Missable Achievements: TBD. Possibly none, due to chapter select.
IMPORTANT
- This guide is ~95% done. I need to verify the following bullet points, as well as proof-read.
- At the moment, Blood Lines seems to be bugged, but I’ve gotten in contact with the devs about it, so we’ll see what’s up.
- I’m unsure if I’ve picked up every item/note. I did a run where I dropped everything in a single room before scouring the mansion. I saw nothing left, so I’m curious if those 2 achievements are also bugged, or if I’m somehow missing something. If anyone knows any that I don’t have listed, please tell me!
- I’ve tried grabbing every item and note I know of in a single run. No luck.
- My current count is 98 items, 33 documents.

Stare at the possessed mannequin for more than 30 seconds
After starting the Dancing Shadows chapter, exit the pagoda room to trigger a looping hallway sequence. Once you find yourself in a red-lit room, open any door to a hallway filled with mannequins. One of them will only move when you’re not looking at it; this is the cursed one. Simply stare at it until the achievement pops.
Complete Dancing Shadows
Story related. This will unlock for completing the chapter. Note that this achievement is slightly bugged. You cannot earn this and “Master Solver” on the same attempt. In order to earn this, you need to be caught by the Mannequin at least once.
Complete Dancing Shadows without lighting up a wrong candle
In order to light the candles in the correct order, you need to pay attention to what pose the cursed mannequin is in. This pose is the exact same as the candle you need to light. Every time you light a candle, she will change poses. Refer to the map in the Puzzle Solutions or chapter specific section if you need help.
Achievements II
Read the Inugami Ritual volume
After defeating the mannequin in the Dancing Shadows chapter, you will eventually open a door with a glowing mirror hanging on the wall behind it. Unlock the door to your left, go down the hall and enter the first room on your right. The note will be on the small shrine across the room. Pick it up and read it.
Complete Realm of Echoes
Story related. This will unlock for completing the chapter.
Complete Realm of Echoes without stepping out of the blood path once
This achievement is either bugged and impossible to earn at the moment, or what the game considers stepping off of the blood trail is the most sensitive thing in existence. I’ve tried multiple times and multiple strategies to get this to unlock with no luck. The base idea is you need to cleanse all 5 glowing red trees without ever stepping into the tall grass. If anyone can get this to work, please let me know what you did.
Complete Eternal Seasons
Story related. This will unlock for completing the chapter.
Seal a door for the first time
See “Paranoid” below.
Seal 20 doors in a single playthrough
As soon as the Visage of Patrons chapter starts, you’ll get a tool tip on how to seal doors. Simply walk up to one, enter your spirit vision mode, and hold right click. This is the earliest you can start working towards them, and when you seal 20 is entirely up to how often you do it. It’s entirely possible to do all 20 during this chapter by revisiting previous areas and sealing doors. All 20 don’t have to be done in a single run, either. You can exit to the main menu, reload other chapters, etc. and still make progress towards the count.
Outrun the Geisha for the first time
You simply need to enter chase with the Geisha and escape. The easiest way to do this is to seal a door and have her walk into it. She’ll say something about you not being able to escape and then despawn.
Attract Geisha’s attention using Scry Sight for 20 times
There is a good chance you will earn this naturally if you use your spirit vision a lot, like I do. Whenever the Geisha spawns, simply hold E to enter your spirit vision mode and give her a lead on your location. Do this 20 times.
Complete Visage of the Patrons
Story related. This will unlock for completing the chapter.
Complete Corrupted Effigies
Story related. This will unlock for completing the chapter.
Achievements III
Complete Corrupted Effigies without sealing a single door
You need to complete the entire Corrupted Effigies chapter, from start to finish, without ever sealing a door. This really isn’t that difficult once you know what you’re doing. For that reason, I highly recommend using seals your first time through so you can learn and grab any items/documents you need. Then, go back on chapter select and just speedrun this section.
Return the Daikokuten’s Hammer to its original place
Story related. This will unlock near the end of the Guiding Waters chapter when you plug the Hammer into the statue.
Stare at Asuke’s body for more than 20 seconds
In the cave section of Guiding Waters, you can find Asuke’s body pinned to a wall. You have to walk by him to progress, so it’s extremely hard to miss him. Simply stare at his body until the achievement unlocks.
