Welcome to our comprehensive guide for the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Volume 1 Achievement Guide. This guide will walk you through all 56 achievements in the game, providing useful links and resources to help you unlock them all. Get ready to conquer the game and earn all the achievements!
Overview
Note that no achievements are missable! You do not have to follow along this guide while doing a blind play, and you probably shouldn’t, for there are spoilers in here! Any achievement can be done at any time on a savefile in the furthest possible state.
I will often be referencing The Rockman EXE Zone[www.therockmanexezone.com], and you should too, for they are the best knowledge base with genuine true information about this series. A lot of other sites have incorrect info or are not nearly as detailed.
Let’s get into it! Achievement Routine, set! Execute!
Mega Man Battle Network – Progression
Friend of the Environment
Defeat WoodMan in Mega Man Battle Network.
While not technically required for Progression, I’m grouping all of the Navi Fights in this category.
WoodMan can be challenged outside of the Government Complex as Sal’s Navi. He’s Wood Element, so Fire Chips will serve you will here.
Her stand opens up pretty early in the game.
One Down!
Defeat SharkMan in Mega Man Battle Network.
Similarly, SharkMan can be challenged at the Government Complex as Masa’s Navi, later in the story. He’s Aqua Element, so Elec Chips will serve you well. Invis Chips and the like are similarly recommended.
A Ghoulish Welcome
Defeat SkullMan in Mega Man Battle Network.
This fight is actually required for progression, as you need /Miyu later. She’s in the Antique Block of Dentown, up-right from the middle block.
Rivalry Showdown
Defeat ProtoMan in Mega Man Battle Network.
This fight is also story-required, happening right after the ElecMan battle in the Power Plant.
If you’re having trouble, try upping your Attack Stat to 4 or 5 and your Charge Stat to atleast 2, and then just stand in place and let him eat a charge shot every time he tries to attack.
The First of Many Victories
Complete Mega Man Battle Network.
Straightforward enough. If you’re having trouble figuring out where to go during any part of the story, GameFAQs probably has you covered.
Mega Man Battle Network – Sidequests and Secrets
With a Little Help From My Friends
Acquire all addresses in Mega Man Battle Network.
There are 8 of these in total: @Dex, @Mayl, @Yai, @Dad, @Sal, @Masa, @Miyu and @WWW
All of them can be found in Blue Mystery Data on the respective homepage. (@WWW is given after defeating BombMan)
To set the shortcut, enter the respective warp with the key item in hand from the internet.
Who Quizzes the Quiz Master?
Correctly answer all of the Quiz Master’s questions in Mega Man Battle Network.
There are two Quiz NPCs in total.
The first one is located in the DenTown Summer School, bottom-left block, appearing at the start of the BombMan scenario.
He has 5 questions. Questions are always the same, so you can keep trying and memorize as needed.
The second one is located in the bottom floor of the Power Plant and has 10 questions. He appears after the start of the final scenario. He has 10 questions. Get them right and earn a Ratton3 M and the achievement.
Reality Bites
Find and return a lost set of dentures in Mega Man Battle Network.
This is a sidequest in ACDC Town that opens up during the IceMan scenario. Talk to the old man at the bottom of the town, then find his dentures in a tree in the park. Return them for a Recov80 G and an achievement!
A Disgusting Disaster
Repair a defunct vending machine in Mega Man Battle Network.
This is a sidequest in the Government Complex, entry hall.
Starting during the ColorMan scenario, talk to the NPC in front of the vending machine, and he’ll complain that his cola is stuck.
Jack into the vending machine and talk to the evil Navi in the middle for a battle vs. two HardHeads and a Froshell. Once you’ve defeated them, you get 2000z.
Jack out and talk to the man to receive a Repair G and your achievement!
Avoiding Bankruptcy
Find money that was stolen from a bank account in Mega Man Battle Network.
This sidequest opens up during the ElecMan scenario. Talk to the NPC in the top-right of ACDC town, right of the school entrance. He’ll say something about money being stolen from his bank account, which is located near the metroline of the cyber world.
