Information About This Guide
If you notice errors of any kind (information, spelling, grammar, anything else) please leave
a comment and I will try to fix them ASAP.
Note: What I use as the description of achievements is not the same as what the game uses, if you are looking for an achievement use the name of the achievement.
Note: All things related to the secret achievement are hidden as spoilers with the exception of the chapter relating to the secret achievement itself. If for some reason you don’t want to know about the secret achievement, skip that chapter.
Introduction
Given that you need to do two campaigns and that some of the achievements require you to do somewhat unoptimal things (such as shooting barrels even when enemies rarely go near them) the most efficient way is to first play one campaign on the easiest difficulty (Recruit) and then another on the hardest (Elite).
One important thing to note is that many achievements have “unique” in their description. The game does not let you save and reload to do the same thing over and over to get an achievement. As an example there is an achievement for killing 3 unique enemies with a single explosion 6 times. You cannot keep reloading a save and killing the same 3 enemies with a grenade till you get it, you need to find 3 enemies you can hit with a grenade 6 different times.
Based on my personal experience is should take roughly 30 hours to get everything (gives or take a couple of hours).
Recommended Plan
Difficulty: Recruit (The Easiest)
Tutorial: On
Do these achievements:
Get as much progress on these as you can (then finish them on the second playthrough):
Difficulty: Elite (The Hardest)
Tutorial: Off (Shouldn’t Be Necessary)
Finish these achievements (same achievements as above table):
Do these achivements:
Complete on Specific Difficulty
If you are not able to beat the higher difficulty(ies) the bad news is you will not be able to get 100% of the achievements for this game. The good news however is that aside from the achievements for beating a specific difficulty none of the others require you to play on any particular difficulty, meaning all other achievements can be unlocked even on Recruit difficulty.
Description: This achievement requires you to beat the game on Recruit difficulty.
Description: This achievement requires you to beat the game on Regular difficulty.
Note: Getting this achievement will also get you the achievement “D-Day” for winning on Recruit difficulty.
Description: This achievement requires you to beat the game on Elite difficulty.
Note: Getting this achievement will also get you the achievements “D-Day” and “Martyr” for winning on the two lower difficulties.
Play Normally
Description: You need to complete 15 campaign tasks.
Details: This is one you should actually complete just by playing normally, however it might not be instantly obvious what you need to do (It took me embarrassingly long into my first campaign to figure it out).
The achievement description simply says tasks it does not make it super obvious what it means by tasks. It is referring to campaign tasks you can assign soldiers to perform when you are not taking them into a mission. Other similar games have something like this but they usual have it in their basecamp equivalent, here is it located on the campaign map screen. Just above where you see objectives there is a button that says tasks (see image below). Once you click it you will see a list of tasks (Cure Injuries, Repair Rejoin, etc).
You simply need to complete 15 of them by assigning squad members to do them.
Description: You need to complete 10 campaign objectives.
Details: You will get this by just playing. Objectives does not refer to objectives in missions but to campaign objectives. The campaign objectives appear on the left side when you are on the campaign map.
Description: You need to complete a mission in 6 or less turns.
Details: Play your first campaign with the tutorial on. One of the tutorial missions finishes within 6 turns.
Description: You need to kill 50 unique enemies with melee attacks.
Details: You should get this naturally by playing, the kills you get during stealth missions and the stealth part of ambush missions should be enough to complete this. Any non-stealth melee kills also count towards this achievement (but are not needed).
Description: You need to kill 50 unique enemies while in stealth.
Details: You should get this naturally by just playing.
Note: You can do this at the same time as the achievement “Close Quarters Combat” for getting 50 melee kills.
Description: You need to complete 15 missions in a single campaign.
Details: You will get this naturally by just playing.
Description: You need to earn 1,000 supplies.
Details: You will get this naturally by just playing.
Description: You need to spend 50 days in the campaign.
Details: You will get this naturally by just playing. The campaign lasts 50 days so you will get this by just getting to the end of a campaign.
Description: You need to travel 5,000km on the campaign map.
Details: You will get this naturally by just playing. It will vary slightly based on which missions you choose but in my experience it will take longer than 1 campaign, it should unlock part way through your second playthrough.
Description: You need to kill 500 unique enemies.
Details: You will get this naturally by just playing. Unless you are going out of your way to farm kills on a lot of reinforcements this will take slightly longer than 1 campaign, you will likely get it during the early part of your second playthrough.
Description: You need to complete 50 campaign missions (over multiple campaigns).
Details: You will get this naturally by just playing. You will need to do 2 full playthroughs to unlock this. You might also need to either do one campaign with the tutorial enabled and/or do a few extra missions in a third campaign.
Go Out Of Your Way – Part 1
Description: You need to complete 10 campaign missions with a 5 star rating in the same campaign playthrough.
Details: To get a five star rating you need to complete the mission successfully without any of your soldiers suffering a wound (as in becoming incapacitated not simply taking health damage) and while completing all primary and secondary objectives. This achievement is much easier to do on Recruit difficulty.
Description: You need to complete 30 campaign missions with a 5 star rating.
Details: To get a five star rating you need to complete the mission successfully without any of your soldiers suffering a wound (as in becoming incapacitated not simply taking health damage) and while completing all primary and secondary objectives.
One campaign playthrough is not enough to complete this achievement even if you get 5 stars on every single mission. It is best to do as many as you can on a Recruit playthrough and just do the last few remaining ones on Elite as getting 5 stars is much harder on Elite difficulty.
