Welcome to my guide for achieving 100% perfection in Stardew Valley version 1.6.11. With this guide, I’ll walk you through the game step by step, all without any mods or modifications. I’m writing this guide as I play, so it may not be complete right away. But don’t worry, I’ll do my best to keep it spoiler-free. And if you do come across any spoilers, I’ll make sure to mark them as such. I’m creating this guide for myself, but I hope it can also help others on their journey to perfection. I’m a bit of an optimization freak, so I’m always restarting days to be as efficient as possible. This guide is my own version, as many others are out of date. If you have any tips or recommendations, feel free to share them in the comments and I’ll add them to the guide. Keep in mind, while I’ll try to get as many achievements in one playthrough as
☆ GUIDES THAT I RECOMMEND ☆
Stardew Valley: Beginners and Experts guide
By lildevilbunny
☆ IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE ☆
this guide is intended to be followed on a new save, but you are more than welcome to follow it on your existing saves as well! i can’t promise that you’ll be able to stay on pace with this one though.
that’s all that i can think of right now, but this guide is a WIP and will be expanding as i think of new things to add!
☆ BEST VILLAGERS TO BEFRIEND EARLY ON ☆
some helpful links:
friendship[stardewvalleywiki.com]
gifts per villager[stardewvalleywiki.com] (including universal gift tastes)
caroline[stardewvalleywiki.com]
- gifts (sent via mailbox): cauliflower, parsnip, potato
- recipes (sent via mailbox): 3 HEARTS – parsnip soup, 7 HEARTS vegetable medley
- heart event recipe (sent the next day via mailbox): 2 HEARTS – enter caroline’s sunroom between 9AM & 5PM on a non-rainy day to unlock access to her sunroom. the next day she’ll send you the TEA SAPLING recipe[stardewvalleywiki.com].
IMPORTANT NOTE: you (most likely) will not be able to plant your tea sapling early enough for it to mature (it takes 20 days) and collect the tea leaves in spring, but that’s okay! you can still collect the tea leaves from caroline’s sunroom when they become harvestable. i’d try to plant it by the end of spring so it’ll be mature and ready to harvest by summer! for more information, click the link provided
IMPORTANT NOTE 2: also, tea saplings make some pretty decent money! they got nerfed in the 1.6 update, but considering how easy they are to craft, i think it’s still worth the investment if you need a bit of extra cash

☆ SECRET ROOMMATE ☆
krobus[stardewvalleywiki.com]
– the shadow person living in pelican town’s sewer
i’ve almost reached the character limit, so for info on this secret companion, check out their wiki :3
☆ BASIC TIPS & REMINDERS ☆
1. television[stardewvalleywiki.com] – check the TV everyday when you wake up! the different channels include:
- weather report (daily) – will give you tomorrow’s weather[stardewvalleywiki.com]. will give ginger island weather report after unlocking it
- fortune teller (daily) – will give you today’s daily luck[stardewvalleywiki.com]
- livin’ off the land[stardewvalleywiki.com] (mon & thur) – gives tips about farming, fishing, foraging or town life
- the queen of sauce[stardewvalleywiki.com] –
- F.I.B.S.[stardewvalleywiki.com] (daily i think) – UNLOCKED AFTER COMPLETING PAM’S special order “the strong stuff”
- ???[stardewvalleywiki.com] fall 26 on standard farm – requires turning children into doves
2. save at least 2 of every item you come across. some items can be used for community center bundles or help wanted quests!
3. don’t sell any of your resources! besides shipping 1 for the full shipment achievement, save the rest of your resources.
4. don’t worry about the debris all on day 1, just clear a path to each entrance of your farm and where you plan to plant your crops, then clear it out as needed! cutting trees (leave the stumps) provided a good amount of foraging EXP and mining rocks provides 1 mining EXP, if you’d like to prioritize those. when you run out of energy and still have some time left before you go to bed, use your scythe to cut as many weeds as you can since it doesn’t cost energy.
5. dig through trash cans (when nobody’s looking)! you can get some really really good stuff from them! i find that the saloon, 1 river road, the blacksmith and the museum cans usually have the best stuff! check the jojamart trash can if you plan to romance sam 😉 it usually has a joja cola in it (which is one of his liked gifts). after digging through at least 20 garbage cans, there’s a 0.2% chance of obtaining the garbage hat and digging through at least 50 garbage cans, there’s a 0.2% chance of obtaining the trash catalogue.