Jack in at a place of your choosing (ideally Dex’s HP with the warp) and enter Internet 2, then head where you fought StoneMan at the start of the game. There’ll be a new evil Navi there. Fight him and beat him to recover the money. Jack out and the NPC will reward you with 10000z and an achievement!
Collection Complete
Acquire all chips (including Download Chips) in Mega Man Battle Network.
This is possibly the hardest achievement in this collection. You have to collect all 175 BattleChips plus the Download Bass Chip in MMBN1 for this.
To get you started, let me link you some resources.
TeamBN Speedrun Notes[docs.google.com]
There’s many tabs with varying information here, as well as links with guides and many other resources such as specific RNG Manips, which you’ll most likely need to finish up your collection.
You should also find these handy:
TREZ BattleChip Locations[www.therockmanexezone.com]
TREZ Virus Locations[www.therockmanexezone.com]
Hopefully you should be able to scout out your missing chips with this. If you’re missing some chips you could always try your luck on the 10 Chip Trader, as it’s savescummable in BN1. And if you’re having trouble getting the boss chips there’s always BusterMAX Mode. Good luck!
Mega Man Battle Network 2 – Progression
Plenty of Footage!
Defeat ToadMan in Mega Man Battle Network 2.
ToadMan is optional, but can be fought at many stages in the game, the earliest being outside the Center in Marine Harbor, as Ribitta’s Navi. He can be pretty tricky but supposedly he dislikes AntiElec. Or Prisms and seed-shaped objects.
Friends in Low Places
Defeat ThunderMan in Mega Man Battle Network 2.
Self-Explanatory. Required story fight, this is unmissable.
The Power of Money
Defeat SnakeMan in Mega Man Battle Network 2.
Easy progression achievement in Netopia. You get your chips back here. But you do lose your chance at 30 Guard *. Oh, and did you ever get your money back? Or the missable mail from mom?
Not Half Bad!
Defeat GateMan in Mega Man Battle Network 2.
GateMan is Mr. Famous’ Navi. He can be challenged after returning from the airplane trip in the Marine Harbor Center. He’s optional, but you get an HPMem and Folder2 from him! And this achievement!
True Friends
Complete Mega Man Battle Network 2.
Here we are, Game 2 of the saga done. Congratulations! If you can’t beat Gospel, he also dislikes Prisms and TreeBombs. Or BusterMAX for that matter.
Mega Man Battle Network 2 – Sidequests and Secrets
Fall of the Phishers
Complete the “Paying in advance” Request in Mega Man Battle Network 2.
This is one of the earliest requests available. To beat it, jack into Yai’s telephone and defeat the Navi in the bottom corner. Beware, he’s dangerous!
Beating him nets you 10000z and the GateKeyB Key Item!
Silver Love
Complete the “Need a Cupid” Request in Mega Man Battle Network 2.
Another early request. Talk to the old man NPC in Okuden, the very first screen. You’ll have to go back between him and an elderly lady in Marine Harbor a couple times to deliver messages. But you’ll get a good amount of money for doing so!
Too Advanced
Complete the “Help research” Request in Mega Man Battle Network 2.
This request becomes available pretty late in the story, during the FreezeMan scenario. Jack into Ribitta’s News Van and talk to the Navi there to initiate a gauntlet of battles. If you can survive them, you’ll get a PowerUP! Nifty!
Dealing with Small Fries
Complete the “Please help” Request in Mega Man Battle Network 2.
This becomes available at the same time as “Help research”. You will have to travel to Netopia and find an NPC on the hotel street, who’ll instruct you on what to do. Head to Netopia Square and take out the four evil Navis in battles. They’re pretty hard, beware! If you can prevail, you get a StepSwrd M and this achievement!
Stealing’s Wrong…Right?
Complete the “Return My Gem” Request in Mega Man Battle Network 2.
This request becomes available in the last chapter of the game. Travel to Netopia’s jewelry store and talk to the lady on the right to start it. Then, search out the thieves one by one. One of them hides in the hotel room, one on the slope by the castle entrance, one in the castle’s highest point.
Beat them all and return the gems for a GoldFist Z and your final sidequest achievement (for now)!
Longstanding Curse
Correctly answer all of the Quiz King’s questions in Mega Man Battle Network 2.