Description: You need to reach max relations (level 8) with the Radical faction.
Details: You can increase your relations level by doing missions that give you relation points for the Radical faction (the purple one) and by using the “Aid Faction” task on the campaign screen.
Description: You need to reach max relations (level 8) with the Gaulist faction.
Details: You can increase your relations level by doing missions that give you relation points for the Gaulist faction (the blue one) and by using the “Aid Faction” task on the campaign screen.
Description: You need to reach max relations (level 8) with the Criminal faction.
Details: You can increase your relations level by doing missions that give you relation points for the Criminal faction (the yellow one) and by using the “Aid Faction” task on the campaign screen.
Note: You need to do this in order to be able to complete the secret achievement.
Description: You need raise 4 our of your 8 total squad members to the max level (level 25).
Details: There is not enough missions to get all 8 characters to level 25 so unless you want to use the “Training” task to upgrade some of them you will need to choose which 4 you want to upgrade to max level. You cannot just use the same 4 characters on every mission as they will become fatigued and have less total action points to use in the mission, you just need to use them more than the others. Keep in mind you get about 1-2 levels on most missions throughout the campaign if you do all the secondary objectives (progression does not slow down). It is worth noting that if a soldier retreats (gets downed twice) he/she will only get half as much XP as he/she would otherwise.
Description: You need to recruit all 8 recruitable unique characters in the game.
Details: Four times during the campaign (towards the beginning) you will be given an option of two missions, each of which will result in a character being recruited to your squad (you can only pick one or the other). Make a note of which you recruit during your first playthrough and pick the others ones during the second playthrough.
Note: I recommend making a manual save before making each choice during your second playthrough to ensure you can go back and pick any you need just in case.
Go Out Of Your Way – Part 2
Description: You need to destroy 33 unique barrels.
Details: You will find varying amount of red barrels on most maps, they explode if you shot them. I recommend doing this achievement on recruit difficulty as enemies rarely stand next to them so shooting them is usually a waste of time and not something you want to waste your soldier’s turns on when playing on Elite difficulty.
Description: You need to kill 50 enemies with explosives.
Details: You need to go out of your way to try to keep killing as many enemies as possible with your grenades. Any explosion should work but most of your kills for this will need to be with grenades.
Description: You need to kill 3 unique enemies with a single explosion and you need to do it 6 times.
Details: You get this by killing 3 enemies with a grenade, you might have to softer them up first (depending on enemy type and difficulty). The best way to get this is by fighting the reinforcements as they are more likely to be bunched up. This is much easier to do on Recruit difficulty as enemies have less health.
Description: You need to kill 5 unique enemies in a single turn and you need to do it 6 times.
Details: When you find an opportunity to kill 5 enemies make a save just in case you mess it up or RNG messes with you. Keep in mind you need to do it to 5 unique enemies so reloading the save to do it again does not work (you are only making the save to ensure you succeed). This is much easier to do on Recruit difficulty as enemies have less health.
If you are having difficulty getting this you can try leaving a bunch of enemies on low health to kill them all at once the next turn (I don’t recommend trying this on higher difficulties).
Description: You need to land 6 shots with less than 25% chance to hit.
Details: You may get this just by playing or you might not, depends on your luck (and if you bother trying to land shots with less than 25% chance to hit).
To farm the achievement make a save each time you find a shot with less than 25% chance to hit, preferably as high as possible (24% is ideal). Then just keep reloading the save and trying again until you hit. Keep in mind this needs to be 6 different shots you cannot keep reloading the same save until you do it 6 times.
Description: You need to destroy 15 unique vehicles.
Details: There are multiple different kind of vehicles on many of the campaign missions including trucks and kübelwagens (These Things[upload.wikimedia.org]). You just need to destroy 15 of them, you can do this with grenades or by shooting at them. I recommend you do this on Recruit difficulty, they can take multiple attacks to destroy and you don’t have the luxury of ignoring the enemy for that long on Elite difficulty.
Note: There are also some armoured cars, tanks, and planes in some later missions that you destroy by placing charges next to them. Unfortunately I had already done the achievement by that point so I cannot confirm if those count towards the achievement or not.
Description: You need to control all 3 sections of 5 regions.
Details: The campaign map is divided into regions each of which consists of 3 parts. You can select a new part to add to your control after you complete a mission (you get a section for any region you want of the same faction/colour as the one the missions was located in). In order to get a region under your control you need control all 3 parts of the region.
Make sure to keep selecting parts of the same regions instead of spreading them out. You want to do this anyway as you get bonuses for controlling the whole region. Make sure to also repair any region that the enemy manage to damage with the “Repair Region” task, damaged regions do not count as being fully under your control (damaged regions appear stripped on the campaign map). Using FFI tokens to temporarily knock out enemy units also helps (you will be able to get these later in the campaign).
Secret Achievement
Description: You need to complete a mission with a squad member wearing the Black Homburg, Suit Jacket, Suit Trousers, and equipped with the Thompson.
There are multiple things you need to do to unlock this achievement:
- Recruit the French scout character (Moussa “Butch” Comba).
- Complete the mission that rewards the Black Homburg.
- Reach max relations (level 8) with the criminals.
- Buy the Suit Jacket and Suit Trousers from the criminals.
- Equip the French scout with the Black Homburg, Suit Jacket, Suit Trousers, and the Thompson (Any Thompson is fine).
- Successfully complete a mission with the team including the French scout with the above setup.
