In this guide, you will find tips for solving all the Main and Lost Puzzles in the South and West areas of Talos Principle 2.
Introduction
The layout is simple but I’ll explain it here in case there’s any confusion. Following the puzzle number and title, there’s a list of “Tools.” This shows all the tools that can be picked up and manipulated by hand. Sometimes I found myself getting confused because I had not noticed a certain tool could be grabbed, especially fans which are not always movable. It is spoiler-tagged for two reasons: because the introduction of new tools is part of the narrative and because some tools are found later in the puzzle and it may be more gratifying to find them yourselves. After “Tools,” the hints are in a numbered list. This is meant to give some assistance going through the level and so should be in order of the tasks to be performed. I tried to not give direct instructions, or when direct instruction is unavoidable, to not give the method directly. Also, some of the hints may seem repetitive, such as information on the use of Teleporters but not everyone approaches the puzzles in the indicated order… and some may find inordinate pleasure in solving them in reverse order.
This is my first Steam guide. I hope it’s useful to you, and probably to myself when I come back to play this game again in future. Thanks for your time and have fun.
South 1: Southern Coast
Tools: Teleporter, Fan, Hexahedron
- The blue shield blocks more than the fence
- You’ll need all the tools at the end
- You can teleport while holding a tool
- Tools can be placed atop the Hexahedron
Tools: Driller, Connector, Teleporter
- The Driller is great for passing through
- There’s a reason you opened up the first red gate
- Let your Connector pull double duty before proceeding
- You can teleport while holding a tool
- See Hint 1 again
Tools: Teleporter x2, Driller
- You can pass a Teleporter through the Driller hole
- You can’t move directly forward
- The metal fences don’t block a Teleporter
- Zig-zag your way to the solution
Tools: Connector, Hexahedron, Teleporter
- You can get your Connector back
- You can’t use the Connector past the red receiver plate
- You can teleport while holding a tool
Tools: Teleporter x2, Jammer
- Bars and metal fences don’t block the Teleporter
- Team up the Jammer and Teleporter to retrieve both
- The Jammer can work through the wider bars
- Position your Teleporter to get where you want to go
Tools: Hexahedron, Teleporter
- Take it step-by-step to retrive the Teleporter
- You can Teleport while holding a tool
- Don’t overcomplicate the final segment
- The ledge is low enough to reach the box
Tools: Hexahedrom x2, Connector x2, Jammer, Teleporter
- Take advantage of the low wall
- Twice
- You only need to be in the one room long enough to hold the button down
- Again take advantage of the short wall
Tools: Connector, Hexahedron, Teleporter
- Hop over
- Bring out the Connector
- You can reach farther than you might think
- There are two ways to reach the upper platform and you’ll need to utilize both
- The connector has to be on the box, on the fan, so how can you make that work?
Tools: Jammer, Fan, Teleporter, Accumulator
- You need to unlimber that Jammer
- The bars don’t block the Teleporter
- There’s a way up top that doesn’t require the fan
- The Accumulator is holding down the button to open the way to the red beam, so how can you press the button from up here?
- The gap is just wide enough for a tool to pass through when opened
Tools: Teleporter, Hexahedron x2, Fan
- Find the Teleporter to start with
- Get onto the back platform
- Now get everything out of that back area
- Remember you can stack tools on boxes
- Use underhanded methods to achieve your stacking needs
South 2: Verdant Canyon
Tools: Gravshifter, Connector
- Remember the shiny geometric triangle surface from the Megastructure?
