This guide is specifically for obtaining all achievements in the game Touhou Hero of Ice Fairy. It is not a no-hit guide, and was last updated on April 15, 2024.
Spoilers & Generic Tips
Try to get the True Ending first before attempting 100% achievements. You will likely get all the grindy achievements done from just playing.
Clear challenge levels to unlock badges and more items to help you survive later fights. Some items are lunatically useful.

Welcome to the Bunny Train

Breaking the Mirage
Clear story stage 6.

The END of adventure
Finishing the adventure of the hero.
Beat Reimu.
These fights are considered challenge stages and are much more difficult than the rest of the game up to this point.
Ruler of the World
Clear the Ruler of the World challenge stage.
Beat Reimu again with the Picture Book fully filled in. To unlock this fight, you have to clear all 6 challenge stages, then Reisen will have something to tell you. After that, equip the Picture Book item and refight Reimu. As mentioned above, this is a challenge stage. To make matter worse, you cannot unequip the Picture Book throughout this entire fight, so 2 item costs are used for an item that does nothing to help you.
I find the Secret Manual (Youmu’s weapon) to be immensely useful for mass destroying Reimu’s Yin-Yang Orbs, trivializing her 3rd and 6th spells.
Not sure why the boss theme has Bad Apple.
Deserted Train
Board the Deserted Train for the first time.
Automatically done after beating challenge stage Reimu.
Waking Up
Ultimately saving everyone.
Beat Doremy.
Another challenge fight, and the final battle of the game. I think she’s easier than challenge Reimu. The first 3 spells are easy to perfect. The 4th can mess you up if you time the laser wrong. Her 5th and 7th spells are chosen from the other 7 bosses:
- Clownpiece’s survival (story and challenge should both be the same)
- Marisa’s ? (I haven’t encountered it yet)
- Youmu’s challenge 3rd spell
- Suika’s story 6th spell
- Nitori’s challenge 5th spell where she becomes a beyblade
- Aya’s challenge 5th spell where she takes your photos
- Reimu’s challenge 4th spell where she kicks the 2 orbs around
Among these, Suika’s spell is probably the most troublesome, purely because you likely encounter it only once because it’s a story spell. Fortunately, the rest are easy. Her 8th spell is the most problematic of all, with super weird timings. Her final spell is easy.
Beating her will unlock the true ending, now you should aim for the rest of the achievements. Unless you’re super good at this game, you likely have gotten the majority of achievements done by now.
Challenge Achievements
Fresh Clothes
Clear the Fresh Clothes challenge stage.
Beat challenge Clownpiece.
Mushroom Hunter
Clear the Mushroom Hunter challenge stage.
Beat challenge Marisa.
Silent Letter
Clear the Silent Letter challenge stage.
Beat challenge Youmu.
Oni Sake
Clear the Oni Sake challenge stage.
Beat challenge Suika.
In Arrears
Clear the In Arrears challenge stage.

Unconventional News
Clear the Unconventional News challenge stage.
Beat challenge Aya.
You do not get achievements for doing pacifist no-hits. Only go for pacifist challenges if you want to do them. Ideally, go for no-hit attempts after getting the true ending so you have a lot of items to test what loadout you prefer. My favorite loadout is Yuyuko’s triangle, Tengu’s Fan, and Rainbow Mushroom.
For strategies, check videos of no-hit runs other players have uploaded. Or devise your own strategies based on your preferred playstyle. There’s no one single true solution.
Getting hit while protected by the Glacier Shield does not count as a hit. Bullets hitting and being nullified by any protective items also don’t count as a hit.
Clown Annihilator
Defeat Clownpiece without taking any damage in the Fresh Clothes challenge stage.
Magician’s Secret
Defeat Marisa without taking any damage in the Mushroom Hunter challenge stage.
Try using Youmu’s weapon. It will slash through both Marisa and all the familiars she summons, trivializing a few of her spells.
Botched Blade
Defeat Youmu without taking any damage in the Silent Letter challenge stage.
A Solitary Drink
Defeat Suika without taking any damage in the Oni Sake challenge stage.
Conflict Settled
Defeat Nitori without taking any damage in the In Arrears challenge stage.
Newspaper Review
Defeat Aya without taking any damage in the Unconventional News challenge stage.
