Your go to guide, because you seem to not have a choice here, for things about this game.
The actual guide starts now.
Heart Tank: Permanent life increase.
Sub Tank: Collect life refills when at full health to fill this. Use it to refill your health bar.
Armor Part: Upgrades to Sanae’s basic abilities.
Also, as a reminder, you start with air dash. It will be invaluable, especially in places where you don’t have double jump. In fact, it’s intended to get through some areas without double jump.
Card Get: Esoterica Jump (double jump)
Weakness: ???
Heart Tank: Ignore the path to the left that leads to the library, and instead continue going up. You’ll see the item, but cannot get to it, so instead keep going up. Eventually you’ll find a level that, when hit, activates the elevator. Simple go down, move through the now open door and collect it. gotten after activating elevator
Armor Part: Body Pads, which crease knock back. You have to come back with double jump to collect it.
Sub Tank: Also have to come back with double jump to claim it. It’s the first overhang in the library.
Protip: Instead of going to the boss door, keep going down the stairs and you’ll reach a dead end. A 1up will spawn there every time you exit and enter the stage. Possible decent place to grind for extra lives.
Card Get: Rainbow Crash
Weakness: ???
Heart Tank: Located at the very end of the stage, right above her boss door. You’ll need to ride a mine cart to reach it.
EX item: Behind the second tunneler that kills you in one hit. Possibly need double jump to get back into the passage that acts as the checkpoint. This item allows you to start with 4 lives after a game over, but not if you enter a stage with less than 4 lives.
Card Get: Volcano Splasher (modifies air dash to cause damage)
Heart Tank: Right before the checkpoint. Use air dash if you don’t have double jump.
Armor Part: Long Buster, which allows Sanae’s danmaku shot to go all the way across the screen. Found after the mid-boss, who is totally not Whispy Woods, but made of bamboo, There will be a series of yoku blocks phasing bamboo that you have to time your jumps across. It leads to a large energy refill and a ladder. Take the ladder up to claim the capsule.
Protip(s!): The big life energy at the checkpoint respawns every time you die. The 1up right after the mid-boss respawns every time you die. So if you want, you can use this to refill your Sub Tank, however… the big energy right before the Armor Part respawns every time you go up and down the ladder. With a properly timed air dash, you can simple grab it, go back up, then down, and collect it again. It’s the perfect Sub Tank refill spot.
Card Get: Draonfish Slash
Weakness: ???
Heart Tank: To the left of the boss door, surrounded by spikes. Use air dash to get in and out.
Protip: This is the stage that will teach you all about the proper use of air dash, should you opt to not get double jump before it.
Card Get: Moses’s Fall
Weakness: Dragonfish Slash
Heart Tank: After beating totally not Illumina from X6, enter a gap. Head to the left and you’ll find it, along with…
Armor Part: Aerial Buster, allows Sanae to fire her danmaku shot downwards at an angle. If you spam it, you can sort of hover.
Card Get: Wind Doll (Soul Body)
Weakness: Moses’s Fall (potentially?)
Heart Tank: After the checkpoint and seems to be a suicide run, as you have to go over a long series of floating keystones that fall once you get onto them. The better bet is to simply get it on a return visit.
Protip: I’mma be honest, I expect not Illumina to be in her stage, but, ya know…
Card Get: Wheel Slash
Weakness: Wind Doll
Heart Tank: After fourth wheel mid-boss that reminds me that X6 is trash and just before her boss door. Fall down a tunnel of spikes and it’s on the left. Use air dash.
NO
But seriously, this stage is misery. If you know Squid Adler’s stage from X5, you will know the pain of trying to do this.
Card Get:
Weakness:
Heart Tank:
Sub Tank: I assume there’s a second one in this stage, since the PS1 X games had at least two.
Armor Piece: Probably have to collect all the energy balls scattered across the stage. This isn’t something that should have been taken from X5…
Card Get : None
Weakness: ???
Protip: You don’t actually have to fight her if you don’t want. You get nothing from it.
