Welcome to our guide on unlocking the characters and abilities from the Seekers of the Storm DLC in Risk of Rain 2. We will provide you with easy steps to unlock these characters and learn about their unique abilities.
Seeker (Unlock Character)
Seeker (Unlock Ability)
In order to unlock it, you’ll have to hit three airborne enemies with the third shot of your primary fire
This unlockable is quite easy since your third shot is an AoE
An easy way to do this is using the “Artifact of Kin” and “Artifact of Swarms”
Why those artifacts?
-Artifact of Kin: Having only one type of enemy will be very useful if you manage to get lucky and have a map full of wisps like here:
-Artifact of Swarms: Double the wisps, double the rapidity to get three wisps close to each other
To do this, shoot your first 2 shots at nothing, then aim your third shot at a group of wisps, easy!
Chef (Unlock Character)
Then, you’ll have to grab yourself a green portal available from either a teleporter or the newly added altars and go to the area called “Reformed Altar”
Once there, you’ll have to go to this specific cavern in the map:
Once in, you’ll find yourself with a deactivated Chef and 3 item pedestals
If you haven’t guessed, you’ll have to put 3 specific items on these pedestals, these items being the “Cautious Slug”, the “Bison Steak” and the “Infusion”, this is where the Shrine of Command comes in handy so you can get the items without having to rely on RNG
Once you put the items in, the Chef from Risk of Rain 1 is yours!
Chef (Unlock Ability)
In order to unlock it, you’ll have to oil and afterwards burn 10 bisons, then grab your passive “recipe” from their burnt corpse
An easy and guaranteed way to do this is to go to the stage 3 map called “Rallypoint Delta”
Bisons are guaranteed to spawn on this map, so find 10 of them and execute your delicious combo:
Oil → Sear → Pickup
Secret Character (Unlock Character)
To unlock the False Son, you’ll have to go through a series of green colored portals that can either be spawned from the teleporter or the newly added altars:
You’ll also need the “Halcyon Seed”, which is obtainable in the yellow portals that can be found at the altars
Once you defeat Aurelionite, pick up his Halcyon Seed and go through the green portal
After travelling through the green and yellow portals, you’ll arrive in this area:
Once there, you’ll have to climb a quite difficult hill with constant thunderstorms trying to stop you from reaching the top
(you can interact with those yellow statues to gain a shield for more safety)
((you also get a guaranteed white item if you destroy all of the shrines before reaching the halfway point))
Finally, climb a bit further and reach the final boss of the DLC, the False Son in boss form
He has three phases, so be wary of its attacks
On phase 3, he disables all your abilities, including your primary fire so be careful!
In order to regain your abilities, you’ll have to hit those same yellow statues from before
Once defeated with the Halcyon Seed in your inventory, you’ll unlock the “False Son” character
You’ll also unlock the new equipment, the “Seed of Life”
In short, if you die while carrying the Seed of Life, you’ll be granted another chance to thrive, unfortunately, upon death, the Seed of Life will be consummed and will be replaced with (more info needed) which upon activation, will spawn a few healing orbs on the ground where you aimed at
Secret Character (Unlock Ability)
In order to unlock it, you’ll have to kill 15 enemies in a single use of the ability
Unfortunately, The False Son’s laser damage is pretty underwhelming, however, the main gimmick is that the more bonus health you have with items like “Bison Steak” or “Infusion”, the longer the laser will last, so you’ll use that to your advantage
To make this process as quick, safe, and fun as possible, you’ll have to go with multiple artifacts before you start the game
You’ll need the Artifact of Command, the Artifact of Honor, the Artifact of Sacrifice and the Artifact of Swarms
Why those artifacts?
-Artifact of Command: Choosing the specific items for a very specific build
-Artifact of Honor: Enemies will spawn in as elites, which are tankier and have a special gimmick compared to their vanilla counterparts, however, there is an item in the game that specialises in killing said elites, more info down below
-Artifact of Sacrifice: If you want to do this quickly, you’ll need a “infinite” supply of items, so having a limited amount of chests per level is not gonna cut it, therefore spawning items from deceased enemies will make the process way faster, and it combos really really well with the last artifact
-Artifact of Swarms: Doubles the enemy spawn, but halves their health in half, so more enemies, more chances for items to drop from vanquishing them and also less health for a faster elimination process
What build??
Why this build???
White tier items:
-Your first item will always be Lens Maker’s Glasses for the extra damage, stack 9 of them for guaranteed crits
-After you have 9 Lens Maker’s Glasses, you can focus on attack speed with Soldier’s Syringue
Green tier items
-First, focus on at least 10 Old Guillotines, with this amount the elite enemies already halved health bar will be halved in half once more for a easier and quicker death
-After acquiring 10 Old Guillotines, you can stack up on Infusions, get as many as you can because like said previously, the more bonus health points you have, the longer the laser will fire
Bonus/Optional items:
–Mocha for even more attack speed as well as movement speed
–Bison Steak is always a plus, even if it’s only 25 bonus health points
–Predatory Instincts for even more attack speed
–Harvester’s Scythe for more survivability
–Berzerker’s Pauldron for even even more attack speed
–Ukulele for chained damage around enemies
–Laser Scope for more devastating crit damage
Here’s what a potential “finished” build could look like:
Now, to actually dive in game and unlock the ability
Enemies will often spawn, in pairs, whenever you roam around the map, with the Artifact of Sacrifice, killing these enemies will have a chance to drop the items you need for the build
So no need to rush to go to a specific stage or anything, just play it slow, wait for enemies to spawn in, get lucky and build your build
Once you are satisfied with both your build, and the duration of your laser with the bonus health points from Infusion and Bison Steak, wait for small, easily killable enemies to spawn in and hang around that spot to make them spawn indefinitely
After some time, more and more enemies will appear, just run around and dodge their attacks to have what you feel like is 15+ enemies
This is the jackpot
Now you can unleash hell and eviscerate any heretics that dare walk the same ground as you and hopefully get 15 enemies in a single usage!
