in front of us, you need to dodge out of the way then back in so you can attack her. When you can, use Chaos Form to do some devastating damage to her. I found Silitha the most annoying/difficult boss to defeat in the game…
Lifestone #6: We will acquire a full Lifestone for defeating Silitha.
Artifact #20 – Soldier: After we kill Silitha, we will need to get out of this new room we have fallen down into. Above us, we can see a floating Obelisk with a Red Chain Point below it. Strike the Obelisk with the Crossblade, then grapple onto the Red Chain Point to get lifted up.
Before it takes us to the very top of the room, drop off it early to land on a middle floor where we can find this Artifact hidden in behind some jagged black stone.
Hold off on spending your Souls with Vulgrim until after we complete the Ashlands; we will have enough to buy the Wrath Core he has for sale & get that out of the way…
Sequence 8: Heaven Hunts You…
2. Lifestone Shards: 12/16
3. Lifestones: 7/9
4. Wrath Shards: 17/20
5. Wrath Cores: 7/8
6. Abyssal Armor: 8/10
7. Artifacts: 23/27
8. Achievements: 26/43
—————————————————————————————————–
Artifact #21 – Soldier: Since we have the Abyssal Chain now, we can quickly go & backtrack through the areas & snag the Collectibles that we missed. Because we are here, let’s start with the Ashlands.
In the central desert area where we first encountered the patrolling Ashworm, ride over to the far Northeast corner of the map, North of the first Demon drilling tower. A little ways up from it, around a cliff wall, we can spot a Shadow Current in the sand; use it to get up onto a ledge. Climb up some Demonic Growth to our left, & we can find an Artifact up here.
Abyssal Armor Piece #8: In the same location, climb down the Demonic Growth & we can use to Red Chain Points to get across up above where the first drill tower is. Look up at the drill tower from here, & we can see another Red Chain Point attached to it; to reach it, you need to jump towards it & use the Abyssal Chain in mid air. We can find this Abyssal Armor Piece in a Chest up here.
Wrath Shard #12: Drop back down to the sands below & continue to ride further Northeast along the same cliff wall we found the Shadow Current near. A little ways along it, we can spot some Ice Crystals stuck into the cliff wall. Destroy it with the Tremor Gauntlet & we can find this Wrath Shard in a Chest behind it.
Wrath Core #4: We will obtain a full Wrath Core after collecting the next 4 Wrath Shards.
Artifact #22 – Overlord: Now head back to where the three clustered drill towers are & get on top of the centermost drill (we can use the Abyssal Chain to expediate the journey up). Once we are here, we can see a Blue Chain Point attached to the top of the third drill; use the Abyssal Chain to reach it. On top of the third drill now, we can find a Lever we can use to shut it down. Drop down to where it was drilling, & we can hop in through the hole it made which will take us right to this unique Artifact.
Wrath Core #5: Return back to Vulgrim now & turn in our newly obtained Overlord Artifact to receive this full Wrath Core for free.
Wrath Core #6: Turning in the Overlord Artifact will also grant us 5000 Souls. If you still had some Artifacts to turn in & haven’t spent all your Souls since fighting Silitha, we should have more than the needed 10,000 Souls for the Wrath Core Vulgrim has for sale. If not, save them up until you do…
Once it is out of the way, we just need to purchase the remaining Combat Moves for Chaoseater, the Scythe, & the Tremor Gauntlet.
Wrath Shard #13: At Vulgrim, take the Serpent Hole to The Dry Road, then begin making your way back into The Ashlands from here (we can see a Jailer patrolling around as a new respawning enemy). Get back to the room that has those three Goremaws hanging over a wire we had to get across.
Climb up the Demonic Growth to the vantage point overlooking the wire, but do nothing with the Goremaws. Instead, look directly above us to find a Red Chain Point we can use with the Abyssal Chain. Leap off to access a hidden cave that ends with a Chest containing this Wrath Shard.
Wrath Shard #14: Ignore Samael for now, & let’s go to the Crossroads instead. From Scalding Gallow, head backwards towards the Crossroads & enter into the library. In the main room, get up to the second floor where all the broken walkways are & we can see a Blue Chain Point above us. Swing across it to find a Chest with this Wrath Shard in it.