Complete Guiding Waters
Story related. This will unlock for completing the chapter.
Read the Ritual of Eternal Torment
At the start of the Eight Elements chapter, you will climb a staircase after using the Magic Orb to blow up some debris. You’ll receive a cutscene as soon as you emerge into a bedroom. As soon as the scene ends, search the shelves to your left to find the note, then read it.
Complete Eight Elements
Story related. This will unlock for completing the chapter.
Complete Constellation of the Gods
Story related. This will unlock for completing the chapter.
Complete the story
Story related. This will unlock for completing the game.

Document (2/2) – Letter from Kuroki to Hayashi
You’ll receive this for inspecting the Ruined Book.
Item (2/5) – Box
This item only spawns after reading the previous note. Once you do, turn away from the gazebo, back towards the direction you came from, and look inside the stone lantern on your left.
Item (3/5) – Worn Key

Cleanse a cursed door for the first time
Story related. After heading back from the small cemetery, approach the large doors where Asuke was last seen. Follow the on-screen tutorial prompts to cleanse the door.
Enter the mansion
Story related. After cleansing the doors, head through and follow the short path.
Walkthrough – Familial Emblem
As soon as the chapter starts, open the sliding door immediately in front of you and look to the left.
Document (1/2) – Note From Shojiro
From the previous collectible, turn around and look on the table a few feet away.
Document (2/2) – Shojiro’s Diary
Exit the room back into the hallway and go left. At the end of the hall will be an open and illuminated room. The Document is on the table next to the lit candle.
Item (2/2) – Hon’iden’s Family Crest
Head back to the table where you grabbed Note From Shojiro and look next to it to spot a locked box. Use the Child’s Homework and Shojiro’s Diary to work out the solution. If you’re stuck, the answer is 二 四 一 八 (2418).
Complete Familial Emblem
Story related. This will unlock for opening the locked box and grabbing the item inside.
Walkthrough – Matrimony Tokens
After solving the previous puzzle and grabbing the item, continue past the table to find a new door has opened. Go through and go down the left side of the hall. Open the first door you come across on your right to enter a large room with a replica Pagoda inside. The note is in front of it.
Document (2/8) – Torn List of Names
Enter the door behind the pagoda to find this Document on the floor.
Item (1-2/20) – Ornate Zodiac Compass + Ring With 8 Directions
Enter the door to the right of the pagoda to find yourself in a small supply closet of sorts. On the bookshelf to the left will be the compass, and on a knocked over shelf across from the door will be the ring.
Item (3/20) – Joy Mask
Enter the door to the left of the pagoda. To your left will be 2 barricaded doors you can open for a shortcut back to the starting area, but we’re more interested in the staircase on the right. Climb up to the 2nd floor and go to the door located behind the stairs. Turn right, then cleanse the first door on your right. Enter to find the mask.
Item (4-5/20) – Rage Mask + Sorrow Mask
Cleanse the door to the left of the mask and enter the hallway. Look immediately to your right to spot a wooden door. This door is locked, but there’s another one to its right that we can cleanse. On the table as you enter will be both masks.
Document (3/8) – Letter From the Matsudaira Clan
In the same room as the last 2 items. On the floor in front of the bookshelf.
Document (4/8) – Journal of a Geisha
Go back to the front of the hall and crouch under the wooden beam to the right side of it. Turn the corner and open the first door on your left to find a room with a bunch of hanging clothes. The note in a dresser inside.
Item (6/20) – Intricate Writing Box 1
In the same room as the previous Document. Inside a dresser on the opposite side of the room.
Document (5/8) – Journal of a Servant (1)
Go back out into the hall and continue to the end of it. Open the door in front of you, then crouch between the 2 collapsed bookshelves. The note will be on the floor to your right as soon as you squeeze through.
Item (7/20) – Intricate Writing Box 2
Across the room from the previous note is an opening in the wall that leads to a small hallway between rooms. As soon as you pass through the hanging sheet, you will spot the box in front of you. You can also release the barricade on the door to this room.
Item (8/20) – Ofuda
Hanging on the wall just past the doorway with the collapsed bookshelves.
Item (9-15/20) Gloves, Hand Mirror, Sensu 1, Sensu 2, Sensu 3, Box 1, Cosmetic Box
Enter the door on your left, just past the Ofuda to find a large room with a ton of items. You will likely have to do some inventory management here in order to pick up and look at everything.
