how to actually increase FPSi use Ryzen 5 5600X, RX 6600 XT 8GB, 32GB DDR4 3200, and THIS actually made my game stable (DX12!!!)
Step 1: Follow The Steps
The Default Install Location Is Usually:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Squad
Once You’re In The Folder, Click The Address Bar At The Top To Copy The Path:
Open Windows Security From The Search Bar:
Go To The App & Browser Control Page, Then Click Exploit Protection Settings:
In Exploit Protection, Open The Program Settings Panel And Click “Add Program To Customize” > “Choose Exact File Path”:
Paste The Game Directory Path Into The File Explorer Bar, Find “squad_launcher.exe” And Click Open:
Now, Edit The New Entry In The Exploit Protection Panel. Scroll Down To Find Control Flow Guard (CFG). CFG Is On By Default, But It Can Negatively Impact DX12 Performance, Including Frame Drops And Stutters In Squad. Check “Override System Settings” And Turn CFG “OFF”:
Add One More Program. This Time, Navigate To The “SquadGame” Folder (Same Directory As Before), Then Into Binaries -> Win64:
Select “SquadGame.exe” Repeat The CFG Step, And Make Sure Settings Match The Screenshot. Restart Your PC To Apply Changes:
Why Do This?
CFG Is A Security Feature That Prevents Certain Types Of Attacks, But It’s Known To Interfere With DX12 Games Like Squad, Causing Performance Issues. Turning It Off For These Specific Files Improves Stability Without Affecting Your Entire System.
If You Want To Revert Changes, Go Back To Exploit Protection, Find The Programs You Added, And Remove Them From The List. This Resets Everything To Default.
I Made This Guide Because Most Tutorials On This Are In Russian, And It Took Me 400 Hours Of Frustration Before Finding This Fix. It’s A Game-Changer If You’ve Been Struggling With Frame Drops.
