“Welcome to The Lotus Holidays: Achievement Guide! This comprehensive guide will help you achieve 100% completion in this exciting game. Please note, there may be some mild spoilers included. Let’s get started!”
Foreword
The Lotus Holidays is a trippy first-person adventure that follows in the footsteps of Sad Mask Party’s debut, Mango, yet opts for open-ended gameplay that unravels itself from day to day. Due to game’s mysterious and explorative nature, it is highly recommended to take your first foray into its world blindly and try to solve it at your own pace, without utilizing this guide at all.
The game saves player’s progress at the start of each day, complete with the consequences of the choices made in the previous ones. As such, some of the achievements and endings remain out of reach unless prerequisities are met, yet it is possible to turn things around by returning to a previous day and opting for a different approach.
This guide is structured so that you can either check the breakdown provided below and jump to relevant days to get tips on what you miss, or start afresh and follow the optimized walkthrough given in code at the start of each section to have all the achievements unlocked by the end.
If need be, a complete save that follows the walkthrough can be found over here.[drive.google.com]
Replace the file named SteamCloud_Lotus.sav found in ‘AppData\LocalLow\sadmaskparty\The Lotus Holidays’ with the one provided in the .zip (while the game is running, if Steam Cloud is enabled) to be able to start any day with all the prerequisites are met up to that point.
Here is what to look for from day to day, listed in the order the guide details them:
Get Snarky (req. for ‘Snitches Get Stitches’ and ‘Slow Death’)
Day 2 – Kids TV / Snitches Get Stitches (tied to ‘Get Snarky’)
Slow Death (tied to ‘Get Snarky’, also possible on Day 4 on its own)
Day 3 – It’s Busy! / Feed It (optionally tied to Day 2, req. for ‘Screw This’) / Well Played
Day 4 – Screw This (tied to ‘Feed It’, req. for ‘Love Is in the Air’)
Baby Food (tied to Days 2 and 3, or Day 3 only)
Last Day (H) – Pearl (also possible on Last Day -C-) / You’ve Been Caught / Breakdown
Last Day (C) – Fool Me Twice / The Big Escape / Total Lemonade! (tied to Days 1 and 2)
Say Cheese / Permanent Vacation / Love Is in the Air (tied to ‘Screw This’)
Carlos (tied to Days 1 to 4) / Hazel (tied to Days 2 to 4)
As a side note, whenever the game forces a restart of the day (i.e. Snitches Get Stitches, Slow Death, You’ve Been Caught and Fool Me Twice), it is a good idea to reload the day in question manually instead, just to be on the safe side, as some flags may not get reset otherwise.
‘I just want to make videogames. But very artistic. You think there’s an audience for that, out there? God, why do I even confide in you..?’
Day 1
– Go to Spa, talk to Lorelei, get your towel and have a shower as suggested.
– Get in the pool and relax. Use the emergency exit once the alarms kick in.
DAY 1
> Meet Carlos in Office Space and keep the talk friendly. (Carlos: pre 1/4)
– Go to Patients Diner, talk to Blance and take your pills.
– Talk to Denise in Central Hallway (i.e. Reception).
> Meet Luther in Memphis Bar and opt for lemonade. (Lemonade, Total Lemonade!: pre 1/2)
> Talk to Nina in Lounge #1 and refuse to help. (Get Snarky)
– Return to Denise, get the guest card she offers and retreat to your room.
Drink some.
Meet Luther in Memphis Bar and opt for a lemonade when given the choice, ‘Yeah, kinda true though.’ then get the drink that appears on the counter. Doing so also fulfills the first step (out of two) towards ‘Total Lemonade!’ (on Last Day: Confront), the second one being on Day 2.
She started it!
Talk to Nina in Lounge #1 and refuse to help her when she asks. ‘Well, as a patient, I’m a bit offended.’ > ‘No. Would be too tempting to steal it.’ Doing so also opens the way for ‘Snitches Get Stitches’ and ‘Slow Death’ (both on Day 2).
