5. Endure and Survive

8. That’s all I got
Survive all of Ellie’s jokes
There are a total of 6 sets of Jokes that Ellie will tell throughout the main game and Left Behind DLC. These jokes usually require some setup and waiting around to trigger. In the Chapter Select menu, they will be listed as Optional Conversations rather than Jokes.
9. Something to Fight For
Find all training manuals
There are a total of 12 Training Manuals scattered throughout the main game. These manuals serve as collectables that can be picked up as you progress. Each manual provides upgrades to your gear, such as stronger melee weapons or enhanced healing abilities.
10. Combat Ready
Fully upgrade a weapon
Weapons can be upgraded at Workbenches found throughout the game, utilising scrap pieces collected during gameplay. It’s important to note that you only need to fully upgrade one weapon, which should occur naturally if you concentrate your upgrades rather than spreading them thinly across multiple weapons or ignoring scrap collection. Many shiv doors you unlock contain 25-50 scrap, reducing the need for extensive scavenging.
The best weapon to fully upgrade is the Revolver, requiring only 155 scrap parts. Keep in mind that upgrading weapons to higher tiers necessitates having Workbench Tools.
11. Master of Unlocking
Break into every locked door using shivs
There are a total of 13 Shiv Doors scattered throughout the main game. These doors can be opened by using a shiv, which will break it, but grant you access to a room filled with supplies and occasionally collectables. It’s crucial to keep some shivs with you, as using them all for stealth kills may prevent you from opening some doors later on.
12. Prepared For the Worst
Find all workbenches
There are a total of 11 Workbenches scattered throughout the main game where you can upgrade your weapons. These Workbenches are usually found along your main path, sometimes tucked away in side rooms. You don’t necessarily have to upgrade any weapons for these Workbenches to count; simply interacting with them is sufficient for progress tracking.
13. Sticky Fingers
Open All Safes
There are a total of 4 Safes scattered throughout the main game. These Safes can be unlocked by inputting the correct combination code, usually found on an artefact in the same area. Inside the Safes, you’ll find various supplies and occasionally other collectables. It’s important to grab all items within each safe to ensure they register.
14. Sharpest Tool in the Shed
Find all workbench tools
There are a total of 5 Workbench Tools scattered throughout the main game. These tools enable you to upgrade your weapons at Workbenches to higher levels. Unlike other collectable types, Workbench Tools are not tracked in Chapter Select. They can be picked up like normal collectables and are typically found in red toolboxes.
15. Build Em Up, Break Em Down
Upgrade and then break one of every melee weapon
Throughout the game, you’ll encounter various melee weapons. Starting from Bill’s Town, you can upgrade these melee weapons using Binding and Blades to grant them instant kill attacks and increased durability, with 1-3 extra attacks depending on how many training manuals you’ve collected.
To register the upgrades, you’ll need to upgrade each melee weapon and then break off the upgrade by using it to kill enemies. Blunt weapons are found throughout the entire game, but they’re more prevalent in early chapters, while sharp weapons start appearing in later levels.
16. Fallen Firefly
Find a Firefly pendant
You need to find 1 of the 30 Firefly Pendants scattered throughout the main game.
17. Self Help
Find one training manual
You need to collect 1 of the 13 training manuals that you’ll find throughout the main game.
18. Savage Starlight Fan
Find a comic
You need to find 1 of the 12 Comics that are scattered throughout the main game.
19. Geared Up
Craft every item
There are six items that you can craft throughout the game, utilizing various supplies found in the world. Each item requires multiple components to craft. You’ll gain the ability to craft all items starting from Pittsburgh onwards in the game.
20. In Memorium
Pick up Frank’s note after it’s discarded
Upon reaching the end of Bill’s Town, you’ll arrive at a house with a vehicle. Inside, there’s a back room where you can find a note. If you pick up this note and give it to Bill, he will throw it on the ground, allowing you to grab it again. Each of these interactions counts as a collectible.
21. Lights Out
While in stealth, turn off the spotlight generator in Pittsburgh.
At the end of Pittsburgh, you’ll encounter a hunter checkpoint. To proceed, sneak up to the first two guards and perform a stealth kill on one while Henry takes care of the other. Afterwards, navigate behind the barriers in a clockwise direction while avoiding detection by the searchlight. Be cautious of a hunter patrolling near the generator; wait until he moves out of range before sneaking up to disable the generator.
22. Waterlogged
Ride the sewer contraption with Henry and Sam
Inside the sewers, you’ll come across a room filled with water and a contraption in the centre. Your objective is to retrieve a wooden pallet to assist Ellie in crossing the water so she can activate the generator. Once the generator is turned on, the sewer contraption will automatically start moving across the room with Henry and Sam aboard. After moving Ellie to the generator, swiftly swim over to Henry and Sam, and board the contraption before it moves away.
23. Left Hanging
Leave Ellie hanging after a job well done
Near the beginning of Tommy’s Dam, you’ll encounter a section where you need to raise a dam gate to cross the water. After retrieving a wooden pallet and helping Ellie across, she will raise the gate for you to proceed. When Ellie asks for a high five, simply ignore her request and continue on with the mission.
24. Who’s A Good Boy?
Pet Buckley the dog
During Tommy’s tour of the dam, as you traverse across the top of the dam towards another building, you’ll encounter Buckley the dog chewing on a ball. Take a moment to interact with Buckley and give him the attention you didn’t give Ellie earlier.
25. Nobody’s Perfect
Played the Jak X game in Left Behind
Upon reaching Raja’s Arcade, enter the establishment and proceed to the back left corner where you’ll find a Jak X racing machine. Interact with the machine to initiate a short scene and unlock the associated achievement. Be sure to do this before interacting with The Turning arcade machine, as interacting with it will advance the game.
26. Brick Master
Win the brick throwing contest
After navigating through the Halloween store, Riley will challenge you to a brick throwing contest. Your objective is to destroy all seven windows on the red car before Riley destroys all seven windows on the blue car. To succeed, gather bricks in the area and take your time to aim carefully at the closest window. It’s crucial not to rush; missing a throw will waste more time than taking a moment to aim properly. Work around the car counter-clockwise, and you should have ample time to complete the task.
27. Angel Knives
Defeat Black Fang without getting hit
Upon arriving at Raja’s Arcade, engage with The Turning arcade machine situated on the right. This prompts an imaginary fight with Black Fang, which consists of a sequence of quick time events where you need to input what is displayed on the screen. The timing for these inputs is quite forgiving, so ensure to follow the prompts accurately and avoid rushing to prevent making incorrect inputs.
28. Skillz
Win the water gun fight
Right after Raja’s Arcade, Riley will challenge you to a water gun fight. Initially, both of you will just soak each other, but afterwards, it will become a best-of-3 match where Riley hides and the first person to hit the other wins the round. Be sure to load your water gun while searching for Riley, and maintain stealth while keeping an eye and ear out for her. As soon as you spot her, quickly blast her with your water gun.
29. Live Bait
Use bricks or bottles to lure an infected into attacking a human
In the second to last chapter of Left Behind, there are several encounters where both humans and infected are present in the same room, allowing for third-party interactions. While this can be done in any encounter after the first one, it’s easiest to achieve immediately after going through the ventilation shafts.
You’ll find yourself on a ledge with several bricks and bottles, with infected below and hunters entering the area. Throw a brick or bottle between the groups, and they will engage in combat. To trigger the achievement, a hunter must be killed during the conflict. If the hunters eliminate all infected without being attacked, simply reload the checkpoint or attempt it in a later encounter.
