This is a comprehensive guide to unlocking all 25 Achievements in Calcium Contract. Some easy and obvious, and other challenging yet fun! So let’s dive in.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
Changelog:
1/17/2024 – Guide Creation
Unmissable Achievements:
Pretty self explanatory, complete the first level of the game.
If you have trouble getting this then I don’t know what to say.
Serpenticide – Finish the game
Also self explanatory, defeat The Serpent in Map 22: Serpenticide . That weird chicken thing you’re chasing the entire game.
Hydra – Let the Serpent spread as much as possible
I’m fairly certain this is impossible to miss. Could be wrong
As you fight The Serpent in Map 22, it starts to split up into multiple serpents because it just feels like it. The Achievement will drop once 4 Serpents are in play
Unlikely to miss but maybe you were unlucky or something Achievements:
If it moves, kill it, and then repeat that 1000 times.
If you’re playing the game casually it’s very likely you’ll get this regardless. Unless you just feel like being a Pacifist today.
Gotcha! – Catch a treasure
In most levels, sometimes a Yellow Rooster will spawn for a variety of different reasons and run away from you to the exit. Kill at least one of these things and reap the rewards!
Combat Achievements:
Yet again self explanatory. Yellow Roosters, once spawned, make a mad dash to their own exit portal, simply chase after it as soon as one spawns and kill it with the Scythe right before they reach it. Exit Portals appear as a purple squares. Recommend using the charge attack to highen the chance for a single hit kill.
Yet again if they get away simply use the rewind and try again.
3 birds with one scythe – Kill 3 roosters with a single scythe swing
Highly recommend using the normal Purple Roosters for this. By holding down primary fire on the Scythe you charge up your melee attack for a more powerful. Simply wrangle 3 Roosters into your line of fire and slash them to pieces!
If needed you can use the rewind feature for more attempts
Seven in one – Kill 7 enemies with a single attack
Another self explanatory one, I also recommend using Roosters for this since it’s easier to wrangle them around but any enemy works. Simply get 7 enemies to form a clump and try to hit them all at once. I believe the Scythe, Yeller Skulls, and potentially the Ice Grenades are all valid and easy methods to get the achievement
Again, use the rewind feature if you fail a attempt
Frozen – Freeze 7 enemies at the same time
Similar method to the last Achievement but use the Ice Grenades this time. I’m currently unsure how exactly the grenades determine what to freeze and what to downright kill.
Again if you miss or the grenade doesn’t feel like freezing, just use the rewind to try again
The gravitational method – Cause an enemy to fall to their death
Push any enemy that can’t fly into a bottomless pit. Weapons like the basic Scythe swing, Ice Grenades, etc. are able to slightly push a enemy without killing them. Mountain Halls is a great map to try this as it’s filled with enemies close to bottomless pits.
I’m unsure if enemies take falling damage from falling from great heights but I can confirm pits work
Is this yours? – Kill an enemy with their own projectile
Yet again, another self explanatory one. Deflect any projectile from a enemy and use it to kill something. The easiest method is to isolate one of the weaker sheep creatures and deflect their goo balls with the Scythe’s basic slash. You’re also able to deflect enemy projectiles with your own projectiles but I’ve never noticed if that was effective or not.
Just an illusion – Kill an invisible jester
Probably the trickest combat related achievement. Jesters are the, well, jester looking enemies that teleport enemy positions around. Occasionally they will disappear and roam around invisible. Simply kill one while they’re creeping around invisible.
If you have access to Yeller Skulls I highly recommend using them as I think Jesters decloak if they just get damaged and not kill. Otherwise try to weaken them with the basic Scythe swings and then charged swings to finished them off once invisible
Highly recommend using rewind extensively for this
Icarus – Kill a flying sniper just before they take their shot
Cat Snipers when ready to fire fly up into the air and start aiming at you with a super obvious laser pointer along with a super obvious sound cue. Simple kill them before the sound effect finishes playing.
Easiest weapon to use is the Triple Flintlock as the middle barrel always hits where the crosshair is aiming, and on at least Fair it takes two shots to take a sniper down.
Level Challenge Achievements:
Map 6: Cats Temple has a lot of Cat enemies, KILL all of them.
I’m currently unsure if the Goat enemies count towards this achievement for them being there.
