Are you struggling to complete certain achievements in Back 4 Blood while playing solo in the year 2024? Look no further! In this gaming guide, I share some tips and tricks that I learned during my own solo sessions. These tips will help you conquer those achievements with ease.
Introduction
so I generally started the game with my buddy, played through the base campaigns. Then decided to go back on my own, do a few achievements aaaand I ended up 100%-ing the whole thing.
During my sessions and research regarding specific achievements I picked up some info that you might find useful if you’re going for the 100%.
For one, you can 100% this game solo/in offline mode with bots as of 2024 (except for two easy co-op achievments listed below).

Personally, I used this one and also just googled other info.
Speaking of…
Outdated info/Heads-up for googling stuff up
These two statements are not truth, at least they no longer are. I’ve played the whole game solo with bots in offline mode, sometimes finishing after taking over a bot (unless the game doesn’t count it when you finish as a spectator).
While googling stuff about this game look at the date of a post and keep in mind that stuff could’ve been changed.
Nightmare/No Hope, Decks
The base game has no achievements for No Hope difficulty. To be done with acts 1-4 you only need to play on Nightmare. Difficulty trophies stack of course.
On Nightmare first-aid kits have one free charge, there’s more corruption cards and you die faster.
Act V and VI (DLC) achievements will require you to play on No Hope Difficulty. First-aid kits have no free charges, you die even faster and additionally, the cult member special infected are much more common here since the cult is the main antagonist of these levels.
Both acts have a single sequence of levels, Act V has six levels, VI five. On No Hope the only starting point is at the beginning. Now although you have only 1 Continue (fail two times, restart the whole campaign), as long as you quit to menu before everyone dies (not gets downed, dies) you keep that continue. That basically means that you can attempt every level however many times you want. If you feel like that run didn’t go well, restart it. This changes the achievement in more of a grind than a challenge.
Now for the decks:
This deck put together by ThatDrunkGuy right here if you scroll down a bit [forum.psnprofiles.com], is a melee build that provides healing for close combat kills and buffs healing items. The author recommends playing as Tala to farm warped chests easier. These have a chance of dropping The Grim Reaper melee attachment which gives a chance of insta kills and even better heals thanks to these kills.
Honestly this is the best deck I’ve found for completing difficult campaigns, I’ve done both No Hope achievements using this one. Just while choosing the melee weapon make sure to choose one that attacks horizontally, otherwise when you get the corruption card with exploding-head zombiegos, every overhead swing will blow them up. With claws or a machete aim low.
Another thing with this deck is that it has the card which makes that if you crouch you don’t take or deal friendly fire damage. This means that if you are fighting off the horde while sticking to your team you can just crouch and keep swingin’ like crazy without any worry.
This one was made by The Boston Chris Show on YouTube. It carried me through the base game’s nightmare mode. This one is more gun based and honestly I like to just run this one when playing some regular maps on Veteran or smh. Admin Reload is a great card, it reloads your gun while you’re using the other one. You can constantly combo it to keep firing. Just watch the video for the full overview.
There is also this [www.trueachievements.com] thread with another two decks, but I didn’t get the chance to try them out so check out if it works for you.
There are a lot of cool decks out there online, just make sure you’re not looking at some outdated combination, No Hope meta changed a bit overtime too it seems. Alternatively, put together your own and experiment what works best for you.
Squad Up and Swarmed
You just need to form a party with somebody. Invite a friend to your session or join him through Steam and you’re good to go.
Now this one will be a little bit more complicated.
As nobody plays The Swarm Mode, you probably won’t find anybody to play with by just waiting in the matchmaking lobby.
You actually don’t need an entire lobby. What you want to do instead is to find a buddy and then click on “Create Private Server”. You’ll going to get a random password generated for your lobby that you’ll have to send to your buddy. Now once your friend puts the password in he’ll join your session as the opposing team.
Now the person going for the achievement needs to win 2/3 rounds (by surviving more time than the other “team”) and you got yourself the trophy.
Even if you are asocial like me you’re going to have to find a buddy for these two. Just create a discussion here on steam asking for help with these and someone will definitely give you a hand.