If you agree to help, Denise takes Nina’s staff ID card from your hands as you leave Bathroom F and gives your guest card on the spot. Still, doing so locks you out of two achievements the next day and does not get you anything in the long run, so it is better to just refuse and stick with it.
Day 2
> Turn on the TV found in your room and change the channel twice. (Kids TV)
> Find Nina in South Corridor, offend her and snitch Lemon. (Snitches Get Stitches)
LOAD: DAY 2
> Talk to Nina once again, offend her the same but do not snitch Lemon. (Slow Death)
LOAD: DAY 2
> Get into Room 212 and meet Hazel. (Hazel: pre 1/3)
> Talk to Carlos in Bathroom M (2F) and get invited to his place. (Carlos: pre 2/4)
– Get Florian’s cigarettes from Room 201 and make your way to Event Space.
> Meet Cherry and tell her that her outfit is better. (Feed It: pre 1/4)
> Drink the lemonade waiting for you in Memphis Bar. (Total Lemonade!: pre 2/2)
– Go to Tech, give Florian his cigarettes and get into Lab #2 to meet Zero.
– Explore Lab #1, then attend the orientation event held in Meeting Room.
– Explore Labs #4 and #3, get the staff ID card from Servers and sneak into Storage.
Watch a kids TV show.
Before leaving your room, turn on the TV and change the channel twice so that you come across an animation. This one may also be possible to unlock on Day 4, as the same clip appears once more if you cycle through the channels on that day.
Betray Lemon.
It won’t hurt much.
These two achievements require you to be on bad terms with Nina (‘Get Snarky’ on Day 1). She is to be found on this day standing guard with Alice at the midst of South Corridor. Offending her and confessing that you got the card from Lemon leads to ‘Snitches Get Stitches’, while offending her but not telling about Lemon leads to ‘Slow Death’. Both of these achievements require you to progress to the next room to actually kick in (and force a restart of the day at the same).
Dialogue for ‘Slow Death’: ‘Your whole vibe does actually offend me.’ > ‘I don’t see you do sh*t, either. > ‘I’m not a f*cking snitch!’
Note that it is also possible to unlock ‘Slow Death’ on Day 4 in a wholly different context, without depending on ‘Get Snarky’. For details, see the very end of the relevant section.
Day 3
– Change the channel on your TV until the scene changes to meet Baby Boy.
– Check on Lemon in his room and then meet Iris in Bathroom F (2F).
> Get into Bathroom M on the same floor and open the third closet door. (It’s Busy!)
> Drop by Room 205, have a drink with Carlos and get set for the next day. (Carlos: pre 3/4)
> Talk to Cherry in Event Space, get her trust and learn about the note. (Feed It: pre 2/4)
– Tell Lemon about Iris, then talk to Hazel in Room 212 and keep it flirty. (Hazel: pre 2/3)
– Get the cake plate from either White Room #5 or Office Space and give it to Hazel.
– Leave the room for a sec, re-enter it and steal Hazel’s staff ID card laying on the table.
> Go to Laundry, interact with the red dress and opt to read the note. (Feed It: pre 3/4)
> Get the strange liquid and vintage film camera from Storage. (Feed It: pre 4/4, Hazel: pre 3/4)
> Back in your room, switch to Baby Boy scene once more and give him the liquid. (Feed It)
– Talk to Lemon in his room, sneak him a knife from Kitchen and then check on him.
– Down to Reception, tell Denise what happened and steal the master key. (Well Played)
– Get into Room 216 to meet Jacqueline, then return to your room and have a shower.
Sorry, wrong bathroom..
On your way to meeting Iris, check Bathroom M (2F) and interact with the half-open closet door.
Give Baby Boy some juice on day #3.
This achievement (optionally) requires you to be on good terms with Cherry. First, find her in Event Space alongside Chloe. If you happen to meet her and compliment her outfit on Day 2, ‘Yeah, sure. You wore it best.’ then talking to her results in her asking about your trust.