Quiz battles return! (Get used to that)
The first NPC awaits at the airport, Electopia side. You know, where Mr. Match and HeatMan are later. He has 5 questions and will give you a Cannon * for answering them!
The second NPC is in the banquet room in Netopia Castle, starting FreezeMan’s scenario. He has 10 questions and will give you the GateKeyC and an HPMemory for answering them!
The final NPC is in the castle’s darkest chamber and only appears at the end of the game. He has 15 questions and gives you a RegUp3.
Cream of the Crop
Obtain the S-License in Mega Man Battle Network 2.
The S-License exam can be taken as soon as you have the A-License, and have completed the Request Board’s first 9 requests from the top. The exam is a simple 10-battle gauntlet.
Rumor has it there are even further licenses to get…
Mega Man Battle Network 3 – Progression
Iron Will
Defeat MetalMan in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
Surprisingly, this is an entirely optional boss when you pass by Tamako’s the first time. However, you are guaranteed to fight MetalMan in the Hades Isle Tournament, which makes this unmissable if you’ve beaten the story.
Strike!
Defeat BowlMan in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
If you know a little about BN3, you might know that the Blue Version has BowlMan and the White Version has MistMan. However! The achievements for both can technically be earned on either versions, as you fight the other Navi’s Omega form deep into the postgame. If you’re only playing for the achievements this is not recommended, though, as you have to beat BN3 White in its entirety too, which comes with a free serving of MistMan required for Story Progression.
Revealing the Truth
Defeat MistMan in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
Note the lack of specifying of version in the description. The developers definitely knew that some people would get both achievements by 100%ing just one version.
Blitzkrieg Rock
Defeat Punk in Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue.
In this case however, we do have a completely version-exclusive achievement. In BN3 Blue, Mr. Famous appears in the Yoka Zoo, ready to fight you with Punk. In BN3 White, his apprentice is there, giving out vaguely useful advice. What a downgrade!
By the way, Punk hates obstacle chips and holes.
Side By Side
Complete Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue.
Ah, the end of this collection. Congrats on making it this far, hopefully you’re hooked for Volume 2!
And yes, as mentioned before, beating both versions is necessary for achievements. Hope you don’t mind. The differences in BN3 are sadly minimal.
Great Awakening
Complete Mega Man Battle Network 3 White.
Why, congratulations! Alpha is a bit of a menace but he hates WoodStyle and Z-P.A.s like Z-Step and Z-YoYo. But don’t throw away your savefile for either version yet, we’ll need them for one more thing.
Mega Man Battle Network 3 – Sidequests and Secrets
ACDC Town’s Human Encyclopedia
Correctly answer all of the Quiz King’s questions in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
Quizzes!
The first NPC awaits in the Ura Inn Hallway mid-way through the game. He has 5 questions and will present a RegUp3 to you if you answer them.
The second NPC awaits very close by, in the back of Ura Inn behind the bath, later in the game. He has 10 questions and rewards you with an HPMemory.
The third NPC is a girl in 3F of the Hospital, at the end of the game. She has 15 questions for you and lets you have a Barr200 E Chip as a reward.
The final NPC is an old man on top of Hades Isle, only in the post-game. He has a whopping 20 questions for you and should you prevail, a Navi+40 * and this achievement will be yours!
Bringing Home the Zenny!
Complete the “Legendary Tomes” Request in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
All of BN3’s request achievement are related to requests unlocked pretty late in the game.
Legendary Tomes becomes available in the final chapter. Talk to the ghost Navi on Hades Isle Net to start it. Then, look for the tomes in the Undernet:
– One is in Undernet 6, from a HeelNavi who wants to fight
– One is in Under Square, from a HeelNavi who wants money
– One is in Under 3, from a HeelNavi who wants a Magnum1 A. You can obtain them with Ranks 5 and above from Bashers on WWW Island, in WWW Comp 4. Use OilBody to find them if you need to!
Before you turn in all the tomes, you should do the achievement name justice and look at your key items menu. Putting the clues together, Sky above Land above Sea, you can make out the word CLAY. So head into the principal’s office and talk to the clay statue for a whopping 300,000z!
Afterwards, turn in the tomes with the ghost Navi to finish the request and earn your achievement.
