Break out of the ‘noid
Fortunately, the ball bounce game is the first game to be made, so once it is fully developed, you can immediately play it. So I just kept interacting with him by pressing the joystick and pressing the button that has other characters show up. I also kept on accessing and exiting the mini game select screen too. Soon enough, he puts on his helmet, goes into the right room, and he started building up mini games. The mini game select screen keeps track of how much the mini game is developed with a percentage, so you may have to have him work on the mini game a few times before it is fully developed. It didn’t took much time for me to have the ball bounce mini game to be 100% developed, so once it is developed, I went ahead and played it.
The goal is to make sure the score reaches 99, without the ball reaching to the bottom of the screen by moving this flat line right and left. The ball will eventually speed up really fast, so you may have to rewind to give you more time to save the ball. Once you reach 99, you will get the achievement.
Roll the Dice
The middle choice at the Title Menu screen will have you play the game at the start after picking a character on the Player Select screen. The top choice at the Title Menu screen will have you continue playing from your save data. If this is your first time playing the game, you will need to select the middle choice to choice one of the four characters and name them. It doesn’t really mater what name you give them, but after that, you will be taken to the Mode Select screen. From the Mode Select Screen, select the top option to start a game.
Select your EX Striker partner with blue being good and red being evil and select 1 player mode. If you don’t have experience with this game, I would recommend playing with 99 turns, so you can get all your stars needed to level up in one go. After that, choose your map (when I did this achievement I chose the map with the cylinder in the middle or the map after the beanstalk). Once you select your map, turn order will be determined by a dice roll and you will begin the game.
The goal of this achievement is to get 7 stars. You can only purchase stars on the Star Square, and they typically cost 20 coins per star. You can purchase stars up to only three times for each pass of this square, so you will likely have to pass this square three times to get the stars you need. That means you will need 60 coins to get the 3 stars per pass and potentially 140 coins by the end of the game.
So once your turn begins, you will have the option to either look around the map and roll the dice by pressing the left dice icon. For the purposes of this guide, I will be ignoring 5T icon and Cards Icon. Now you will want to maximize as many coins as possible before reaching the Star Square space, and in order to do that, you will have to manipulate the dice roll using rewind to land on every Coin Increasing Square. You will ignore Coin Decreasing, Event, Card Shop, and Boss Squares whenever possible. For this map, you will be forced to end your roll on a Battle (VS) Game, Boss, Star and Changing / Door Square. There are alternate routes that can bypass some of these squares if you don’t want to deal with them, but winning the Battle Game square will award you coins if you can beat it (but you will lose coins if you lose the mini game).
Boss Squares on this map will potentially have you skip your turn the first couple times they are passed, and anything can happen on Event Squares INCLUDING HAVING YOUR COINS SWAPPED WITH YOUR OPPONENT’S COINS! You will likely not understand how the card system works, so for this guide, the cards and Card Shop Square will be ignored. You can change the mini game at the Battle Game Square if you rewind to a point before you roll your dice just in case you want to choose what mini games you want to play. Remember you can use Rewind to give yourself an edge for certain mini games. If you have the coins you need, you should try to move faster through the board to get to buying the stars faster just so you have less of a chance of losing your coins before you get to the Star Square Space. Once you get the stars you need, you can casually finish the game (assuming there isn’t an event that forces you to lose stars that I don’t know about). You should be able to beat your opponent at that point as well, especially if you keep beating them in mini games.
After a game is completed you will boot yourself back to the Title Menu screen. Make sure you only select the top choice to load your save data to the Mode Select screen (assuming the Resume option doesn’t pop if you didn’t fully completed a game). From the Mode Select screen, select the middle option to access the User Mode screen to level up your character. Go down to the bottom option after that, and you will be able to level up any of the 10 characters from there. Leveling up a character from level 1 to 2 costs 2 stars, and leveling up a character from 2 to 3 costs 5 stars. You only need to level up one of them to get the achievement, so select one of the characters and give them 7 stars to max out their level to 3. At that point, you will get the achievement.
Master of Robots
We did it, Coach!
Under TEAM STATUS, you can look at your stats, change your formation, and give/change the equipment/items for one of your teammates. They can equip up to two equipment/items, including duplicates. I tend to give these to teammates that I like to use. If a teammate has an item that increases their speed, you can easily tell who they are while you play. The items aren’t necessary, but they can give you an edge in game.
The SOCCER SHOP is the place to buy equipment/items for your teammates and sell spare equipment/items you don’t need. The cheapest items in the shop are THROWAWAY SPIKES (SPD+5) and GLASS LEGGERS (KIC+5) for 30G each, and they have pretty good stats for the game. But, they can only be used for 1 GAME and these things don’t get restocked for the duration of the Story Mode, so you should save them for later games or against tough teams. You should purchase other equipment/items if you can, but you will likely not earn enough money for the best equipment. However, there is a chance that one of your equipment/items could get upgraded for one from one of the game’s random events.