Document (6-7/8) – Poem to my Love + Wedding Gifts
Inside the same room as the previous items.
Item (16/20) Hair Pin
Inside the Box. Interact with it and open it.
Item (17-18/20) – Box 2, Intricate Writing Box 3
Before we can solve this next puzzle, we still have a few items to grab. Enter the room across the hall to find these 2 items within.
Document (8/8) – Note From Yota
In the same room as the previous 2 items.
Item (19/20) – Hair Pin 2
Inside the box. Interact with it and open it.
Item (20/20) – Ring With 12 Zodiacs
Head back to the puzzle room with all of your items spread about. Use the Poem to my Love to figure out the solution and unlock the drawer. If you’re struggling, the answer is From left to right: Koy Fish Sensu, Red and gold Hair Pin, Intricate Writing Box with 2 cats on it, Joy Mask. You can look in the Puzzle Solutions section for an image of the solution.
Complete Matrimony Tokens
Story related. This will unlock as soon as you solve the puzzle.
Walkthrough – Creeping Malice
After solving the previous puzzle, you’ll be locked on the 2nd floor with the Geisha and will have to find a series of items. The first one can be found in the room across from the puzzle room (where you grabbed the Note From Yota). It will be on a table to the far left of the room.
Item (2/3) – Gong
This can be found in the room with all the hanging clothes.
Item (3/3) – Rope
This is found in the room that was connected to the Servant’s Room (where you picked up one of the Intricate Writing Boxes and unbarricaded a door).
Complete Creeping Malice
Story related. Once you have all 3 items, head back to the room where you grabbed the Mallet from. Interact with the gong frame at the back of the room and ring it to end the chapter.
Walkthrough – Sacred Zodiacs
Hit the gong for 10 times in a row
After ringing the gong and starting the next chapter, simply ring it 9 more times. Easy!
Complete Sacred Zodiacs
Head back down to the Pagoda room and insert both rings into the wall socket behind it. In order to figure out the orientation, you need to use your spirit vision to view paintings scattered around the building. Each one will have 2 animals and a corresponding symbol. This will be how you solve the inner ring. For the outer ring and the pagoda itself, you will need to use the compass. This puzzle can be a little confusing at first. I highly recommend referencing the images in the Puzzle Solutions section if you need help. Once you’ve solved the pagoda, the achievement will unlock.
Walkthrough – Dancing Shadows
Stare at the possessed mannequin for more than 30 seconds
After starting the chapter, exit the pagoda room to trigger a looping hallway sequence. Once you find yourself in a red-lit room, open any door to a hallway filled with mannequins. One of them will only move when you’re not looking at it; this is the cursed one. Simply stare at it until the achievement pops.
Item (1/2) – Buddha Statuette 1
Located in the area the mannequin follows you around. It’s very hard to describe exactly where, so refer to the map below. You can also grab this easily in the next chapter.
Item (2/2) – Calabash
Located in the area the mannequin follows you around. It’s very hard to describe exactly where, so refer to the map below. This item is VERY easy to miss, but You can also grab this in the next chapter.
Document (1/1) – Journal of a Servant (2)
Located in the area the mannequin follows you around. It’s very hard to describe exactly where, so refer to the map below. You can also grab this easily in the next chapter.
Complete Dancing Shadows
Story related, but semi-bugged. In order to earn this achievement, you have to complete Dancing Shadows after getting at least one candle wrong. You can’t get this and Master Solver in the same attempt for whatever reason. Refer to the map below for help.
Complete Dancing Shadows without lighting up a wrong candle
In order to light the candles in the correct order, you need to pay attention to what pose the cursed mannequin is in. This pose is the exact same as the candle you need to light. Every time you light a candle, she will change poses. Refer to the map below if you need help.
- Green dots = candles required for the puzzle.
- Red dots = incorrect candles.
- Yellow dots = item/document locations.
Walkthrough – Realm of Echoes
These can only be collected after defeating the possessed mannequin. They’re found in the room a disembodied voice is coming from. Refer to the map below if you need help.
Item (3/9) – Ordinary Bronze Key
Open the Box and grab it from inside. This item can’t be inspected.