How the Mighty Fall
Defeat the Nightmare Miko without taking any damage in the Ruler of the World challenge stage.
Lucid Dream
Defeat Doremy without taking any damage.
Grindy Achievements
I Firm Determination
Take damage 100 times.
II Indomitable Spirit
Take damage 200 times.
III Dig In Your Heels
Take damage 500 times.
IV Tis’ But A Scratch
Take damage 999 times.
I Heroic Walk
Move 500m in total.
II Heroic Dash
Move 5000m in total.
III Heroic Marathon
Move 10000m in total.
III Heroic Ultramarathon
Move 50000m in total.
Not sure why it’s III when it should be IV. Though, the Steam achievement ID says it’s V.
Item Unlock Achievements
Obtain your first badge.
You unlock a character’s badge by clearing her challenge fight, with the exception of non-boss badges, which you get when you unlock the first badge.
Merch Collector
Obtain all badges.
I Complete Collection
Unlock 10 or more items in total.
I’m not sure if badges/spell cards/shot types count but you will get all of these if you go for the true ending. Either way you will need to do a few challenge fights.
II Varied Collection
Unlock 20 or more items in total.
III Precious Collection
Unlock 30 or more items in total.
I First Steps
Unlock 5 or more spell cards in total.
Spell cards are unlocked by story progress.
II Baby Steps
Unlock 10 or more spell cards in total.
Item Usage Achievements
Block 4 or more damage with Glacier Shield in any battle.
Equip the Ruler of Dreams badge if you have, or Tewi’s badge if you don’t. Equip the Glacier Shield (obviously) and the Dream Diary if you have, else Airdrop. For the 4 items, you want something that maximize your courage count and courage gain:
- Princess’ Keepsake: +1 starting courage
- Lucky Carrot: chance for a free bomb
- (optional) Youkai Lantern
- (optional) Hero Plush
Start the tutorial stage, use Dream Diary or Airdrop and try to gain as many levels of courage as possible, enter battle, shoot the Yin-Yang Orb to get courage if necessary, use Glacier Shield, get hit, do it 4 times. If you’re lucky, 1-2 free bombs should make this achievement quite free. Else you might need to play a longer stage or retry the tutorial a few times.
All You Can Eat
In any battle, equip the Gourmet’s Hitaikakushi and dispel at least 36 bullets while flying. Count starts from the moment Cirno leaves the ground and ends when she touches it again.
Go for Youmu’s first attack.
Snowflight right into her so your hitbox and hers overlap. You get one level of courage by doing this so it’s a great opener for this fight.
Aya is also a good option with all her homing attacks.
Baka Impact
Use the Frost Cannonball spell card to clear a boss’s final phase by colliding into her in any battle.
Do it in tutorial stage. This bomb has low damage and is impossible to aim so if you haven’t killed the boss in one bomb, you might need to do another one.
Blackout Drunk
Clear the Oni Sake challenge stage with the Golden Beer equipped.
Bring Ice Grenade for ultra DPS. Might as well bring the Rainbow Mushroom for a no-hit run because this fight is mostly macro and no fine dodging required. But if you’re struggling, bring some extra HP.
Cat With ⑨ Lives
Have 9 HP at the end of any battle.
Bring these items:
- Frost Heal bomb: your main source of HP. One full Frost Heal = 1 HP
- Airdrop/Dream Diary: free courage in case you don’t have enough to trigger Frost Heal 3 times
- (optional) Youmu’s badge or Daiyousei’s badge
- (optional) Delicious Dango: +1 HP
- (optional) Cucumber Seed: +1/3 HP per phase, will give you 1 HP in tutorial
- (optional) Princess’ Keepsake: +1
Go to tutorial stage. Airdrop/Dream Diary + Frost Heal right away. If you bring all items, you’ll likely get 9HP before even engaging in battle. Just don’t get hit.
Clash of Swords
Clear the Silent Letter challenge stage with the Secret Manual equipped.
Goddess of Three Planets
Clear any battle with with 3 or more defense items which orbit around the hero.
Equip Mini Moon, Floating Taiko, Yin-Yang Orb (unlocked by beating challenge Reimu) then enter any battle. Tutorial stage works too. The title of this achievement is likely a reference to Hecatia[en.touhouwiki.net], the extra boss from TH15 (and Clownpiece’s mom).
