“Are you tired of constantly searching for specific items in Satisfactory? This guide will show you how to build an efficient storage sorter using Programmable and Smart Splitters. Keep in mind that this build requires at least 10×10 foundation space, not including transportation methods like trains, trucks, and drones. Before starting, decide on the number of items and parts per minute you want to be sorted and make a note of it. Let’s get started!”
Summary
There is an issue of conveyor mergers; when two or more items are being merged into one conveyor belt, there will be a moment of delay for each belt that is being merged, we solve this by putting buffers before mergers.
(one storage depo in between a conveyor belt will store the item that would wait in place and delay the system)
When the storages are full, it leaves the LINES with spare items that must get recycled into Awesome sink’s.
FIRST PART: Identify each LINE’s items
(60×12=720 rpm of items in total [the missing 60 rpm is for safety measures], you can adjust any item’s rpm to your liking as long as the total items being lower or equal than 720 rpm)
1.First you need to identify storage LINE’s:
For example:
LINE 1
-Iron Plate
-Reinforced Iron Plate
-Iron Rod
-Screw
-Rotor
-Stator
-Motor
-Turbo Motor
-Modular Frame
-Heavy Modular Frame
-Fused Modular Frame
-Nitrogen Gas
You can add a LINE for every 12 different item.
(Or conversely, you can remove some lines and increase others)
2.Identify each line like the first step
SECOND PART: Smart Splitter Placement
2.Every SMART SPLITTER have to be calibrated per item according to the item storage container
For example=If Storage container is on the RIGHT side of the Smart splitter (RIGHT=Item name, MIDDLE=Overflow, LEFT=None)
THIRD PART:Getting the items to the PROGRAMMABLE SPLITTERS
NOTE:PROGRAMMABLE SPLITTERS IS COVERED AT THE FORTH PART.
WARNING If you are using TRAINS,TRUCKS and DRONES these are the things you have to look into:
TRAINS=FREIGHT PLATFROM have 2 exits (Since a LINE can carry 720 rpm, 2 exits 720×2=1440)
Single FREIGHT PLATFROM can bring maximum of 1440 RPM.(this means a SINGLE FREIGHT PLATFROM can bring 24 different items maximum).
PS:The items you bring home/base doesn’t have to be same as the Storage LINE
EXAMPLE FOR TRAINS:
24 different item = 8(LINE 1)+10(LINE 2)+2(LINE 3)+4(LINE 4)=24 different items
TRUCKS=TRUCK STATION(Same as TRAINS)
DRONES=DRONE PORT have 1 exit so=720 rpm (12 different items maximum)
1-From the exit of the said transportation method(Trains, trucks, drones) draw a conveyor belt to the ENTRANCE OF THE PROGRAMMABLE SPLITTERS STORAGE CONTAINER
(You can connect the conveyor belts after you have finised the MAIN SORTER(FORTH PART)
FOURTH PART: MAIN SORTERS
EXAMPLE FROM MY WORLD :
6 FREIGHT PLATFORMS = 12 CONVEYOR BELTS = 12 MAIN SORTERS
MAIN SORTER:
MAIN SORTER CONTAINS OF=(PROGRAMMABLE SPLITTERS=LINES YOU HAVE)
4 LINE’S = 4×12= 48 different items = 4 Programmable splitters
(I am using 6 LINE so I am using 6 Programmable splitter)
BUILDING THE SORTERS :
1- Put a Storage Container (if you want to make it stackable like in the image above use storage container.(Dont use industrial storage)
2- Put a Conveyor Merger infront of the storage container exit(Explained why in STEP 6)
3- Put the Programmable splitters (Programmable splitter number have to be equal to the LINE number )in a strait line in front of the Merger Like the image above.
4- Calibrate the Programmable splitter that matches the LINE items.
FOR EXAMPLE=FIRST STEP LINE 1= FIRST Programmable Splitter
5-Do the STEP 4 for every programmable splitter
6-(Because there is a bug about auto saving : When exactly a item passes through a Programmable splitter the item doesn’t get sorted insted overflows) connect the last programmable splitter overflow exit to the merger entrance.
7-Put the Container Storages at the exit of the programmable splitters calibrated exits.
When you done all of the 7 steps, your system looks like this=
THIS is for single conveyor belt if you bring items more than 1 conveyor belt or use trains(that have 2 exit per freight platform)
8-Now that we filtered every conveyor belt to their correct LINE we have the SAME LINE in every conveyor belt
EXAMPLE FROM MY WORLD AGAIN=
I have 6 LINES but I have 6 FREIGHT PLATFORM=12 CONVEYOR BELT=12 MAIN SORTER
each MAIN SORTER WILL CREATE 6 LINE SO
12 MAIN SORTER =72 LINE , BUT I WANT 6 SO MERGER IS NEEDED SO
72 LINE (FIRST MERGERS using 2 entarnces)=36 LINE
36 LINE (SECOND MERGERS using all 3 entrances)=12 LINE
12 LINE (THIRD MERGERS using 2 entrances)=6 LINE
FIFTH PART: LINE connection to the Smart Splitters
NOTE:In my save there is an elevation difference between the smart splitters and LINE locations, you dont have to do them in different elevations as I do.
WARNING:DO NOT FORGET WHICH LINE GOES TO WHICH SMART SPLITTER ENTRANCE
1- Connect the designated LINE to the first smart splitter from the SECOND PART that you made
Now we have filtered the items to enter the desired storage containers, BUT if the containers are full, the items need to go somewhere.
2- At the end of every LINE Place a AWESOME SINK.
Finished Auto Sorter from top down look using Satisfactory Calculator Interactive map.
QA
A: Because of the mergers we or ı use to connect the same LINES with each other but the conveyor belts speed is same, that creats a backlog. The containers keeps the main programmable conveyor belt function without delay.