Item (4/9) – Buddha Statuette 2
Go through the double doors to leave the mannequin area and head left down the hall. Keeping an eye on your right, you should spot a hole in the wall you can crouch through. Instead of doing that, enter the room across the way to find another statuette sitting on a table. Using your spirit vision can help you find the room I’m talking about.
Document (1/3) – Torn Page From Orin’s Journal
In the same room as the previous item. On the floor near the window.
Item (5/9) – Bamboo Basket
Directly next to the previous Document.
Item (6-7/9) – Fancy Chopsticks Set + Furoshiki Wrapped Box
In the same room as the previous items. Go to the far side where the crates of fish are. The chopsticks are on the table, and the box is on the shelf.
Document (2/3) – Mirror Room Renovation Notice
Exit back out into the hallway and go to the far end. When you open the door, there should be a glowing mirror hanging on the wall. Unlock the door to your left, go down the hall and enter the first room on your right. The note will be in a basket to your right, next to a candle you can light.
Item (8-9/9) – Incense Burner + Buddha Statuette 3
In the same room as the previous Document, on top of the small shrine.
Document 3/3) – Inugami Ritual Codex
Directly next tot he previous items.
Read the Inugami Ritual volume
Read the note you just picked up.
Complete Realm of Echoes
Story related. After reading the previous note, locate the smashed and corrupted mirror in the same room. Cleanse it to be teleported into a strange dimension full of mirrors and glowing trees. The idea here is to cleanse all 5 trees in the area. Once you’ve cleansed the first tree, an invisible monster will spawn and start patrolling, but it will only attack you if you enter the tall grass. To get around the area, you need to use mirrors to warp around. Below is a map of the entire area. Once you’ve cleansed the 5th tree, the chapter will end.
I tried my best to make this clear and easy to understand, but I could only do so much with the program I used to make it. Hopefully it gets the job done.
- Green dots = Trees.
- Red line = Blood path.
- Blue tips = Mirror locations.
- Translucent pink lines = Mirror connections (what mirror each one teleports you to).
Walkthrough – Eternal Seasons
Return to the pagoda room and pick up all 3 Buddha Statuettes on the pedestals around the room. I HIGHLY recommend picking them up one at a time, inspecting them, then placing them right back where you found them. All 3 of these items are in their correct spots for an upcoming puzzle.
Item (4/20) – Wagasa
We now have a new area accessible to us and I’m going to do my best to guide you there. Facing the front of the pagoda (place the Zodiac Dial behind it) turn around and walk out the door towards the front hall. Hook a left and open the wooden door just past the 2 Zodiac paintings. If you look immediately to your right, you should spot a familiar hole in the wall that Asuke walked past near the start of the game. Instead of continuing straight (which is the direction we need to go), turn left and head down the hall until you see a large open room on your right. Go in this room and grab the parasol-like item off of the table.
Document (1/3) – Kotodama Book
On the same table as the Wagasa. I’ve had issues with this item despawning when progressing chapters, so make sure you grab it now!
Item (5/20) – Buddha Statuette 7
Continue running straight, past the curtains, and open the first door you come across on your right. Chiyo should say “what happened to this room?” when you enter. The statuette is in the corner.
Document (2/3) – Note Written in a Shaky Hand
Exit the room and go to the end of the hall to find a sealed door on your left. Cleanse it and go inside. You should immediately spot a fancy clock straight ahead. Look to your right to spot a small altar, and to it’s direct right, the note.
Item (6/20) – Shamisen
In a small cubby to the right of the previous document.
Item (7/20) – Box
On the left side of the small altar.
Item (8/20) – Clock Hand
Open up the Box and grab it from inside. You can plug this into the clock immediately to clear up some space.
Document (3/3) – Poem About Seasons
Facing the clock, enter the room to your left and look near the fallen lantern.
Item (9-10/20) – Yunomi + Chashaku
Facing the clock again, exit out into the courtyard behind it and follow the patio to the right. You should come across a sealed door. Cleanse it, enter the room, and head right to find these on the table inside.
Item (11/20) – Origami
On the direct opposite side of the same room as the previous item.
Item (12/20) – Buddha Statuette 8
Exit back out into the courtyard and continue following the patio right. You should spot a broken down doorway at the end. Head inside and go left through to another room. The statuette is inside under a hanging scroll.
Some of the following items like to bug out and disappear during this section, so make sure you go through exactly as I point out below to avoid issues.