When you are ready, start your 1st NEOGEO CUP, and you will immediately start playing against teams. Before playing against the team and during half time, you can learn more about the team you are playing against, alter the formation of your team, and check the status of individual teammates. Once you are ready, select KICKOFF / RESTART to proceed.
In order to beat the team, you will get at least one more point than them. The game will follow the ball at all times and you will control the player that is closes to the ball. There are two 3 minute rounds per game with a break between rounds. You can take advantage of rewind to anticipate the opposing team’s moves as well as the movement of the ball. If your goalie catches the ball, they can hold the ball up to 10 seconds before they have to send it back to the field at the direction you are pointing at. There is a chance that you or the opponent can get a foul if a player gets knocked down by being kicked, so if you happen to get a foul for yourself, go ahead and rewind.
The opposing goalie will be focused on blocking your hits, so it can be annoying to get points. However, I found a strategy where if they block the ball without grabbing it and you manage to get to the ball in time, you can quickly get to the ball and kick the ball into the goal before the goalie has a chance to react to that. After that, you can attempt to stall for time by kicking the ball away from your own goal while using rewind if you notice that the other team is about to get a point. Or, you can attempt to get more points, so you can get more money at the end of the game.
After the game has concluded, there is a chance that a random event can happen at this point. It can be a boost like upgrading a current item or a negative like having your item gets stolen. Depending on the event, you can use rewind to alter the outcome. The coach will the ask if you what to GO ON! to the next game, SHOP for more items/equipment, check your team STATUS, or QUIT and save the current results. If you QUIT, you will be sent back to the screen with the bunch of option icons. If you want, you can save at that point.
Remember to buy and equip any items before you start the next game if you have the money to do so. You can continue by pressing the trophy icon and keep going like this until you finish the Story Mode.

Path to Greatness
So you can either play the SNK version of the game or the CAPCOM version. I went ahead and chose the SNK version for the purposes of this guide. After the title screen, you will have the option to START GAME or EXPLAIN RULES. I strongly recommend learning the rules and terminology of this game, either here or when the game asks if you want to review the rules in game. Once you start the game, you will choose a character that you want to use and provide a name for them. You will immediately fight against a main character from the other version of the game.
You will start each game with five cards and the order of who goes first will be determined randomly. If you start first, you will have an advantage, since you can have something on the field before your opponent does. I would recommend beating your first opponent as you will get a good card from winning. For the Capcom version, you can get Chun-Li for winning. Losing will give you Mega Man instead. For the SNK version, you can get Terry for winning. After that, the game lets you go off on your own to collect these coins.
For each area, you will need to beat all the players of an area before you can fight the player holding the coin. You can pretty much go in any order you want. For the SNK version, there is a crane game in Joy Joy where you can get a free card after every game. You can use rewind to change what kind of card you get from this crane game. Before you start each game, you can save in front of your opponent, reset, and reload your game to change the starting outcome. It can be pretty useful if you want to start the game with a card you want to use right away. Fighting players that held coins will give you a higher likelihood of collecting better cards and it doesn’t matter which of these players you fight for those cards.
Rewinding can be pretty helpful in other instances as well. When you get cards after the end of each game, you can rewind and change what cards you can get until you get the cards you want. If you accidentally made a move you didn’t want to make, you can rewind to correct that action. You can even rewind as a strategy like seeing what is next in your deck for certain instances or testing to see how the opposing player will react if you attack them. Sometimes, the opponent will let you hit them even if they have a full field of cards, especially if their HP is above 1000.
If you have he No. C089 Falcon card, I have this cheese strategy where you can keep increasing BP for one of your CHA cards until they are high enough that they can one shot your opponent. The strategy involves depleting the opposing opponents BP down to 100 NP for each CHA card on the field without defeating them, so that they can’t defeat you very quickly. The reason I don’t want them destroyed is so my opponent won’t be able to fill the field with fresh cards as they can restore the player’s SP Then, I would have Falcon boost one of my CHA cards (preferably Heidern since he can steal SP) as this is happening. Then, once their BP gets high enough, I can use a Unite attack with Falcon so that I can defeat my opponent without issue. This works especially well for opponents that don’t have cards with abilities and cards that can restore SP easily, which is most of the necessary opponents needed to be defeated in game to collect coins.
This might be different for you, but here are some cards that can help you in your battles. I will explain that in the next section.
Path to Greatness (Continued) – Useful Cards and Extra Information
Starting with the SNK cards, No. S001 Terry is simply a strong 1000 BP card that you can get as a reward for winning your first battle. He has this ability that will keep him out of Freeze phase. Honestly, you should instantly put him in your starting deck. He is just a really good high powered card. No. S004 Mai is a decently high BP card at 600 BP. She lets you reset your entire hand and lets you add one extra card after that, and you can very quickly draw out the cards you want using her ability. With rewind, you can also view what is coming up in your deck as well to prepare without having to get rid of your entire hand to help you prepare what is coming up.
Despite being a cheap D rank card, No. S029 Eiji lets you view the top 3 cards of your deck and rearrange to any order you want. That means you can prioritize the better cards to get drawn more quickly. With rewind, it can also serve as a peek into your deck to see what is coming up too. I have three of Eiji in my deck just because he is so helpful!
