Welcome to this guide on all the unique and rare items in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. In this guide, we will cover each item’s unique properties compared to the original version, its location(s), and the author’s personal thoughts on the item. Keep in mind that rare weapons will only have location and personal thoughts sections, while unique items will only have a location. Additionally, some items may have a quest tied to them, which we will mention along with its reward. Let’s dive in and discover all the special items that can be found in STALKER SoC.
Introduction to Unique Items
First of all every integrated thing on unique weapons cannot be removed, for example integrated scopes cannot be removed, integrated silencers cannot be removed, and integrated underbarrel grenade launchers cannot be removed. It should be noted the Sniper VLA is unique, it does not come with an integrated scope, instead a scope can be installed and removed as you wish. Non-integrated things can be removed freely.
One important benefit to unique weapons is increased durability, most unique weapons have at least double the durability as its non-unique counterpart. Most unique weapons can be used throughout the whole game without replacing it due to the better durability. Only 3 unique weapons have the same durability as their non-unique counterparts, the Big Ben, Fast-Shooting AKm 74/2, and the Sniper Obokan. The Noiseless Kora weirdly enough has LESS durability[stalker.fandom.com] than a standard Kora-919
It should also be noted that any bad side effects to equipping one of the above is not applied to a weapon when it is integrated. For example silencers will decrease weapon damage by 20%, accuracy by 25% and bullet velocity by 20%. This makes silencers quite terrible normally but a weapon with an integrated silencer, (for example the AKM 74/2U Special) will NOT have the damage, accuracy, and bullet velocity decrease. This also applies to weapon weights, a Storming Obokan and a normal Obokan have the same weight, this makes it more beneficial to use the unique version than the normal version with a grenade launcher attached.
As far as I know unique armor has none of these advantages. The armor MAY have the increased durability that the weapons have but I cannot 100% confirm this.
Now on to the actual list:
Rare, Non-Unique Weapons
The RPG-7u is found in a few locations early on, the first is found on the third floor of the building above X-18, right next to a corpse. Another is found in X-18 next to the pseudogiant (it may be thrown somewhere else during the fight so search the entire room if you want it) another can be found in the Wild Territory on a mercenary, on a platform just north of the helicopter crash. The final RPG that can be found before Pripyat is in the Red Forest, it is carried by a monolithian that can be encountered by following the main path. They are found in the north-east, at the turn of the road. More can be found on various monolithians in Pripyat and the CNPP.
The RPG-7u is not very good, I would not even touch these if I were you, they weigh way too much, ammo is incredibly rare, and they are extremely situational. Not worth it at all.
BULLDOG 6 (2)
The Bulldog 6 is found in two locations, it can be found in the bloodsucker village in the Army Warehouses, a house near the middle of the village will have a basement, the Bulldog will be found in the basement. The second location is in the Freedom armory, you can use a chair to get over the guard, you can use a barrel to anonymously kill the guard, or you can just work with Skull to take down the Freedom base, this Bulldog is found in a blue box in the armory. It is the target of a quest given by General Voronin[stalker.fandom.com], the reward being a PSZ-9Md Universal Protection suit, a pretty good anomalous protection suit.
The Bulldog is a better RPG, while also not amazing due to its weight, the Bulldog uses VOG grenades as ammo which is much easier to obtain. The Bulldog also has an incredibly powerful glitch associated with it. Pretty cool!
GAUSS GUN (Numerous)
The Gauss rifle is found on the corpses of numerous monolithians in Pripyat and the CNPP. Throughout Pripyat and the CNPP exterior you will find many of these foes although all of them will snipe you from a height, this means you need to get a little lucky and have the rifle drop off the buildings in order to obtain it. The first instance where it can 100% be obtained is the CNPP interior, the first monolithian you run into will have one.
But the easiest way to obtain this gun is by going to the south-western stead in the Dark Valley and pay just 800 roubles for it, a fantastic deal, quite overpowered too!
The Gauss rifle is amazing, use it, it’s really good.
Fort-15 (1)
The Fort-15 is carried by the military leader Major Kuznetsov, he is located in the Cordon, leading the soldiers at the railroad bridge. He may be a challenge for new stalkers.
I personally like this gun a lot primarily because I like Forts a lot, despite that it is not fantastic, it’s a pistol, pistols aren’t exactly great in this game. I still prefer it over the Walker due to it using 9×18 ammo instead of 9×19 and having more durability.