Item (13/20) – Tokkuri
Return to the clock and interact with it. You should spot two golden pins on either the left or the right side of the clock face. Set the clock to the left pin now and it should be snowing in the courtyard. Go all the way to the far side of the courtyard and enter the broken doorway. Instead of going to the room where the Statuette was, immediately look right to spot this on the table. This item will change multiple times throughout this puzzle. Make sure you inspect it each and every time!
Item (14/20) – Tokkuri Filled With Snow
Go back out into the courtyard. Near the door where the clock is is a large snow pile. Interact with it and use the Tokkuri on it.
Item (15/20) – Tokkuri Filled With Melted Snow
Set the clock hand one symbol under the left pin and the courtyard should turn to springtime. If you don’t understand this, check the Puzzle Solutions section for photos. The snow will melt automatically from your inventory. It is extremely easy to miss this item by skipping it and turning the liquid straight into Sake. I’m not 100% sure what causes this, but I believe it’s having picked up the next item.
After you’ve inspected the Tokkuri Filled With Melted Snow interact with the small altar and place it anywhere on the table. Not doing so can cause the item to despawn in your inventory.
Item (16/20) – Sakura
Still in springtime, return to where you found the Yunomi to find this in a bowl on the same table.
Item (17/20) – Wilted Sakura
Set the clock two symbols under the right pin to go to summer and the Sakura will automatically change in your inventory. Inspect it, then immediately place it in the middle of the altar.
The Sakura can randomly despawn from your inventory when changing seasons. I’m not 100% sure what causes this, but following the steps I listed and using the altar to “store” these items, as we’re doing, has guaranteed I never had issues.
Item (18/20) – Tokkuri Filled With Sake
Pick the Tokkuri back up from the altar. Inspect it, then immediately place it on the right side of the altar.
Item (19/20) – Shouryo Uma
Still in summer, go back to the room you grabbed the Statuette from to find a cucumber on the table inside. Pick it up. Inspect it, then immediately place it on the far left side of the altar.
Item (20/20) – Toro Nagashi
Set the clock to the right pin to change the season to Autumn. Check to the left of the small altar to find this item. Inspect it, then immediately pick the Wilted Sakura back up and place this item in the middle of the altar.
Complete Eternal Seasons
If everything went well and the game didn’t bug out a cutscene should play to end the chapter.
Walkthrough – Visage of the Patrons
Seal a door for the first time
Seal 20 doors in a single playthrough
As soon as this chapter starts, you’ll get a tool tip on how to seal doors. Simply walk up to one, enter your spirit vision mode, and hold right click. I’m listing both of these now, since this is the earliest you can start working towards them, and when you seal 20 is entirely up to how often you do it.
This will unlock after solving the Buddha Statuette puzzle in the pagoda room. The idea is to match the symbols underneath each Buddha to their corresponding symbol on the Zodiac Dial as we’ve been doing throughout the game, then match the symbols on the pagoda to the statuettes. If you need help, refer to the Puzzle Solutions section.
Walkthrough – Corrupted Effigies
There is an achievement for completing this entire chapter without ever using a seal. I recommend using seals on your first playthrough to make item collecting easier, and so you can learn the psuedo-boss fight at the end of the chapter.
Item (1/10) – Ordinary Silver Key
Grab this from the front of the pagoda (the little flower medallion in the screenshot will be popped out). This item can’t be inspected.
Item (2/10) – Box
Go back to where we grabbed the parasol earlier and you should see Asuke walking down the the hall. Across the hall from the parasol room is a large gold statue. Keep this in mind while you’re here! Go down to where the apparition was and unlock the door. Go straight, turn the corner to your right and continue going straight. You’ll know you’re in the right area if you pass an illuminated staircase on your left. At the far end of this hall you should see Asuke gain. Go to where they were to find a hole in the wall on your left. Crouch under and grab the item off of the table.
Item (3/10) – Odd Key 1
Open the box and grab this from inside of it.
Document (1/2) – Note From Yamashita
Head all the way back down the hall in the direction you came from. At the end, just before you turn left, will be a wooden door you can unlock with the Silver Key. Go through and locate the document in the next room (my cursor is aimed at it in the screenshot below).
IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ
There are a few items in this next area. I HIGHLY recommend sealing the door from the room with the previous note to the room with the large statue. There is an achievement for completing this chapter without sealing a single door, but this will make setting this area up and collecting the items MUCH easier.
