In this gaming guide, we will show you how to get all of the endings and mythical items in Cursenday’s Black Carnival. These items will help you earn the “Carnival Phantasm” and “Ragnarok” achievements. We will also provide a list of traits that can be found in this module.
Introduction
According to the “Carnival Phantasm” and “Ragnarok” achievements this should include all the endings and mythical items as of 9/19/2024.
For traits, I haven’t found a larger list than what I have right now. But I don’t have an achievement to confirm that I have all of them.
Endings (Carnival Phantasm achievement)
It’s recommended to do these during Bruno’s route since you can only get the “Time Traveler” trait during Bruno’s route. To do Bruno’s route, on day 4 talk to Lukes at the bar and then go meet Sandra at the cabin. Go with her to save Bruno.
Leave before the snowstorm arrives – Simply leave the town via the train any time starting from day 2.
Falling Sun – On day 5 or 6 go shelter in the hotel to get the “End of Days” trait.
Atal’Khar has descended. – On day 5 lose to spider god to get the “Emotional Isolation” trait.
Purifying Flame of the World – On day 6 lose to either boss fight inside the Incinerator to get the “Seeker of Fire” trait.
Rising Sun Fireworks – Defeat the bosses in the incinerator without meeting true ending requirements.
After going to Lucifero’s hideout on day 4, go back to the flower shop and read the letter on Simon’s desk. Then go to Adolf’s mansion. If you want to get the true ending, see the conditions in the next section.
The End of the Opera – Lose to corrupted Nancy to get the “Enthralled” trait.
Annihilation – After beating corrupted Nancy, choose to reveal the truth and then leave with Simon and Nancy to get the “Revealer” trait.
Collapse – Stick with Ben. When Ben summons a monster, fail the diplomacy check and lose the ensuing boss fight against Ben to get “Native Plasm Symbiosis”
Despair Endures – Lose to the true ending boss to get the “Undercurrent of Despair” trait.
The Herald of the Unopened – Beat the true ending boss to get the “Seed of Hope” trait.
While doing Simon’s route, do the following:
- (not sure if required) On day 1, when you first talk to Ben at the bar, try to ask for more information and then refuse to drink. (the dialogue from Ben after the spider god fight refers back to this, I don’t know if you still get the dialogue otherwise. Another guide said that getting this dialogue is required.)
- Before starting Simon’s route make sure to meet Sandra at the cabin.
- After corrupted Nancy fight pick up Adolf’s staff nearby (top left of room) and go save Adolf from the Church basement.
- Stick with Ben until after spider god fight.
- Ask Ben about his Aunt.
- Bring the ring from the phonograph in Padric’s manor to the mayor’s room in the Town Hall and place it on the shelf to get a cutscene.
- Defeat Padric and fire boss in the incinerator.
- After talking to everyone in the bar, Naya will appear if conditions are met.
- Ask Naya to tell you the truth to reach the true ending final boss.
Traits List
Effect: Will and Will limit +10. Gain a random madness trait upon entering a module.
Sleeping: Randomly toggles awake/sleeping trait on 2 other experience traits.
Note: This has a big negative effect.
Mind Control Master – On day 2, from the pickpocket’s place on New Moon Street bring the cylinder to the shop by the bar and do his sidequest.
Effect: Will +10. When failing a mental check, restore health to full.
Sleeping: Mental limit -10. Will -10.
Royal Criminal Lawyer – On day 2, 3 or 4 go to the Pomegranate Alley left house 3x and resolve the situation. You can reload the map to do this all in one day.
Effect: Start with 500 gold. Sacrifice 200 gold after every battle to gain 8 luck.
Sleeping: Gain 20 luck at module start. After each battle consume 10 luck to gain 200 gold.
Note: Any character that inherits from Cursenday’s Black Carnival endings will have a huge amount of gold, so this trait is very worth having.
Forgiveness for the Remaining Time – On day 4 when Nancy gets sick, look for another way to cure her. The mob will provide you with a doctor. Spare the doctor’s life afterwards.
Effect: Vitality boost increase to skill success rate increased to 25 from 20.
Judgement Release – Same as “Forgiveness for the Remaining Time ” trait, but kill the doctor instead.