Heads Up
Hit the boss with 4 or more hailstones while Extreme Snowstorm is active in any battle.
Equip Princess’ Keepsake so you start with 2 levels of courage. Go to tutorial stage and enter combat. Bomb Extreme Snowstorm and hope that 4 hailstones hit the orb. If not, retry stage.
Hip-Check
Clear each phase of the boss (excluding survival phases) in the Mushroom Hunter challenge stage by crashing into her with the Magician’s Broom.
You need to ram into challenge Marisa to clear her phases 5 times. Easier done than said. Magician’s Broom deals some serious damage. Bring your usual loadout (I used Youmu’s weapon), beat her to near death each phase then snowflight into her. Wiggle for more damage but do be mindful of your stamina or you might get hit from hitbox collision.
Nice Shot
Equip the Hero Plush and kick a dropped plush out of the battlefield in any battle.
Fumorno gets detached from you when you get hit. Tutorial stage again. Get hit once then kick the doll out of bound.
To unlock Fumorno, you need to reach #1 in the rocket minigame.
Only a Baka Would Get Hit
Die to an airdrop from the Airdrop spell card in any battle.
Equip Airdrop and Rainbow Mushroom. Tutorial stage again. Airdrop it on Cirno, don’t need to engage in battle.
Rise From the Ashes
Revive with the Ultramarine Orb Elixir at least once in any battle.
You will probably trigger it at least once if you use it during the true ending fights. Or commit not alive in the tutorial stage with Airdrop + Rainbow Mushroom again.
Spot the Difference
Win any battle with the Ibuki Gourd (S) and Ibuki Gourd (D) equipped.
Once again, tutorial stage. Beat the orb with these 2 items equipped.
Taiko no Tatsujin
Activate Floating Taiko’s dispel effect 9 or more times in any battle.
The Floating Taiko needs a few seconds to recharge before it can be used again. Bring as much HP as you can, and pick a fight you know your way around, with mostly static patterns. I used challenge Marisa. You can do this in tutorial stage, but you need to have pretty good aim to do so because the stage is quite short with only a few projectile attacks. If you have this item on during a no-hit run, you’ll likely get the achievement without trying.
Vampiric Fangs
Activate Ice Fang 9 or more times in any battle.
Bring the usual courage booster set and try to spam Ice Fang as many times as you can. Ideally pick a stage that you’re comfortable with. Can’t go wrong with challenge Marisa. Tutorial stage is possible too.
Recommended loadout:
- Ice Fang bomb (obviously)
- Dream Diary bomb: 2 free levels of courage
- Ruler of Dreams: 1 free Ice Fang
- Princess’ Keepsake: 1 more free Ice Fang
- Lucky Carrot: chances of free Ice Fangs
- optional courage gain items like Youkai Lantern and Fumo.
Misc Achievements
Lose for the first time.
You will probably get this without even trying.
The Strongest Protector
During Operation Rabbit Hole, finish the second phase with all energy cells undamaged.
During the second half of Operation Rabbit Hole, sometimes an energy cell pops up on the roof of the train and starts heating up over time. You need to stand near it to cool it down. Do this whenever an energy cell pops up and let none of them explode and you get this achievement. You will likely get it without even trying.
Music Time
Play any song on the phonograph in the Bunny Train.
Use the phonograph next to Reisen, play any song.
New Face
Enter the Bunny Lounge for the first time.
You unlock it after clearing stage 5. Go all the way left past your room.
Space Explorer
Reach the top of the leaderboards in Kappa Rocket.
You need to beat 18k score on the minigame inside Bunny Lounge. Not difficult, but might need some time. This achievement gets easier once you unlock more techs in the minigame to help with the gameplay. Focus on the Fuel and Engine upgrades, ignore Warp and Scanner. You build score by landing on planets consecutively without letting the multiplier bar go down. Running out of fuel means a gameover so be mindful of it. Sometimes you encounter green planets with cyan highlight, they refuel your ship. Just give it a few tries and buy the techs. You should get this achievement in 15-30 minutes.
A Sleepy Hero Can’t Possibly Be An Idiot!
Have Cirno sleep in the main menu.
Idle in the title screen for a while and Cirno’ll fall asleep. You can click on anywhere to wake her up.
A Hero’s Heart
Obtain all other achievements and become the true strongest hero.