- The Gravshifter works on the golden triangle surfaces
- Remember you can double-jump to release from alternative gravity
- The Connector needs to be high enough to reach the blue receiver plate, and you don’t need the Gravshifter to accomplish this
Tools: Gravshifter, Connector
- The Gravshifter works on the golden triangle surfaces
- Let the Gravshifter pull double duty
- You need to get that Connector moved so place it just so
- The Connector will retain whatever gravity it last experienced if on the gravity surface
Tools: Gravshifter, Connector x2
- The Connector retains its last gravity
- It’s all about positioning
- Use your Gravshifter to put the Connector where it needs to go
Tools: Connector, Hexahedron
- Turns out, you can take it with you
- You can cheese the connector into the room with the blue light but it just got me stuck
- The second red receiver plate is a red herring – you don’t need to engage with it
- Cutting corners is the way to get things done around here
Tools: Gravshifter, Hexahedron, Connector
- Remember that the tools will retain their last experienced gravity
- You’re going to need that Hexahedron inside the gates
- Let your Connector pull double duty…
- …with the help of your Gravshifter
Tools: Driller, Gravshifter
- Remember you can pass tools through the drilled hole
- Also remember there was an occasion you yourself passed through a drilled hole
- There’s more than one way to take a fall
- The blue gate blocks your gravity beam
Tools: Fan, Hexahedron x2, Connector, Gravshifter
- There’s only one way to get use out of the fan if you can’t reach it yourself when it’s on
- Don’t gravshift that Hexahedron until you’ve prepared everything or you may have to reset
- That being said, you do want, nay, need that box
- You can use the fan as collateral or as a button weight
- See where you want to go and work it backwards to find the solution
Tools: Fan, Accumulator, Gravshifter, Jammer
- You can detach the fan for use as collateral at the item swap
- Not to say you’re heavy, 1k, but you’re able to hold down buttons too
- One item swap can only be accessed using the Gravshifter
- Your Jammer can pull double duty
- Your Accumulator doesn’t lose its charge on the item swap
Tools: Fan, Gravshifter, Connector, Hexahedron
- Find the golden triangle surface to get an idea of where to start
- Because of the position of the fencing, the red light beam can only go out that one direction
- The Hexahedron is too big to hold down the button without blocking the red light beam
- The Hexahedron is just the right height for another purpose however
- Try positioning your gravity beam as low as possible
Tools: Gravshifter, Hexahedron
- Find and retrieve your Hexahedron
- Use your noggin
- I was trying to overcomplicate it once I got both tools past the purple gate, it’s pretty simple then
South 3: Circular Oasis
Tools: RGB Converter, Connector, Inverter
- You can only have access to one light beam source
- The Inverter placement is the key
Tools: Connector x3
- Gather your tools
- Another turn of the wheel, I don’t know, this one is pretty straightforward
Tools: Hexahedron x2, Teleporter
- Catch a ride across the gap
- That second Hexahedron can give you a lift
- Let the Teleporter precede you
Tools: Connector x2, Driller
- Don’t make my mistake of having a narrow angle on the rotating red plate; be sure it can rotate far enough to catch on the other side
- You’ll need to hold the rotation open, and hold the door open too
- Opening access to the blue light doesn’t necessarily mean it has to use the blue light
Tools: Connector x2
- You can take the Connector with you across the gap
- That tower in the middle makes it a little tricky to get back, so find a way to maintain the light
Tools: Inverter, Accumulator
- Sneak your way into the laddered section
- In order to retrieve your tools, set up connections before stepping on the button
Tools: Inverter, Connector, Driller
- Get high and collect all your tools
- There’s only one place to use your Driller, see what you can see through that hole
- Set thing up with Connectors and then move to the end
Tools: Connector x3
- One of the walls in the rotating platform can let light beams past
- You can get a Connector into the purple field area
- Figure out which way the rotating platform needs to be positioned, then work backwards to find the light arrangement
- Red light means go
Tools: Connector x2, Gravshifter
- Liberate your trapped Connector
- The Gravshifter can be used on that moving platform to reach a lot of the level
- Notice where you can change gravity and when that is useful
- The Gravshifter can also be used to go and grab what you need
- Red rover, red rover
Tools: Connector x2, Accumulator
- You can’t yet reach the Accumulator but you can interact with it
- Find a way to hold the door open
- Now you can’t get the Accumulator out but you can reposition it
West 1: Western Delta
Tools: Connector x2
- This blue barrier setup works a little differently
- This solution is all about positioning
- The Servitor needs to stand still at points
Tools: Connector x2, Hexahedron
- You’ll have to help out too
- Look for another way to get at the Servitor
- Use your newfound vertical advantage
- Continue to take the high road to the end
Tools: Inverter, Connector
- The name of this puzzle is a big hint in and of itself
- Think about where each element must be in order to make any progress
- Connectors project the first light source they receive…
- If the first of two light sources is disconnected, then the second light source becomes the first
Tools: Connector x2, Hexahedron, Fan
- There’s exactly one red receiver item here – the Servitor platform (don’t judge but it took me five minutes to realize this)
- The Servitor platform is only one way to get some height
- You have to do this in sequence, one then the other
- Don’t over-complicate it trying to combat red vs blue (look, it was almost midnight and I was falling asleep at the wheel)
- Use red to get everything in position, then switch to blue
Tools: Connector x2
- Your Servitor platform moves back and forth, but why?
- One nuisance is that the red receiver plate that opens the blue barrier also disables the fan so how to get around this problem?
- Riding the Servitor platform is not the solution
- What is another way to get the red light off of the receiver plate once you’re past the barrier?
- I hate to interrupt but…?
Tools: Connector x2
- You may need to take your vehicle off-roading
- Deal with blue first
- You need to reach just a little higher
Tools: Connector, Accumulator
- That central Connector can be used to project either red or blue
- See that you want to move the Servitor platform, but how?