6. don’t cut all of your grass until you build a silo! with a silo, all that grass will be turned into hay which can be used to feed your animals! it’s okay to cut some of it, but make sure to leave a small patch for some to grow and spread!
7. check the calendar! it has valuable information such as birthdays & festivals! and make sure not to plant any seeds too late into the season or else they’ll die before you can harvest them
8. visit the traveling merchant! on fridays and sundays, she will come visit with a rotating stock (although it’s very expensive). i make it a goal to save between 1000g-5000g to buy a rare seed from her (100% chance for 1-5 to appear every visit during spring and summer) there’s a 1.26% chance that she will sell 1-5 for 600g-1000g each (may appear ANY season and can occupy two slots in spring and summer). once fall rolls around, you have until the 4th to plant them. the crop they produce sells for a whopping 3000g and one is needed to collect a stardrop from the statue in the secret woods
9. make friends! talking to the townsfolk, giving them gifts they like/love (especially on their birthdays), and doing help wanted quests are wonderful ways to raise friendships! there’s a lot of benefits to making friends, and it’s not hard to maintain. one normal interaction is +20 points, +10 if the villager is in a special animation (ex: shane working at jojamart). a liked gift is +45 points, a loved is +80 (with an 8x effect when gifted on their birthday). quality of an item can increase the point value! and help wanted quests provide +150 points (as well as a money reward and eventually, prize tickets
10. save your money for strawberry/blueberry/cranberry seeds (and rare seeds too, of course!) these are cash crops that will make you BANK. i’ll make a guide with the best crops for each season & crops needed for the pantry bundles
11. don’t worry about buying animals or house upgrades from robin early on. they’re super expensive and you will be okay focusing on other things instead. i recommend building a silo, mill, and as many fish ponds as you can afford (especially if you dislike fishing)
12. to be continued…
☆ STARTING A NEW SAVE ☆
YOUR NAME, GENDER, CLOTHES & APPEARANCE, & FAVORITE THING:
- you will not be able to change these things for awhile, so make sure you’re happy with them!
YOUR FARM TYPE:[stardewvalleywiki.com]
TL;DR: i’d recommend the standard farm for beginners, forest or hill-top farm for new and seasoned players and the four corners or beach farm for multiplayer sessions, seasoned players or those looking for a challenge! otherwise, choose your farm type based on your favorite skill or one you struggle with
NOTE: if you’re doing a jojamart run, i’d recommend the beach farm since fishing is a really good money maker
my reasoning for recommended spouses will be in the comments if you’re interested 😉
currently, there are 8 different farm types available for you to choose, the newest one being the meadowlands farm (introduced in version 1.6) i will list each farm type with a rating out of 10 and the pros & cons
- standard farm – 7.5/10
–
SKILL: farming
RECOMMENDED SPOUSE: any!PROS:
- lots of open space for farming and decorating
- good for beginners/new players
CONS:
- not much else to offer
- riverland farm 6/10
–
SKILL: fishing
RECOMMENDED SPOUSE: leah, elliottPROS:
- start with a fish smoker
- can catch various types of fish from the comfort of your own farm!