Effect: Mental fatigue will decrease success rate by up to -15 instead of -20.
The Clockmaker – Help Mr. White (Old Street Square watchmaker) on day 3 at his shop and at the church Bell Tower on day 4. While going up the clock tower on day 4, use his dropped phone for a cutscene.
Effect: For each primary skill at 90, +3 speed.
Sleeping: When performing an action with temporary speed bonus gain inspire effect.
Urban Hunting – On day 2 talk to the hunter in Old Street Square, on day 4 find bear tracks in Pomegranate Alley, then fight a bear near the pickpocket’s house.
Effect: Monsters drop more loot.
Geek Skills – On day 4, access the computer in Lucifero’s hideout. Must have the done the Pomegranate Alley lady’s sidequest.
Effect: Craft skill +10. Start with a screwdriver.
Glimmering Benevolence – Help Marcel every day. On day 2 he will be in the church. On day 3 you can help him fight outside the church and then meet him near the bar. On day 4 you can find him outside the bar. After that he will save the pickpocket in the church on day 5.
Effect: When mental state is normal, recover 1 more mana every turn.
Sleeping: When mental state is exhausted/fatigued lose 1 mana every turn.
Time Traveler – During Bruno’s route on day 5, go to the bell tower after it starts acting weird. Try to destroy it but give up at the critical moment to get this trait.
Effect: +5 dex. Speed won’t go below dex amount.
Devouring Otherworldly Flames – After Sandra’s store burns down on day 3, take her item fragment on the left of the burnt store to the left area of the church. Search all the boxes to get a lamp. Place the lamp on the pillar to light it up. Whenever you arrive at Padric’s manor, in the secret room go to the left and kill the fire monster.
Effect: After casting a spell, take 2 less damage this turn.
Resonance of Affection – Possible starting from day 2, find a file in the church basement and bring it to city hall. Check city hall computer again on day 6.
Effect: All allies gain additional [Inspiration] when they receive [Enthusiasm].
Golden Pistol – Let Ben kill Constantine after spider god fight on day 5. Beat the incinerator boss fight(s) and get one of “Rising Sun Fireworks”, “Despair Endures” or “The Herald of the Unopened” endings.
Effect: Start with Ben’s pistol and 8 ammo.
Unpoisonable – Go to the the New Moon Street cabin on day 6 and at the bird shop bargain and buy all the gacha boxes. One of them will contain some white powder. Eat it to get this trait.
Effect: Eat suspicious goo to heal 3 health.
Sleeping: When eating suspicious goo gain 2 SP up to 60 SP.
Enthralled – get the “The End of the Opera” ending.
Effect: Each turn you don’t spend MP lose 3 spirit points.
Sleeping: Each turn you spend MP, gain 2 spirit points.
End of Days – get the “Falling Sun” ending.
Effect: Each time you complete a module set luck to 0 and gain 500 time points.
Revealer – Get the “Annihilation” ending by revealing the truth during Simon’s route.
Effect: If in high spirits, get 2 spirit points every time you consume luck.
Sleeping: If in a state of mental weakness or exhaustion gain 5 spirit points every time you consume luck.
Native Plasm Symbiosis – Get the “Collapse” ending.
Effect: +10 stamina. Whenever you get burn status lose 3 spirit points.
Sleeping: Whenever you get the burn status restore 3 spirit points.
Emotional Isolation – Get the “Atal’Khar has descended.” ending.
Effect: Mental capacity limit -15. Critical threshold for mental debilitation decreased by 10.
Sleeping: Belief effect now sets spirit points to 35 instead.
Seeker of Fire – Get the “Purifying Flame of the World” ending.
Effect: At the start of battle, get 1 stack of burning. At the start of each turn, if you have burning restore health to full.
Sleeping: Each time a burn effect is triggered in battle, increase STR and WILL by +5 for this battle. Up to 3 times per battle.
Undercurrent of Despair – Lose to the true ending boss.
Effect: Receive 2 penalty dice on all checks.
Sleeping: Energy threshold reduced by 5.
Seed of Hope – Beat the true ending boss.
Effect: Upon critical success gain 1 charge on a random equipment.