Lifestone Shard #11: Now we go to the Choking Grounds next. From Vulgrim, head to the Northeast exit of the main area where we had to move the Ancient Gate. Close to where we found it, we can see that hole in the side of the wall with some Demonic Growth leading down into it.
Take a Shadow Current up to the second floor, then ignite an Inert Bomb by passing our Crossblade through some flames to gain access to the third floor. Now destroy an Ice Crystal using the Tremor Gauntlet to reveal a Chest containing this Lifestone Shard.
Artifact #23 – Champion: Return back up to the roadway now & begin heading towards the entrance to the Broken Stair. When we enter the tunnel with two Shadow Currents we need to use to progress, drop down to the level below where the Shadow Currents are instead. Down here we can see an Ice Crystal cluster; destroy it with the Tremor Gauntlet to reveal this Artifact.
Lifestone Shard #12: Take the Serpent Hole to Drowned Pass & begin walking down the path away from Vulgrim. Across the water from us, we can spot the Chest containing this Lifestone Shard; use the Blue Chain Point in between us & it to reach it.
Lifestone #7: Collecting our 12th Lifestone Shard will unlock a full Lifestone for us.
Wrath Shard #15: Drop down into the water now & swim all the way up to the Northmost end. Dive into the water here & swim in through an underwater cave to the West. Follow the path up & destroy an Ice Crystal cluster blocking our way to find a Chest containing this Wrath Shard.
Wrath Shard #16: Now let’s take the Serpent Hole to Anvil’s Ford. As we progress to the end of it, we will see two Red Chain Points & a Blue Chain Point off our left floating in mid air. Use the Abyssal Chain to get across them, & we can find a Chest containing this Wrath Shard.
Wrath Core #7: We will acquire our next Wrath Core when we collect our 16th Wrath Shard.
Wrath Shard #17: In Anvil’s Ford now, navigate your way to the far Northwestern end of the area where all the waterfalls are. At the West end of here, we can see an isolated piece of land with a Blue Chain Point we can use to reach it; there will be a Chest with this Wrath Shard in it here.
Achievement #27 – Treasure Hunter: Search 150 Chests.
Chests are not missable (can always be gone back to to be collected), & there are more than 150 Chests throughout the game. Always be on the lookout for them, & even if you do not need the Health or Wrath, be sure to open the Chests anyways.
All Chests count towards the Achievement as well including the Chests for Shards, Abyssal Armor Pieces, Consumables, Enhancements, etc.
When we go to backtrack through each of the areas again to collect our final Collectibles, be sure to really take a stab at searching for Chests in them as well… There are many Chests in the final Black Throne area as well to collect.
Sequence 9: …Hell Hates You
2. Lifestone Shards: 13/16
3. Lifestones: 7/9
4. Wrath Shards: 18/20
5. Wrath Cores: 7/8
6. Abyssal Armor: 9/10
7. Artifacts: 25/27
8. Achievements: 27/43
—————————————————————————————————–
Return Silitha’s Heart to Samael: Go to Samael & deliver him the final Chosen Heart. Once we do, we will gain access to a unique Serpent Hole that will take us to The Black Throne.
Free Azrael: A few rooms into The Black Throne, we will encounter none other then Azrael, the Angel of Death. To reach the final Chosen, we need to find a way to release Azrael from his prison.
Achievement #27 – Into the Void: Collect the Voidwalker.
Story Related. To free Azrael, we need to travel to three different towers to disable the prison locks. When we reach the first tower, we will have to fight off some waves of Dark Angels & some Wraiths. Once they are all defeated, we can obtain our next piece of Equipment, the Voidwalker.
Disable the First Tower: Using the Voidwalker, get to the top of the First Tower using Charged Portals to launch us to upper levels. At the top, we will have to defeat a Tower Guardian to release the Souls to disable one of the prison locks. The Tower Guardian is simple to defeat, but its attacks are devastating & can two shot us even with all our Lifestones…
Guide the Souls back over to Azrael’s prison & disable the first lock.
Wrath Shard #18: Navigate to the upper level of Azrael’s prison to reach the path to the Second Tower. After we take the elevator up, we will enter a large square room with floor that falls away as it circles the room. Get to the far side of the room using the Voidwalker Nodes but do not enter the next room yet.