Still, if you don’t meet her on Day 2, it is still possible to initiate a similiar dialogue by talking to her a second time after the initial meeting. Either way, reply positively when asked. ‘Always.’
She then sends you on a quest to retrieve a note from the pocket of a certain red dress found in Laundry. Once there, opt to read the note in question. After that, go to Storage and check the row of lockers to the back til you find the strange liquid. Return to your room and change the TV channels until Baby Boy appears. Give him the liquid and get invited to his room for the next day.
This achievement is also the prerequisite for ‘Screw This’, which in turn acts as the first step for one of the endings, ‘Love Is in the Air’. On the other hand, returning the note to Chloe does not affect anything at all, apart from getting thanked on the spot. Either do so or skip it at your will.
Steal the master key.
This achievement unlocks as you pick up the master key from the Reception drawer. Unmissable.
Day 4
– Go to Room 216 to get your stuff back and talk to Jacqueline.
> Get into Room 213, talk to Baby Boy and get the screwdriver from the table. (Screw This)
– Return to White Corridor, check Lemon’s Room and watch the broadcast.
– Attend the farewell held in Event Space and talk to Frank as well as Jacqueline.
– Meet up with Jacqueline at the back of Ballroom to learn about her plan.
– Get the vial of talc from Lab #4 and the vial of plaster from Lab #2, then go to Staff Passage.
– Give the items in question to Jacqueline and get #207 executive key in return.
– Get into Room 207, check the balcony and hide in the bushes when prompted.
– Go to Room 216 and get #204 executive key from Jacqueline.
! Once in Room 204, go directly to the balcony and through the trapdoor. (5: Baby Food)
LOAD: DAY 4
Make your way to Room 204 once more, without picking up the screwdriver.
– Once in Room 204, get the pills from the bathroom drawer and interact with Frank’s glass.
– When given the choice, opt to hide.
Get the screwdriver.
This achievement requires you to feed Baby Boy the previous day (‘Feed It’ on Day 3). Drop by Room 213 as per his invitation and get the screwdriver that appears on the table after the talk; opening the way for ‘Baby Food’ (also on Day 4) and ‘Love Is in the Air’ (on Last Day: Confront).
Get the 5th ending.
The earliest ending you can get requires you to possess the screwdriver (‘Feed It’ on Day 3, then ‘Screw This’ on this day). Supposing you have that, once you gain access to Room 204 through usual progression, step out to the balcony and go through the trapdoor found on the corner.
For the curious, no, it is not possible to open the trapdoor on Last Day (Confront), as a certain individual relaxing within the room in question prevents you from doing so.
—
‘No matter how hard the mind tries, the body remembers. You can’t hide from the truth.’
The final scene of the day that plays out in Room 204 ends up with a choice. Going with the first option (Tell him the truth.) > ‘And why the hell am I being tested?’ loads Last Day (Confront) next, while picking the other one leads to Last Day (Hide).
It is recommended to play the Hide variant first, as it is shorter and more straightforward.
As a third option, this scene offers another chance to get ‘Slow Death’ through certain dialogue choices (not recommended, as this day is longer to replay than Day 2). If need be, first opt for confrontation when given the choice, then go through the dialogue in this order: (Tell him the truth.) > ‘Okay, so where’s my price then?’ > ‘I don’t appreciate you either.’
Last Day (Hide)
– Get on the wheelchair. When the ride is over, enter End Corridor.
> Once in No Purpose Room, find Pearl waiting to the left and talk to her. (Pearl)
– Get into Storage #2 and relax. Waking up, talk to Jacqueline and learn about her plan.
> Enter the airducts through Vent #2, wait until time runs out and exit. (You’ve Been Caught)
LOAD: LAST DAY (HIDE)
Make your way to the airducts once more.
– Beat the maze, turn off the switch in Secret Room and return to Jacqueline under seven minutes.