Akm 74/2U Special (1)
The AKM 74/2U Special is carried by Bes in the Garbage, at the concentration camp to the south, he has to be killed in order to obtain it. You may be locked out of this weapon as Bes will only spawn the first time you enter the Garbage, therefore you must kill him before leaving the Garbage for the first time.
This is a pretty good gun, at least until the Agroprom Underground, I would say it’s on the same level as a standard AKM 74/2, the earliest good gun you can get in the game. (besides the Tunder 5.45 of course)
Viper 5 9×18 (1)
This gun is found on the corpse of a stalker in the Garbage, at the end of the anomalous tunnel to the west of Seriy and the train hangar. There are a few gravitational anomalies in the tunnel so be careful.
Not a great gun. Why? Because it’s a Viper, just use an AKM 74/2U or an AKM 74/2. If you have neither of these I guess you can use this but as soon as you get one you can throw this away.
Noiseless Viper (1)
This gun is carried by Vampire, a loner usually found in the Dark Valley at the southern stead. Vampire is the target of an assassination quest given by Barkeep[stalker.fandom.com], the reward is a fireball artefact which isn’t exactly rare but I guess it’s a fine reward?
You’ll probably get this gun after Agroprom, you have better weapons, don’t use this.
Walker 9×18 (1)
You may also be locked out of this gun because it is carried by Mole, the stalker you must save in the main questline. He is found in Agroprom at the north-eastern complex and will despawn once you enter the Agroprom underground.
Pretty good, just a standard Walker with an easier-to-obtain ammunition type.
Fast-Shooting Akm 74/2 (1)
This gun is located in Strelok’s stash, down in the Agroprom underground. This location will be visited in the main questline so it’s not exactly hard to miss.
A pretty good gun, well worth it unless you quickly obtain a better gun early, (Vintorez, Obokan, Tunder 5.45, etc) you should probably use this at some point in your playthrough, it is quite amazing early on.
Martha (1)
This pistol is carried by the Dutyer you rescue in the Dark Valley, the one you save just to the west of X-18 and south of the Bandit HQ, help his friend ambush the two bandits alongside him then kill him for the gun. While you can’t technically get locked out of this weapon it may be difficult to find this dutyer after saving him, especially since his name is random. If you really need to find him though I have seen him most times at the Duty barrier between the Garbage and Rostok.
This pistol is amazing. Somehow this thing deals more damage than a Black Kite, uses a more common caliber, (9×19) and has 15 round magazines. This gun is genuinely amazing, the HUGE problem with it is its durability. This thing has a durability of 770 shots, the lowest durability of a weapon in the entire game. For reference the PMm has over 4x the durability of this gun. If you’re gonna use this gun make sure to use the weapon repair glitch every once in a while or this gun will jam quite often.
Sniper Obokan (1)
This weapon is carried by a loner called Oleg “Fiend” Gusarov, he is usually found in the Garbage where Bes is, I have also seen him at the southern stead in the Dark Valley, Rostok, and the north-eastern complex in Agroprom. He is also the target of an assassination quest given by Sidorovich[stalker.fandom.com], the reward is a mica artefact which is quite worth it.
Pretty cool I guess, the PSO-1 can’t be taken off this version of the gun and I tend to put on/take off the scope depending on range so I would argue a standard Obokan is better but if you always use scopes then this is certainly better.
Storming Obokan (1)
This weapon is carried by a bandit called Friar, I usually find him in the Agroprom underground after retrieving the military documents for Barkeep, despite this I believe he can also be found at the Bandit HQ in the Dark Valley. You can also turn in this weapon to Brome[stalker.fandom.com] in exchange for a slug artefact, a pretty good artefact early on, but I would argue the gun is better than the artefact, despite this you can use a glitch to get the weapon back after giving it to Brome.
Despite the fact that I always forget this, you CANNOT attach an underbarrel grenade launcher to a standard Obokan. So yeah, this gun is great if you love Obokans and if you love grenade launchers, of course I love both so I’d say this gun is amazing! Oh and this gun has over 3x the durability as a normal Obokan, 33,334 shots to be precise! This gun is amazing, use it if you find it!
Threaded SPSA-14 (1)
This weapon is carried by a bandit called Poker, I usually find Poker in two locations: the Agroprom underground after giving the Agroprom military documents to Barkeep, and at the Bandit HQ in the Dark Valley. Poker is apparently the target of a quest given by Voronin[stalker.fandom.com] although I have never completed this quest because Poker is almost always killed before X-16.