Sacred ground – Don’t kill any cats in the Cats Temple
Map 6: Cats Temple has a lot of Cat enemies, LIVE all of them.
Thankfully this map has a lot of shield powerups, so pick them up and run through the hitscan hell like a mad skeleton! Remember that rewinding has your back!
Caged forever – Finish the Mountain Halls without picking any yeller skulls
Fairly standard, Complete Map 15: Mountain Halls without grabbing any Yeller Skulls. Which would be simple except for the fact that it’s the only weapon pickup, other than grenades. As the map is filled with Rocket Propelled Horses and Flying Fire Frog things I recommend taking it slow and using the charged Scythe attack with much effectiveness and avoid as many combat encounters as possible
Speedlunker – Finish the Caves in under 3 minutes in one go (no rewinding, no loading)
Here we go, a Speedrun Achievement! Map 11: Caves is one of the more complex maps in terms of structure with plenty of side rooms and requiring all three keys in the order of Blue, Red, and Green. I recommend taking a few test runs to scope out the first room to get to the Red Key and then make a mad dash to the final arena that needs the Green Key to enter. That final arena has a shield powerup and there’s nothing stopping you from pressing the switch that leads to the exit.
Remember! Rewinding can’t save you so just hit Map Reset if you fail!
Industrial efficiency – Finish the Industrial District in under 90 seconds in one go (no rewinding, no loading)
Map 20: Industrial District is a far trickier speedrun as not only is the time shorter due to the map being smaller but also has some quirks in progression that you can’t just dash through. I recommend following the conveyor belts for extra speed towards the room where the Red Key is, loop around back to the Red Door, and head into the room with the Slug Bros. I believe the switch between them activates the door after a delay so survive for a bit while waiting for the door to open and make a dash to the Green Key Arena once you can. Grab the Key as soon as it drops and run right towards the exit.
Again, Rewinding can’t save you so just hit Map Reset if you fail!
Misc Achievements:
In roughly 18 out of the 22 Maps, Yellow Roosters will spawn carrying treasure and make a mad dash to a exit. Simple kill very single one you encounter and you’ll get it. They thankfully make a very loud bell noise when they spawn so tracking them down is fairly easy. Plus rewind is always there to lend a hand if one gets away.
Although I have had progress for the achievement drop with actually killing the Roosters but I assume that’s a bug.
Timeless – Destroy all clocks in every level
In roughly 18 out of the 22 Maps, There are Clocks that need to be broken. Both the Clock Wizard enemies that provide a various amount of effects during combat but also the Grandfather Clock decor object in levels. If you’re missing some, double check the level for any optional rooms that might be hiding some pesky clocks.
Too eager – Get a little too eager when chasing the Serpent
This achievement is weird as it’s probably the most vague one of the bunch. Basically you need to do a “bad” thing to yourself because you’re too distracted going after that Flying Avian Worm. A method I found that works, is near the end of Map 13: Pipes. Where right before you exit The Serpent flies by and you simply just walk off the cliff.
I’m sure there’s other ways out there but I know for a fact this method worked.
Dead man’s boom – Get killed by an exploding corpse
Personally I’m not exactly sure if this is correct but. The Flying Fire Frog things apparently explode upon death and you need to get killed by this. I only managed to get this from trying to do the Mountain Halls achievement since i was low on health constantly from trying to shank horse knees and flying fire frogs.
Anger management – Cause a berserker to kill another enemy
Berserkers are the bigger, redder roosters that sometimes get mad when you attack them. As they follow you like the other chasing roosters simply try to get them peeved when in range of a weak enemy like a Goat or Purple Rooster and watch the infighting!
Unstoppable – Get both the armor and the increased damage power-ups at the same time
Self explanatory but tricky since the power-ups are quite uncommon let alone together. In Map 18: Footbridge, there is a increased damage power-up in the lava arena. Ignore it and head to the Red Key. Because when you pick up the Red Key it causes a Shield Power-up to spawn very close by. Then simply pick both power-ups in succession.
From my experience you can also get this potentially from doing the Spelunker Achievement in Map 11: Caves.
Pong – Deflect 7 enemy projectiles with a single scythe swing
Near the later half of the game, you encounter the enemies I have retroactively named Slug Bros since I don’t think the game has a bestiary or the such that I know yet. They spew out a absurd amount of purple globs so simple stand near them with the Scythe and swing away once they fire!