Instead, look over to the West end of the room to see an alcove we could not see before with a Void Node in it. Place a Portal on it, & pass through to reach a Chest with this Wrath Shard in it.
Beholder’s Key: When we enter the Second Tower, we can find a Beholder’s Key in a Chest at the very bottom, in the center of the room.
Lifestone Shard #13: Use the Beholder’s Key to progress after weighing down the scales so we can use them to get to the top. Take a Shadow Current higher up until we walk up a small set of stairs to a Void Node in the floor. Place a Portal down on it, then turn around & walk back down those stairs. About halfway down them, look up ahead of us to see a hidden room with another Void Node on it; place a Portal on it as well.
Drop through your Portal & we can climb up to a ledge that has a Chest with this Lifestone Shard in it.
Disable the Second Tower: Get to the top of the Second Tower now & we will need to defeat another Tower Guardian. This will play out identically as the first, however we first need the Tower Guardian to use his overhead smash attack where his flail gets stuck to open up the Void Nodes for us to use. You can even double up your Portals on the same Node if that makes it easier.
Once the Tower Guardian is destroyed, guide the Souls back through the area to Azrael’s prison to disable the second lock.
Artifact #24 – Soldier: To access the Third Tower we first need to get the Beholder’s Key, get up to the highest point of the first spinning ring in the center of the prison (how we got to the Second Tower). From here, wait until we rotate to the Southwest corner & we can see an indent in the walls with a passage we can carefully reach with Shadowflight. Now use the two Void Nodes to boost yourself up higher with a Charged Portal which will dump us right in front of the doorway we need to progress.
Pass through the doorway into the first room, & we can see a Void Node on the wall to our left with another on the ceiling in the right corner of the room. Place a Portal on each, pass through the Portal on the wall, & quickly use Shadowflight to reach a ledge we could not reach before to find an Artifact.
Abyssal Armor Piece #9: Take a large spiral staircase down to the bottom floor & we can see a Bomb Growth. To carry on, we need to get across to the far side using a Void Node attached to a rotating Obelisk. Over here, we can now see a Bomb hanging over an abyss on a pillar; to the West of the Obelisk as it rotates, there will be another Bomb Growth. To destroy it, keep a Portal on the rotating Obelisk, & place another on the Void Node in the same room as us. Get your timing right, & grab the Bomb with your Abyssal Chain & throw it into the Bomb Growth as the Obelisk spins to destroy it.
Use the Portals to reach it (we will see another Void Node looking through the Portal) & we can find a Chest with this Abyssal Armor Piece in it.
Beholder’s Key: To carry on, we need to blow up the Bomb Growth below the spiral stairs we came down. Return back over to it, & place a Portal down on the Void Node near it. Now we need to get over to far side where the Bomb is (keeping our first Portal) & place a second one here so we can seamlessly bring a Bomb through.
Once the Bomb Growth is destroyed, a large column with a Void Node on its top will raise up. Place a Charged Portal on it & we can use it to boost us up to the Chest containing the Beholder’s Key.
Artifact #25 – Soldier: Navigate back to the top of the prison where we entered the side area, & continue up to the top of the second rotating ring to reach the blocked off door to the Third Tower. Get across the way & defeat the waves of enemies outside, before we enter the tower itself.
Once inside, head over to the Northwest corner of the room to see a pit filled with water below a Void Node. Dive down into the water to collect this Artifact; this is our final Soldier Artifact!
Sequence 10: Serve In Heaven
2. Lifestone Shards: 14/16
3. Lifestones: 8/9
4. Wrath Shards: 19/20
5. Wrath Cores: 7/8
6. Abyssal Armor: 10/10
7. Artifacts: 26/27
8. Armageddon Blade Shards: 3/7
9. Achievements: 30/43
—————————————————————————————————–
Disable the Third Tower: Complete the simple puzzle in the tower & get up to where the final Tower Guardian is. For this one, same rules apply, except the Void Nodes are now on the walls – this is actually easier to manage than having to break them open.