Ready or Not!
Complete the “Hide and seek!” Request in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
This is probably the easiest late game request. Talk to the orange shirt kid outside Yoka Zoo and find all of his friends’ Navis in Zoo Comps. There’s 4 Navis, one in each Comp.
Jack out and talk to OSG to receive a GutImpct H.
Supposedly, if you have the virus breeder unlocked, there’s something else to find in Zoo Comp 4, represented on the achievement icon…
Charity Case
Complete the “Give your support!” Request in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
This request is done on Hades Isle. There’s a pretty long and hard battle gauntlet upon talking to the scientist in the main room. Beating it will net you a nice 30 BugFrags though!
A Challenge from the Beyond
Complete the “Help with a will” Request in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
This is the longest and hardest request in the game. You will start by talking to the little girl in the hallway of the school, near your class. You’ll go to various locations one by one, and fight strong Omega viruses while doing so.
The locations are, in order:
ACDC 3, Cybersquirrel
Yoka Inn, Samurai Armor
Yoka 1, Water Heater
Hades Isle, Gargoyle Statue
Undernet 4, Top of Spire
The last location requires you to have beaten BeastMan Beta. Note that if you’ve beaten him at some point before obtaining Rank 8 in Under Ranking as part of the story, the cube will not open. This is because the devs did not want the cube to open simply because you beat that forced battle in the story, so it unsets the flag no matter what.
BeastMan Beta can be found in the Doghouse with SneakRun enabled, if you’ve beaten BeastMan Alpha. He hides in SciLab Area 1 in a dead end on the lower level.
Deft Hands
Complete the CyberSimon Says minigame in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
There are three variations of this minigame, where you get 60 seconds to perform 60, 90 and 99 inputs respectively. The first is located in Yoka Square, the second in Beach Square, the third in Under Square. For the achievement, any will do, so Yoka Square is recommended.
The rewards get a lot better as you go, though so does the difficulty. 60 inputs grant you a singular BugFrag, 90 give you 5, while 99 give you 30!
Breeder in the Making
Feed a virus for the first time in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
At a late point in the story, upon talking to a scientist NPC in the computer room of SciLab, you’ll unlock the ability to tame viruses for the Virus Breeder. It’s a lot more simple than it sounds.
Upon walking to specific pre-determined spots in the internet, a fight against all three stages of a virus type will trigger. Beat it and the viruses will be in the breeder for you to play with. Plus, talking to the scientist again will give you their chip. You can use it to summon the viruses in battle, with it cycling through the different stages. You can feed them up to 100 BugFrags to increase their respective strength, and any first feed will give you this achievement.
If you can’t find the viruses, all of their locations are listed here[shrines.rpgclassics.com].
Virus Aficionado
Acquire an SP Virus in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
Once you’ve fed a virus family 100 total BugFrags, they’ll ask you to seek out their leader and battle them to also add to the rotation. Much like before, they’re in specific spots, this time in minor comps. You can use the same link from above to find them. The first you get will give you this achievement.
A Real Knee-Slapper!
Activate MegaMan’s Humor for the first time in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
Humor is a NaviCust Program obtained from the “Help with rehab” request. You have to go to the Hospital TV and fight a gauntlet of Omega viruses to receive it. Afterwards, just put it into the NaviCust and then press L in the overworld and instead of advice from MegaMan you’ll get a good joke.
Alternatively, for the impatient ones with ModTools from Beach Street, whispers say that the EX Code SJH1UEKA has the same effect…
Wanna Trade BugFrags?
In Mega Man Battle Network 3, visit the BugFrag trader 20 times.
This is deep postgame. You have to have 140 total Standard Chips and 1 Giga Chip to make it this far.
You will also need the “Hammer” Key Item from Undernet 7, which requires having beaten DrillMan Beta. He’s found in Hades Isle Net after beating his ghost in Undernet 6.
Finally, you’ll need 6 out of 7 possible tamable virus families up to this point. See above for more info.
If you have all that, jack into the secret server room of the Undernet where you get GigFreez in the story and you can enter Secret Area.
