Are you struggling to remember your Build, Perk, and Weapon choices in Battle Brothers after taking a break from the game? Look no further! In this guide, I will be sharing my personal notes on the builds I use in Expert/Expert gameplay, as well as the pros and cons of various weapons and information on perks. While some of my thoughts and notes may be based on others’ guides, keep in mind that many of these may no longer be relevant due to the Southern DLC. So, let’s dive in and explore some different ideas on builds and perks together!

Builds
The fodder is used as a one-time, or maybe several-time lone wolf shield in the early and mid-game.
What I want from him is to attract as many enemies and hold as long as he may, to let the other brothers kill the rest enemies.
He is low in defence and skill, resolve, and health, and mostly unusable (as a Beggar).
Level up: defence, resolve, health
Most of the bros are located here. Not good in expecting defence (<30) and skill (<80), resolve (<80).
So they are using a shield and one-hand weapon, having Fast Adaptation and Backstab for melee skill, Steel Brow and Underdog for defence.
These bros aim to kill brigands before ~35 days and get the armor as fast and many as possible. They also help save the potential brothers in the fight.
I have 4 free perks here, quite flexible with Pathfinder, Gifted, Rotation, Recover, Polearm Mastery, Quickhand, and Berserk, depending on what the warband needs.
Level up: which is higher, except range skill and defence
This brother is so-so in range skill (~80), not enough for late-game fights.
However, in mid-game he can snipe those annoying necromancer, shaman, drummer, and brigand snipers. In the late game, he has Overwhelm to do some support.
2 free perks here, can be chosen among: Recover, Anticipation (vs. Goblin/Nomad city), Footwork (attracting enemies), Crippling Strikes.
Level up: range skill+, range defence, health, Initiative, Fatigue
This brother has high defence (~35), but not good fatigue (<130).
He can Taunt one enemy each turn, or attack with the weapon if has Overwhelm. I need him to hold the line and sometimes save the others.
Nimble shield performs much better than Lonewolf shield in the early and mid-game, until the Lonewolf shield is level 7 with heavy armor.
2 free perks among: Nine Lives, Steel Brow, Overwhelm (with goblin skewer), Resilient, Indomitable.
Level up: defence+, health, resolve, initiative, fatigue
High defence (~35) and melee skill (~85), low fatigue (<110) and initiative.
This is the traditional fat neutral build, used a lot in different guides and videos.
The idea is to walk once and hit with a two-handed weapon, which costs 14 fatigue and the natural fatigue recovery is 15 per turn.
3 free perks among: Fortified Mind + Fearsome (with ~60 resolve), Steel Brow, Gifted, Polearm Mastery (Walk twice and attack with polearm, more flexibility), Bags and Belts (for nets and whip, and more available fatigue), Executioner
Here I am using Mace Mastery. Undoubtedly it needs to be changed into Axe Mastery if the bro is using an axe.
Level up: melee skill+, melee defence+, health, resolve, fatigue
It is an alternative fat neutral build, having Dodge means higher defence in melee and range, and wearing light armor means more available fatigue in the fight.
Generally, I will see if the brother has higher resolve or initiative at level 6~7, since the two fat builds share many same perks. Higher resolve fits Heavy Fat, and Higher initiative fits Nimble Fat.
2 free perks among: Recover + Berserk (not very low fatigue), Steel Brow, Gifted, Polearm Mastery (Walk twice and attack with polearm), Bags and Belts (for nets and whip, and more available fatigue)
Level up: melee skill+, melee defence+, health, initiative, fatigue
This build is handy when I don’t have brothers suitable to carry a two-hand hammer with heavy armor (which needs like >140 fatigue, and good melee skill and defence).
The idea is to have Dodge, Overwhelm and Reach Advantage to survive 2-3 heavy armor enemies, while doing great armor damage. Not expecting him to have any kills.
1 free perk in: Steel Brow, Relentless, Gifted
Level up: melee skill+, melee defence+, health, initiative, fatigue
For brothers with high Melee skill (>85), low defence or resolve.
My warband needs him to do AOE damage, using whip and net to control champion enemy, and overwhelm elite enemies.
The perk choice of a polearm brother is strongly connected to the attribute of himself.
Only 4 free perks among: Colossus (for bros who need it to reach 80 hp), Berserk + Recover (>110 fatigue), Overwhelm (>130 initiative), Bags and Belts (more throwing items), Cleaver Mastery (better disarm), Killing frenzy, Backstabber
Level up: melee skill+, melee defence, health, initiative, fatigue
The captain with high resolve (~85) and melee skill (~85) uses battle standard to do damage and whip & net to control the battleground.
2 free perks among: Polearm mastery, Bags and Belts, Cleaver Mastery
Colossus is also variable if my captain has a high initial value and stars in hp.
Level up: melee skill+, resolve+, health, fatigue
The captain uses handgonne to deal AOE damage, throwing weapons for more damage, or Fearsome and Overwhelm for debuff.
I would say the melee captain is better.
2 free perks among: Fearspme, Overwhelm, Bags and Belts, Throwing Mastery + Duelist
Level up: range skill+, resolve+, health, fatigue
