🖐️ Overview
EST Completion Time (1 Playthrough): 20 minutes
Achievements Available: 0 (N/A)
Fingerbones is a short (~20 minute) psychological horror in which you play as a man revisiting his bunker and recalling the dark and disturbing events that occurred there. After acquiring a flashlight and enabling the bunker’s generator, you will search for notes scattered across the rooms depicting the horrific events that occurred within the bunker and his justification of them. While some notes found simply add to the emotional experience, the majority are used as context clues for the rather simplistic puzzles needing completion to proceed deeper into the bunker and story.

🦴 Walkthrough Part 1: Ground Level
From the entrance of the bunker, walk straight ahead towards the desk along the furthest wall.
Upon reaching the desk, the flashlight will be atop the left side; grab it (using LMB).
From the desk, walk straight ahead to the furthest wall and locate the generator on the right side.
Upon reaching the generator, press the button (using LMB) to turn it on.
After enabling the generator, locate and read the 4 notes found on the ground level floor. The notes will provide context clues for the next step ahead.
Note 1: Located on the middle shelf of a bookshelf, the first note reads…
“When I was 15 years old I lost my virginity. I shook uncontrollably the entire time. I felt that same primal excitement yesterday night in the cellar.”
Note 2: Located atop the center-most desk, the second note reads…
“It’s my weekend to get Katie, but I’m not really in the mood. I distracted her with the TV and came here to read. I couldn’t interest myself in reading, so I tried to write. I couldn’t write anything more than the usual handful of disconnected thoughts and theories. Medication didn’t help and divorce certainly didn’t help. Because I am not depressed — I am enlightened. This is the result of two decades of scientific education and philosophical pondering. This is the price of knowledge.”
Note 3: Located atop a desk in a dark corner, the third note reads…
“I don’t know why I’d use my daughter’s name as a door lock code in my survival bunker, but whatever keeps her happy, I suppose. She’s like her mother. A delicate, fragile version of her mother. Damn her.”
Note 4: Located on a desk, the fourth note reads…
“[It appears to be a page from a manuscript] Pop morality is too reliant on emotions, and not reliant enough on rational thought. If morality must be determined (and I maintain that it is a farce), it should not be determined by feeling. Feelings are nebulous, subjective, and changeable. Rather, it should be determined by thinking. The actions of a natural creature are natural and thus moral, unless a concrete scientific reason can be given to prove them as immoral.”
Next to the 4th note you read there is a keyboard which can be used to unlock the door to the bunker’s lower level. Based on the knowledge you gained by reading the four notes found on the ground floor, enter the passcode (Katie) into the console.
Located to the left of the generator, proceed through the door leading to the lower level.
🦴 Walkthrough Part 2-1: Lower Level
After entering the lower level, follow the stairs down to the first room of the floor. Locate and read the 3 notes found in this room, which will provide context clues for the next step ahead.
Note 5: Located on a chair near the door to room 2, the fifth note reads…
“It’s finally happened. The whole world is a chaos of thunder and screams, and when the ashes settle we will all be wild animals again. I am ecstatic beyond words. I haven’t been able to reach Lynn for several days, and she’s probably dead for all I know or care. But Katie was here when it started, and I have no idea what to do with her. Most of the town is dead. Katie and I only survived because we ran to the bunker. Perhaps this is what I’ve needed. Freedom from all the irrational rules and inane social values. Just pure, beautiful survival.”
Note 6: Located on a stack of boxes near the hatch, the sixth note reads…
“I boxed up everything that isn’t practical and useful. I burned all the books that weren’t for scientific edification. I’d like to store the boxes in the cellar, but I can’t get them down the ladder by myself. I just piled them up near the hatch. The blood would probably ruin them anyway.”
Note 7: Located on a stack of boxes near the hatch, the seventh note reads…
“The tool room has been her name for years now, and I can’t bring myself to change it.”
Return upstairs to the console keyboard on the ground level (next to the 4th note you’d located). Based on the knowledge you gained by reading the three notes found in room 1 of the lower level, enter the passcode (Lynn) into the console.
Return to the lower level and enter the tool room.
🦴 Walkthrough Part 2-2: LL Tool Room
Locate and read the 3 notes found in the lower level tool room, which will provide context clues for the next step ahead.
Note 8: Located atop a book on a desk in the left side of the tool room, the eighth note reads…
“She remembered Father’s Day, and drew me a picture. I don’t understand her. She’s just like her mother. She wants to waste time drawing pictures, and we’re barely able to find enough food to survive. I turned her crayons into candles. We need more candles in case the generator goes out again, and it helps break up the monotony. I yearn for the excitement of those first weeks.”
Note 9: Located atop a box on a sideways desk in the left side of the tool room, the ninth note reads…
“There are things I’ve wanted to do for years. Desires I’ve kept locked in the back of my consciousness. It’s been nearly a year since I’ve seen a woman, and now I realize there’s no practical reason to keep those desires locked up anymore.”
Note 10: Located on a box atop a fallen file cabinet in the right side of the lower level tool room, the tenth note reads…
“I changed the storage room code to something I can easily remember. nny [the rest of the word is missing]”
Return upstairs to the console keyboard on the ground level (next to the 4th note you’d located). Based on the knowledge you gained by reading the three notes found in the lower level tool room, enter the passcode (nnyL) into the console.
Return to the lower level and enter the storage room.
🦴 Walkthrough Part 2-3: LL Storage Room
Locate and read the only note found in the lower level storage room, which will provide context clues for the next step ahead.
Note 11: Located on a stack of boxes in the right side of the lower level storage room, the eleventh note reads…
“I am a bag of DNA, and I exist to make more of myself. I married and produced a daughter because my genes demand reproduction. I wrote books and created, because creativity served a survival advantage to my ancient ape ancestors. I built this place, took refuge in it, and spent hours thinking up silly little artificial laws to live by, because my forefathers built cities and societies, to allow time and peace to reproduce and to protect their genes. Dreams, loves, opinions, desires, beauty, innocence… figments of our collective primordial imagination. Fleeting electrical signals that fire across our synapses for a pointless moment in time. They used to serve a purpose, and now they are needless confusion. And here I am, the last man on earth for all I know, ready to be freed from them.”
Hidden by a stack of boxes on the left side of the storage room, locate & push the hidden button to reveal a secret compartment on the bunker’s ground level. Return to the ground floor.
After returning to the ground floor, you’ll notice a hidden compartment has been revealed on the wall across you.
Locate & review the note in the ground floor’s hidden compartment, which will provide context clues for the next step ahead.
Note 12: Located in the hidden compartment on the ground floor, the twelfth note reads…
“The cellar is freedom.”
Return to the console keyboard (next to the 4th note you’d located). Based on the knowledge you gained by reading the note from the ground floor hidden compartment, enter the passcode (Freedom) into the console.
Return to the lower level and use the hatch to enter the cellar.
🦴 Walkthrough Part 3: LL2 Cellar
Locate and read the first note found in the bunker’s cellar.
Note 13: Located atop a box on the floor, the thirteenth note reads…
“There’s only enough food for one, so she’s going to die anyway. And I’m free now. Freedom. It took the end of all humanity for me to find freedom.”
Locate and read the second note found in the bunker’s cellar.
Note 14: Located atop a table of torture, the fourteenth note reads…
“[It seems to have been torn from a diary] She finally died last night. I don’t know whether from starvation, dehydration, or blood loss. I threw her body into the woods. Her fingers–my anti-religious artifacts… my testaments to moral and intellectual freedom–are locked in the safe upstairs. I am content in the knowledge that I haven’t done anything wrong.”
Note: The game will automatically close upon completion.