Progress along the winding paths and gauntlets, hacking the security systems as you go and beating two new postgame bosses. Finally, when you reach Secret 3, use the first door across the Press paths and you’ll find the BugFrag Trader. Feed it 200 total BugFrags in batches of 10 for this achievement!
The denizens of the Undernet rumor that something happens if you feed it 300…
Mega Man Battle Network 2 & 3 – Style Change Achievements
Folder Boy’s Share
Receive the extra folder from Folder Boy in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
This can actually be done during the main story, while you’re getting an extra folder on Hades Isle. Folder Boy awaits at the top, and will quiz you 10 questions. You’re on a timer in the story, so make sure to stay sharp! He can be found here later as well though, so don’t worry. At any rate, once you’ve won his quiz and get his folder, you get this achievement right along with it!
Now, the reason I’ve put these into their own section is because they’re cross-game, but only BN2 and 3. That said, I would highly recommend doing most of these in BN3 (not least because there are styles exclusive to BN3) because it only takes 100 battles to get a new style if you choose not to level up your current one as opposed to 280. Plus, if you do decide to level it up you get some good NaviCustomizer Programs!
If you don’t know how Style Changes work, after a certain point in the story (Mother Comp 1 in BN2, Bubble Brigade in BN3), you get your first Style Change based on what kinds of chips you’ve used.
At the end of every battle with a results screen, the game tallies what Style you played like the most and gives you a point towards that style. Whichever style you have the most points for when a style change comes about determines what attribute of style you’ll get.
Example: If you’ve been sending a lot of Navi Chips in most battles, you’ll probably get a Team Style.
The game will then ask you if you want to level up your new style. Saying yes lets you keep it to upgrade its buster attack (BN2) / receive Programs (BN3). Saying no makes a new style appear after 100 battles. Of course this also happens if you have leveled up and maxed a style.
On subsequent style changes you can say no to a new style altogether, which resets any points and starts another 100 battle counter with your current style.
You cannot get an attribute of style that you currently have. In BN3, you also cannot get the same element of style you currently have.
STYLE ELEMENT IS UNAFFECTED BY THE ELEMENTS OF CHIPS YOU USE.
IT IS RANDOM AND DETERMINED ON STARTING A NEW GAME / ACCEPTING A NEW STYLE.
If you’re still confused about anything, these TREZ Pages go into a lot of detail:
BN2[www.therockmanexezone.com]
BN3[www.therockmanexezone.com]
Okay, that’s a lot of info. If you’re here for the achievements (which you probably are), just know to accept new styles but not choose to level them up so you can look for new ones right away. I’ll detail next to each achievement what counts towards getting that specific style.
Let’s get started!
Buster Justice!
Use Guts Style in Mega Man Battle Network 2 or Mega Man Battle Network 3.
This style is actually obtained by not using chips. Sending 1 Chip or fewer each turn and using the buster a lot, charge shots or pellets, is a safe way to go here. If you’ve been relying on BusterMAX, you might end up with this one (good too, for the damage DOUBLES).
Check Out These Moves!
Use Custom Style in Mega Man Battle Network 2 or Mega Man Battle Network 3.
Custom Style points are earned by sending 2 or more chips each turn, with more chips increasing the amount of points. The ADD function and forming P.A.s also give points. You may need to send more than just 2-3 chips a turn if you want to outweigh other styles such as Team, depending on the chips you’re sending.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!
Use Team Style in Mega Man Battle Network 2 or Mega Man Battle Network 3.
Like mentioned before, Team Style is obtained by sending Navi Chips. Interestingly, just sending them is enough, you do not need to use them. So you can send a REG’d Navi Chip and fire some pellets with BusterMAX to clear the encounter, and this’ll give you more Team than Guts Points. This avoids you watching a screen dim animation for 100 battles straight.
The Best Offense…
Use Shield Style in Mega Man Battle Network 2 or Mega Man Battle Network 3.
Shield Style is obtained either by using (not just sending) chips such as Guard, CrsShld, Barrier, Aura or Recov. NCPs such as Block, Shield and Reflect also count.
Another interesting tidbit about Shield Style is that it’s one of the “Failsafe Outcome” styles for battle end. Since you could play a battle in such a way that you avoid giving any points to any style, you’ll get a Shield Point for that if you never flinched in the battle. If you did it’s a Guts Style point.
