A basic build guide for the Mystic class.
Overview
I will be updating these guides as my opinions and the game itself changes. If you have any criticisms or thoughts of your own, please feel free to share them.
“The Golden Rule”
Experiment. Try different stuff. Learn what you like, and what you don’t like.
Races
I picked Kobold, mainly because I like Kobolds, but also for their Alacrity skill which is good for casters.
Stats
I highly recommend investing at least some points in vitality so that you don’t get flattened by a sneeze or a mere gust of wind.
I do not recommend investing points in dex just for the crit chance, as you can get a decent amount of crit from gear alone.
Mystic Skills
Fluxspear – Does decent damage and stuns targets, and can also hit multiple targets. Stuns can be very useful, but you need to make sure you’re using them.
Cross – Decent multi target spell, and also applies a debuff to enemies causing them to take more magic damage. The only problem I really have with it is knocking back enemies can be annoying. Most of the time you want enemies grouped together, not all spread out.
Nova –I’ll be honest, I don’t really understand this one. It broadly just seems like a worse Cross. Sure, it does a little more damage, but the debuff from Cross just seems more useful.
Prism – This one’s okay, but the fact that the shielding is flat and doesn’t scale means it isn’t as useful as it could be. If you’re my crazy friend and rock an all-mind-no-vitality build though, this can at least help you to stay out of one shotting territory.
Imbue – Buff skills are all mandatory picks imo. Unless you’re in a coordinated group with multiple of the same class and have a dedicated “buffer” party member, bring your buff skill. It’s just free extra stats.
Restora – Also a mandatory pick, in my opinion. It’s your heal skill, and it’s really good.
Blink – Very nice extra mobility, and it’s a passive to boot. I highly recommend taking this. The MP cost is negligible for the most part, especially once you get to higher levels and better gear.
Manaflow –Not all that useful in my opinion. How MP regen works in this game is you must stop casting and wait for a bit before your MP starts regenerating. This skill does make a significant difference in how fast the regen goes, but it doesn’t affect that delay. You’re better off bringing consumables or taking another MP management skill that I will mention shortly.
Classless Skills
Life Tap – This thing’s amazing. With it, you have basically infinite mana. I can just spam fluxbolt and by the time I’m empty, Life Tap is back off cooldown. Then you just hit it, heal yourself, and you’re good to go again. You really only need the first rank of this, because who cares if it’s 40% health instead of 50%?
Divine – Insanely busted skill. Fully expecting a nerf eventually. This is an AoE that both damages enemies and heals allies.
Siphon Leech – Very good recovery skill as well. Possible alternative to Divine if you haven’t gotten it yet, or possible to slot that somewhere else in a build for added tankiness.
Alacrity – Being able to instantly cast your next spell for free on a 40s cooldown is just broadly useful.
If anyone has any other weird classless skill combos I haven’t thought of or tried, feel free to let me know.
My Personal Build
Actives:
7/7 Fluxbolt
4/4 Restora
1/3 Life Tap
3/3 Divine
5/5 Imbue
3/3 Alacrity
Passives:
3/3 Bell Mastery
3/3 Blink
I use bells exclusively. Keep Imbue up at all times. Spam main attack (or charge attack, depending on bell) for multi target, spam fluxbolt for single target. Life Tap when mana empty, Alacrity + Restora to bump your health back up. Divine is also very useful for self sustain.
