Main Game – part 1
You can find the plates here:
First floor, first door to the left
Second floor, left-most room
Second floor, second door to the right (facing forward)
Return the plates on the first floor to the far right room, inside the sink. You can wash your hands in the downstairs bathroom (between the two bedrooms), or you can go upstairs to the far right and use that bathroom.
.
Before you wrap up and go to bed, check out around the house. On the first floor, you can find a family photo on the table, which shows Luna and her two parents. To the side of that, there’s a piano you can play, but you can’t do anything with it yet until you complete the game once, so go ahead and leave it be.
Upstairs in the left most room is a computer with a game called “Hungry Raccoon”. If you get 50 points, you can unlock all the steam badges.
After touring around the house, go ahead and go to bed to start the main plot line of the game.
.
At night, there is a flashback of Luna talking to a strange person, telling her to be careful with a particular ‘book’, that can cause disaster if used incorrectly. We’ll know why later.
A loud sound wakes you up and prompts you to go downstairs. Ignore the room with the bookshelf for now and go downstairs. Follow the shadow into the living room and look at the broken family photo. Once you find the photo, go out into the hall and follow the shadow upstairs.
Now it’s time to go into the upstairs bedroom with the bookshelves. Stay where you are to meet ‘Lucy’, a strange girl who has suddenly appeared in your house.
The girl wants to play a game with you, hide and seek. This will force you to run around the house and find her within 50 seconds. Her position is random, so you will need to hold shift to run and look around the house, taking extra care to watch the corners (she often hides in the dark corners).
If you do not find her in time, it is game over.
For the first hiding spot, she will most likely hide in the living room downstairs. Once you find her, interact with her and run immediately, as soon as the screen turns red. She is very fast, so you cannot delay, otherwise she’ll kill you immediately.
Run back to your bedroom and interact with the bed to escape her, entering what appears to be another flashback.
.
In this flashback, you find the girl with your parents, talking about their day. Listen along until the cutscene ends and leave the kitchen. You’ll run into the girl out in the hall, and she wants to play a game with you, cards. After you talk, she’ll run upstairs and wait for you in your bedroom, leaving you some time to explore the downstairs before you go up.
While you’re downstairs, go into the left bedroom and grab the sheet music off the ground. We will need this for the secret ending later.
With this, go ahead upstairs and go inside your bedroom, prompting the card game to begin. Once you enter your bedroom, you won’t be able to leave, so keep that in mind.
.
The card game is called “sun, moon, and stars” (Interested in seeing what the Japanese title is lol). You can listen to the game rules or not, but the most important thing is the sun is worth 5 points, the moon 3 points, and the star 1 point.
There are 3 sun cards, 5 moon cards, and 10 sun cards. You can guess your probability from there đ
When the game starts, you will have five random cards. You can pick which 3 you show, and see your opponent’s cards. If your card value is lower than hers, it’s recommended you change your cards, but if you’d like, you can wait for her to decide first and change your cards before they’re all revealed.
Play best of two with her, try if you want to actually win (you can). After you’re done playing, she will suggest another game since you still have some time and it’s…
You guessed it. Hide and seek, again.
While the other girl, Lucy, runs to the bathroom, Luna grabs a book from the nightstand and opens it. This, most likely, is the book that the woman in the flashback warned about. This current flashback is what happened to Lucy.
This bit will go into a bit of the ritual steps before the other girl, Lucy, returns from the bathroom. She mentions Luna is still good at it, hide and seek. With that, she tells you she’ll give you more time to hide this round, allowing us a bit more leeway to hunt her down.
.
With that, you’ll be prompted to save, and then thrown in the game to find her. Each time you play hide and seek with her, it gets harder and harder. I will try my best to explain the best ways to win against her.
I recommend checking upstairs first, to find her “illusion” before you find the real her. She will more than likely (but not always) be hiding in the living room or downstairs bathroom, tucked away near a corner in the dark.
Remember, as soon as you find her, run back to the bedroom. She is very fast. No shenanigans, yet.
Interact with the bed to end the chase scene, otherwise she can still game over you.
.
After running to the bed, we’re shown another cutscene of Lucy with her parents talking about her birthday present. Her parents are going out and have asked Lucy to watch the house, leaving Lucy and Luna (?) home alone.
At this point, you can now place as Lucy temporarily, which allows us to wander the house and check things out. Once you’re done, go ahead upstairs and into the second room on the right side (bookshelf room). Click the puzzle on the table and follow the prompts to solve it (it’s very easy).
Once completed, you’ll be prompted to go talk to Luna next door to talk to her before dinner. This leads to a creepy interaction in Luna’s dark room between Luna and Lucy, taking another step to explain just how Lucy got trapped in the book.
After this cutscene, you’re prompted to play hide and seek, however Lucy says that she wants you both to hide in the bed this time, together, not by yourself. This marks the first tough chase scene, so make sure you’re on your toes, because she’s persistent and fast.
You’ll have about 1:20 to find her, so more time again. You will most likely find her in the first floor bathroom (again, not always). Once she chases you, run back upstairs, but be warned she will run out of your bedroom door, so you will either have to run to the right and get around her in the bathroom, OR you will need to go downstairs and get around her that way.
Once you get around her, hurry back to your room and get to the bed, evading her once again.
