Plague Inc: Evolved: DarkWater Achievements Mega-Guide | Necroa Virus

Coming from the perspective of a huge Necroa Virus fan: Getting all 3 of these achievements was fun, but also really stress inducing, ESPECIALLY BIG BA–

Ahem … Anyway, in this guide I’ll be running through all 3 achievements and how to get them. Along with some personal tips I’d recommend for people who are struggling with these three.

Anyway, grab yourself a coffee/tea/water/soda/ect, and let’s get cracking shall we ?

Here’s some generalised tips or tricks I recommend for all 3 Achievements.

1. For the love of everything that’s alive: Don’t spend your DNA on ANYTHING unless I specifically mention it !
2. In all fairness, once you have Cytopathic Reanimation, just totally ignore the Cure meter. It’s not gonna do anything at this point.
3. Do all 3 of these in Casual, even if you’re the overlord of Brutal, you’ll save your sanity doing these in Casual.
4. For all 3 I HIGHLY suggest bringing the DNA Gene that gives bonus DNA for popping Orange Bubbles, that’s what I did anyway.

If you don’t already know who DarkWater are: They are a Private Military Contractor who are responsible for crafting the weapons Z Com uses in their field of work. They are also kind of awful at managing their security systems and like worrying about people being absent.

Anyway enough with the slander ( for now ), to get DarkWater to appear you need to start in the USA. After this, evolve Saliva 1 and Drug Resistance 1 within the first 60 in-game days. This will cost you 17 DNA Points total iirc.

If you do this correctly they should appear after the first 60 days has passed. They have a red icon that looks kinda like Z Com’s …

… No it’s not the one I used as the icon of this guide, that’s a DarkWater OC of mine named Kyler Handleson from a WIP Custom Scenario.

These next steps will apply to all 3 Achievements. If you want to save yourself some time you can make a save slot after doing these steps, but I didn’t personally and still did pretty well.

First, wait for a popup talking about DarkWater being “concerned” about a “missing” ( aka “went on their lunch break for 10 microseconds longer than usual” ) geneticist. After this appears you’ll need to do a bit more waiting, this time for 2 Red news headlines.

One news headline will mention DarkWater denying a security breach in one of their weapons facilities. Funny how they’re willing to spend $10,000,000 on finding some dude but probably only spend 3 cents on their security systems- 🙄

Once the popup talking about them closing that same weapons facility “amid security concerns” ( aka they couldn’t be bothered to renew the security on that specific location ), you should have more than 44 DNA Points laying around.

I know on the Wiki it says to save 44 DNA Points, but actually you want to save up or gather around 83 ( 44 for the Symptoms + 39 for the Abilities ). This is why I said don’t evolve anything else besides what I mention in the guide. Use 44 of your DNA Points on Insomnia, Fever, Photophobia, Delirium and Cytopathic Reanimation. Use the remaining 39 on Horde Instinct, Horde Mentality, Horde Vocalisation and Horde Pheromones.

Now from here, you want to wait for a popup that says DarkWater created the Necroa Virus as a Bio-Weapon. Yeah who would’ve figured the guys with massive security problems were responsible for this mess- AHEM-

Once this popup appears, your next steps will depend on the Achievement you are trying to obtain, so read below for further instructions.

If it’s Non Starter you are trying to obtain, you simply need to wait for the previously mention popup, and then evolve Segmented Genomes. That’s literally it for Non Starter actually so this is the easiest one on the list !

Dead End is a little bit harder since there’s a bit more waiting involved. Once the previously mentioned popup appears, this time you want to wait a teeny bit longer for a popup that says DarkWater successfully analysed your Plague, and then evolve Genetic Hardening.

ALSO, if you are going for this and you randomly evolve GH early, devolve it ASAP !! You ONLY want it here and not any earlier or later than here !!

Assuming you do this correctly, you should get a popup saying DarkWater failed to find a weakness to your Plague … Which is funny cuz didn’t you lot literally make this thing to begin with ??

Oh. God. This one is gonna be hellish. I’m not kidding when I say it took me 3 tries without Saves, so don’t expect to get this one right away-

So yeah it’s the usual, do everything in Part 1 and 2, BUT this time you need to wait even longer. I also hate to break it to you but Z Com are going to inevitably show up whilst you’re doing this, but they can’t do too much so don’t worry about them too much- Also if the Cure hits 100% during this time, don’t worry about that either cuz the Cure won’t do #### to your Zombies.

This time, wait for the popup saying DarkWater created your Plague, then wait for them to analyse it, and then wait even longer for them to start working on the Z-Rest project. During this time you need to save up MORE THAN 90+ DNA POINTS. That sounds insane but again this is why I said don’t buy anything unless I specifically tell you to.

Also, make sure the Zombie population does not pass 2 Million by moving Zombies out of the USA as much as possible. You want to avoid the popup saying authorities can’t defend against the virus as much as possible here, even though getting the popup won’t impact getting the Achievement. ( Source: I had that popup appear and I barely still got Big Bang. )

Once DarkWater start researching/working on Z-Rest, you need to rapidly purchase Anaerobic Resuscitation, Enhanced Motor Control, Peptide Surge, Acidic Reflux, Naja Mortis and Autothysis. These will be directly underneath Cytopathic Reanimation by the way.

Assuming you have done this quickly enough, and haven’t wasted too much time/DNA on other stuff, a popup should appear saying the Z-Rest device failed because a group of DarkWater Operators were “blown up” by a Zombie, sadly killing their top scientist. ( RIP to whoever that scientist was btw, probably the one time I genuinely felt bad getting an Achievement in this game 🙁 )

But yeah, if you did everything above correctly you should now have Big Bang. And also have pretty massive bragging rights considering BB is the hardest out of all 3 DarkWater Achievements.