Around this next arena are 3 scrolls. Each one gives an item, but after you cleanse the first one, the Geisha will transform. She will relentlessly pursue you and will ignore/destroy seals. To make your life easier, go through the area and remove any and all barricades you can find and grab the few loose items BEFORE you cleanse any of the 3 scrolls in the area. I will be referring to the item locations as if you have every barricade removed.
Item (4/10) – Omamori
I’m going to do my best to explain this next area, as it’s one big row of circles. Starting from the room where we grabbed the previous document, face the giant statue in the next room. This will always be our starting point. You have 3 doors on your left, 3 on your right, and one behind the statue. Enter the bottom-left door and keep going straight until you reach the end . Behind the final door will be a large scroll you can cleanse. Don’t do this yet. Instead, look to your left to spot this on a small shelf.
Document (2/2) – Shojiro’s Journal Entry
Open the first top-right door and you should spot 2 doorways ahead of you. Open the right one. The document will be on a small table to your left.
Item (5/10) – Silver Inro
On a large shelf to the right of the previous document.
Item (6-7/10) – Inkstone + Brushes
Open the first bottom-left door. Go to the second room, then look on the table to the right to find these items. They’re right next to each other and can be a bit hard to see.
Item (8/10) – Statue’s Ear
Enter the bottom-left door and keep going straight until you reach the end . You should spot a large scroll you can cleanse. Do so to spawn the item on the gold-like chest below it.
Item (9/10) – Statue’s Mouth
Enter the door behind the statue and move one more room in. Cleanse the scroll, then grab this off of the pillow.
Item (10/10) – Statue’s Eyes
Enter the first middle-right room and you should spot 2 doors. Open the one and the left and go inside to find the final scroll.
Complete Corrupted Effigies
Story related. After grabbing all 3 parts of the statue, head back to the center of the room and plug the correct part into each one to trigger a beam of light to shoot out of it. You now need to rotate the statue to line up with 3 other statues at the furthest end of specific halls. They can be found down the top-right, middle-right, and middle-left paths.
Complete Corrupted Effigies without sealing a single door
You need to complete the entire chapter, from start to finish, without ever sealing a door. This really isn’t that difficult, once you know what you’re doing. For that reason, I highly recommend using seals your first time through so you can learn and grab any items/documents you need. Then, go back on chapter select and just speedrun this section.
Walkthrough – Guiding Waters
Grab this from the now open compartment in the large statue. This item can’t be inspected.
Document (1/7) – Piping System Proposal
Exit the area and you should spot our friendly apparition. Follow him back to the illuminated stairs and go up. Follow the narrow hall down until you find a room on your left you can go in. Once inside, look left to spot a hole in the wall you can crouch through. The document will be on the table on the other side.
Item (2/14) – Hon’iden Family Seal
Under the previous document.
Item (3/14) – Kendama
Go back into the hallway and head further left where you’ll find a split. Go right and move down until you find a door on your left that you can cleanse and enter. The Kendama is under the little bench as you enter.
Item (4-6/14) – Ichimatsu Doll, Teruterubozu & Daruma
Continue further down this hall and you should spot a board on your left you can crouch under. Don’t do that just yet. Instead, continue past the board and turn 2 more corners to spot a door on your right you can cleanse. All 3 items are inside this room.
Document (2/7) – Junko’s Will
Head back to where that beam was and crouch under it. On your right will be a wooden door you can unlock with the Gold Key. As soon as you enter the room, check the bookshelf to your left to find the note.
Document (3/7) – Letter From the Fujiwara Clan
On the bed in the same room as the previous document.
Item (7-9/14) – Golden Kushi, Box & Daikokuten’s Mallet
Scattered around the same room as the last 2 notes.
Item (10/14) – Odd Key 2
Open the box and grab this from inside of it.
Return the Daikokuten’s Hammer to its original place
Do you remember where that statue was that I told you to keep track of? Well, it’s time to head back to it. If you forgot, it’s just up the hallway where we collected the Parasol. Once there, interact with it and use the Mallet. This will unlock the door directly across from the statue.
Document (4/7) – Note About Hon’iden’s Agents
Enter the now opened door and head downstairs. Follow the hallway until you spot an open room on your right. Go in and look straight ahead to find the note on the shelf.