Artifact #26 – Champion: Guide the Souls back through the Third Tower & across the gap. When we enter the room where we had to fight a bunch of Undead & a Rot Mauler, an Obelisk will come down from the ceiling; our Artifact is way up above it.
To get to it, use the Shadow Current to get over to a ledge at the South end of the room & use the Void Nodes here to boost ourselves higher up. Up here, we can now see a new Void Node on top of the Obelisk we can place a Charged Portal on. Pass through it to be boosted into the Artifact.
Achievement #28 – Payback’s A B****: Defeat Straga.
Story Related. Free Azrael from his prison & he will open the path to Straga for us. The premise to fight Straga is actually really simple: place a Portal on the ground & a Portal on the Void Node attached to his hammer. When he raises his hammer behind his head, jump through the Portal to land on his back to make him vulnerable to our attacks. Rinse & repeat.
Every time we damage him, he will summon enemies to fight us which only serves to prolong the fight & whittle us down. When fighting the summons, try staying in the very far left corner of the boss room so when Straga raises his fist to slam down, it can be avoided extremely easily.
Lifestone #8: We will receive a full Lifestone after we defeat Straga.
Achievement #29 – Sight Beyond Sight: Collect the Mask of Shadows.
Story Related. When we enter Eden, we will be unable to progress. To do so, Azrael will gift us the Mask of Shadows, & we will unlock the Achievement.
There are a lot of hidden Chests in Eden & across the world that we can now discover using the Mask of Shadows…
Abyssal Armor Piece #10: Defeat the shadow within you, & we can now cross over the bridge using the Shadow Mask. Before we take the stairs up, walk into the water to the East & make your way over to the far Northeastern end. Here we can pass through one of the waterfalls into a cave; put on the Shadow Mask & we can open a Chest containing the final Abyssal Armor Piece.
Achievement #30 – Legendary Form: Collect the 10 pieces of the Abyssal Armor set.
If you have been following along with the guide, we will unlock this Achievement after obtaining the full piece to the Abyssal Armor set. This will increase our invisible defence meter & reduce the amount of damage we sustain… we will also look ten times cooler! Unfortunately… it does not appear during cutscenes.
Wrath Shard #19: Now start heading up the stairs towards the Tree of Knowledge. At the top of the first set of stairs, we will reach a circular landing with a small waterfall off our left. Jump down towards it, & we can walk underneath the stairs ahead to find a Chest with this Wrath Shard inside it.
After we obtain the hilt of the Armageddon Blade, we can leave Eden behind…
Armageddon Blade Shard #1: To reforge the Armageddon Blade, we will need to locate the 7 pieces of it scattered across the realm. Azrael will bring us to the very first one in the Ashlands.
Lifestone Shard #14: Make your way across the Stygian’s boss room over to where Vulgrim is. Turn in our collected Artifacts, & if you have found all Soldier Artifacts, we will be rewarded with this Lifestone Shard!
Armageddon Blade Shard #2: Take the Serpent Hole to the beginning area of the Ashlands. Exit the tunnel into the main desert, & head to the marked Armageddon Blade Shard marker on our Local Map.
Leap off of Ruin to reach the ledge here & make your way over to a Bomb Growth blocking our way. To destroy it, head down the path below the Bomb Growth & put on the Mask of Shadows to discover some Inert Bombs attached to the wall. Use the Abyssal Chain to pull some down & attach one to the Bomb Growth. Then guide our Crossblade through a nearby torch to detonate it. Return back up the path & use the Mask of Shadows again to reveal a Red Chain Point; get across the gap & we be able to reach the Shard.
Armageddon Blade Shard #3: Take the Serpent Hole to the Dry Road now & check your Local Map for the location of the next Armageddon Blade Shard. As you approach it however, we will have an unexpected visitor we will need to deal with…
After they are defeated, we are free to walk over & collect the Shard.
Sequence 11: Rule In Hell
2. Lifestone Shards: 16/16
3. Lifestones: 9/9
4. Wrath Shards: 20/20
5. Wrath Cores: 8/8
6. Artifacts: 27/27
7. Armageddon Blade Shards: 7/7
8. Achievements: 33/43
—————————————————————————————————–
Armageddon Blade Shard #4: Next up, take the Serpent Hole to Drowned Pass & check your Local Map for the location of the Armageddon Blade Shard. Drop down into the water below us & swim over to the Southmost of the submerged buildings. Climb to its top & put on the Mask of Shadows to reveal a Red Anchor Point. Use it to reach the Shard.