! As suggested, get the raygun from Lab #2 and proceed to Passage through Lab #1. (2: Breakdown)
– Go to Room 216 to get your stuff back and talk to Jacqueline.
> Drop by Room 205, show your affection to Carlos and get kissed. (Carlos: pre 4/4)
> Get into Room 213, talk to Baby Boy and get the screwdriver from the table.
> Go to Room 212, compliment Hazel’s outfit and give her the vintage film camera. (Hazel: pre 3/3)
Make your way to Room 204 as before.
– Once in Room 204, get the pills from the bathroom drawer and interact with Frank’s glass.
– When given the choice, opt to confront (and tell the truth).
She is not real.
Stepping into No Purpose Room, look for Pearl in the blue-lit corner to the left and talk to her. This achievement can be also be unlocked on Last Day (Confront), as the room remains open.
They got you, after all.
Get the 2nd ending.
Progression through this day requires you to enter the airducts through Ventilator #2, reach the secret room via beating the maze, turn off the switch and return to Jacqueline in seven minutes.
Failing to do so within the time limit, fooling around within the complex without ever climbing into the ducts for the duration or not complying with the instructions of Jacqueline results in being shot, thus unlocking the achievement ‘You’ve Been Caught’ (which also restarts the day).
On the other hand, sticking to Jacquline’s plan grants you the second ending, Breakdown.
As an extra, here is how to proceed through the maze, in case help is needed:
– From that second corner, get through the yellow-lit room that can be seen to the left.
– Coming across three paths, take the one to the right.
– Offered another choice of two shortly after, take the right one and follow it to the end.
End of the road. The remaining endings are not possible to get through this variant of Last Day.
Last Day (Confront)
> Get down to the first floor and opt to go through Passage. (Fool Me Twice)
LOAD: LAST DAY (CONFRONT)
! Beat the maze, turn off the switch in Secret Room and go through Passage. (3: The Big Escape)
LOAD: LAST DAY (CONFRONT)
– Get into your room, have a shower and read the mysterious letter.
– Make your way to Storage #2, search the cabinets and get the bunker keys.
> Go to Question Marked Room (through Purple Room) and interact with the TV. (Say Cheese: pre 1/3)
> Go back upstairs and get the VHS player found in Room 203. (Say Cheese: pre 2/3)
– Talk to Yvonne in Lounge #1, forgive and be honest with her so that you learn about her wish.
> Talk to Luther in Memphis Bar, ask for another lemonade and drink it. (Total Lemonade!)
– Talk to Luther once more, ask for another drink and get the booze from the counter.
– Give the booze to Yvonne, leave the lounge for a sec and re-enter, then proceed to Bunker.
> Get the videotape found in the second room behind the bunker door. (Say Cheese: pre 3/3)
– Feed Baby Boy, check on Jacqueline and get the generator inner gate key she offers.
> Return to Question Marked Room, set up the VHS player and watch the videotape. (Say Cheese)
! Get into Generator, unlock the inner gate and turn on the switch. (1: Permanent Vacation)
Get zapped twice.
Now that you have a top level card, try your chances with Passage. Obviously, restarts the day.
Get the 3rd ending.
For the third ending, first get into the airducts via Ventilator #2 and turn off the switch in Secret Room (as in ‘Breakdown’). Then unlock the door to Passage and simply follow the path.
Drink all of it.
This one requires progression from Days 1 and 2, i.e. you should drink the lemonade on offer in their respective days. In that case, drop by Memphis Bar and opt for lemonade once again when asked, then interact with the drink that appears on the bar.
Watch the VHS tape.
Get into the previously unreachable Question Marked Room (through Purple Room, next to Tech) and interact with the TV found within. Go back upstairs and get the VHS player from the shelf to the left in Room 203. Once you have access to Bunker through daily progression, be sure to pick up the videotape laying on top of a box as you pass through the second room after the door to that area. Finally, return to Question Marked Room, connect the VHS player and watch the tape.
Get the 1st ending.