Document (5/7) – Letter About a Magical Orb
Approach Asuke and you’ll fall through the floor. Once you come to, walk forward and crouch under a broken beam. You can find this note to your right.
Item (11-12/14) – Abura-Andon + Tsuko Tegata
The Abura-Andon is next to the note we just grabbed, lying on the floor. The Tsuko Tegata is on the floor at the end of the beam the note was lying on. It’s a little hard to spot.
Document (6/7) – Letter From Hayama to Junko
Continue a few feet further into he cave and you should spot a wooden door and a pump control system to your right. Just past the door and to the left will be a second pump control with the note next to it.
Stare at Asuke’s body for more than 20 seconds
Just a few feet ahead and to the right will be Asuke’s corpse pinned to the wall. Stare at it until the achievement unlocks.
Document (7/7) – Letter in Asuke’s Satchel
On the floor besides Asuke. The interaction is a little wacky. You’ll need to crouch and really press your face into the note to pick it up.
Item (13/14) – Geta
Facing Asuke’s body, turn to your left to spot a large basin of water and another pump control. These are right besides them.
Item (14/14) – Magical Orb
For this item, we need to complete the next puzzle. I’ll list the steps down below if you need help. If you want to see the steps without the spoiler tag, go to the Puzzle Solutions section.
- Facing Asuke’s body, turn around and go up the hill. To the far right will be a pump control, and just above it will be a glowing ball. Our objective is to use the directional wheels on the control panels to guide the ball down.
- Starting from the pump under the ball, hit the left crank.
- Once the ball is about to pass over the pipe cross-section, move over to the pump near the top of the ramp up here and turn the left crank on that one to shift the ball onto that pipe.
- From here, move down the ramp and go to where you can unbarricade the wooden door. Pull the right crank. This one is a little tricky to time. You can use the control panel where you grabbed the Geta to readjust.
- Once the ball is about to go over the next cross-section, use the panel where you grabbed the Geta to go right.
- Now alternate between those exact 2 control panels to zig-zag the ball all the way down to the large basin near where the barricade was.
Complete Guiding Waters
Plug the Orb into the rubble to blow it up and end the chapter.
Walkthrough – Eight Elements
Head through the now cleared debris and unlock the door. Go up the staircase and you’ll receive a cutscene as soon as you emerge into a bedroom. As soon as the scene ends, search the shelves to your left to find the note.
Read the Ritual of Eternal Torment
Read the note you just picked up.
Items (1-2/12) – Box + File With Documents
On the candlelit table in the same room as the previous note.
Item (3/12) – Odd Key 3
Open the box and grab this from inside of it.
Document (2-5/5) – Letter From the Shogunate, Letter From Wakatsuki Jotaro, Letter From Ando Masahiro, Letter From Asano Hiroshi
Inspect the File With Documents and open it.
Item (4/12) – Asuke’s Kunai
Head back to where you fell into the cavern to find this right along the edge of the hole.
Item (5-12/12) – Intricate Tile 1-8
Make your way back to the pagoda room and interact with it. Pull out every single tile.
Complete Eight Elements
After pulling all of the tiles out, you now need to slot them in the correct order. You can figure this out by comparing their symbol to the symbols on the pagoda, using the large tablet in the room behind the pagoda to match them. As always, if my brief, description doesn’t help, I have a full picture breakdown in the Puzzle Solutions section. Once you’ve solved that, 3 new slots will open. You now need to match the shape of each Oss Key to their compartment on the pagoda. I shouldn’t need to explain how to do that.
Walkthrough – Constellation of the Gods
Facing the front of the pagoda, enter the room the right (where we originally found the Compass) to find all of the Zodiac paintings are now open. Grab the book from inside.
Complete Constellation of the Gods
After grabbing that book, you need to use it to match the symbols of each dot to their correct Zodiac painting. Each one will have a red dot on it telling you which symbols to look for. You’ll know you did it right when the dots turn blue. I have the solution and locations of each painting in the Puzzle Solutions section.
Walkthrough – Malice Never Ends
This is your final moment to check for any missing items/notes that you can still grab! The Geisha will be despawned during this chapter, giving you free reign of the entire mansion. Make use of it.
Complete the story
Head to the front of the pagoda and cleanse the head within, then complete the final chase sequence to end the game. Congratulations!