The Good, the Bad, and the Bugly
Use Bug Style in Mega Man Battle Network 3.
Now we’re getting into BN3 specific styles. Bug Style is obtained when you have enough bugs in your NaviCust to earn enough bug points to outweigh anything else. Every turn, depending on how many and how severe bugs you have, points are added.
A good easy option is to bug SneakRun off the Command Line for higher encounter rate and then not earn towards other styles (e.g. Boomer Reg).
Solid Foundation
Use Ground Style in Mega Man Battle Network 3 White.
Remember when I said we would still need both versions?
Yeah, they both have an exclusive Style Change.
Ground Style is earned towards with any cracking chips such as CannBall, Magnum, PanlOut, Geddon and more. You can also use chips that make use of Panel Types such as LavaCan, Spice Stage chips, Snake etc.
Remember, BN3 White only! You can receive the opposite programs through a trade but you can’t get the achievement!
A Shot in the Dark
Use Shadow Style in Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue.
Shadow Style is BN3 Blue Only.
It’s earned towards with…very little. Invis, Mole Chips and Shadow is the whole list. Wow. Make sure not to earn towards other styles too much.
Cross-Game and Collection
Use ‘Em If Ya Got ‘Em
Use a Download Chip for the first time.
In any game, in the MegaMan Tab of the menu, you can access Download Chips, BattleChips that were previously event exclusive or similar. You can get them at any stage of the game. Just press Y on the MegaMan Screen and double-press the chip you’d like!
Mega Battler
Take part in more than 100 battles.
What it says on the tin. You should never not have this if you have everything else.
Thank You for Your Patronage! Huh!
Use the chip trader 30 times.
This counts any 3 Chip Trader across all three games and is cumulative. So you’ll need to part with 90 BattleChips in total (though you always get a new one out).
Anything for a Rare Chip! Huh!
Use the chip trader special 30 times.
Much like the previous, but you have to use the 10 Chip Traders. That makes this one cost 300 chips, minus the 30 you get out again every time. Again, keep in mind it’s cumulative, just pay one a visit with surplus basic chips every once in a while.
Awesome Operator
Earn your first S Rank in an in-game battle.
Busting Rank is made of up of a few components, such as your deletion time, # of movement steps, damage taken and whether you double or triple delete.
The first three lower your Rank, while the latter two up it.
Your rank goes down if
– Your navi flinches* (-1 up to 4 times)
– You move more than twice in a fight (-1, applies to Navi fights too but is not necessary to S Rank those)
– For Virus Battles, if you take more than 5/12/36 seconds (-1 for each threshold)
– For Navi Battles, if you take more than 30/40/50 seconds (-2 for each threshold)
*Yes, not taking damage, flinching. There are various things that give knockback resistance and if hit with those, your rank does not go down.
Your rank goes up if
– You delete two viruses within 10 frames of each other (Double Delete, +2)
– You delete three viruses within 10 frames of each other (Triple Delete, +4)
Your Busting Lv. starts at 9, so if you get a double delete within 5 seconds, without flinching and moving more than twice, that’s an S. Many other combinations are possible. Usually the easiest way to achieve this is a good time-stopping Navi Chip such as GutsMan.
Stop at Nothing to Advance!
Successfully activate a Program Advance.
There’s over 90 Program Advances in the first three games, and starting with the second they are required for title screen completion (though not achievement completion). The game hints at a couple of them. Have you found one yet?
If not, check out the lists for
BN1[www.therockmanexezone.com]
BN2[www.therockmanexezone.com]
BN3[www.therockmanexezone.com]
here.
Netizen (Secret)
Jack in more than 100 times.
You should have this by the time you’ve completed every game. It’d be quite the challenge not to.
Find Something Ya Like?
Use the Music Player to listen to one or more songs from each game.
Outside of any of the games, use the Music Player to listen to a track from MMBN1, 2, 3 and the Collection.
To the Future Together
Complete Mega Man Battle Network 1, 2, and 3.
Complete the main story of all three games in the collection, picking either version of BN3. It is not required to beat both for this, though there are seperate achievements for exactly that.
