“Looking to get The Great Slime Mitosis achievement in Terraria? All you need to do is find and move in all the Slime Pets! These adorable town pets don’t affect NPC happiness and even count towards Pylon requirements and decrease enemy spawn rates. There are 8 unique town slimes to unlock, each with its own method. Let’s dive in and get that achievement!”
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
A house (or home) is a structure built by the player that town NPCs require in order to spawn, with one house required per NPC.
The player can check if a structure meets the requirements by using the Housing Menu’s[terraria.fandom.com] top button, labeled with a question mark (“?”).
VALID HOUSE:
1. Nerdy Slime
Moves in after killing King Slime.
The Nerdy Slime requires killing King Slime again if he has already been defeated on a world prior to 1.4.4.
2. Cool Slime
May move in during naturally generated Parties.
Party has a random 1/10 (10%) chance of occurring at any particular dawn (“thrown” by one to three NPCs), without the need for a placed Party Center.
The Cool Slime cannot spawn during a party started with a Party Center.
3. Elder Slime
Moves in after beating Skeletron and unlocking an Old Shaking Chest in the Cavern Layer with a Golden Key. Detectable with the Lifeform Analyzer.
Golden Keys can be acquired by:
Finding one in an unlocked normal Chest in the Dungeon.
Killing a Dungeon Slime (100% chance).
Killing any other Dungeon enemy (1/65 chance).
Breaking a Pot in the Dungeon (1/40 chance).
The Old Shaking Chest is a rare entity that can be found in the Cavern layer after Skeletron has been defeated. It resembles a Chest and hops around like a slime, attempting to reach the player. It does not damage the player nor take damage from them, but it does take damage from enemies.
How it looks like:
4. Clumsy Slime
Can be found as a Clumsy Balloon Slime near floating islands in the Space Layer which must be shot down. Detectable with the Lifeform Analyzer.
Space is the layer making up the top of the world, above the Surface. Gravity is decreased in Space, which means the player can jump higher and will fall slower, similar to the Featherfall Potion effect.
The Clumsy Balloon Slime Appearance:
5. Diva Slime
Moves in after throwing a Sparkle Slime Balloon into Shimmer.
The Sparkle Slime Balloon is a Hardmode novelty consumable item.
Queen Slime always drops 25–75 balloons upon her defeat.
A world permanently converts to Hardmode after the Wall of Flesh boss is defeated for the first time.
Sparkle Slime Balloon Appearance:
Shimmer is a shiny, pearlescent liquid found in the Aether, a mini-biome which generates in the Underground or Cavern layer, always on the same side of the world as the Jungle.
Shimmer can only be found naturally in worlds created in v1.4.4 (and later).
Aether Cave Biome Appearance:
Queen Slime can be spawned in the Hallow by using a Gelatin Crystal – if used outside the Hallow, nothing will happen and the item will not be consumed.
The Gelatin Crystal can be found on Pearlstone or Pink Ice Blocks in the Underground Hallow.
The Gelatin Crystal Appearance:
6. Surly Slime
Can be fished up during a Blood Moon. Name appears when using Sonar Potion.
A Blood Moon is a random event that takes place at night, from 7:30 PM to 4:30 AM, affecting only the surface layer. A Blood Moon can also be initiated when the player uses a Bloody Tear.
Bloody Tear is dropped from the Blood Moon enemies.
7. Mystic Slime
Moves in after using Purification Powder on a Mystic Frog in the Jungle surface. Detectable with the Lifeform Analyzer.
Purification Powder is able to revert any Corrupted or Crimson Blocks, but not walls, back into their pure form.
It is purchased from the Dryad for 75 Copper Coins each, while Blood Moon is not active.
Purification Powder Appearance:
The Mystic Frog is a Critter that spawns in the Jungle with a 3.33% (1/30) chance to spawn in place of a regular Frog.
8. Squire Slime
The Squire Slime cannot actually hit enemies, as referenced in its bestiary entry.
The Squire Slime can only be transformed on most smaller, normal slimes. Gastropod[terraria.fandom.com] and the Hoppin’ Jack[terraria.fandom.com] (which is not a slime) will not work, but statue-spawned ones will. Transforming the slime will destroy the item used.
