Map – selection and explanation
(Note: I have not attempted this achievement in other difficulties, but please comment if you were able to do it outside of Medium. I was worried that the AI may not be at the appropriate level of aggression)
The reason I have selected this map is due to the Glaciation mechanic. Upon getting an advantageous position, lure the AI to occupy the building types as shown above. If there are too many towers surrounding a building, the AI will not likely attack that building. Only upgrade your towers once the 3-4 buildings above are occupied:
>>Having the enemy occupy a forge in the top middle of the map will allow them to make aggressive (reckless) plays
>>To ensure maximum coverage by both the ring of frost and your tower’s range , allow the enemy to occupy the 3 villages, ideally at level 4 before capture to reduce waiting time for upgrades.
>>You will use these 2 forges to act as the enemy’s main targets ; the buildings that surround these forges should have high population to prevent the enemy from snowballing and you losing the mission.
Attack Cycles
Preparations:
-allow at least 90 units to be in the bottom right tower
-have 60-80 units ready to be deployed to reclaim the top middle forge, and then vacate it if not in danger
-house at least 60 units in the top right tower to prevent the AI from capturing it
-house at least 50 units in the middle tower to prevent the AI from capturing it
Scenarios:
All 5 buildings are occupied (3 villages and 2 forges) – AVOID this scenario at all costs, while you have sufficient units to sustain an advancement for one of your buildings, I strongly recommend that you reclaim 1-2 forges AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
3v & 1f occupied – this is the most common situation, as the forge on the far right (screenshot below) will likely be in your territory at all times.
3v occupied – at this point, you should empty the middle forge to have 0 population to lure the enemy units out; each wave should net you around 25 kills or more
2v occupied – this is suboptimal as the enemy will likely play too defensively and not send out units. If you choose to attack an enemy village, choose the middle one so that units sent to it are within range of 1 tower at all times.
1v occupied – immediately vacate all units from the top middle forge ; once 1v & 1f are occupied, vacate the middle village and then have the last building reclaimed by the enemy be the top right village
as you can see, sometimes the enemy wave gets frozen which allows your towers to maximize their killing potential
Cycles:
1.) Starting with 3v1f, reclaim the top middle forge and immediately vacate it.
2.) Wait for the enemy to send a wave from their leftmost village, make sure the rightmost forge has 0 units.
3.) Upon the top middle forge going to the enemy, they will send a wave to claim the rightmost unoccupied forge. Response: send 100% of units from your bottom right tower to the forge to defend
4.) ENEMY COUNTERATTACK: there are 2 possible responses:
>>Bottom village will have a wave to go after your unoccupied tower, immediately send 100% of units from the rightmost forge to return to the tower, if needed, use the “Defensive Walls” skill (Q) to maintain occupation of the rightmost forge.
>>Top village will have a wave to go after your unoccupied tower, you can also use “Boost of Swiftness” to reinforce your defenses quicker.
5.) Allow the AI to reclaim the top middle forge.
6.) Rinse and repeat 3-4 hours. This can take longer if you are too aggressive and attack the AI too much. It may also be faster than 3 hours since I was not playing optimally for the first hour as I was discovering the method above.