- 70% of the time you’ll catch town fish, 30% of the time you’ll catch forest fish (pond and river)
- bubble spots are enabled
CONS:
- hard to navigate
- not much farming or building space
- the beach farm is a much better option if you like fishing
- forest farm 10/10
–
SKILL: foraging
RECOMMENDED SPOUSE: abigail, leah, maru, penny, harvey, shane, krobusPROS:
- lots of berry bushes are available
- left side of farm spawns 8 renewable large stumps everyday
NOTE: the stumps won’t be breakable until you upgrade your axe to copper, but it’s a very very reliable source of foraging EXP and hardwood - special weeds that always drop mixed seeds
- seasonal forage items (25% chance each) which consists of –
– spring: dandelion, leek, morel, wild horseradish
– summer: common mushroom, grape, spice berry, sweet pea
– fall: chanterelle, common mushroom, purple mushroom, red mushroom - 5% chance of catching a woodskip[stardewvalleywiki.com] (modified by daily luck), which is exclusive to the secret woods[stardewvalleywiki.com] pond
- 45% chance of catching forest fish (pond and river) otherwise it’s trash
CONS:
- not a lot farming or decorating space
- hill-top farm 8/10
–
SKILL: mining
RECOMMENDED SPOUSE: emily, maru, harvey, sam, sebastianPROS:
- comes with a farm quarry that scales based on your mining level
NOTE: can sometimes be blocked by a large stump, log or a boulder. if this happens, make a new save because it will be awhile before you can access the quarry - can catch forest river fish (50% of the time it’ll be trash)
CONS:
- a bit difficult to navigate due to hills
- not a lot of farming or decorating space
- comes with a farm quarry that scales based on your mining level
- wilderness farm 7/10
–
SKILL: combat
RECOMMENDED SPOUSE: abigail, alex, sebastianPROS:
- spawns more wilderness golems than other farms
- (EXCLUSIVE to this farm) at combat lvl 9+ there’s a 50% chance of iridium golems spawning and drop iridium ore & seeds from seed spots
- 35% of the time you will catch mountain lake fish
- decent amount of farmland and space for decorating
CONS:
- you can spawn monsters on any of the farms, it’s usually just toggled off but wilderness and iridium golems are have pretty decent drops at least
- four corners farm 8.5/10
–
SKILL: a bit of everything!
RECOMMENDED SPOUSE: maru, farmhandPROS:
- best map for multiplayer
- renewable large stump
- unique weeds from the forest farm
- 50% chance of catching forest pond fish
- mini quarry the scales on mining level
CONS:
- not much farming or decorating area
- a bit difficult to navigate
- difficult to manage on singleplayer (unless you’re looking for a challenge!)
- beach farm 9.5/10
–
SKILL: foraging & fishing
RECOMMENDED SPOUSE: haley, alex, elliott, samPROS:
- decent for multiplayer
- supply crates with loot that scales base on house upgrade
- seasonal forage for both forest & beach
- can collect out of season beach foragables (rainbow and nautilus shells)
NOTE: i can’t find very much information about beach foragables on the wiki, so i’ll make a list of what i’ve seen in my playthroughs and what i’ve found on the wiki, in the comments - 52.73% chance of catching ocean fish, 15% chance of catching seaweed, 5.1% chance of catching oyster, coral, mussel, or cockle (equal chance for each), 27.17% chance to catch trash
- lots of open space for farming and decorating
CONS:
- SPRINKLERS DON’T WORK IN THE SAND
NOTE: if you choose this map, i would recommend focusing less on farming and more on mining, that way you can upgrade your watering can and axe to clear out the logs blocking the normal farmland to make room for sprinklers.
- meadowlands farm 7.5/10
–
SKILL: farming (specifically ranching)
RECOMMENDED SPOUSE: emily, haley, penny, shanePROS:
- has blue grass all over the map which increases animal friendship twice as much
- start with a coop & two chickens (more consistent profit and early access to mayo!)
- 40% chance of catching forest pond fish when fishing in the river
CONS:
- not a lot of farming space
- if planting crops near your house like i do, it’s a bit of a run to refill your watering can
- you receive 15 hay instead of parsnip seeds which means you have to buy more seeds from pierre
YOUR PET:
there’s 10 different animals you can choose from at the beginning of the game: 5 cats and 5 dogs. after you reach maximum friendship with your first pet, you can buy more from marnie, so don’t worry about being stuck with your little furry friend forever if you later decide you don’t like the animal you chose and want to change. you can also remove a pet using butterfly powder[stardewvalleywiki.com]
YOUR FARM NAME:
to rename your farm, you’ll need to edit the save file, so make sure to make a backup! i’ve never done it myself, but i’m sure there’s guides online on how to do it. otherwise, your farm name is permanent
☆ ADVANCED GAME OPTIONS ☆
1. COMMUNITY CENTER BUNDLES
– normal vs. remixed
- i would recommend doing normal bundles to make it easier, but if you’re looking for a challenge, then choose remixed
- this guide will be following normal CC bundles. if you’re doing remixed CC bundles, then referencing the remixed bundles[stardewvalleywiki.com] wiki will be extremely helpful. some of the advice i will be writing about may not apply when doing remixed bundles, but i will do my best to chip in advice when i can
– guarantee year 1 completable (not recommended)
- i aim to complete the community center by SPRING YEAR 2 when kent returns so the friendship bonus (bulletin board reward), will be applied to everyone and hopefully some villagers who you may not have met your first year such as: kent, sandy, the dwarf, and krobus. even though 3/4 of those villagers can be met by the end of your first year, you won’t get the bonus with everyone, which i find a waste.