Artifact #27 – Champion: Instead of using the Serpent Hole to leave, make your way out of Drowned Pass on foot towards the Scalding Gallow. Shortly, we will enter the room with the large rotating fan. Before we do anything, take the fan around to the East side of the room & enter the long tunnel with the grated flooring over some water. At the far end of the tunnel, we can see a Void Node attached to the ceiling beyond a ruined wall; make sure you place a Portal on it!
Now return to the fan & ride it around to the Southeast corner where we can see an open section in the wall below us. Equip the Abyssal Chain, & use Shadowflight a little ways to enter in through the gap; when we enter, we can immediately grapple over to a Red Chain Point above us.
This will take us over to a Shadow Current we can use to get up to a higher level. Up here, we will see a Void Node on the ceiling; be sure to place a Portal on it! Walk around the corner from the Void Node & we can collect our final Champion Artifact!
Achievement #31 – World Raider: Collect all 27 Artifacts.
If you have been following along with this guide, we will unlock this Achievement after collecting our final Artifact.
Wrath Shard #20: Ideally, you placed a Portal on the Void Node back in the tunnel; if you didn’t, you will have to go back & do that. If/once the Portal is placed, turn around from where we collected the Artifact & place a second Portal on the Void Node on the ceiling above us. Drop down & re-enter the Shadow Current behind us to get launched up in through the Portal & out the other side. Here, we can find this Chest with the final Wrath Shard inside it.
Wrath Core #8: We will receive our final Wrath Core after collecting the 20th Wrath Shard.
Achievement #32 – Wrath of War: Collect all 8 Wrath Cores.
If you have been following along with this guide, we will unlock this Achievement after we collect the 8th Wrath Core for a total of 10; we start the game with 2 already.
The one Vulgrim has for sale is the “hardest” to obtain as it will require a total of 10,000 Souls to purchase. If you still need, we will be accruing quite a lot of Souls for maxing out our Weapons…
Though there are no Armageddon Blade Shards here, our final Collectible is… Take the Serpent Hole to Twilight Cathedral.
Lifestone Shard #15: While travelling through the Serpent Hole, navigate over to where the exit is to Twilight Cathedral, but do not enter it. Instead, put on the Mask of Shadows & it will reveal a Shadow Current South of our position floating over the abyss. Shadowflight over to it & it will launch us over to a new section. Follow the moving flooring along up some stairs & use the Mask of Shadows again to reveal another Shadow Current. Take this one across a gap to reach a Chest containing this Lifestone Shard.
Lifestone Shard #16: If you collected all of the Champion Artifacts, turn the last one in to Vulgrim to be rewarded with this Lifestone Shard; this could have been done prior to entering the Serpent Hole to Twilight Cathedral…
Achievement #33 – Full Power: Collect all 9 Lifestones.
If you have been following along with the guide, we will unlock this Achievement after obtaining our final Lifestone. There are 10 Lifestones in total, but we start the game with one in our possession.
Armageddon Blade Shard #5: Take the Serpent Hole to the Crossroads & eliminate the enemies in the area around Vulgrim. Once they are dealt with, put on the Mask of Shadows & it will reveal two Shadow Currents that will launch us up at a Blue Chain Point. Swing across it over to where another Shadow Current we can uncover using the Mask, & it will launch us up to where the next Armageddon Blade Shard is.
Armageddon Blade Shard #6: Now take the Serpent Hole over to the Choking Grounds & consult your Local Map on where to find the next Armageddon Blade Shard. Head over to that hole in the wall close to where the Ancient Gate was & make your way up two floors using a Shadow Current & the Demonic Growth. On the third floor, walk up some broken concrete & look directly up to see some Demonic Growth through a hole in the ceiling.
Grapple up to the Demonic Growth using the Abyssal Chain & use the Mask of Shadow on the next floor to reveal a Shadow Current that will take us to the Shard.