So No. S030 Kasumi isn’t the best card in my deck, but she can serve as a quick way to deal direct damage to my opponent with needing to spend SP, especially if I have AC cards I want to give up for various reasons. She also pairs well with Blue Mary. No. S042 Kyoshiro has an ability that can increase the BP of all your characters by 100 BP, including Kyoshiro himself that can be helpful in a pinch.
No. S064 Heidern is great for stealing SP from your enemy, especially if you buff him up prior to attack. He can help prevent your opponent trying anything too funny like AC cards or unite attacks. No. S065 Leona is a really good card that can instantly deplete another characters life by 200 BP points. In some cases, she can completely eliminate cards if they are 200 BP or less. Both Leona and Heidern can boost each other as their back-up making them a sweet cheap combo of a strategy. No. S068 A.Asamiya is such a a great card for when you want to boost your SP with a full field of CHA cards, especially if your deck is very AC card focused!
No. S076 Iori is a C rank character that can’t counterattack, give you SP, or pair up with anyone, but the 1000 BP makes this card stand out enough that it can still be pretty good to have on the field for that alone, especially if you lack 1000 BP cards. The rest of SNK deck is filled with cards that are used to back-up other cards.
Moving on to the Capcom cards, No. C083 Hinata is a neat card that raises one characters BP by 200 pts. Pretty good if you need a boost in a pinch. I previously mentioned how really good No. C089 Falcon is with his ability to boost characters by 300 BPs. Even though you need to discard a card to enable this effect, you can use rewind to control what card should be discarded. He might pair well with No. C117 Nina as she can disable the opponent’s counter-attack when you ran out of cards, and Falcon’s ability basically discards cards for free. However, I didn’t manage to get this to work before I got the achievement.
I have No. C104 Claire in my deck who gives +4 SP when she gets set on the field. She also has an ability that will let you draw 1 CHA card randomly from deck by KOing her. However, I found out that I can’t really rewind for any card I want at that moment using this ability. But, it can be pretty helpful for certain instances. No. C107 Mega Man card is a pretty good 600 BP / 5 SP card that has this ability that can steal abilities from anyone, even from your own side! You can literally have him out just to simply get rid of an enemy’s card’s ability and have him use that ability against the opponent. Even if Mega Man gets KO’d, the enemy CHA card won’t get their ability back until they leave the field!
Moving on to Action (AC) cards, No. A006 Peacemaker might be expensive to use at -6 SP, but it can return 1 card to my hand and 1 card to my enemy’s hand. This can be a game changer if the intent is to reuse CHA abilities or if you just need to clear a problematic card from the field! No. A009 Cover Fire costs 4 SP to use, but it is pretty helpful at depleting 300 BP from a character or if the character is at 300 BP or less, basically KOing them out. I keep 3 of these in my deck.
No. A010 Bopper costs 4 SP to use and KOs one of my characters, but the BP from that character is used to damage another character. Pretty helpful if you want to clear the field or if you need to significantly weaken a strong enemy CHA card. No. A012 Grenade can be a pretty cheap way to deplete the enemy’s HP by 300 pts despite the -5 SP cost, especially if they are well guarded but they don’t have much HP left. No. A021 Raw Shield is a pretty good cheap card that can be used to quickly restore your HP. It does KO one of your characters, but their BP is used to heal you and can be used to keep you playing for longer. Especially true if you are under 1000 HP.
No. A026 Heritage is a free card that lets you draw 1 card for each character you KO. Pretty neat if you need to clear the field and/or draw cards quickly. No. A027 Best Shot is a great cheap D rank card that lets you see up to 3 of the deck’s top cards and draw one of those cards right away. It does force you to discard the other two cards, but it lets you have access to cards quickly. With rewind, you can also use it see what cards are coming up in your deck as well. I have 3 of those cards in my own deck. No. A028 Best Shot is a card that lets you draw 2 cards if you pay 3 SP. A pretty good card if you have plenty of SP and you need to draw out more cards right away.
No. A030 Awakening boosts one character’s SP by 300 pts. Pretty good if you need to quickly boost a CHA card if you have SP to spare. No. A052 Tooptadon is a great cheap rank D card that lets you use Union 1 attacks without spending any SP or Union 2 attacks for 5 SP. I keep three of these cards in my deck just in case I don’t want to spend SP and they can also serve as pretty good discard fodder if I don’t plan to use a union attack or have more than enough SP. I also sometimes put SNK No. S008 Blue Mary if I need to keep an enemy character frozen, especially if I want to prevent abilities from being activated or reduce CHA cards from attacking. She can also potentially pair with Terry if you want.
I haven’t tested this enough, but if you bind extra controls, you can trade with the other version’s games cards if you have a save for that version. I’m not going to go into explaining everything, but I will provide a link to GameFAQs guides if you want more information on this game:

Overall, this game alone is probably worth getting this collection for, especially if you enjoy games like Yu-Gi-Oh! Once you collect your five coins, you will get your well earned achievement!