Buggy Achievements
Now you can approach this in two ways; first just play and do other stuff. Some players have reported that they were just randomly awarded these trophies like, several hours later while doing other stuff or a campaign. Now if this doesn’t work…
Unfortunately you’ll have to complete the level/s that you’ve missed according to the game again.
B4B seems to not register random levels as “completed” sometimes.
I’ve found a cool little tool that reads your profile file and shows you all the information regarding your in-game profile.
https://b4bstats.mazz.lol/self/
As you can see, this is my No Hope progression for all the maps for Tala at the time when I had a bugged achievement. The game did not registered In The Depths level as completed even though I did the god da.mn finale of the campaign. Sure enough, when I restarted the the campaign, reached the level again and completed it, the achievement popped up.
The site counts all progression separately for each character so make sure you’re checking out the correct one.
It also has cool breakdowns and overviews of weapons and ridden which are cool.
Good Riddence!
Now this is a lot of zombies to kill. If you really like the game and just play it all the time then maybe this will just pop-up naturally for you. For me though, I still needed to farm this after doing all the other achievements.
If you did everything else in this game, then I suggest turning it down a little and putting some music or a podcast on. You can run some hives and get skulls to get these sweet ZWAT costumes.
If you really want to get done with this though, there is a good spot to farm.
Here is a great video about it by Sir_Harris on YouTube. You basically load up The Road to Hell which is in Act 3, reach the saferoom, lock the bots in it and farm kills on front of it. Use the deck shown in the video or the one I showed above and swing away. The horde is going to be coming constantly and the bots won’t take away your kills (unless you walk too far away from the saferoom, because then they’ll teleport).
Now I was kind of idling it – I put a golf ball on my mouse button, stood in the corner and read Shaman King. Picked Evangelo in case something grabbed me. I even got two friendly Stinger buddies just chillin’ with me.
Keep paying attention though, because you might get knocked out of the corner and you’ll have to correct yourself. Or just do like me and put another golf ball on the S button so Evangelo would just walk back to the corner automatically.
I had like 35% kills left and it still took me like 2 hours so keep in mind it still takes time and it’s grindy.
Other Tips
- Ping stuff – even solo pinging will give sort of commands to the bots. They can open stash rooms if they have a tool kit, pick up duffle bags (but not specimen containers!) or heal their incaps for free if you point them to a first aid kit (you can do that multiple times if you screw around with it for a while) – that is if they feel like it, bcs sometimes they don’t
- You can reload the flamethrower by interacting with gas carnisters/tanks
- You can skip a significant portion of the minecart escort in In The Depths if at one point you use a tool kit on a railway switch – the minecart will go forward instead of going to the left. You can’t follow it, but you won’t have to worry about it for a while
- You can do Apocalypse Pacifist solo, by letting the bots kill everything – apparently only actual players count
- You can repeat a level how many times you want, as long as you quit before everyone dying – it doesn’t consume the Continue
- You can kill Snitches, as long as you coordinate you attack with the team (ping the sucker)
and don’t have The Dark corruption card on because then they’ll call a horde instantly - Pick horizontally swinging melee weapons
- You can get trophies solo/in offline mode
- Use hives – they can not only skip harder parts of maps, but provide a lot of resources and copper
- Act 3 Farther Afield is a good level to farm hives
- Spend you copper wisely – imo don’t buy weapons, you’ll find them eventually. Buy upgrades, necessary tools and support items/grenades (flashbangs can be amazing sometimes), buy additional cards during the map and keep in mind you might need to use a first aid kit later
- Collect copper whenever you can – warped copper debuffs aren’t really that bad
- Try finding better weapons with time: white->green->blue->purple->orange. Mainly aim for purple, because orange ones are special with specific effects, which don’t always work for everybody. Higher rarity = better base stats, you can always rebuild attachments.
- Act 2 Finale – Grave Danger you can leave multiple grenades in the saferoom and then run back to it once you’ve spawned the bosses which should make it a little easier
- It’s advisable to just be fast and run through the Ogre fights sometimes and not fight it, like in the prison or while blowing up the cultist lighthouse
- Try to avoid the Hag, attack only if it engages you (or bots engage her -_-)
- Have fun
Thank You!
