Learn how to improve your gaming experience in Team Fortress 2 on a console with this guide on controller binds and sensitivity. This guide was created specifically for those who are familiar with playing on a console, using an Xbox Series controller. Note that this guide does not cover gyro or PlayStation controllers, as there are already comprehensive guides available for those.
Introduction
The layout I’ve made will serve as a baseline with binds and sensitivity to be customized to be more like console or made better overall with the options we have.
It is impossible to get your sensitivity to feel 1:1 like console however.
It is called:
Binds
With auto reload being a thing rebinding your left trigger to reload is not necessary anymore for Soldier, Scout etc freeing up a button for something else.
You can bind multiple actions to the same buttons; an example would be having Y as Taunt but it needs to be held to prevent an accidental press.
Sensitivity
The stick response curve on linear feels similar with the deadzone settings below but this is something I would say you should mess more with.
Using circle I find feels better however cross or square may feel better if you’ve ever sniped on console.
A note on deadzones is that I was unable to recreate the super high sensitivity when the stick was all the way out using the deadzone options, however I did find that outer ring commands and changing the options in camera could be fruitful in attempting to recreating it although I did not mess much with them.