Armageddon Blade Shard #7: Our final Armageddon Blade Shard is located at the Broken Stair. From Vulgrim, make your way all the way through the area, all the way to where we captured the Angelic Beast. We can find the Shard on top of the roof where that subsequent cutscene took place.
Approaching Point of No Return!: Now that we have all of the pieces, are next Task will be to take them to Ulthane so he can reforge the Armaggedon Blade. Do not do this! Before we do that, we want to find all remaining Collectibles & mop up all our remaining non-Story Related Achievements first.
Sequence 12: Anti-Life Savior
2. Achievements: 36/43
—————————————————————————————————–
Achievement #34 – Horseman: Kill 150 Demons from horseback.
If you have not unlocked this Achievement yet, the most efficient place to farm it is at the Crossroads. Between all of the Dark Angels, Phantom Guards, & Wicked we can get well over 15 kills per run of the area in front of Vulgrim here. When all the enemies are dead, enter into the library & exit out into Scolding Gallow. You can either ride around & kill the enemies here too, or for top efficiency, just turn around & re-enter the library to exit back into the Crossroads to respawn the enemies here. Rinse & repeat.
Achievement #35 – Dark Rider: Ride for 100 miles.
This is a tedious Achievement to unlock. Don’t ask me what the progress tracker in Steam records its units in… if it is supposed to be feet, they’ve added an extra 0 at the end. So ideally it should be 100 miles or 528,000 feet… but if it is going by the actual Steam tracker set at 5,280,000 feet then we actually need to log 1000 miles.
In the first area of the Ashlands, head over to the Soul Bridge at the far West end. Ride onto the Soul Bridge, & hold down your movement stick backwards (or the S Key on Keyboard). When you exit the Soul Bridge, you will spin around & ride back onto it & create a loop. This is our idle method & I recommend putting an elastic around your stick (or weighing down the S Key).
Even if you made good progress towards the Achievement, this will still take quite a while to unlock, potentially even an hour or two so be prepared for that. I had completed around 1/5 of the miles before farming & the process took me around 2 hours still… Remember, if you are using a wireless controller to check on it, as it may turn off!
Our final mop up Achievements will take place in Iron Canopy; just continue riding onwards West from the Soul Bridge to reach it.
Achievement #36 – Improvised Kills: Kill 150 enemies with items from the environment.
There are many different objects we can throw at enemies for it to count as an “environmental kill”. The problem with them, is that they do not always respawn unless you Save/Reload your game. Fortunately for us, killing with enemies with Bombs counts as “environmental kills”. Not through explosions though, but by the impact of the Bomb being thrown into them; you can pick up a Bomb & use it as a melee Weapon for kills as well which is much faster!
For the best location, leave Silitha’s boss room, & navigate through the large webbed door to the exterior area of Iron Canopy. From outside the large webbed door, take the path to our left (South) & begin backtracking through the rooms until you reach the one that has the Moveable Crate with a Bomb on top of it. This is our room.
Proceed to transport the Moveable Crate down to the very bottom floor, where all the Broodlings are. Now grab a Bomb, & swing it into the Broodlings before it explodes. Keep grabbing more Bombs until all the spiders are dead. To respawn them, exit the room on the bottom floor & head left into the next room down some stairs. At the bottom of the stiars, turn around & head back to the Bomb room & all the Broodlings will have respawned. Rinse & repeat.
Maxing Out the Scythe & Tremor Gauntlet: This is the first part of the Battle Hardened Achievement & most tedious part of the game. An important thing to note for this, is we only need to get the Scythe & Tremor Gauntlet to Level 4; when we reforge the Armageddon Blade, it will replace Chaoseater & come already at Level 4. Make sure you have the War’s Glory Legendary Enhancement equipped to whichever Weapon you are currently grinding to speed things along!
Weapon Xp is given per hit, not per kill. So long as you are striking enemies with the Weapon, it will be generating Xp. As far as I am aware, the “quality” of the enemy does not matter either, & stronger enemies do not give more Xp (more Souls certainly). What does allegedly play a bigger factor in Xp is your Combat Multiplier, try to raise it as high as you can & keep the same one going per encounter if you can; alert all the Broodlings in the room to bunch them all up instead of fighting each group individually. Levels 1-3 will go by very quickly, but getting to Level 4 will take a bit longer.