2. MINE REWARDS:
– normal vs. remixed
- it’s your choice, but i think turning on remixed mine rewards is worth it! some of the stuff you get can be better than the original reward (the rewards for floors 30, 40, 70, 100 and 120 remain unchanged)
3. SPAWN MONSTERS ON THE FARM
– toggle on or off
- unless you’re playing on the wilderness farm or looking for a challenge, i would not recommend turning this on
NOTE: this is not permanent, you can toggle it on or off late game once you unlock the witch’s hut
4. PROFIT MARGIN
– normal, 75%, 50%, 25%
- this affects the sell price of everything. normal (100%) will have normal price values, 50% with make something worth 50% of the price (ex: a chicken egg is worth 50g (normal) with 50% it will be worth 25g. this will also affect the price of shops)
- not recommended to turn on unless you’re looking for a challenge
5. MULTIPLAYER OPTIONS
– starting cabins (1-7)
- make sure to add enough cabins for your friends if you plan to make this a co-op farm!
- even if you don’t plan to make it a co-op farm, it could be helpful to have extra cabins scattered around your farm for when it’s late and you need a bed to sleep in (and steal decorations >:3)
- you can choose to have the cabins nearby or separate. your choice!
6. OTHER OPTIONS:
– random seed:
- affects the RNG rate of certain things (such as trash bins or artifact spots). leave it blank if you want a surprise
– toggle legacy randomization on/off
- “makes random choices in a way that often repeats patterns.”
- used to exploit mining, foraging and crafting
- a common method that requires this toggle on is clay farming
☆ SPRING WEEK 1, YEAR 1 ☆
☆ DAY ONE (SPRING 1) ☆
–
WEATHER: sunny
since today is your first day, you’ll have a limited amount of options for what to do. my day one goals usually consist of this:
– reach foraging lvl 1
– meet everyone (aside from willy and the wizard)
– buy/plant one bean starter, cauliflower and potato. spend the rest of your money on parsnips (you’ll get 15)
today’s schedule will look like this:
1. check the TV
- weather report: for the first 5 days, the weather will be sunny (except on the 3rd, which is rain)
- fortune teller: check your daily luck
- livin’ off the land: check out today’s tip!
2. you have until 9AM to chop down 5 trees and make a chest
- you should get enough wood to make a chest, which is what you should put all your items in (including your 15 parsnip seeds or 11 of your hay)
- the only things you should have in your inventory is your scythe & hoe
- make sure to keep an eye out for any wiggling worms AKA artifact spots[stardewvalleywiki.com]hit the area with your hoe to see what it is!
3. at 9AM, set off to meet everyone!
- head up north towards the backwoods (and stop by your coop to pet your chickens if you’re on the meadowlands farm)
- talk to linus and pick up any nearby forage (if you have a daffodil or dandelion, give it to him!)
- enter the carpenter’s shop and talk to robin, maru & demetrius
- head down south, picking up any nearby forage
- enter pierre’s shop and talk to gus, marnie, abigail and pierre (and take this opportunity to buy the necessary seeds!) if you have a dandelion, give it to pierre. if you have a daffodil, give it to gus.
- head down to the tree where penny’s at, digging through the 1 river road & saloon trash cans on the way and picking up any nearby forage
- talk to penny (give her a dandelion if you have one), sam (give him a joja cola if you have one), and leah (give her a daffodil or dandelion if you have one) if she’s there and then head into cindersap forest
- talk to haley (give her a daffodil if you have one) and head down south to grab any spring onions (NOTE: you can save one to ship and keep the rest for a good source of energy! they also make good gifts for linus, leah and harvey)
