Thaumaturge Builds I found on, now deceased, Neocore Games forum. Don’t ask me question about them, I didn’t made them. I just wanted to share them for futur players.
Disclaimer
I did not made them, so i’ll be unable to answer any question
Ray Of Awesome
Ray Of Awesome is my kinda way to deal with stuff . Kill everything , dont care about them stacks , WIPE ZE MAP , etc etc .
So basicly Ray of Awesome is Ray of Entropy , but before you scale high in level to have and sunstain this skill (As you can see the skill is pretty much endless spam ) , you will have to learn some other skills first .
Energy Bolt + 2 passives
This your auto-attack you will use this until you get awesome . (With bolt of swarm you get massive at early levels after that you can remove that rage spender and use it only with the passives) .
Ice Shards + 2 passives
This skill is temporary again until you get ray of awesome . (+50% dmg and penetration its quite a mob cleaner in the early stage).
RAY OF AWESOME (entropy) – Max it + 2 passives
You choose the active you want really ( I propose +50%dmg or +50 Healing if you have problems at certain stages of the game , gear dependant )
This skill will rock your world , kills everything , while you smoke , shower , sleep , eat , even afk .Basicly hold down a key and voila , something died ! Scales well with levels , got amazing passive ( 5% lifesteal + 30% damage reduction while channeling – AMAZING )
Arcane + Cold = Overpowered .
The only downside is to spam this 24/7 you gotta have good mana pool , mana regen and mana cost reduction . Which is not a big problem in the mid/late game.
Max Mana – Level 5
To get to the passive increased 30% mana regen when you are bellow 25% mana .
Elemental Damage – Level 10
No comment , amazing dmg booster + passives are quite good infact I recommend “Elemental Expertise” .
Focus Damage – Level 10 + Arcane passive
Try not to invest in the other passive . Great Booster , MAX .
Bodybuilding – Level 1 to 5
Good skill use if you dont have the life pool to survive .
Improved Arcane Power – Level 10 + 2 passives
AMAZING . Nothing more to say , moar DMG and POWA .
Frost Adept
30% more Ice dmg , You love this one . + the passive frost expertise (Which works on ray of awesome)
Aura of Defiance
1 point Wonder .
Ice Sage – Level 5
if you can do go for more – Its pure dmg .
Painlesssssnesss
You feel no pain for 3 seconds – 1 point wonder . Life saver
Ghastly Shape
Get out of nasty situations . 1 point wonder . Life saver
Pretty simple here its not a pvp build so I walk with 2400 HP and ALL POINTS ON WILLPOWER .
“You mad bro ? How do you live ?” – Ray of awesome + decent gear does the trick . Damage is all I need.
Ive played around for hours and to tell you , Unique and Sets are not so huge … Ive had 50-100 unique / set drops (2 full stash pages) and I run only 3 uniques atm .
Magmaforge Staff lvl 55 , Saffi Improved Medalion lvl 40 , Helix Boots lvl 50
Others are simple rare , yellow , trash from ground , garbage.
The Undying Ice Mage
Ok ok. Thaumaturges are widely known for being badasses anyway but that saying specificly describes this beast. He can kill pretty much anything while nothing can kill him. Sounds awesome right? Now, the build is quite popular and there are more than one way to make an ice mage, but this build is my favorite because it combines total annihilation and invincibility.
Strength – 0
Dexterity – 0
Willpower – all
Luck – 0
Filler skill: Any skill that cost only one (1) skill point per level. Examples are Spirit Bolts, Firewall, etc.
Core skill: Self-explanatory. Part of the build.
Ice Shards/Shard Spray [core skill]
Your bread and butter skill at lower levels. It remains incredibly effective against critters in end game (like those annoying bats). Spammable.
Glacial Shards: Slows enemies. Great synergy with Icicle Swarm.
Icicle Swarm [core skill]
The one skill that makes this build awesome. It’s like Spirit Bolts, except they’re ice missles, 10 times stronger, and they come in 5 (11 with the right powerup). Yep. Totally overkill if you ask me. +25% damage when paired with Glacial Shards.
Jagged Icicles: More damage. Can’t hurt.
Max Mana [core skill]
More mp = faster regen, and we want ~300 mp regen. It’s cheap so max it.
Improve Arcane Might/Arcan Mantle.Arcane Pendulum [core skill]
More power.
This is how you become invincible. All core skills.
Sluggish TIme/Peace of Mind
Matrix mode. In this mode, you become Neo, who can see projectiles coming at you at the speed of a snail. Also +5% damage.
Painlessness
Invincible for a fixed duration. Use this when you’re swarmed or taking a lot of hits. 6 points for 5 second.
Mantle of Invincibility/Shimmering Mantle
8-10 points. I find 10 hits sufficient enough to stay alive. 12 is better of course. Up to you.
Quick Response
6-max.
Let you abuse the tricks by lowering cool down (CD) time of all tricks. I go with 6.
Frost Adept
6 points is the “sweet spot”. Start putting points in filler skills afterwards.
Aura of Counterbalance
Because I like Katarina.
Everything’s in order? Great! Now put points in all filler skills until you reach 100% mastery
Kind of important as this build benefits most from -CD and %dmg and mp regen.
- Veteran Hunter
- Master Hunter
- Master, Teacher
- Mentor
- Fortune’s Favorite Son
- Focused
- Focused II
- Perfect Aim
- Perfect Aim II
- Enchanted Body
- Enchanted Body II
- Slayer
- Chilling
- Spirit Guide
- Magically Attuned
- Elementalist
- Uncanny Fighter
- Windwalker.
Saffi’s Medalion. -CD, and being the only way to obtain life leech on a thaumaturge. Mostly for the -CD.
Celestus: All attributes, 10% damage, spellpower, 5% crit chance. Can’t dream of a better pair of spellcuffs.
Runecrafted gear with:
- willpower
- spellpower
- crit chance
- %ice dmg
- %damage (on applicable items like trophy, headgear, amulet)
- body
- dodge, defense, resistance, etc. He never gets hit anyway so these are only icing on the cake.
You can never go wrong with a buff ghost Katarina. Max all her buffs, max her willpower and give her +willpower gear and never mess with her again.
That said, a ranged support Katarina is a lot more fun to look at. Her dmg buff is impressive too. Here’s a copy/paste version of my Katarina build in another thread (it works as long as your VH is a willpower build):
- give Kat ranged weapons with % kill on hit to trigger her buffs.
- give her +attack speed items so her buffs trigger more often.
- give her +will items to boost your own will.
- put 1 skill point into Aura of Counterbalance and turn auto-powerup on to heal Kat constantly.
Turn on auto-powerup. Activate Mantle of Invincibility. Spam sluggish time for crowd control. Cycle between Sluggish Time, Painlessness and Mantle to survive.