For our farming location, start heading back towards Silitha’s boss room. Climb up the Demonic Growths & leave the Bomb room & pass through the next room. Here will be a large square room with quite a few Broodlings in it; this is the farming room. Respawning them is even faster then the Bomb room; run to the East end, climb up the Demonic Growth, & run outside. Then we can turn around & drop back into the room & all the Broodlings will be back… & this is our reality for more than a few hours.
For the Scythe, I found just repeating Return Slash (Y, Y) over & over the easiest to build up a reliable Combo. Do not spam it as Reaper Claw (Y, Y, Y) will instantly lose your Combo. Y + Y, then a brief pause, Y + Y, & a brief pause. You can kill them all pretty reliably all in the same Combo.
Though you may dread it, the Tremor Gauntlet is actually faster to Level than the Scythe. All you have to do is Earthbreaker (RB + Y) when all the Broodlings are bunched up & you will hit a Combo of 50-80 every time which speed Levels the Gauntlet.
Buying All Combat Moves: Once we have both the Scythe & Tremor Gauntlet at Level 4, it is now time to purchase the remaining Combat Moves. We should have accumulated an extra 10,000-18,000 Souls depending on how much farming you had to do.
Chaoseater has 9 Combat Moves to be taken to Level 3, costing a total of 18,900 Souls. The Scythe has 6 Combat Moves (including the Harvester Upgrade) that costs a total of 15, 400 Souls. Lastly the Tremor Gauntlet only has 5 Combat Moves for a total of 10,600 Souls. The grand total of Souls we need is 44,900 Souls.
If you still need more Souls, go back to where we were farming the Broodlings & kill them with the Scythe/Harvester with the Reaper Enhancement equipped to it.
With all the Combat Moves purchased, you are free to spend your Souls on anything you like.
Sequence 13: Restoring the Balance

Achievement #37 – Ultimate Blade: Forge the Armageddon Blade.

Achievement #38 – Battle Hardened: Max out all 3 Weapons & unlock all Combat Moves.
If you fully leveled the Scythe & Tremor Gauntlets to Level 4 as well as purchased all of the Combat Moves Vulgrim has to sell, we will unlock this Achievement after obtaining the Level 4 Armageddon Blade.
If you got Chaoseater to Level 4 already, you will have unlocked this Achievement last Sequence after purchasing all the Combat Moves…
Return to Azrael In the Ashlands: Now it is time to end this. Return to Azrael at the furthest corner, North of the Stygian’s boss room, & prepare to destroy the Destroyer…
There is no Post Game after we defeat the Destroyer. Just in case you have unfinished business, or want to keep playing after we beat the game, make sure make a Save before we speak with Azrael!
Achievement #39 – The Final Challenger?: Defeat The Destroyer.
Story Related. When the fight begins, mount Ruin & chase after the Destroyer as he rips around the boss room. Strike him as he runs to knock him over where you can get a bunch of free hits in… phase one is super easy.
The Destroyer will transform during phase two & we will have a more conventional final boss fight; more of what you would expect for this kind of game. With the Abyssal Armor & the Armageddon Blade though, even on Apocalypse Difficulty, the Destroyer is not difficult at all.
Achievement #40 – You Call This Easy?: Complete the game on Easy Difficulty.
Story Related. Defeat the Destroyer & watch the final cutscene to unlock this Achievement.
Achievement #41 – Balance Restored: Complete the game on Normal Difficulty.
Story Related. If you were playing on Normal Difficulty or higher, we will unlock this Achievement for defeating the Destroyer.
Achievement #42 – The True Horseman: Complete the game on Apocalyptic Difficulty.
Story Related. If you were playing the game from start to finish on Apocalyptic Difficulty, we will unlock this Achievement along with the other Difficulty related Achievements after we defeat the Destroyer.
Achievement #43 – BFA: Unlocked all 43 Achievements!
Story Related. If you have been following along with the guide, we will unlock this final Achievement after beating the game & defeating the Destroyer.
All Achievements except for the three Missable Achievements can be earned in “Post Game” by reloading your previous Save before defeating the Destroyer. If you are missing one of the three, you will need to start a brand New Game to unlock them…
