There’s a total of 49 Gold Beetles in the game, with 3 that are missable. You need to trade 46 of them in one playthrough to unlock an achievement, but if you’re unable to collect enough, you can always start a New Game+ and carry over any remaining Gold Beetles in your inventory.

Many of these can be easily spotted thanks to their orange glow.
