PAYDAY 2: “The Auction Cry” Achievement Guide SOLO

Any stealth build will do. Make sure to have ECMs at the least. Having JOAT aced and body bags is useful, but not necessary due to the time it takes to kill guards/civvies and hiding the bodies.

For weapons, make sure to at least pack a high-concealment suppressed shotgun. This helps with hiding bodies without using bodybags, and also takes less time.

For perk decks, Burglar works great thanks to it’s additional lockpick speed. As well, Copycat specced into crouch/carry speed and Hacker works especially well. However I do not recommend Yakuza or Copycat Yakuza. While obviously the speed gained from being on low HP and Second Wind is very good for an achievement such as this, the extra 10 seconds or so it takes to get to low HP often could be better used getting inside the mansion and locating objectives.

First of all, the most important thing here is patience. This achievement is heavily RNG reliant, with a lot of moving parts. Guard locations, auctioneer office locations, powerbox locations, etc. This achievement solo will take you a LONG time unless you get quite lucky early on.

As well, make sure to familiarise yourself with how the map works. There’s always 3 closets that can contain the blowtorch and power box, there’s 3 positions for the vault, etc.

First of all, the asset you need to buy is ALWAYS the Ladder asset. This gives you an easy way into the mansion which takes significantly less time than hacking the circuit box for the metal detectors. Any other assets are a waste.

Second, when doing this achievement, if you get spotted by a guard or civvie early on, immediately restart. It takes roughly 10 seconds to answer a pager, and hiding the body can take even longer, and just leaving the body where you found it risks detection. 10 seconds is a lot of time when you only have 5 minutes to complete a heist. Past the initial objectives of the security boxes, you are free to answer pagers and hide bodies when waiting out timers.

When starting the heist, start by walking diagonally left while holding your Mask key to check for the ladder spawn. If it spawns on the left side, good! Walk straight ahead and climb up. Otherwise, quickly get over to the other side for the ladder. Getting inside from the ladder should take you 10-15 seconds.

As soon as you get over the railing, go along the outside porches and look inside the windows for the security boxes on the walls and the location of the office (the latter of which the windows will be blocked with shutters). If you’re lucky, you should spot them on the side you enter from. Quickly go inside and hack them. If the timer goes above 40-50 seconds before you find and hack the boxes, restart. Each box takes 30 seconds. Additionally, if the boxes are inside the auction hall with the civilians, restart.

While hacking the boxes, look for the two closets at the front of the upstairs rooms. In total there is 3, the two at the front and one near the reception desk. Two of them contain the blowtorch and the powerbox, and one is empty. By process of elimination, if one upstairs contains the blowtorch and the other upstairs closet is empty, the powerbox is downstairs by the reception. By the time the boxes are hacked and you’ve opened the closets upstairs, you should be 50-70 seconds in.

When the security boxes are close to being finished, make your way towards the staircases in the back down to the vault room. If you’re lucky the vault door should be located on the side you enter from. If not, still continue but you’re likely going to be detected by the two civvies inside. As well, guards patrol through the vault room once open, meaning killing the civvies will result in the guards spotting the bodies, and taking them hostage and moving them takes too long. When prompted, place the blocker on the keypad and run towards where your powerbox was. You should be about 1-2 minutes in by this point.

Enter the powerbox room, turn off the power as soon as you can to lure the auctioneer into the room. Hide in one of the recesses of the room, and when he enters, shoot him into the other side of the room. Then, take his keycard and make sure to stay behind for a second to turn the box back off. Then, make your way to the office you noted earlier. Open the door with the card and hack the computer. This will take 40 or so seconds, so stay with the computer so you can read the combination. By the time it’s done, you’ll be 3-4 minutes in.

Once it’s done, quickly make note of the code and run back to the vault door. By this point, if you run into guards kill them and place an ECM or use your PCMs if you’re running Copycat Hacker when you kill them. Enter the code into the vault door, open the vault and get inside as quickly as possible. With the blowtorch, shove yourself infront of the glass panel to immediately open the panel. Once it’s open, pick up the tablet, and run towards the outside porch of the mansion to use the zipline. Then, place ECMs and run back to where your ladder was, and take care not to die falling down. If all goes right, you should BARELY make it in time to the escape, and the achievement will pop up.
