Welcome to our guide on the hazards of Red Tether! In this game, there are various environmental dangers that can harm both allies and enemies. But, when certain hazards combine, a special and powerful effect can occur. This guide aims to provide information on each hazard and their deadly combinations. So, let’s dive in and learn more about the hazards in Red Tether.
Fuel-Fire Burning
Additionally, Engine Heat has interesting interactions with Fuel-Fire that provide risk and reward. The default heat is 100%, and at this value, there are no special effects other than one’s engines igniting Fuel clouds. Below 100% heat, one’s engines will no longer ignite Fuel clouds. Above 100% engine heat, a ship will begin to overheat while it is moving, eventually catching Fuel-Fire if it does not allow the heat to dissipate by reducing their thrust. The rate of heat buildup seems to correlate with the engine heat value.
For ships with cooler engines, Fuel becomes much less of a threat, as it will no longer be ignited when moving through it. However, in cases where one wishes to inflict Fuel-Fire, a player is then forced to rely on more creative methods such as baiting explosions over the Fuel cloud.
For ships with hotter engines, one gains the ability to easily Burn any object simply by speeding up, overheating, then crashing into it. This is a relatively useful option, especially when combined with other elemental conditions, but managing heat can be a nuisance when causing Burn is undesired, and can become very dangerous if there are no nearby objects to crash into. Additionally, as engine heat is correlated with more powerful engines, these ships generally possess greater maneuverability.
Acid Corrosion
Coolant Freeze / Fraility
EMP Shock
Critical Condition
Magnetic Spool
Pyrolysis (Acid + Fuel-Fire)
Thermal Overload (Frail + Fuel-Fire)
This effect is extremely powerful, and is easily capable of entirely destroying an entire wave of powerful enemies. However, the conditions for such a powerful combo are quite rare, as Coolant and Fuel are rarely spotted together. Certain ships are capable of inflicting Frail and Burning, though keep in mind that Glacier Slayer, the ship which can deploy Coolant, does not have enough engine heat to ignite Fuel clouds.
Acid Shock (Acid + EMP)
Electrified (Coolant + EMP)
This effect is quite powerful, as it stuns, weakens, and damages all enemies in a large area. Ships such as Pet Electric or Glacier Slayer are capable of enabling this combo with their elemental abilities.
