Hey gamers! Are you struggling to unlock the “True Son of the Emperor” achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2? Look no further! This guide will show you a fun and efficient method to earn 400-700 kills without having to restart checkpoints. Let’s get those achievements!
First things first:
Getting in Position
Progress through the mission until you get to the closed gates that will require battling a horde until they are opened.
Once you are at this point, I highly recommend picking up the chainsword if you haven’t already from the drop pod, as well as the heavy bolter. Use the heavy bolter to start working down all large enemies, as well as any smaller enemies that get in the way (there is another heavy bolter on the left side of the map if you are facing towards the swarm).
After the door opens more large enemies will pop up and all of your backup will run into the gate. DO NOT FOLLOW THEM and instead use the heavy bolter to finish off the large enemies, as well as using grenades and the environment.
If you go down during the fight with the bigger enemies and haven’t gone done prior, that is okay. Chairon and/or Gadriel will run out long enough to revive you before running back in.
*NOTE: Be careful not to go down twice. I noticed that sometimes Chairon and Gadriel will bug out on their second trek out to save you and may not actually get to you.
Once you have cleared out the larger enemies, also knock out the few smaller shooters.
At this point, make your way to the corner of the left side of the map as shown below:
The Grind
Once you are in position, begin your assault with the chainsword. Focus on attacking repeatedly, while rolling back into the corner when you feel overwhelmed.
Conserve your ult during this maneuver so that you can pop it as soon as your health hits around a quarter full so that you can replenish your health with the ult.
Aside from some tips below, that is all there really is to it. This method works best alone and I prefer it because the corner is also far enough back that the soldiers and your two comrades won’t still any kills with grenades and pot shots. That was the biggest grievance I often had with other tutorials, every kill they take is one less for you – especially if a grenade is tossed.
Tips!
- You don’t have to, but try to be sure your ammo is full-ish when you head to the corner. There were plenty of times when I got over-confident in my assault and my health dipped lower than it should have before my ult was ready. Since the enemies don’t generally attack in the corner you can take pot shots at them to get your ult up.
- If you are running low on ammo for the above trick, I highly recommend wasting one of your ults to help you get to the ammo stash that is right behind the drop pod in the image above. Pop your ult, run/roll to the ammo and grab it, run/roll back to your corner. It isn’t graceful, but it works.
- Try to always perfect parry the jumpers. The added armor as well as pushing all the enemies back from the shockwave is a huge help
- While gun strikes are also good for getting back armor, only do them if you know you are in a spot where you won’t immediately get hit after, otherwise you just lose the armor you just gained. Not really a con, but not really a pro either.
- BE WARY OF YOUR SHOCKWAVE ATTACKS. The perfect parry, stomp, and occasionally block are great, but sometimes they will shove enemies into your corner. If this happens make sure to immediately work your way back into the corner so you yourself don’t get cornered
- Gadriel and Chairon sometimes struggle to get to you in time if you fall back here so make sure you are saving your ult to get your health back. It took me a few tries but once I got into the swing of things I don’t believe I went down once in my last 7-10k kills.