I am not a fan of the SPSA-14 in general so I personally don’t like this, maybe I need to try it out some more but the Chaser just seems better, I could be wrong though, maybe this actually is a good gun.
“Tunder” 5.45 (2)
This weapon can be obtained two ways, it’s carried by a Dutyer called Barin, usually he is found in Rostok but I have found him in the Dark Valley and the Army Warehouses, there is a much easier way to obtain this weapon though. The gun can be found very early, even before leaving the Cordon, if you free Nimble and give his flashdrive to Sidorovich it may appear in his inventory, you can try saving and reloading to reset his inventory if it doesn’t appear. It costs 20K roubles so it won’t be cheap but it’s worth it. It should be noted that YOU SHOULD NOT retrieve the jellyfish reward Wolf gives you after saving Nimble, if you do so it will change Sidorovich’s inventory and make it impossible to obtain this way (until after X-18 I hear, I have yet to confirm this though) so do not speak to Wolf after saving Nimble.
This is an incredible weapon, it may not be insanely accurate but it’s better than pretty much everything until the Army Warehouses, if you get this from Sid in the Cordon for 20K you will have a very easy playthrough until the Warehouses. Oh and this thing has a durability of 20K shots, more than enough for the entire playthrough!
Noiseless Kora (1)
This weapon is carried by a Loner called Sparrow, he is typically found wandering Rostok so it may be hard to kill him. Sparrow is also the target of an assassination quest given by Barkeep[stalker.fandom.com], the reward is a moonlight artefact so you’ll definitely want to accept the quest before taking Sparrow out.
This unique variant of the Kora-919 is not very good, it is suppressed but weirdly enough it has almost 2,000 less durability than a normal Kora. (which has 5,000 durability) I would not use this gun unless you like Koras and need a suppressed gun, I never need either so I would not recommend it.
Big Ben (1)
This weapon can be found in a container next to the corpse of Gordon Freeman in the anomalous tunnel just south of the destroyed helicopter in the Wild Territory. Watch out, there are many electrical anomalies there.
This thing… it’s great. The ammo is heavy but it’s probably the best pistol in the game, it is genuinely powerful and has a surprisingly accurate first shot. Wanna use a pistol but they all feel weak? Use this!
Balance IL 86 (1)
This weapon is carried by a Loner called Scarecrow, I have only ever found him in the Army Warehouses around the campfire north-west of the Freedom base. On a recent playthrough I HAVE found him dead in the Wild Territory post X-16.Scarecrow is also the target of an assassination quest given by Lukash[stalker.fandom.com], the reward is a spring artefact which may very well be worth it.
The IL 86 is not a very good gun, because of that I never used this. I guess it’s better than a standard IL but come on, this is found in the Army Warehouses, get a GP or a VLA or something.
Lightened IL 86 (1)
This weapon is carried by a Loner called Master, I have only ever found him in the Army Warehouses around the campfire north-west of the Freedom base. Master is also the target of an assassination quest given by Snitch[stalker.fandom.com], the reward is a mama’s beads artefact, do the quest, the artefact is even better than the gun.
The IL 86 is not a very good gun, because of that I never used this. I guess it’s better than a standard IL but come on, this is found in the Army Warehouses, get a GP or a VLA or something.
Combat Chaser (2)
This unique shotgun is found in two places, the best place to get one is by killing Father Diodor, he carries one of these and can always be found on a hill overlooking the campfire that is just north-west of the Freedom base, (the one where the Wolf campfire anomaly is) he is also a target of an assassination quest given by Sidorovich[stalker.fandom.com], the reward is a kolobok artefact which I guess is okay. The other way to obtain this is by looting a Wild Territory stash, the “Secret Stash of the Lucky One,” the stash can only be found from corpses of expert loners in the Wild Territory[stalker.fandom.com].
A pretty good shotgun, I don’t notice a huge difference compared to the normal Chaser but I tend to replace the standard version with this whenever possible.
Sniper SGI (2)
This unique SGi is carried by two Freedomers, Twig and Leshiy, both of which are found guarding the entrance to the Freedom base in the Army Warehouses. Twig is the target of an assassination quest given by Colonel Petrenko[stalker.fandom.com], the reward is a PSZ-9Md Universal Protection suit, a pretty good anomalous protection suit. (which is also quite good against bullets)
At this point in the game the Sniper SGI isn’t great but still, I love SGIs, this is a scoped version and the normal SGI can’t use scopes so I’d say this is a pretty good gun.
