Welcome to my guide for Starfield and how to fix various bugs for the best vanilla experience possible and stable modding foundation. Every step that I have listed are the steps I personally use to make my game run much more smoother and with less bugs on my PC system.

It is highly recommended for you to also install 7-zip[www.7-zip.org] as most mods and tools use this format for compression when uploaded for download.

Game Version 1.12.36 & Above

Step 1 – Installing SFSE
Step 1 – First you will need to download SFSE HERE[sfse.silverlock.org] Download the latest version usually listed at the top of the page under the download section.
Note: Game updates will have different version numbering always download the latest version! The Version shown was the version used at the time but method still applies.
Once at the site click on the latest build version to download
Step 2 – Once downloaded go into the games directory, the game should be installed at… “Steam\steamapps\common\Starfield“
Once there open the .7z file and extract the contents of the download into the games main directory with a simple drag and drop.
Step 3 – SFSE is now installed.
Step 2 – Installing Mod Organizer 2
To run Mod Organizer 2 you will need the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable you can download it from HERE![learn.microsoft.com]

Step 1 – Download Mod Organizer 2 From Here![github.com]

Once on the site click the top listed version and this link to download
⠀
Step 2 – Once downloaded create a new Mod Organizer 2 folder that is separate from the games installation folder.
⠀
Step 3 – Go into your newly made folder and extract all of the contents inside the “Mod Organizer 2” .7z download file into the newly created folder.

Once extracted into the folder double click on ModOrganizer.exe
⠀
Step 4 – You will be greeted by this window click on the button in the top left corner called “Create New Instance“

Once clicked on you will see this window click on the “Create Portable Instance” button.
⠀
⠀
Once clicked find “Starfield” in the list of games (you should have the game downloaded) once found click on it and press “Next“

Next you will be greeted by this window continue by clicking next, also make sure that “Automatic Archive Invalidation” is selected.

Next you will see this click “Next“.

Then after this screen click on “Finish“.

After doing this Mod Organizer 2 will launch.

Step 5 – After doing this for easy use/access to the tool create a shortcut for you desktop by right clicking on the “ModOrganizer.exe” file and selecting “Create Shortcut“

Next move the shortcut onto your desktop and rename it by right clicking and selecting rename.

Step 6 – Mod Organizer 2 is ready to use with Starfield!

While Running Mod Organizer 2 For the first time you will be greeted by this little window…
Click YES! This will make it easy to download and install mods!
Step 3 – Bug Fixing Mods
The mods in this guide will have two listings essential and optional. Essential is recommended that you install this mod for the best experience and optional is if you wish to install the mod for extra fixes.
They both will be represented by these symbols…
Essential – “🟥”
And
Optional – “🟩”
The mods are also split into two sections ones that require only the Base Game and Mods that require all DLC addons to be installed.
Make sure to read any mods requirements before trying to install all mods information can be found on each mods respective modding pages on the link provided!
Downloading Mods With Mod Organizer From Nexus Mods
Step 1 – Have a mod to download, once you have a mod go to the mods “files” tab and click on it.
Step 2 – Once clicked find the latest version of the mod and click “Mod Manager Download”. Then a small window may pop-up letting you know the mods requirements for the mod to function, if you have all the required files click on “Download”.
Step 3 – A new window will load, if you do not have premium click on the “slow download” button and you download will start. (I sped up the countdown for the GIF you will need to wait 5 seconds)
Step 4 – Once started the download should start to download within your Mod Organizer 2 Install.
Step 5 – Once Downloaded double click the mod in the downloads window
A small window will pop up, click “ok” the mod will be extracted by the mod manager.
Next click the check box next to the mods name to activate said mod.
You have installed the mod.
If you are not sure the mod is installed make sure you launch the game through Mod Organizer 2 and SFSE.
If the mod comes with a plugin file (.esm) check the plugins tab to see if its installed. You will be able to tell if a plugin is activated by a check mark in the box next to the plugins name.

F.A.Q Section
A: The current public test version requires you to have Plugins.txt Enabler[www.nexusmods.com] installed. The Mod Organizer 2 Discord sever has a dev build that removes this requirement That should release soon and Plugins.txt Enabler will no longer be required when that version becomes public.
Download the version “SFPTE-1_3 (SFSE-1_12_30)” and install it with Mod Organizer 2.
A: The Unofficial Starfield Patch – USFP Makes some changes to the game that are not considered bug fixes by many people. Starfield Community Patch (SFCP) just focuses on fixing bugs in the game.