The first (and quite possibly canon) ending, ‘Permanent Vacation’, is always available on this day (alongside the third one, ‘Breakdown’) as it does not have any requirements like the others.
Going by the hint given through the letter that appears in your room, first search the cabinets in Storage #2 to find the bunker keys. With the keys at hand, talk to Yvonne in Lounge #1 and be honest with her to learn about her craving. ‘Not really. It’s not your fault.’ > ‘I’m always honest.’ > ‘Yeah, I did.’ or ‘No way.’ (Depending on your action from Day 4.)
Ask Luther for another drink besides your regular lemonade and grab the booze from the counter. Give the drink to Yvonne and leave the lounge for a second so that she passes out on the sofa. In the bunker, grant Baby Boy’s wish and get the generator inner gate key offered by Jacqueline. Finally, return to 2F and get into Generator to turn on the switch locked behind the inner gate.
Last Day (Confront)
(Continued from the previous section due to Steam’s character limit.)
! Go to Room 215, interact with the outlet, then switch on the machinery. (4: Love Is in the Air)
LOAD: LAST DAY (CONFRONT)
! Talk to Carlos in Room 205 and go with his flow, then proceed to Control Room. (7: Carlos)
LOAD: LAST DAY (CONFRONT)
! Talk to Hazel in Room 212 and ask for her opinion, then confess your love. (6: Hazel)
Get the 4th ending.
As with the fifth one, the fourth ending requires you to possess the screwdriver (‘Feed It’ on Day 3, then ‘Screw This’ on Day 4). Supposing you have it, get into Room 215 and interact with the outlet cover found on the backside of the machinery. After that, turn the device on via its screen.
Get the 7th ending.
The seventh ending is simply a matter of accepting Carlos’ offer on this day, yet it requires you to build up a steady relationship with him through careful dialogue choices starting from Day 1 and going all the way up to Day 4.
Find him in Office Space on Day 1 and keep this initial talk friendly. Look for him in Bathroom M (2F) on Day 2 and show him your affection to get invited to his room for the next day. Drop by his room (205) on Day 3 to flirt a little and get invited once more. Finally, knock on his door on Day 4 to show him some love and get kissed in return.
Considering all the steps up to this point are taken, on this day he should be waiting for you in his room with an offer in mind. Accept that offer and proceed to Control Room as per his request.
Day 2: ‘Really good to see you too, bro!’ > ‘You’re not bothering me at all, Carlos..’
Day 3: ‘Uf.. I mean, I didn’t mind seeing them..’ >
‘Maybe you need to do more to make up for it, you know? ;)’
Day 4: ‘I didn’t like it, I loved it!’ >
‘Oh my God, I’m so happy to hear that, my sweet Carlos!’
Day 5: ‘I am, now that I see you.’ > ‘Yeah, sounds good to me.’ >
‘I’m in, I’d do anything you tell me.’
Get the 6th ending.
As with Carlos’, Hazel’s ending requires building up a relationship with her through dialogue from Day 2 to Day 4. Luckily, she keeps to her room (212) all throughout your stay in the complex.
For the initial meeting, step into her room and surprise her as she is having a shower on Day 2. Progression through Day 3 takes you to her no matter what, yet you should apologize for the previous day during the talk and learn about her love of photography. On Day 4, you need to compliment her outfit and give her the vintage film camera as a present (look for it either in the lockers found in Storage on Day 3 or in the lockers found in Laundry on Day 4).
If all the mentioned steps are taken, she opens up to you on this day, telling about her desire to leave it all behind. Go with her flow and confess your love when the moment is right.
Day 3: ‘Totally..! I’m so sorry for that.’ > ‘Ha! What I can say? You got me.’ >
‘Oh, so you like cake too?’
Day 4: ‘Sure. great outfit, by the way.’ > ‘I actually found one! Do you want it?’
Day 5: ‘So how would you prefer to spend our time, then?’ >
‘So do you know a way out that I don’t?..’ > ‘I love you too.’