Main Game – part 2
Watch this through before you’re returned to Luna once again. The world looks strangely disordered, almost looking like a drawing. You will need to explore the map and find the following items to move on (preferably in this order):
Puzzle piece: Upstairs, far left room
Mom’s photo clipping: Downstairs, left bedroom
Dad photo clipping: Downstairs, far right (by the piano)
Moon card: Kitchen table
Luna photo clip: Luna’s bedroom
Lucy’s photo clip: Bookcase room
With the family photo assembled, follow the shadow and find Lucyâs diary inside the family room on the table. Read the diary and read through all the pages before Lucy appears. Sheâs not happy, as expected. She reveals this: Luna sealed Lucy into the book and made everyone forget about her existence. Now, Lucy wants revenge, asking you to stay with her, forever.
Youâll be prompted to save before the world becomes dark and distorted. Black holes appear on the ground, which will slow you down when you run on them, lovely. Youâre given the same amount of time (1:20) to find Lucy again. She will most likely be found on the first floor in the bathroom (gives more chase distance).
NOTE: This is a TOUGH chase. To start, I suggest running into the living room and go around the couch. She will come flying out the hall door towards you, not behind you.
Run past the stairs, as sheâll come out of there too, and head towards the kitchen. Run around the table and back out before you go up the stairs. The real Lucy is now behind you.
When you get upstairs, donât go to the bedroom yet, as sheâll run out THAT door too! Instead, dash to the bathroom and run around the tub. Sheâll follow you from here, so go ahead back to the bedroom and interact with your bed to end this awful chase đŚ
Youâll probably die a few times, but good luck!
.
In the bed, we see another flashback of an old woman talking to Luna, who claims they can read minds. They gain Lunaâs trust and give her a âbookâ, the book that later trapped Lucy.
She serves us some book lore before telling us that as the book ages, it weakens, and the person trapped in the book have one chance to escape. If that happens and Luna gets trapped, then sheâll become a monster too. Thatâs when the woman tells Luna sheâll need to find âthe doorâ, so that she can escape, leaving Lucy forever trapped in the book.
Thatâs doable, right?
.
Return to reality with Lucy asking how long you intend to hide in the bed. Luna is now aware she needs to find the door to escape. Take this time to click the shiny objects around Lunaâs room (the letter and the candle). Take the letter to the candle to read the contents. The back of the letter will show you a code, the code to escape the room.
Enter the code: square, circle, triangle, arrow, heart to escape.
But wait đ you donât get to escape yet. Lucyâs found you, and sheâs going to chase you. Youâre it now. Youâll be prompted to save first, however, so donât worry too much if you die.
Without the bed, we can assume that we need to go somewhere else. Step out of Lunaâs bedroom and run immediately to the left. Go into the study room since Lucy will come flying off of the stairs. Run around the table here and get around her as you did before. Try your best to avoid the black spots.
Head downstairs and run immediately to the right into either the kitchen or living room. Get around her and head towards the front door. Pass the entry way and keep running until you find the shiny object. Interact with it, otherwise she will catch you.
Once you run to the door, youâll escape, leaving Lucy behind as you return to reality. Congrats! Pick up the drawing of Lucy at the ground. Picking up the page will prompt your mom and dad to call out to you, and the game will end, showing off this final drawing of Lucy only Luna can recognize.
If you reach the ending properly, you should see this end screen:
Secret Ending/ Achievements
Complete the Hungry Raccoon game until you score at least 50 points to get all of the achievements
———————————
To access the secret ending, you have to beat the game at least once and get to the ending with the parents. Dying before the proper ending doesnât count.
Anyway, get ready to start up a new game⌠quite a few times:
First, start a new game after beating the game. For now, go ahead and read/ ignore momâs note and head directly to the family room, remembering the sheet music we found last playthrough.
Remember these notes? Weâre going to play them on the piano. Youâll want to type the following keys on your computer keyboard: AASA FDAA SAHF AALJ FDSI IJFHF
If you enter the above music correctly, the screen should be dark and distorted. There will be a shiny item inside this room. Go ahead and grab it, which will make the screen go dark, force the game closed, and make you reopen the game to continue the secret ending.
If you completed the above part correctly, you should see a third of a drawing on the screen where momâs note is. If you see it, go ahead and continue through this guide.
Next, follow the directions on the note. Wash your hands and pick up the plates, make sure you return them before you head upstairs to bed. After you wake up from the loud sound downstairs, go to the next room over (bookcase room) and examine the book on the ground.
This will take you to a trippy, red foggy space. Pick up the shiny object here (another drawing fragment) and keep walking in this space until you see the black silhouette of a girl. Interact with her to force the game closed, which will allow us to view the second fragment on our next playthrough.
Alrighty, you have to reload the game again! Almost done!
Start this playthrough by collecting all three plates and putting them in the sink, but donât wash your hands. Walk over to the front door and walk past the doorway (exit). Instead of staying in the house, it will take you to an inverted version of your home.
Pretty wild. Anyway, walk upstairs and go to the very right room. There will be a shiny object there (final fragment), so go ahead and pick it up. You can explore if you want here, but thereâs nothing else to do, and the game will not forcefully close, so you will have to close out of the game yourself. Donât worry, your data will be saved.
Finally, last time, boot up the game and read the note. Strangely, follow the note as usual by gathering the dishes, putting them in the sink, and washing your hands before going to bed. Wake up, but instead of going downstairs, go back to the bookcase room to the right and walk in.
Walk to the bookcase and interact with the shiny object. It will take you to a strange hall, where a shiny spot is resting in a frame on the wall. Walk up to it and interact with it, which will now show the very brief hidden ending.