- You’ll be stuck on button duty
- Your Accumulator should have blue light in the end
Tools: Driller, Teleporter, Connector x2
- Take the Teleporter and explore the puzzle first – remember that a tool can be placed through a drilled hole
- The ladder is pretty useful in this puzzle
- Send your Servitor platform to its most useful position
- You’ll need that Driller again
- Remember that a metal fence doesn’t block the Teleporter
Tools: Connector, Teleporter
- Ride your way to the top
- Keep pushing forward to find new uses
- You can teleport back up if you position the Teleporter well
- Just shuffle your tools forward until you reach the goal
- You can’t teleport through a blue barrier but you can teleport in such a way that the barrier appears as you move past it
Tools: Connector x2
- Notice the stationary Connector that is required for starting to move the Servitor platform; the beams can’t pass over that tiny fence – also, remember Connectors can sit atop the Servitor platform
- This puzzle requires more active participation than most
- It’s easy to get locked in at the end of the first section, and if you do, you must reset
- The Servitor platform needs some hand-holding at the end of the first section
- You can get a different angle on it from the center
- I’m not sure if this is the intended solution but I had to inch my way through the second section
- One of your Connectors must serve button-holding duty so find a way for it to still be useful
- The Servitor platform can’t be powered directly from the Connector sitting atop it
West 2: Anthropic Hills
Tools: Activator x2
- The Activator needs appropriate colored light power to, well, activate, or to be actively within range of another active Activator
- Finagle your way to access the red light beam
Tools: Activator x3
- Remember that one Activator can activate another
- There’s a new mechanic: an Activator can open a metal gate; look for the icon when holding the tool to see if a gate is in range
- Different paths will let you reach different objectives
Tools: Activator x2, Driller
- Use the ladder to start gathering your tools
- The Driller is used to reach the final blue barrier with your Activator…
- …but only tangentially
Tools: Jammer, Activator, Connector
- A window of opportunity will open many paths (fortune cookie hints initiated)
- The Servitor platform can be activated without a direct light beam now
- You can jam the Servitor platform
[/olist]
Tools: Connector, Activator, Hexahedron x2
- Activator can activate a new activatable accessory
- Two by two we go
- You’ve got to reach a greater height
Tools: Activator x2, Hexahedron
- Activate your Activator…
- …with your other Activator
- You can get out the Hexahedron, then use it to get at the other tools
- The button past the blue barrier holds the door open
- Your Activator will activate the fan that will lift you to the Progress Wheel, but how can you reach it?
Tools: Activator, Jammer
- Always cut corners when you can
- There are two blue light beams for a reason, so how can you utilize the second?
- Again, cutting a corner helps
- The Activator has to hold open two gates to proceed
Tools: Connector, Hexahedron x2, Activator
- Slip that extra Hexahedron out
- And get it even further out
- Use an alternate light path
Tools: Activator, Connector, Inverter
- The Activator can hold the door open for you
- Again!
Tools: Connector x2, Hexahedron x2, Fan, Activator
- Get the blue light beam to the Activator and see what you can accomplish with it
- There’s an angle that will let you free up a needed tool
- You’ll need a Connector inside to get that Activator out
- This one is all about angles; find a way to reach each connection you need
- You can grab the Fan to bring the Hexahedron back down without lifting anything off the button
West 3: High Plain
Tools: Jammer, Connector
- You can’t jam both fans, and you enable them with the door, so how can you control when they’re on?
- The name of this puzzle is a pretty good hint
- The blue barrier blocks the light beam
Tools: Connector x2
- There’s a purple field so you know it would help to get a tool in there
- You need to get past the blue barrier, then the fan, but one Connector powers both… how can you cut it off?
- Observe the horizontal bars through which a light beam may pass
Tools: Connector
- Are you going to let that fan push you around like that?
- Set up the proverbial dominos and let them fall without yourself in the way
Tools: Connector x2
- The conceit is straightforward, so how can you stop using Connector 1 for blue and project red instead?
- Think of different ways to use the inner Connector 2
- The indirect approach is the way
Tools: Connector x2
- Find a way to get the beam to self-support out the blue barrier window
- This requires some back-and-forth fidgeting with the connections
- Once you have the idea, use this same method; now it’s all about positioning
Tools: Connector, Hexahedron, Platform
- Get up on the fan and look around
- Strong arm your way to a solution
- You’ve used the Platform to carry doppelgangers before but you can carry something here too
Tools: Jammer, Connector
- Let your Connector borrow the Jammer even though you’ll need it back
- The Connector can return the favor, so that you have both tools free
- Set up a “gateway switch so you can control which light is available and when
- The red light beam and blue light beam should not stream through the open windows but rather through each respective blue barrier
Tools: Connector, Hexahedron x2
- You’ll need both Hexahedrons out, which means the Connector must be offered for trade
- Remember that you can reach over the shorter fence by standing on the Hexahedron
- The purple field won’t let tools pass through
- You don’t have to explictly release the Hexahedron in order to drop it, the purple field will take it from you
- This is the most platforming challenge thus far
Tools: Connector x2
- Notice the moving fence between the two receiver plates
- I’m not sure I found the intended solution but my way involved the slight delay for one beam to interrupt another
Tools: Connector, Hexahedron x2
- Get the lay of the land and see what you need to accomplish, this is a pretty straightforward puzzle
- The red light beam does not have a corresponding receiver plate
- Your Hexahedrons can really get in the way