Sniper TRs 301 (1)
This weapon is found in the Army Warehouses, at the north-western Mercenary encampment. It is the target of a quest given by General Voronin[stalker.fandom.com], the reward is a Vintar BC which is a fan favorite although I don’t care too much for the gun.
Never used this gun to be honest, I have no authority to give an opinion on this.
Sniper VLA (1)
This weapon is rewarded to you by completing a quest for General Voronin, “Purge the Freedomers[stalker.fandom.com],” you may need to do some other quests for him to get this quest though. Upon completion Voronin gives this amazing, unique weapon.
My favorite endgame gun, the standard VLA is amazing but this version allows the use of a scope! If you side with Duty, use this, you won’t regret it! This version of the gun also has 4x the durability of the normal VLA, even if you aren’t gonna use a scope you’ll want to use this over the original!
Leather Jacket (2)
This armor can be found in the attic of the southern military outpost in the Cordon, you can enter it by doing parkour to the south-east, break open all the crates in the attic and drop down into the quarters, these unique jackets should be on the ground.
Don’t use this lol.
Mail Jacket (1)
This unique item is found in the tunnel where a pseudodog can be found, just east of the carpark where you save Nimble! Speaking of Nimble he will give you a quest to obtain this item[stalker.fandom.com]! The reward is a stone flower artefact, decent early on I guess. Keep in mind you CAN be locked out of this item as it will be unobtainable after X-18 because the tunnel will serve as a transition to the Dark Valley and you cannot get past the transition to pick it up.
Pretty good unless you get the Rookie Village Merc Suit.
Skinner Anomaly (1)
Can be found in a stash “Gas Pipe” in the Cordon, it can be found by looting Military Stalkers in the Cordon.
I guess it can be good early or if you need healing while not in combat, not as good as the vast majority of armors in the game though.
Tourist Suit (1)
This suit is rewarded to the player by completing the Sidorovich quest “Find the Night Star Artefact[stalker.fandom.com],” a jellyfish, stone flower, and meat chunk are also needed in order to get this quest.
I love this suit, it’s great if you are a hoarder!
Reinforced Suit (1)
Can be found in a stash “Chest in the Crane” in the Wild Territory, it can be found by looting veteran Mercenaries. The English Stalker Wiki says it can also be found in the “Grizzly’s Things” stash, this is incorrect, only a normal Merc Suit is found in there.
This is found in the Wild Territory, just get the Stalker Suit found at the mercenary outpost just west of the transition to Rostok.
Healing Beril (1)
This item can be found on a corpse of a Military Stalker in the complex above X-16 in Yantar. This is also the target of a quest given by Lukash[stalker.fandom.com], the reward is a Guardian of Freedom suit.
I don’t care much for the Berill in general so I wouldn’t say it’s great.
Hunter PSZ-9d (1)
Can be found in a stash “Supplies in the Bunker” in Rostok, it can be found by looting Veteran Loners. According to the Russian Stalker Wiki[stalker.fandom.com] it is just found by looting Veteran Loners but the English Stalker Wiki[stalker.fandom.com] seems to say it is looted off Veteran Loners IN ROSTOK, the Russian wiki tends to be better but considering how rare this armor is the English wiki may be correct.
This is the only unique item in the game I have never found, it doesn’t seem bad though if you are siding with Duty.
Ghost Suit (1)
This suit is found on the corpse of Ghost at the end of X-16. It is also the target of a quest given by Sakharov[stalker.fandom.com], the reward is a SSP-99M Suit, I would argue it’s a pretty good trade unless you really like Stalker Suits for some reason.
If you’re still using Stalker Suits at this point in the game use it, why not?
Kombez Freedom M2 (1)
This suit is located in the Freedom armory in the Army Warehouses, you can use a chair to get over the guard, you can use a barrel to anonymously kill the guard, or you can just work with Skull to take down the Freedom base, the M2 is found in a blue box in the armory.
Pretty good if you like the Wind of Freedom suit, I would argue it is not a sufficient endgame armor though.
Exoskeleton PNB-4UZ (1)
Can be found in a stash “Fang’s Goodies” in Pripyat, it can be found by looting any Loners in Yantar. The easiest way to get it is off the body of a loner in the tunnel after X-16, you can save beforehand and reload the save until the body gives you this stash.
If you like Exoskeletons then you’ll love this suit!
“bread” (3)
“guitar” (1)
“hand_radio” (1)
Binoculars (3)
Knife (8)
Harmonica (N/A)
