HOW TO UNLOCK IT
HOW IT WORKS
You do not have any shop upgrades (ie no reroll and you obviously cant bring things in from your last death) EXCEPT all weapon tiers are available, however you must own the weapons first tier to get any of the higher tier versions of the said weapon. You are given a choice between 3 Lv1 weapons at the start of every run.
Every ten floors you will lose one second off your maximum life. If youre just going for the 30 floors achievement, this wont effect your gameplay as much, as you will only lose about 2 seconds maximum off your total. Around floor 50+ is where this gets egregious.
On top of the above, as you can only have a max of 10 upgrades (9+ your weapon), every 10 floors the oldest upgrade you have will vanish, excluding your weapon. Once its gone, it will return to the shops item pool, so you have a chance to get it again.
*Lollipops do not exist either as they counter the lower life mechanic.
HOW TO PLAY: EARLY FLOORS
The early floors are what i loosely consider to be below floor 23 end around floor 30. This is because around these floors are where you do not have any upgrades cycling out of your inventory, your health is close to max, and the strategy plays most similarly to the main campaign.
When starting a run your main focus should be on getting a weapon you like, and getting it upgraded.
While i recommend just using the gun youre most comfortable with, id advise against the plasma rifle for its weird recoil movement slowing you down. Obviously, you can use them if you want.
This is due to the fact that your weapon will not leave your inventory later in, and you wont have to worry about your items cycling out in the later stages due to grabbing weapon upgrades late.
(for those going to floor 30, this isnt as big of a priority.)
As for non weapon upgrades, focus on getting kill bonuses like envirokill, or protection like lazer jamming or lava boots. Your health will be near maximum around these levels, so most upgrades will work as intended.
HOW TO PLAY: FLOORS 30-60
you should have your weapon maxed, and items should start cycling to the shop out of your inventory. For now, your goal is to simply experiment and seek out what you value in an upgrade, as many items are now more viable due to the lower hp, and kill bonuses arent as important as you wont have enough health for them to have a substantial weight.
at this point, you should always have an item to do a finisher with, as it can be a very helpful lifeline in case anything goes south. Furthermore
Items i recommend:
Item magnet/visor: easier item grabbing makes it so you dont need to be brushing up the walls constantly, which can help a lot with the flow between rooms
Enemy Visor: lets you see through walls, so shooting doors or taking vents is less risky as you can see if it will give you hp or if an enemy is near a vent
Slo Mo Vest: very useful as it activates quite often without it being a nuisance at this stage.
FastSlide: The extra momentum from dashing off ramps and shorter time spent on ramps/vents helps manage your time (both total and hp related) far more.
As always, safety items like lava boots and laser jamming are very nice to have alongside weapon modifiers like exploding bullets.
FLOOR 60+
You have around 4 seconds at this point, and im unsure as if it goes lower than 3.
Kill bonuses are completely useless at this stage, and id say items are next to worthless unless if youre using them for Iframes.
Your goal is just to get to the end of the floor. Dont even worry about ponts, just get to the end of the stage
DO NOT TAKE VENTS UNLESS YOU HAVE FASTSLIDE.
Items i reccomend:
GRAB ICE GRENADE, ITS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ INSANE AS IT CONSTANTLY GOES OFF
Enemy visor
Conveniently placed explosive barrel
Hazard protection items
(if your weapon doesnt have infinite ammo) Bigger mags. Desperate samurai if youre using sword.
Akimbo soda (you are invincible for the duration)
Padlock(less time shooting doors)
Good luck, i actively cant give any real advice for this stage of the game.
THE LEADERBOARD
Generally, the scoring works roughly the same as the main campaign: kill things, get points. Generally, you dont need to kill every enemy on the stage to get points.
After your run ends, it takes the total run time and subtracts it from the score at a rate of 1 point per second.
for example, if i get a score of 65,000, but take 45 minutes to do so, my score would drop to 60,500, and that would be my leaderboard placement.
To handle this, your runs should be focused on getting to the end of each stage as fast as possible, as points can be accrued naturally at a far better pace than full clearing stages or stopping to kill.
It can be rather easy to tell what general stage people get to, as the average amount of points you get per 10 floors rounds out to around 10,000. This does tend to get muddy around the upper scores of the board, as the time deduction is quite hefty later in.