Sleeping: Upon critical failure restore 3 HP.
Mythical Items (Ragnarok achievement)
Above are icons for all the mythical items obtainable from this module. Their information is listed in the same order below.
The Oracle of Kadas – On night 1 don’t go with Bruno, instead go the top right outside the hotel and save a little girl. On day 3 go up the Church bell tower and read the text above the old man, then talk to the old man for a cutscene. Then go through the secret passage in the Church basement and talk to the girl’s father to get this item before he becomes spiders.
Effect: Grants spell “Dream Brew Alchemy” which makes a potion that stuns and heals teammates. When equipped it costs 3 spirit points and gives 8 luck.
Soul Serum – Found in the hospital research room at the end of day 3.
Effect: Puts crazy trait to sleep and gives 3 spirit points. 3 charges.
Opera: King in Yellow – Talk to the crazy guy outside the flower shop starting on day 2. On day 3 check the spot twice for a corpse and for crazy guy again. On day 4 find his corpse, then loot his corpse. Can be finished on day 5 too.
Effect: When casting a spell that doesn’t deal direct damage, deal 2-8 damage to a random enemy. If mentally weakened or exhausted recover 5 spirit points.
Cursed by Resentment – Go with Ben during Simon’s route.
Effect: When downed or revived from downed state, lose 3 spirit points and 5 spirit points cap. Then gain +10 strength and strength cap. Stacks 10 times and lasts the whole module.
The Book of Forgiveness – Drops from spider god fight on day 5.
Effect: Gives 3 unique spells. The first one is that big AOE damage spell that Constantine likes to spam.
Horn of Eris – Duplicate item that might drop from bird shop on day 6.
Burning Gemstone – Obtained from the Incinerator boss on day 6.
Effect: At the cost of 3 SP: remove negative effects from a teammate at the cost of -2 SP per removal or throw at enemies to set them on fire and deal 2-6 damage. +3 damage for each negative effect on the enemy.
Black Queen – Beat the true ending boss.
Effect: When activating a skill effect lose 1 spirit point, critical success range increases by 3 until the end of the battle and deal 2-8 spell damage to all enemies. Can trigger up to 4 times per battle.
Bio Armor – On day 5 in Mr. White’s shop, help Harrison and worship the monster.
Effect: Speed +30 and reduces non-piercing and non-spell damage taken by 5.
“Exchange” – During Simon’s route, after Nancy fight, find Adolf’s staff nearby and go rescue him.
Effect: Agility -20, after attacking with melee consume 3 spirit points to deal 5-8 damage. If it’s a monster deal double damage.
Rose Black Sword – During Simon’s Route defeat corrupted Nancy.
Effect: 7 charges. 4-14 normal damage (brawl). Each time you kill an enemy or take damage gain 1 charge. During an attack with this weapon spend 3 charges to turn it into a spell damage attack and launch an additional attack.
Note: Erudition can prevent this from using charges like other technique weapons.
Stagnation block – Same as “Time Traveler” trait but push through to destroy the mechanism.
Effect: Repeat all of team’s attacks at the end of the turn. Useable once per battle. 5 charges.
Sun lantern – Same as the “Devouring Otherworldy Flames” trait, but free the fire monster instead.
Effect: Summon a fire monster that attacks immediately. When the monster dies restore all MP.
Other Secrets
- To unlock Constantine as a partner, you must bring at least one spider related mythic item or trait (I’ve tested that Atlach Doll and inherited Timeless Music trait each work by themselves. Orb of Nacha and Blessed by Atlach trait should work too). After beating spider god and talking to nearby NPCs, interact with the statue.
- Interact with the vending machine outside of the bar, and then get the winning bottle by repairing the vending machine in Pomegranate street. Choose the car to get extra travel energy. Can be done on day 2.
- Lukes fight on day 4 can be skipped if you catch him talking to gang members outside the police station on day 2.
- On day 3, get to the incinerator early by talking to Lukes at the police station about Sandra’s store burning down and going to the hospital morgue to check the corpse. Go into the hole for some nice loot. You can use this as a shortcut into the hospital on a later day when it’s locked by travel time.
- On day 3 or 4, play the slot machine in the Casino until something weird happens.
